Praying for Daylight

Rate this book
Kate Kelly gave up everything to be a star. Her life was on the fast track as country music’s hot newcomer, but that meant leaving her hometown of McCree Montana and the boy she loved behind.

Dustin O’Brian didn’t think he’d ever see Kate again. After leaving him with a gaping hole in his heart, he figured being in the same room with her, much less the same state, would take a miracle.

When he finds Kate hiding out in the old Kelly house, he realizes something went wrong. Dustin wasn’t sure what those Hollywood folks had done to send her running, but he was beyond happy she’d sought him out for company…once he convinced her that he’d keep her being back in McCree secret.

Things were looking up, and he had high hopes that Kate would be his once more.

That is until Death comes knocking at her door.

And Dustin realizes that the future he wants with Kate is one they will have to fight for.

I'm J.C. Isabella, and I love to write. I've been writing for about ten years now. Mostly it was just for fun, for me. But my friends liked my work, so I decided to self publish. I hope you enjoy the rest of my site, and the books I have written.

The reason I chose to write romance, is because I love a happy ending. In YA there are so many lessons to be learned, so many firsts to be had. Why not write about first kisses, first crushes, or trying to explain to your father you were bitten by your boyfriend, who happens to be a werewolf?

One thing I will always promise in my books is a happy ending. I've always hated getting to the end of a really great novel, and feeling let down because it didn't end the way I thought it should. So about ten years ago, I decided to write a book. I remember it was about these kids who hijack a boat to find buried treasure in Mexico....

Needless to say, my writing has come a long way since my teen years, and I know I have room to improve, but I feel guilty having these books sitting in my computer, with no one to read them. So I'm putting them out for the world to see!

I try not to take myself too seriously. I'm not an editor, nor am I a total wiz when it comes to grammar or language. I try my darndest though, and I hope to give people an enjoyable read that is nice a break from reality.

I put a lot of work into what I do, and I appreciate people reading my work. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

This was a phenomenally brilliant, exceptionally realistic tale. I love how Isabella combines completely realistic moments with those just slightly out of the realm of the everyday to create something completely unique and utterly captivating. The author combines complex descriptions with a captivating storyline. Suspense plays against emotion to create a completely inescapable world.

The cast of characters in this novel were quite unique. They played against one another and supported one another. They had a very unique family like relationship, where everyone played up their own skills without overstepping someone else. I also appreciated the fact that although the cast of characters were primarily in the NA range, they were always supported by adults. It was a very nice change to the genre.

I loved this cowboy infused, real world story. It was a tale that kept me entertained and guessing.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The McCrees are back, baby!

Praying for Daylight is the awesome companion novel of Chasing McCree and it's to short stories McCree's Star Spangled 4th and a McCree Christmas, and although it has the same settings and (kind of) the same characters you don't have to read Chasing McCree before reading Praying for Daylight.

In Chasing McCree, it's briefly mentioned how Dustin still hasn't gotten over his high school sweetheart Kate Kelly who went to pursue a career in music. In this novel we get to delve further into the story of Kate and Dustin.

Kate, has a very bubbly and outgoing character. She lives with her heart on her sleeve. Until one day, she gets a threatening call from an unknown person. Forced to lay low for a while, she then goes back to the place she thought she'd never go back to...McCree.

Dustin still can't get over his first love Kate, and just once he finds out that he's being cheated on things get more complicated for him when Kate comes back home. But she's not the Kate he used to know, she's a changed girl. And although she's hiding behind a cold demeanour and a red wig, Dustin can see right through her and is determined to bring out the Kate he once loved-and maybe still does.

I loved how we got to see quite a bit of the characters from Chasing McCree. Chase and Briar were just as adorable in this book as Dustin and Kate.
Speaking of which, the relationship between these two was spectacular. It's really great how their issues were resolved between them without a lot of unneeded and, frankly, unwanted complications.

The mystery in this book was really gripping and had me turning pages as fast as I could. Readers may or may not guess the culprit, which is the beauty of it. You may think you're right, but you can't be sure until you get to the end.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and romantic read

Firstly let me say that I love J.C.Isabella's writing. Chasing McCree is an awesome book as are all her others which I've read. All her books are well written, this book being no exception however that being said I had to give it less stars for the story.
The story seemed a little lacking in several aspects. I didn't feel for the characters. The story felt shallow. The whole Death thing felt like it was just there to make the story interesting but I don't think it did much. The relationship was barely visible, there was very little progression and development. The writing was the redeeming factor and the book was enjoyable but the story was just disappointing compared to McCree and her other books. I really wanted to like this book and was so excited to read it. I think these characters and the story could have been made into so much more and I know I could have loved it, as it is I liked it but it's nothing incredible.

This is a pretty good YA book. I felt the characters were a little young for me to really relate with. Though this is a suspenseful story, I feel more of the book is focused on the relationships of the characters. It was well written, but I would have loved to see more of a focus on Kate having those around her help with the situation, than her trying to keep them all safe. This is certainly a sweet romance, and I feel it's a good read for any age.

I began with reading Jc Isabella with chase McCree and his time in florida coming back to Montana with his girlfriend and than went on to her novellas and was excited when this book came out. I wasn't disappointed.

Dustin is wonderful and keeps up with the McCree characteristics of being a cowboy with a heart of gold. A young man who has been hurt and still loves the girl but trying to forget her. That is until she shows up again in town.

Kate is the one who let go. Always one to protect fiercely the ones she loves and Dustin was no exception. She hurt him to protect himself and her heart. Protects her sister so that she can live a life. Or so she thought. this kind up and coming singer is threatened and in order to protect her family she runs to the last place she ever wanted to go back to-Montana and her past. Particularly Dustin. but that doesn't mean that she avoids being found out.

found out by her friends and Dustin. When she is they all have this desire to help her even if they have no idea what they are trying to help her with. Dustin is the only one that can make her feel safe enough to tell her problems too. Dustin is sympathetic and does everything he can to help protect her. His love for her still strong and he wants her to see that they can be together and work on anything no matter what it is. in the meantime the danger gets closer and closer.

this is a fun read. A quick read as well for the time flew by and soon I was at the end. a story about learning to let others in and allowing them to help you and letting yourself love again freely.

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?

Praying For Daylight by J.C. Isabella is the story of Dustin and Kate. If you've read Chasing McCree, which I haven't yet, you'll recognize Dustin. This was a sweet romance. I wasn't expecting it to be as suspenseful as it was, so that was a nice little surprise. The Death character kept me guessing most of the way through. He was a creepy little bugger. Kate and Dustin are pretty lovable. They seemed to make amends pretty fast. I expected that to take longer, but they are cute together. This book makes me want to go back and read Chasing McCree so I can learn more about Briar and Chase's characters.

Once again another fantastic read from author J.C. Isabella that won't let you down. This book can be read as a stand alone Novel, however I highly recommend you read Chasing McCree first. I absolutely loved Kate and Dustin's story! It was full of mystery and suspense with a young love between childhood sweethearts and the circumstances In life that took them away from each other and brought them back together. I loved the fact that characters such as Chase and Briar from Chasing McCree were a big part of this story too. I really hope this is not the last we will hear of the characters from McCree Montana. Thank you J.C.Isabella. Anita from Liverpool in the UK.

Praying for Daylight raises the stakes with a poignant mix of romance, small-town loyalty, and real-life struggles. Kate Kelly’s return to her Montana hometown and her relationship with Dustin O’Brian are heartfelt and layered, exploring themes of loss, hope, and fighting for a second chance at love. The emotional depth and tension, combined with the country music backdrop, make it a compelling and moving read.
