Sometimes the trail that you leave… Can come back to bite you.
Because she owns a cadaver dog, Evelyn Foster knows firsthand that there are valid reasons for the authorized use of human body parts. But when someone breaks into the dental clinic where she works and steals all of the teeth from their recent extractions, even she is clueless as to what their motive might be.
When she and Atlas are called out on their first official search, they discover a gruesome crime scene, where the clues just aren’t adding up, and Eve realizes that the perpetrator was clearly trying to throw the police off course.
Determined to dig up the truth, she decides to do some investigating. Little does she know that this time it might be her skills as a dental assistant that save the day.
Can she drill down to the truth and take a bite out of crime?
When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book 5 of 5
More to come? Patti Benning is one of my favorite authors.
Eva is out with her dog 🐕 when she discovers a dead body. It is a step brother of a friend. She is there when the truth comes out leading to an arrest.
I would recommend this series and others by the author to readers of family and friends relationships mystery novels 👒😃. 2024
I gave this a 3.5 rounded up to a four. I enjoy reading stories where dogs are involved. The main character in this book rubbed me the wrong way. Albeit she did solve a murder. She got under my skin with her wild imagination and inserting herself into the crime. Perhaps its just me, of course.
"Bite Moves" is Book 5 of Patti Benning's Search and Rescue Cozy Mysteries series. These books are pretty short, but this one was about 100+ pages. This episode has Eve Foster and her newly commissioned cadaver dog find the burned body of a dead man. Also found at the scene are a bunch of teeth that were stolen from the dentist office where Eve works Monday through Friday. Those teeth were kept for Eve's dog training work in Search and Rescue. Why were those teeth stolen and why were they scattered around a burned body? By the time the case is solved, Eve realizes that what she and her dogs, Atlas and Willow, do, makes a big load of difference in the lives of the victims' families. I gave this book 5 big fat stars.
I am so very much enjoying this new series by one of my favorite authors. I have binge read all 5 of these books in a row and found them enjoyable and entertaining. Likable characters with a great premise about search and rescue dogs. Reading about what goes into training them and the vital role they play in finding missing individuals as well as deceased victims has been educational.
I hope there are more books to come. I want more of Eve, her lovely German Shepards, and her friends and their relationships.
Adorable cozy mystery series with the added bonus of furry friends! This series is a bunch of short and sweet novellas about Evelyn Foster and her two search dogs. Great series! I cant wait to read more about Evelyn Foster!
Book 5: Bite Moves Someone breaks into the dental clinic where Eve works at and steals a bunch of human teeth. Why would someone do this? Now a burnt dead body turns up with teeth. She must solve another mystery now.
Huge thank you to Blue Nose Audio for this free ALC audiobook in exchange for my candid review.
The latest case had Eve trying to connect some teeth stolen from the dental clinic to a man who'd been murdered and was Atlas's first cadaver dog find. It wasn't difficult to figure out the perp, but it was interesting following Eve while she came up with the scenario for a man's sad, senseless death. It's great that real life does have volunteers like Eve and her dogs willing to help out grieving families to find or bring closure to them. Can't wait for the next book.
Due to a break in at her work, the dental clinic, Eve finds herself with the afternoon off. So she decides to do some rescue training with Willow and their friend Luke.
Then, she gets a call, and Atlas is needed for his first search.
Another great story. A short cozy mystery. Julie McKay does a great solo performance. It’s easy to forget its the one voice narrator.
Eve first cadaver find was harder on her than she thought. She was caught up in needing to resolve the mystery around the death so much she was constantly preoccupied with those around her. She is tenacious in her resolve to go good for all involved so she keeps digging around. She does figure it out !
It happens, for many reasons, teeth have to be removed, or they get broken out or sometimes other treatments cause them to go bad. Age can be a reason teeth have to get pulled. Gum disease can cause teeth to fall out. But what ever the reason, from Sports to Age, it’s seems like it’s seldom murder.
I have now read 5 of the Search and Rescue series by Patti Benning and I have enjoyed every one. I enjoy reading several different genres and some can get a little heavy and you just need a break. These books are the break I needed ( although I don’t know if I can still call it a break). On to the sixth!!
Eve gets a call for a report of a burned body somewhere in a field.. she and her cadaver dog proceed to the field and ultimately find the body. From there the mystery grows . A fun read.
Who would want to steal extracted teeth from a dental office? Evelyn finds herself suspicious as she works as a dental assistant. Whir secrets could be hidden in those stolen teeth? It’s one mystery you donot want to miss.
This time around in addition to Atlas having is debut as a cadaver dog someone breaks in to the dentist office and steals the donated teeth. A few interesting twists in this one. I found it very enjoyable.
