Jennifer Nolan has been unlucky when it comes to love; even more unfortunate when it comes to sex. In fact, the twenty year-old college junior is about to enter her senior year still carrying her v-card. All she wants is to be with that special someone without it resulting in a trip to the emergency room, runaway office supplies, or being scarred for life by someone's weird fetishes. With several botched attempts under her belt, she begins to fear she'll end up a lonely spinster or a crazy cat lady.

With only 60 days until her 21st birthday, Jennifer is determined to lose her virginity once and for all. Little does she know that her mission will lead her down a path toward love. She never expects that her mission will lead her to a discovery of what true womanhood is, and where true and lasting love begins.

As I'm sitting down to write this review, I'm wondering where in the heck to start. I actually went into this book not expecting much and was blown away by it. :D This book will keep you on your toes. So saying that, let me now start off as I typically would. Heh. V-Card is this first book in the Sharing Spaces series by Alicia Michaels. I have never read a book by her before and I was pleasantly surprised. I will be reading the rest of this series!

When I first started reading this book, I was sort of annoyed. Here was this chick (Jenn), going on and on about her virginity and how she wants to get rid of it. Then you start finding out about the things she's gone though... I'll say it straight up, I think I'd have had a complex too if I went through what she did!! Do I agree with how she goes about this, no, but does it make for an entertaining and enlightening read to see what happens to her and how she changes even her own point-of-views on things through the book? Yes.

This isn't just a love story, or a path Jenn sets herself on. This book is more than that and I enjoyed that part of it more than the rest. As for Jenn herself, she just feels lacking due to not having experiences. This too changes over the course of the book. The character is engaging however and can make you feel more than one emotion. Amusement, annoyance, heart break, angst, sympathy... just to name a few.

You might be wondering if we have a hero. Well, we do! The thing is, I don't want to spoil anything by telling you about that bit. That actually makes this review a bit challenging to write. I was -shocked- at a few points through this book and wide-eyed as well because I wasn't expecting what happened. This is coming from a person who typically has book and movie plots both figured out in the first thirty minutes. Well, I wasn't expecting this one.

For those wondering if she goes out and hurls herself at every man she sees, Jenn doesn't do that. She's very safe about it, in fact. She may want to lose her virginity but she's at least sensible. She doesn't put herself in situations that are going to lead to her own self harm.

Would I recommend this book to people? Oh yeah, I would. I loved the writing. My one thing would be that if you're not a fan of first person POV books, then you might not enjoy it as much, however definitely worth it if you want to give it a shot. I'm not a huge fan of first person POV myself and I -loved- it.

I enjoyed this story. It was light, fun and sweet. After reading some darker stories, this was very refreshing.
I thought Jenn was a very likable character and unlike most female heroines, she didn't annoy me at all! There was also a twist in the story that I didn't see coming which surprised me, usually I can predict what will happen.

My only complaint, if it's even a complaint is that the cover and title lead me to believe that the story was going to be "spicier" than it was but nonetheless, I enjoyed reading about Jenn's quest.

Overall, I recommend this book for anyone in the mood for something PG-13, sweet, fun and light. : )

I’m not really sure where to start with this book, I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. Don’t go into this book thinking it’s going to be steamy hot because it really isn’t but it’s a sweet story of love that comes from the last place that you expect. This is my first book by this author and I am so going to be reading the rest of this series.

Jennifer is turning twenty one in two months and has decided that to become a woman she needs to lose her virginity, there have been times in the past but each of her encounters with trying sex have ended in disasters, albeit very amusing but once you read about them you can see why before now there has been no hurry for her to repeat the encounters. So far she has found no one that really appeals around campus and is running out of hope. That is until she offers to be one of her roommates Christian’s pretend girlfriend for a party his parents are throwing and that’s where she meets Dain. He’s perfect in every way considerate, caring and makes feel special but is he really everything that she thinks or is there a side to him she has yet to meet and why is she thinking of Luke her other roommate so much? In the end who will she choose Dain who makes everything seem so perfect or Luke who she’s known forever and makes her feel everything?

All the characters in this book are very different but fit together really well, honestly looking forward to reading more in this series and more from this author.

