Touching Eternity

Rate this book
Before Fallon was created to destroy. Before love became the ultimate weapon of destruction. There was Amalie and the horror that started a revolution that tore the fabric of humanity, of everything standing in the balance between power, hope and survival.

Amalie has one wish, one gnawing desire — she wants to die.
She wants to leave this world behind with its pain and darkness. She wants to finally breathe. But Amalie is a prisoner, a disease, not fit for life. She is unwanted, unnatural. She is defective, something useless and broken. Her own mother hadn’t wanted her. Her father hated her. The world shunned her and the only person she had ever loved, truly and with all her heart and soul, couldn’t stand the sight of her, couldn’t stand the thought of ever being with her. She repulsed him. Her insanity disgusted him. He’d forgotten her. He’d left her behind, deserted and abandoned her to a madman hell bent on crushing her, stealing her soul and shattering her will.

But what if she’s finally given hope? A reason to live? Can Amalie finally accept the hand offering so much for so little in return? Can she love again when she has nothing left to give?

Can she finally be free?

I have been sitting for days trying to get this story out of my mind and get this review written but to no avail. This to me is the sign of an amazing story teller/author. This tale has stuck with me like glue.

I decided that I would start my review with a warning. This book is not for the faint hearted as mentioned in the synopsis. Things aren't rainbows and butterfly's and this book deals with so many things so horrid we would rather live under a rock than know about. There were times I wasn't sure I could read on as I could feel my stomach acid rising up my throat and my heart jumping out of my chest. It wasn't overly descriptive, but the constant terror that Amalie lived through battered my senses. My heart was broken so many times but the writing was so incredible I had to know what happened. I could not put this masterpiece down. I had to hope, even though I knew the outcome, that it would all be okay in the end.

Isaiah and Amalie have been close for forever and reading the story from their past to their current had me glued to my kindle. They started as just some kids thrown together by circumstance but both needing something only the other could give. Escape from something or someone. Am's tried to escape her MAD scientist father whom played god and 'fixed' kids with his ancient torture methods and Isaiah had to escape his upbringing. Put them together and you get one spectacular and heart wrenching tale of love.

"There is no one that can make me look into their eyes and see the rest of my life. Only you."

This book was dark and gritty, & filled with more lows than highs but was a thrilling and heart stopping read. The highs that peek through are absolutely heart stopping for just that moment. Ms Phoenix is a genius, I swear it. I was completely immersed and even when I thought my heart couldn't stand to shatter any more it did. Every single time.

'She was a weed struggling through cracks of concrete, unwanted, undesired, crushed and abused under trampling feet. She would never see the sun. She would never be free. She would always be a solitary candle in the dark, cold without a flame to warm it, forever peering out at the world through a laminated sheet of glass too thick to penetrate...'

Touching Smoke is one of my top reads this year and although this one was a tough read for me personally Ms Phoenix has catapulted up my ladder of epic with this remarkable heart breaker...

When I first opened the book, right away I am informed it is for mature audience only. With a warning not recommended to those under 18 due to violence, drugs, abuse and suicide. (Which is only a tiny example of what this book is about.) The Author does not condone it, it’s just telling a story of how it all began in her book of "Touching Smoke". So please if you have had experiences related to any of the above or if you are sensitive to manners as such, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK! You will only discredit the story as well as the Author in the end.

First let me say this story was brilliantly told. Airicka Phoenix has once again blown my mind with her imagination and creativity. I simply can not tell you how much I loved Touching Smoke. I bought it for every friend that would let me LOL. So I was not missing a chance to read something else from this Author. I can picture in my mind this Author saying, my mind tells me it can't work, but my heart tells me I want to try it. So try she did, and accomplishment she conquered. What Phoenix did is twist a story of horror manifested by humans. She uses her creativity to totally hypnotize me.

You need to understand what you get with this Author, when choosing one of her books. While you are reading, slowing you will find yourself unimaginable woven into reality. You will feel every detail of this story come to life inside you. You will go to jump into the shower and find your lungs tighten, as the water hits you. You will find your bones ache as you walk around the office. You will find yourself waiting for something bad to happen. Not too mention you will dream of her dreams. You know why? The Author has a way of planting this story so deeply in your subconscious mind, you believe this is now your reality! She uses her power of words to do so, that nothing will stop it until it reaches it's goal and finally convinces your subconscious that you are Amalie!!!!!

Fantastic job to the Airicka Phoenix, you are in a category by yourself with you talent in writing.

Signed forever your fan!