This was certainly more romance than erotica. As the title suggests, the main character is a virgin who is looking for the guy to change that before she's 21. She's good-looking but has comically bad luck. Everyone in the book but her knows that someone has a crush on her. (Including me, as I read it, because it seemed ridiculously obvious.) The story is totally predictable and ends with heartwarming, traditional feels. What makes it good is the humor weaved throughout. The make-out scenes have plenty of heat. But the scene you know is coming (again, look at the title) is all heart and very low on the heat scale. As I said, it's romance, not erotica. That big climax scene is PG-13, not R, certainly not X. The book seems to draw a reader in with lust but ends by giving love. I don't read enough of the genre to know if that's a trend. It was well-written and the humor was right up my alley. Quite good if this is the sort of book you're looking to read.

This is a story about a young woman named Jennifer. She is 20 years old and has had the worst luck with the opposite sex, which is why she is still a virgen. Jennifer is determined to lose her chastity by her 21st birthday in only two months time, no matter what. In her search for the perfect candidate she will find herself in a love triangle of the sweetest kind.
This was a refreshing and light summer read. Very well written with some adorable characters.
If your looking for something sweet and romantic, this is one to consider.

I just finished V-card and I really liked it. Jenn is a 20 year old virgin. Not by choice mind you but some seriously funny accidents (not funny at the time I'm sure) have happened when she has tried to lose her "v-card" so now she has set up
a timeline. It's two months to her birthday and she will lose it no matter what. She is now on a mission. Here comes Dain. He is rich and funny and someone that she really likes and they both enjoy each other's company. This causes tension with Luke her roommate and good friend. He is not digging this new guy and he definitely makes it known. Jenn believes it is just now that she is taken he now wants her and that is not what she wants. Does she choose Dain who makes her feel special or does she choose Luke who makes her question everything? You will have to read and see

Wow. What a good read. It was quick but it packed a big punch and I just didn't want to let it end. I was hooked from the get go. I will be honest. I was skeptical. But I ended up pleasantly surprised only cause this is a new author for me and you always take a risk. I'm so glad I jumped on it.

I loved all the characters. I didn't know what to think of them at first. They all comes from different walks of life. Christian and Chloe are rich. Luke, Jenn and Kinsley are not. But they grew on me. They all had their purpose but it got me so interested that I would love more to come from this.

This was a good spin on the finally realizing I love you type of story. Was it predictable. In some ways but I enjoyed it all the same.

You have to go out and get this one. I enjoyed it. You might too!

I have read Alicia Michael's books before, but this is by far my favorite. This book is so funny, sweet, cute and fun, it's a must read for anyone looking for an entertaining, light read.

The characters in this book are rich, and they brought me back to my college days, reminding me of some of some of my friends back then. The book made me laugh out loud, and when I finished it, it left me with a smile on my face. If I could give this book more stars, I would.

Definitely pick this one up!!

Took me a bit to get into this story (I am thinking it was the prologue, so I basically just skimmed over it to get the basics of whats going on) So glad I did this instead of giving up and not reading this book. I couldnt put it down after starting it. Fantastic read. She finds love in unexpected places, and that all important v-card isn't just given to anyone during her deadline to lose it. Loved the friendships in the book, and how the friends stick together. Great quick read for a spring day relaxing by the pool or lounging at the beach

Really fun book to read! I would give this book around 3.5 to 3.75 stars. I didn't have any main issue with the book, it just didn't wow me. The ending did feel a bit rushed. The main thing that bugged me about this book is because it is marketed like the book focuses on Jenn losing her virginity by 21 when it is a lot more than that. The synopsis actually threw me off because I am a feminist and it rubbed me the wrong way. I am glad I read this book, though it could have been just a smudge longer. It is a fun and cute read and one of the best I have read on wattpad so far.

This narrator was completely new to me just as the author was. I fell hard for Marami’s narrating style and voice acting. I was truly bummed when I went to download the next book in the series only to see she had been replaced by another narrator.

I’m a sucker for the virgin romance trope, so this book was like catnip for me. Without revealing spoilery details, I felt Jennifer’s quest to lose her virginity without further crazy mishaps didn’t play out as typically as I thought it might. I also liked the friendship vibe all the roommates had going on. It was a no brainer to download the next roommate’s story, Brat.