It's not often that I am left breathless after reading a book, but I'm still trying to recover after reading Touching Eternity. Words cannot express how fantastic this book is, but I will try my best...

I was so excited to read the story of Amalie and Isaiah, characters I was introduced to in Touching Smoke. Their story is heartbreaking.

The chemistry and love between Amalie and Isaiah developed beautifully. Their feelings were built on friendship and acceptance, blossoming into something more definate as the years passed and as they grew.

Amalie lives a tragic life. Prisoner in her own home, subjected to all kinds of torture by her father, who is hell bent on fixing in her what he believes is broken. It was clear that Garrison was a bit of a nutcase when I first met him in Touching Smoke, but boy oh boy, is a crazed lunatic in this book. He is so blinded by his own ideas and his drive for success, that nothing and no one can make him see that what he is doing is evil.

Amalie is treated like a crazed animal, locked up under heavy guard, never allowed to venture out her room unless Garrison gave the word.

Isaiah was such an endearing character. I loved his mysteriousness in Touching Smoke, but I loved him even more in this book. He will do just about anything he can for the love of his life. But, he too, was blinded by his need to please Garrison, the man who took him off the streets, giving him a better life. It's only when Isaiah witnessed the extent of Garrison's torture that he realised his own mistakes, and he did everything he could to make amends. Which I personally feel he did brilliantly. Find a guy who'll take a needle in the arm for you...not in this lifetime!!

Many of the secondary characters were of the unsavoury kind, but none made my skin crawl as much as Gabriel Tomas. From the minute he entered the story I knew there wasn't something quite right with the situation. He was a real slime ball!

This story is dark and twisted. Filled with tragedy and heart-shattering moments that had me gasping and sobbing throughout. But it also held a bright shining light, one filled with love, hope, devotion, selflessness, courage and heroism.

If I had to sum it up on one word, it would be PERFECTION!

Touching Eternity was an out of the ball park home run in my opinion! Airicka Phoenix has an amazing way with words to pull you in as a reader. I think book 1.5 is just what this series ordered. In Touching Smoke Fallon was the main focus but with a back playing role being taken by these dreams of a woman whom she didn't know but was always the same. Eventually Fallon put an name and a face to the woman who was Amalie. Touching Eternity is Amalies story told from hers and Isaiahs point of views and it truly opens the eyes of the readers so much more as to what this girl has and did go through and what a boy will do to right his wrongs and truly love another more the the breath he breaths. I was so truly caught up in Amalie's story and through out reading I remembered what Fallon saw as to how Amalie met her death and I was hoping it wasn't true I was praying and rooting for Isiah to save her she has been tortured her whole life and in my opinion deserved everything Isiah has to offer her. I can't hardly wait for Airickas next book I am so caught up in the characters and have found myself sad and hurt when they are in the book and also happy for them when they are happy. Also I believe even though this book is a 1.5 I feel that Touching Smoke and Touching Eternity could honestly be read in any order but best read number 1 then 1.5. I hope my review encouraged some hopefully all to grab these books you won't be disappointed.

“Touching Eternity (Touch, Book 1.5)” by Airicka Phoenix

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This adult book was awesome! I loved it so much, and it was definitely on a completely new level from “Touching Smoke (Touch, Book 1).” The first book of the Touch series was a Young Adult novel, but this book, “Touching Eternity (Touch, Book 1.5)” was an adult story because of the subject matter. The things that happened, and the emotions that came with each incident, were adult content. I would give this book by Airicka Phoenix 5 STARS overall, because it sucked me in and got me involved from the beginning to the end.

You can simply read the synopsis of this book to learn what it is about. However, I will briefly describe a little of the story. This book takes place BEFORE Fallon’s story; even though Fallon’s story was book one. Amalie can see and speak with dead people, and because of this, her father believes she is defective. If you read the first book, “Touching Smoke,” you will remember that Garrison is Amalie’s father…and also a mad scientist. He has this research that he does that he believes will change the world. Well, it certainly changed Amalie’s world, that’s for sure – it changes her life for the worse. Poor Amalie is a helpless victim of her father’s cruel and unorthodox experiments and research. She is a prisoner in her own home and has to endure endless torture by the person that is supposed to protect her. Her only solace from all the abuse, and I mean EVERY kind of abuse, is her time with Isaiah. They were each other’s only friends…until they became more than friends. As you can guess, her father ruined that as well. Read “Touching Eternity” to learn Amalie and Isaiah’s story: the good times, the terrible times, and if it was possible to ever bring the good times back before it was too late for good.

Amalie was just an innocent little girl. She never did anything wrong and certainly never deserved to suffer from all the horrible things that happened to her. The anguish that poured off Amalie was so sad, and I felt so bad for her. I love when I get that connected to a character, and I definitely felt for her. I felt sad with what Amalie had to endure throughout her life, and I just wanted to save her when she became so terrified. The poor girl was dealt a bad hand in life and I wish that I had the power to change that for her. However, when Amalie smiled, the sky lit up! She is such a beautiful girl with her auburn hair and blue eyes and she should have spent her whole life happy and smiling all the time. Unfortunately, that was not always the case and she instead lived her life being terrified and hurt most of the time. The only time she was happy, was when she was with Isaiah. When Isaiah was not there, the torture was that much worse because she did not have him there to help take the pain away.

I fell in love with Isaiah in the first installment of the Touch series. He was a sexy, strong, and brave man that loved Fallon so much. “Touching Eternity” showed us a completely different side of Isaiah. He was still sexy, strong, and brave, but we met a different Isaiah this time. Of course, it was the same person but we were able to see who he was from the time he was a little boy. We learned more of his history, and I really liked that fact. Also, instead of reading about Isaiah and Fallon’s relationship…we read about Isaiah and Amalie’s relationship. I loved reading about their happy times together and hated to read about their bad times. I wanted them to have a happily ever after no matter what. I was routing for them throughout the whole story. Unfortunately for Isaiah, he was almost brainwashed when it came to Garrison. Garrison gave him everything in life, and saved him from the streets at just eight years old. He convinced Isaiah that he was helping Amalie because she was sick. Isaiah never really knew the torment that Amalie underwent, he thought that everything Garrison did was in Amalie’s best interest…plus he never was there when Amalie was tortured. Isaiah truly loved Amalie, and even if it hurt himself, he wanted to make sure that Amalie was okay and he really did have her best interest in his heart.

WOW! Just wow! “Touching Eternity” packed it on with the emotions! Oh man, did it have it all! I just enjoyed this book so much while reading it and it really made me feel. I loved Amalie and Isaiah! They were just fabulous and elicited so many reactions from me. I felt happy, sad, angry, shocked, and more. It was a whirlwind of feelings, and it was great! I would recommend “Touching Eternity” to people that read “Touching Smoke,” but keep in mind that this book is Adult…not YA. Also, I think this 5 STAR book will be great for readers that are looking for a book that leaves an impression…or if you are just looking for a great book! Check out Airicka Phoenix, and add her books to your To Be Read list. I will definitely continue to read this author’s work!

Touching Eternity is book 1.5 in the Touch Series by the amazing Airicka Phoenix. It tells the story of the mysterious Amalie and Isaiah from Book 1 Touching Smoke. When Isaiah comes home after school he is forced to face his demons, forced to face her. Amalie has had a hard year with Isaiah gone and the voices never stopping. Her father thinks she is crazy and as a doctor he has made it his life’s purpose to cure her of her illness using whatever barbaric means necessary. Isaiah sees the hurt that Amalie’s father is causing her and vows never to let anyone hurt her again. He tries to apologize but she is not ready to accept it. She is still bitter about Isaiah breaking her heart and leaving her alone in her own personal hell. Will Isaiah be able to win back her trust and save her from her father or will his loyalty to Dennison prove number one yet again.

This book was absolutely spectacularly amazing. I could not put it down and I loved every second of the addiction. Now we know the history that pulls Fallon and Isaiah together and it just gives you chills. Airicka really is amazing. Her ability to write you directly into the story had me looking over my shoulder for Garrison’s goons. She expertly crafts horrible, terrible actions near such beautiful and perfect moments you cannot help but breath a sigh of relief. You really begin to understand the inner workings of Isaiah and it helps to develop his character from book 1 perfectly. Airicka stubbornly refuses to answer all of the questions we had after Touching Smoke and even poses new ones after Touching Eternity that made me feel like an addict. I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment of the Touch Series to learn more about the bond between Fallon, Amalie and Isaiah.

Wow! Another amazingly written novel by Airicka Phoenix. Surgical always seems to amaze me, her work is magnificent. The creativity and detail she puts into her stories is always fascinating. Idly her words of Amelia and Isaiah cone alive as I was reading. I felt my emotions running, I cried, I was angry, and I even felt scared for the characters of what was about to happen at each turn of the page. There was never a dull moment, I was captivated by Touching Eternity. Airicka truly out did herself, I love this series and can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

the second book in the Touch series by Airicka Phoenix brings you back in time to Amalie's life with her father and her love story with Isaiah. Here's the kicker: while you may not need to have read the previous book in the series, it does give you an idea on the why's and the who's. Who is Isaiah? Why was he created? Who is Amalie? Why does Garrison do the things that he does towards Amalie? Who are the kids that Garrison creates? And why in the world does he do the things in the name of science?