I actually binge read V-Card (Sharing Spaces, #1) by Alicia Michaels , Brat (Sharing Spaces, #2) by Alicia Michaels and Thin (A New Adult Contemporary Romance) (Sharing Spaces Book 3) by Alicia Michaels via audiobook format, and of the three novels, V-Card was by far my favorite.

I believe that is because the challenges in the subsequent two novels were just way heavier in theme than I usually prefer. Nevertheless, I’m glad I had them all to read and got to live several college experiences I never had vicariously through these characters.

Didn't think I would like this, but it was kind of great.

V-Card follows Jennifer, a 20-year old woman in college who still has her v-card intact, shall we say. She decides that she's gonna try and lose it before her 21st birthday. Which gives her two months or roughly 60 days. To help her friend Christian out, she agrees to be his fake girlfriend at a party his parents are hosting. At said party, Jennifer meets Dain, a rich attractive guy who appears to be into her. Soon, Jennifer and Dain are dating, and it looks like she is well on her way to losing her virginity in time. That is until her best friend Luke starts acting weird, and reveals he's actually in love with her. Uh-oh. Trouble ensues...

As I said before, I didn't think I would like this book but it was cute, and I managed to read it all in one sitting. I loved Jennifer, and . I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I like to think im a big enough person to admit when I choose a book solely based on its cover. Ive stated so many times in these here eviews. V-card was one such book. I mean that and well Alicia Michaels has yet to let me down.. Spoiler alert She still hasnt. So I received the book from the author and began reading it the same day.. This people should be marked in history because this never happens. If your anything like me and your tbr could wrap around the way 8 times getting to a book can take some time. But I was super excited. I had no idea what the story was and basically I didnt care. Im a rebel that way.
So we start off the book with Jennifer Nolan. Almost 21 and ready to toss away her V-card. She didnt seem to have a guy in mind and didnt seem particularly careful about it. She was in no way throwing herself at everything with a penis. Just very eager. After a number of disastrous tempts shes ready to give it another go. I went into this book pretty gung ho! But then I learned all that. And well it sounded very much like a book I read in the past by A.J. Bennett. A book I loved! So my enthusiasm wavered. I wanted to put the book down but I owed it to myself and Michaels shoot maybe even Bennett to see where this story went. Im super excited to tell you that’s where the similarities ended. Trust me I was so relieved, that couldve been a very awkward situation.
Jennifer lives in a dorm off campus with her friends. Kinsleys, is super smart and very motivated. Chloe is spoiled but loveable. Christian is super mega hot and well off. And luke is extremely charming. They compliment each other very well. I really liked Chloe, I couldve been Chloe in another life! I want to be spoiled dont judge me. Jennifer is studying to be a nurse and is very focused.
So Christian is invited to a family/business gathering and Jennifer offers to be his pretend girlfriend to get his mom off his back. Everything goes off with out a hitch and while his parents believe they are a couple both Christian and Jennifer are quick to let his “friends” know its all for show. Leaving room for him to mingle with the women and Jennifer is lucky enough to me a pretty awesome guy Dain. He even saves her, Awwe. They begin to go out and really start to enjoy each other. Im not sure if Christian ever told his parents he and Jennifer “broke up” but I like to think he did.
Things are going well for Jennifer until Luke makes the moves on her. Shes completely taken back and wonders if hes only doing this because Dain is in the picture. Everyone pretty much lets her know shes blind and has been blind to Lukes feelings towards her. Shes slightly confused on how to take this all. I mean who wouldnt be. I have to admit to messaging Alicia and yelling at her about this matter and she was kind enough to let me know she slept with a taser nearby. Yep I totally noted that for the future. Because this is a series after all. BTW the title of the series is Sharing Spaces and well its not that kinda sharing. In case you’ve got a dirty mind lemme just kill that for you now. There were a few juicy things that happened and one hugely juice thing, I was soo disappointed by certain turn of events. And completely ecstatic about some.
Im assuming the rest of the series will be about the other roomies and I look forward to their shenanigans. The story while at first scared me played with my emotions in wonderful way and gave me something ive long wished for. Now I know im being vague but I really cant spoil the story for you.