There was a lot of questions answered in this book - it's a bit hard not to have had them answered when most of the questions i had following Touching Smoke all had to do with Amalie, Isaiah and Fallon and why them. It was also a story that was touching. Showed you what strength is and especially, shows you that monsters can be closer than anyone can have ever imagined. But most of all, it showed you how much a person can endure and just what it'll take to break them.

I don't know how these two ended up surviving as much as they did and at the same time, i can only chalk it up to love and seeing a future where things are better than the current situation that they are currently living. This is what Amalie and Isaiah are - hope.

Now that i know more about these two, Fallon and Isaiah make more sense. Their attraction to one another make more sense. And i can only think that Garrison is one real sadistic jerk who needs a real good reality check. This book was truly captivating and i really can't wait to dive in to the next instalment to get the rest of my questions answered.

"She was left to beg for mercy only to burn in torment again the next day. She was a weed struggling through cracks of concrete, unwanted, undesired, crushed and abused under trampling feet."

I spy two things:
1. The Gorgeous new cover
2. My GIFS are missing so let me update this review

Airicka Phoenix weaves a story of heartbreak and hopeless love

Note: This Book Can Be Read As A Standalone

Warning: This story does not have a happily-ever-after. The prince doesn't save the princess from the dragon. This is a heart-wrenching tale of loss and suffering. It contains psychological and physical abuse.

I cannot tell you how much this book has affected me. It has sucked me in a tornado of emotions and I couldn't stop tearing up all throughout the book. My emotions were all over the place:

description
______________________________________________
Now, let's dive in:

The heroine of this book has been vaguely introduced in Touching Smoke; she is the girl Fallon keeps dreaming about.

Meet Amalie Garrison ; a daughter shattered by the loss of her mother and left with her sadist of a father.

description

Amalie hears voices in her head; just like her mother did and her father is determined to "fix" her by any means necessary. He locks her up in her room; never permitting her to leave and forces her to endure a series of horrible experiments. He is a sadist SOB.

She would never see the sun. She would never be free. She would always be a solitary candle in the dark, cold without a flame to warm it, forever peering out at the world through a laminated sheet of glass too thick to penetrate. When she died, if she was ever allowed, no one would ever know. She would pass a faded ghost of a girl abandoned by all.”

description

Of course, under such horrible conditions, Amalie should go crazy but she holds into her sanity through her love to Issiah.

"I have never fought for anything in my life because I never had anything worth fighting for, but I was going to fight for you.”

Yes, the romance is a big part of the story. This is not insta-love. Their love evolves from friendship. It is sweet; it is beautiful; it is heart-breaking.

description

Now, the story shift from Amalie's POV to Issiah's. Issiah is an orphan taken by Amalie's father, Garrison, and raised as his own son. They grow up together as kids and they fall in love gradually.

description

“When I was eight, I found my best friend. Then, one day, I came home and she'd changed. During my absence, she'd become the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen in my life and I fell in love with her so completely that the very idea of ever being without her became an impossibility I couldn't stand. That same girl has always been the only one to ever hold my heart in her hands. She's the only one who can both build me and destroy me if she wishes and I wouldn't change that for anything. I can't live without her."

description

Issiah's character is complicated. He is loyal to Garrison. He is grateful that this man has taken him in. He believes that Garrison is only trying to help his daughter, and for that I hated him . He is confused; he doesn't know what to believe; whom to believe.

description

He is not entirely blinded, though. When he sees how Garrsion abuses his daughter, he revolts. He helps her the best he could, he plans their escape. He is desperately in love with her, and for that I loved him

“You’re home,” he whispered into her temple. “No matter what happens, you will always be home. I love you, Ams.”

description

“I don’t know how to dance!” she said.

His arms tightened around her when she tried to pull away. “Then just let me hold you.”

description

Garrsion is the definition of the mad scientist. He believes he can FIX his daughter when there is nothing wrong with her!!!! He puts her throng TONS of abuse. He is a monster ; he is the WORST. I HATE him so much I might choke on it. JUST DIE ALREADY, YOU SOB!!!!!!!!!!

description

Now, I am NOT gonna talk about the ending because, because...........

description

description

description

The ending wrecked me.................

Touching Eternity (Touch 1.5)
By : Airicka Phoenix
Reviewed by : Krystal
Stars : 5 BIG HUGE SPARKLY STARS

I don't think 5 stars is nearly enough for this book. For any of Airicka's writing actually. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Airicka Phoenix is truly talented. She has a way with words like no other I've ever read before. She paints such a perfectly vivid picture in your mind it's hard not to see every single detail as though it's on a big screen in front of your eyes. Her words are poetic & she is in a class all on her own above and beyond any author I have ever come across.
When I first read Touching Smoke I was hooked, and completely mesmerized by the words I read. Her words pull you in right from the very first sentence all the way to the last word. With Touching Eternity she has done it again! She didn't just write a story, she created a work of art.
Touching Eternity is a dark and twisted tale, it's raw and emotional. I highly recommend this book and all of Airicka's other works.
While it is not necessary to read Touching Smoke to understand Touching Eternity, I highly recommend you do. Touching Eternity is Amalie's story, while Touching Smoke is Fallon's story. TE is a stand alone novel. It is not recommended to those under 18 due to violence, drugs, abuse and suicide.
While it is a very dark tale and very tragic it has a beautiful love story and some amusing parts to it. It's an extremely well written and all around great story. I love all of Airicka's creations and definitely think you should give this story a try.

Airicka has a way with descriptive words that is amazing, they captivated me from the first sentence! It has me crying but I think I feel for Amalie is because it hits kinda close to home.My heart went out to both Amalie and Isaiah. The themes written in this story are harsh but it does happen everyday even though we don't see it.I truly enjoyed reading this book.It takes a lot of courage to write books like this and I applaud Airicka for venturing out and writing it. I am still reeling from the ending!
Isaiah promised never to leave Amalie but he broke that promise. Now he has to find a way to reconcile that wrong decision, but it isn't going to be easy to face the woman whose heart he broke.Garrison,Amalie's father is trying to cure her of mental illness.Isaiah believes her father has he best interest at heart. In actuality,Garrison only cares about his research.Thing start to unravel as Garrison is scrutinized by his colleagues. Isaiah must f=ind a way to protect Amalie at all cot,but will that cost mean someone loses their life?

Airicka makes you use every emotion possible and then some with Touching Smoke.

This was definitely a book that pissed you off, made you cry and jump from one side to the other in who to believe, love and hate.

Was Terrell really trying to help his daughter? Did he kill his wife, was he mad or a true genius.
Isaiah a boy taken in when he had no one believed so in the man who gave him his life back. Loyalty of that little boy as he grew into a man. His best friend, the only friend, became the love of his life. Would he question Garrison's intentions as to whether he was sane, mad or a genius.
Was Amlie mad, or did she truly have a gift that no one including her father understood.

Airicka grabs you and doesn't let go, even when you read the words "the end" you're left questioning everything you've read.

So... Do you dare? YES!

*****I received an ARC of this book****
Wow is all I can think of to say after finishing this book. Airicka Phoenix did an amazing job with this book. This book drew me in from the start and took me on an emotional roller coaster. I fell in love with Amelia and Isiah and hated Garrison. I was not sure of Derrick to begin with but I am glad he turned out to have a good heart for all that got him. I really had hoped for a different ending but we will see how the story progresses from here. I can not wait for the next one to come out. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I loved, I cried and I hated when reading this book, which makes it a sign of a good book in my opinion.

When I first started reading this book, I wasn't sure how it was going to be, but the more I kept reading, I noticed that I didn't want to put it down for a second. I wanted to keep reading more and more.
The story is amazing, so many twists. A story where true love can make you do things you never imagined, Isaiah proved it time and time again. One of my new favorite books, I liked it so much, I definetly will enjoy reading it over again, thank you...

Have you ever read a book and known the ending to it?
Have you ever wished that you were wrong?
I wish that I was wrong.
I wish that I could change the past and rewrite the future.
I also wish that I could escape with the Doctor and travel through Space and Time but that probably won't happen in the next week, I am still crossing my fingers for next week though ;)

Alright so (this is the THIRD time i started this review, i might kill my computer... anyways) So Touching Eternity is this sort of prequel but not quite sort of in the middle of the Touch Series by Airicka which is amazing and you should go read that by the way. Would I read this before the first book in the Touch Series? Touching Smoke?.... UM, maybe. I am having a debate with myself. On one hand it would be really interesting to seen it be read in that order, but when i started this series this book had yet to come out, so there is that. But for someone else, i think it could be really interesting, also A TAD, maybe A LITTLE confusing... so with that said I will try my DARNEST and a HALF to keep this spoiler free of the first book Touching Smoke, kay? kay.