At twenty years old, Jennifer's still a virgin, though not necessarily by choice or for lack of trying. Determined to ditch that label by her twenty-first birthday, she's on the lookout for that special guy with whom to take the next step. Add in one hot guy who is more than interested, crazy roommates, and Luke, the friend who's acting differently around her, and the next couple of months are going to be an emotional roller coaster.

The Verdict:/b> Wow. I picked up this book on a whim. The college age girl trying to lose her virginity isn't exactly a new plotline, but it's generally a fun one, so I figured I would read this when I was all out of scheduled reviews and looking for something simple. But V-Card is sooooooooooooo much better than I expected.

Jennifer's not proud of her virgin status. In fact, she only has that distinction thanks to a series of mishaps over the years. At the same time, she's not looking to lose the label via a meaningless one-night stand, so really she's simply a college student who wants a real relationship that will lead to sex. Completely understandable, right? Then she meets Dain.

Dain is a friend of a friend, and he really seems like the perfect guy. He's sweet and kind and patient, and when he finds out she's a virgin, he doesn't push her. He drops in when he misses her, brings her flowers for no reason at all, and spends time with her the way only the most perfect boyfriend will. But while Dain is romancing Jennifer, her friend Luke is acting strange. He makes no secret of his dislike for Dain, and something seems to be happening between him and Jennifer. There's a new bit of heat between them that catches Jennifer off guard, but it's not something she's willing to explore, since she knows all about his player status. After all, they live in the same house, so she sees just how often that revolving door to his bedroom welcomes a different girl.

V-Card is surprisingly fun read, complete with all the usual college hijinks and drama, and a dose of harsh reality when least expected. Jennifer is an easy character to love, since she's neither a wallflower nor a wild child, and I'm betting most women can relate to her simply wanting the happy relationship status she sees others having. I have to say that twist in the plot really caught me off guard, too, just as it did Jennifer, and I think that says a lot about Alicia Michaels's writing. Where most authors throw in such heavy hints that I just want to slap the heroine for not noticing the obvious, Michaels keeps readers in the moment, seeing things completely from the heroine's perspective, and it makes for a powerful story. V-Card is fun, sweet, sad, and often hilarious, and it's definitely a must-read for any die-hard romance fan. You can bet I'm grabbing the rest of this series!

My name is Jennifer Nolan and I am a twenty-year-old virgin

V-Card by Alicia Michaels was a light and funny read. This is the first time I have ever read a book from this author but after reading this book, I'm sure that this wouldn't be the last.

One thing that really attracted me to reading this book was the cover.

Jennifer Nolan wants to lose her virginity before her twenty-first birthday. With only sixty days until her birthday she needs to move fast. When she pretends to be the girlfriend for her friend, there at the party she meets hunky Dain. Sparks fly between them but then her friend Luke starts to show signs of jealousy. With two guys pining for her what would a virgin do?

At first I though that Jenn was very childish for wanting to lose her virginity instead of waiting for the right one, but when I read about her escapades, I can now understand her. I mean her stories is good enough to be sent to "Sex sent me to the ER".

Dain was a hunk. He was nice and funny and sweet but I can sense the douchbaggery under all of that hunkiness. And yes, douchebaggery is a word in my dictionary.

Luke was such a sweet guy. Like Jenn I had some doubts about him too but he won me over with his charm.

I would have really wished this book to be longer since the ending was a little bit too fast for me and I just wanted more time with the characters.

The story wasn't full of drama and is really good for people who just wants a nice book to read while relaxing.

I did a spotlight post on this book about a month ago. After reading the synopsis and being asked to do a review, I couldn’t say no. This was a new twist to the typical NA books I’ve read and I needed to know what was going on and how things panned out.

Jennifer is an accident waiting to happen. From falling off of a dock into the water to getting a stapler to the rear end, the poor girl just can’t catch a break when it comes to the opposite sex. After several failed attempts at losing her v-card, she vows to lose it by her 21st birthday.

Cue the dock scene where she meets the incredibly gorgeous Dain, a friend of her roommate Christian. With his quick wit and charming ways, he soon has Jenn eating out of the palm of his hand. Dain seems like the perfect guy until a conversation not meant for Jenn’s ears leaves her questioning everything she ever thought about love.

Enter the lovable Luke, another one of Jenn’s roommates. His playboy ways and brotherly protectiveness never causes any concern for Jenn until an unplanned kiss leaves both of them reeling. Unsure of her feelings, she pushes him away. When things go sour with Dain, Luke is the one there to catch her when she falls. As things progress, Jenn has to decide whether this is true love or if she’s still caught up in Dain and losing her v-card.

What a wonderful debut into the contemporary world! Although I thought the book had a bit of a slow start for me, I was soon wound up in Jenn’s story and the author’s humorous writing style. Michaels took a serious subject and was able to develop a cute and sweet story, with just the right amount of comedy added to lighten things up. Although I’m not sure what the next book has in store, I’m definitely looking forward to continuing the series.

I would recommend this to anyone looking to escape into a sweet love affair. Fans of contemporary and chick lit should find this story both charming and witty.

Review also posted on my blog http://www.reviewedthebook.co.uk/2014...

V-Card was a real fun, feel-good book. The main character, Jennifer, heading towards her 21st birthday, is determined to lose her virginity beforehand. Not that she hasn’t had the chance to do so, just that things always go drastically wrong when the time comes. The moment the book started, Jenn’s story had me smiling and as you learn the missed opportunities she’s had to rid herself of her ‘V-Card’, Alicia Michaels provides plenty of moments to laugh at.

Fast paced and amusing, there was a lot to love about V-Card. The cast of characters were great to read. I loved Jenn’s best friends Kinsley and Chloe – especially Chloe who was so different from the rest with her high fashion and more expensive outlook on life!

The comedy in this book was the best part. Right from the beginning, when we learn about Jenn, her clumsiness and unfortunate incidents, V-Card had me laughing. The first half of the book, when Jenn met Dain and things were just as ridiculous for her as she describes in the first chapter, I loved. It was really entertaining and great just to put a smile on your face. As the book went on, though, as enjoyable as it was, I thought the plot became a bit too predictable and as the focus was more on the romance than the comedy, I didn’t love the second half of the book quite as much.

It is a light hearted read though and with a mixture of characters, it’s easy to make relations from them to yourself or people you know. Chloe reminded me a lot of my best friend and I definitely know someone like Dain too. It was refreshing to read a fun, humorous outlook in a New Adult book rather than the more emotional, grim outlook seen in so many and V-Card was simply an entertaining, very enjoyable romantic comedy. I look forward to the next Sharing Spaces book.

4/5.

Could you imagine wanting to lose your virginity by your 21st birthday??? Even counting down the days knowing that you really need to find someone that would qualify to give it to. But, instead of finding one good candidate.... two end up becoming known.

This is exactly what happens to the main character in the book, Jennifer. Every attempt she has had to get rid of her V-Card has ended in a disaster... and some of those stories are hilarious! How many bad things could honestly happen to one person???

First let's talk about Dain who she meets through one of her roommates Christian. He seemed so perfect at first. He came to her rescue and then things slowly progressed. I did question a couple of times when he got his work phone call on whether it was really work but wanted to give him the benefit of doubt. Jenn seemed to be so happy with him and almost starting to fall in love with him until Luke revealed the ugly side of jealousy.

I liked Luke's character. He was another roommate of Jenn's and always seemed to be in the background. You could tell he cared fro Jenn but you never knew how deep his feelings truly were. Then when he kisses her it changes everything. Can she continue with her relationship with Dain that seems so perfect or be with the roommate who is known as the player???

This was a very cute and quick read! I finished it in one sitting. I loved the dynamics between the roommates... especially the girls. I thought it was the perfect ending and I loved when Jenn took one of the guys to her house for Thanksgiving. *swoon* Just remember that the truth about someone will always come out so be careful what you say because you never know who may be standing on the other side of a door!