Song Choice: I have a few, so BWHAHAHAHA "Sleep" by My Chemical Romance,
"Speechless" by Lady Gaga, "Sleeping Sickness" by City and Colour featuring Gordon Downie, and (also no this book doesn't have to do with sleep i realize that two of the songs have sleep in them but no...its not about sleeping, it might deprive you of sleep because you MUST FINISH IT. ) and finally nope this one doesn't have sleep in the title, sad i know either way: "We Looked Like Giants" by Death Cab For Cutie

Kay for the review....damn i was hoping i would have more time for this. Alright first thoughts: It was simply put beautiful. I had never hoped for something so hard. I wished for the ending to change from page one to page well 100% because i read this via ebook. My advice is to breathe. I will not promise you anything. I can't. Sorry. What I can promise you though is a very, amazingly written without being to brutal to the readers mind story about struggle, and a whole new meaning of courage.

Thoughts on plot....

Plot: Now this is a much different tone than Touching Smoke. If you don't know Touching Smoke this is a very serious, very heart-wrenching story. While we don't have car chases and um explosions i am trying to think of other normal action like moments in action movies. It does not mean this is not um how do i put this...drama filled. I am bad at this because this seemed literally it was pretty much a contemporary fiction for those you have never read the Touch Series that is what it seemed like. so almost contemporary fiction with a centimeter of "other". There is a lot of psychological abuse in this, don't know what i mean by that? well don't worry i am still trying to figure out how to put it without spoiling anything. Amalie's told she is crazy but i think anyone in her position would become crazy, only she isn't. But there is a lot that happens to her, this isn't a story about rainbows and butterflies, this is a story where you are going to need to pull up your big girl panties (or big boy pants), admit to yourself you aren't going to cry, but most likely you will, and hold onto that small piece of yourself that wants all to be well in the world. Sometimes stories aren't pretty, sometimes stories hurt so much that you can only hope for a little glimmer of light in the darkness.

Thoughts on characters:

When I started this book I thought this was going to be Amalie's story. Her story only. I was a fool. This story belongs to three people. So let me go on.

Amalie: She has a new type of courage, the courage to live when she has nothing to live for. If being broken-hearted wasn't enough this girl is put through the wringer times a thousand. I literally wanted her to escape the only way she could. I do NOT, EVER, ever, ever, condone taking one's life, not in books, not in real life. So if you ever thought about it, well guess what there is someone's life whose is probably worse than yours, Amalie's for example. I hated myself, but if she could find peace there, God dammit. I wanted so much for her. In the end (not the end of this book, no spoilers here :| ) in the end she showed a different type of strength. Maybe she might seem weak to a certain reader but to me she was one of the strongest MC's that i have come across in a very long time.

Isisah: GRRR. that is all. nah just kidding! i will give you more than that. GRRRRRRRRR. there. fine i will tell you more than GRRRRR. sheesh calm down i was just messing with you. but still GRRR. this is hard. At first I honest to God wanted to hate him. I'm being honest here. I wanted to hate him, no actually I did hate him. He just UGH. But he does redeem himself, and boy does he redeem himself. We all have faults don't we? we are allowed to make mistakes... and he does. he really does make some really bad mistakes. but ohh poor Isisah. I found that i couldn't hate him once we got more of his story, and more of his POV.

you want some of there moments together? Sure ya do, you do because i demand it!

“Amalie…” Her name was a single whispered prayer pouring from his lips. It gasped out as if it had been lodged in his chest for centuries, expanding and tightening until he just couldn’t hold it in any longer.

This was theirs. Whatever happened between the times he came home no longer existed, they were no longer important. He was home. He was with her again. She wasn’t alone anymore. She wasn’t scared.

And they can be as pretty as they want. They can never make my heart stop the way you do.” Hope, bright and sparkly, leapt into her chest, pushed its way up to burst from her lips in a squeal of delirious joy. She stopped it.
“But—” His finger ghosted her lips.
“No buts. Ever. There is no one that can make me look into their eyes and see the rest of my life. Only you.”

Garrison: *my eye is twitching right now* kay have you ever seen Game of Thrones? No go watch that, yes? you know how much you hate Joffrey well you will hate Garrison more. If you haven't seen GOT than have you ever seen Beauty and the Beast, you know how much you hated Gaston yeah well Garrison is like a million and times worse. I don't think there are enough words to describe how much i hated this man. He literally was probably the perfect villain. For me the most dangerous villain is a villain that himself believes in his own lies. The worse part, is I am pretty sure he doesn't even realize that he is doing harm, i honest to God believe that he thinks what he doing is okay, that it is right. seriously he is just f-ed up. So another thing about Garrison was that i did NOT want to read in his POV i didn't want to be swayed in any direction that might be his. I didn't want to understand his crazy, and all that jazz but i loved the book more for having it. I really do. In order to write in his POV and his parts, wow seriously wow.

Kay so this next little bit is for people have read the Touching Smoke series, it has spoilers, like legit spoilers so please don't read if you don't want to know.

The ending. Nope. I won't. Thank you though.

As I was reading Touching Smoke there were bits that described some of what Fallon and Isaiah had been through, their history together and where it all began. I say touch because it was nothing like what I experienced reading this book. Touching Eternity is amazing, it goes back and gives us readers the ultimate, descriptive story about the beginning. The back story I should say. It touches on all the why's of Amalie and Isaiah past and history together.

The story is very detailed, descriptive, easy to imagine all that the story has to offer from beginning to end. In detail everything Garrison had done to Amalie, and as her father he should never have done half of what he did. The pain and torture her father put her through. A madman, a very weak word to describe Garrison. The thought of self blame, as Amalie blames herself rather than blaming her father for everything. Isaiah, oh my Isaiah, her only hope, the love she learns she has for him, her anchor, her very breath of life.

“I won't fall for you again. I won't let you hurt me again. Stay away, Isaiah. Go back to...whatever her name was! She can have you.” ~ Amalie

The choices Isaiah has to make, decisions that will change his life forever! To follow his dreams or to stay with the woman he loves... I just love Isaiah, his character is just everything that a male character should be, especially in this story. He's Amalie's everything, and to leave her could mean her death at the hands of a madman. How can he ever let her down, ever turn away from her, ever choose to be without her. Oh the choices Isaiah must make... The thoughts of where he could be in life keep him distracted, thoughts that should be of where he is headed and what he has to do for his love.

'There was no one else. There never was. He would have fallen to his knees right there and then and confessed it all, but she was running away from him.' ~ Isaiah

I loved every minute of the story. Learning the history of Amalie and Isaiah allows for me to move forward with ease to what will come next. I cannot wait to see where the author takes Fallon and Isaiah in her next installment of the Touch Series. I want more twists and turns, mystery and suspense, energy and speed. I love reading a page turner that takes me to a new place, I've never been before. I will be following Author Airicka Phoenix in her journey of writing & publishing, reading her stories as she continues to write them.

Wow, how to begin. In this prequel to The book, Touching Smoke, We get to see how Isaiah and Amalie came to be. Their history, their past, their lives. It's brutal and beautiful at the same time. Amalie's mother was special and so is Amalie, unfortunately Amalie's father sees her gift as a mental illness and is consumed with finding a way to make it disappear. Isaiah is an orphan boy that her father picked out of the gutter as a child, brought home, and raised. Isaiah is completely loyal to Garrison, believing he only does what is needed to help people. Isaiah loves Amalie and she loves him, when Isaiah is away at school things tend to spiral for her. In the course of trying to cure Amalie, her father subjects her to emotional and physical abuse that borders on grotesque, the scariest thing is that he truly believes he is helping her. "She was a weed struggling through cracks of concrete, unwanted, undesired, crushed and abused under trampling feet." He is not her only abuser, it seems there is no place for her to hide from potential attack, she is at the complete mercy of her abusers. Confined to her room, there is no place to run or hide. She is a shell of a girl and can barely function after what has been done to her. Isaiah is back and this time, he is here to stay. He wants to find out what is happening to Amalie, but in doing so, he is going to find out so much more than he bargained for, things he almost can't mentally deal with. The guilt and anguish may be too much for him to bear. This book is brutal, dark, sad, lovely, all of these things, in a necessary way, you need to know this history and abuse to understand the characters. I was completely absorbed in the story from page one and didn't put it down until finished. Their love story, family dynamics, and the cruelty endured by the characters is mind boggling to say the least. Having said that, I wouldn't recommend this to very young tweens. This is a must read book by a very talented author. The only negative thing that I have to say is, "Now I have to wait for the next book." Go buy it now, it is fantastic.