V-Card... That title does say so much. In the first of Alicia Michals new contemporary series, she writes about a 20 year old college student that is determined to lose her virginity.
Jenn Nolan feels she needs to lose her virginity before she turns 21. She has had some experiences in the past that she wants to get past from, so she has a countdown on to losing her V-Card.
The first several chapters are just hilarious! There are 4 others living in an apartment with her. Kinsley, Christian, Luke and Chole are Jenn's roommates that have no idea what she is planning. On Day 1 of her countdown, each one of her roommates are looking at her choice of clothes instead of the usual jeans to go to class.
Jenn is just super determined to lose her virginity, she isn't looking closely at what is going on around her.
After the first few chapters of the hilarious antics, it finally get serious. Jenn makes a discovery that is going to change her plan of action.
The story is balanced and I really loved it. Jenn could really be a college student on the prowl. As each page that I got turned, I found myself hoping that Jenn would find that special guy to meet her goal. I was laughing out loud at some of the story and then almost crying at the sweetness of the rest. The rest of the characters made the story and I hope that Ms. Micheals has plans to continue on with the residents of Apartment 4C.

I had just come out of reading a somewhat dark love story so I needed a book to help lighten my mood.
V-Card was that book for me.

It's about a young College girl who wants to lose her um " V-Card" before her 21st birthday and she's on a mission to do just that. She wants to just get it over with because she doesn't want to feel like a young clumsy girl anymore and she thinks that losing it will help her feel more like a woman.
I can totally relate to that. Us girls think that we need bigger breasts and a slim body to feel like a woman.. Little did Jenn know what was in store for her.
To me Jenn was your typical girl next door. She was sweet and kind. Had great friends, who were also her room mates but she had one huge problem... She was horrible at trying to get with a guy. The two times she tried went terribly wrong so much so that she was afraid of it. Actually breaking out in hives which I thought was pretty sad.
I loved her room mates though. The guys were fun loving "manwhores" and the girls were a brainiacs and a rich princess who has a soft spot. They all fit together perfectly.
Poor Jenn though..she really had some rough luck with guys. I was actually hoping in he end she wouldn't give it up to the wrong one. We all know that stuff you totally regret and I just knew she had to have the right guy.
Such a fun story. Of course there were the times you wanted to punch her boyfriend and male friends but in the end it was just.. Well, I'm not giving up the end but it was a really great ending. I loved it anyway.

Alicia Michaels is one of my favorite small press/Indie authors, so as soon as I heard she had written a New Adult book I had to read it. I've struggled with New Adult books in the past, but I'm learning that the author really does set the tone for these books. Alicia Michaels did just that with V-Card. It's a very quick read, and I read it in one sitting without even realizing that's what I was doing. It was so easy to get engrossed in this book!

The dynamic of the characters works so well, and I really loved getting to know all of them. Immediately, I pictured Jenn as Jennifer Lawrence. I was so excited whenever I saw that Alicia picked JLaw as Jenn with the dream cast! All of the roommates were so well thought out. They each stand out as their own unique person. It was interesting to compare Dain and Luke. I won't say any more as to spare you from spoilers.

V-Card is the perfect summer read. It's a light and fun book that you can read in one evening. I did feel sad to leave the characters at the end, though. There was a definite lack of drama and immaturity, and I was so happy for it. If you're looking for a quick and fun New Adult read, you have to pick up V-Card!

I bought this book on a Kindle deal a little while back, and on a whim decided to start it because it sounded so funny. And boy, funny it is!

This book is told in a single POV, from Jenn’s POV, and Jenn’s voice is fun, funny and real. I really liked the writing, the prologue had me laughing so much that I was afraid I would wake someone.

I really liked all the characters. Jenn and all her roommates, Kinsley, Luke, Christian and Chloe, are fun, different, but all awesome friends. I really loved the relationship between the five of them. I read books with roommates all the time, but these felt like a family and it made me love them all even more.

The book is about Jenn finding love, while her goal was to lose her virginity, and realizing the real difference between infatuation and the real thing. I’ll tell you that there are two love interests, and I was happy that I called the real one pretty early in the game. The romance (both of them) is so so sweet, and it was great to see Jenn find herself and what she wanted by experiencing some things, especially letting go of her fears.

Overall this was a fun and light New Adult Romance, with a university setting, with low heat, that I highly highly recommend!