I was given this story by the author in exchange for my honest review.
As I started to read her story, I was thrown into a world of insanity. Amalie, the little girl that is crazy, just like her mom. As I continued to read, I felt many emotions toward the characters. I wanted to stab her father with a needle. The love of her life left her. The tutor got what he deserved. Most of all, I felt so sad for Amalie. Her whole world was turned upside down when she saw the horrid that was happening to her mom by someone she trusted and loved so much. He kept telling them they were crazy and had to be treated by a doctor. Amalie saw her mom take her own life right in front of her eyes. Left alone to her dad, he was ready to get the treatment his daughter so desperately needed. He thought it was the right thing to do. Amalie was hurt in so many ways. By so many people she trusted. She started to think she was going crazy. She was forced to stay to her room like a lab rat. Armed guards watching her every move. No one knew the torture she endured everyday from test that were suppose to make her normal. The love of her life returns. She doesn't know how to feel anything but anger towards him. He left her. He left her to these people to hurt her. Isaiah always told her she was not crazy, that she had a gift.
I can go on and on, but you'll have to get your own copy to see what happens to Amalie. The author did a great job. I like the way she did the chapters. Each one was labeled as the main character in that chapter. I never got confused as to which character was talking. She made me feel everything the characters in her book were feeling. Like I was there. I didn't get bored at any part of this this book.
Thank you, Airicka Phoenix, I truly enjoyed this book and truly honor.

Grab your tissues before you read this one...you're going to need them....

I need like 5 more stars to add to my rating....

Touching Smoke was one of the best books that I've read in a long time. So, to hold me over until Touching Fire to continue Fallon and Isaiah's story, I had to read Touching Eternity. To get the back story of Amalie and Isaiah, to hopefully understand Garrison's crazy. And you know what....I've never been touched in such a way by a book. I mean it.

There were so many times that I felt physically nauseous reading this one. Reading about how Garrison treated people...what he did to his own daughter...all in the name of "science"....

I do have to say that amidst all the ugly in this book....Airicka wrote one of the most beautiful love stories that I've ever read. The love that Isaiah felt for Amalie was strong, intense, and beautiful. He accepted her for everything that she was....no matter how "crazy" everyone said she was...told him she was....he stuck around. Until Garrison had to screw it up....damn him....I have NEVER wanted to see a character hurt as much as I would LOVE to see Garrison hurt....

And if you loved Isaiah from Touching Smoke - and were as amazed as I was to learn about THAT Isaiah....you will be amazed at the similarities between them. How Airicka has worked in so many of the same traits - down to the words that they say to Amalie and Fallon...

Airicka has given us a gift with this book. It was eye opening, gut wrenching, heart stirring, awesomeness with a side order of OH MY WOW....

Read it, LOVED LOVED LOVED it, reviewed it....

Ok. I'm gonna write this quick. Just like pulling a bandaid. I just finished this wonderfully worded book. So full of emotion and depth. I already knew what was going to happen from reading Touching Smoke but knowing did not prepare me for the emotional roller coaster waiting for me in this book. Airicka Phoenix has a way with words that drew me in so deadly that I am totally at a loss right now. The love Isaiah and Amalie had was so strong no torture or cruelty could stop. Garrison was a cruel and heartless man who was more psychotic than any of the patients he had in his lab and the things he did to his own daughter.. I just can't even express. This man could not even begin to understand anything about Amalie. she was special, gifted even but he would not accept that. No, she was sick and he had to save her from her disease. Stupid stupid man. He could not see how bringing Isaiah in was the best thing for him and Amalie. she needed Isaiah and he needed her but with her bodyguard Derrick watching her all the time what else could they do. Derrick wasn't like the other guards though. He seemed nice and in the end proved his worth.
All I have to say right now is this book was worth the read. I'm still caught up in the emotions left from the ending and I'm sure I will be dreaming about this tonight but I am glad that I was able to read this. Thank you Airicka. You brought me into the lives of your characters and showed me a part of your writing that I am so great full for. Omg!

This book quite literally almost broke me!!

I really wanted to read this to find out the background of Garrison, Isaiah and Amalie...to see what made all the characters tick in Touching Smoke. I have to be honest, that some of the stuff that happens in the book made is so difficult for me to read, that I had to go for a few days before even being able to pick it up again. (Not that it wasn't on my mind.) Now, I need to explain that it's not horribly sick or twisted, there's no horrible, ghastly language in it...Airicka did a very tasteful job of getting her story across and making her points, without crossing any lines and making a reader extremely uncomfortable. The ONLY reason this book had a profound effect on me was because of past experiences, not quite as extreme as Amalie's, but still...it touched me in ways that may not touch another reader.

This being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the tender moments between Isaiah and Amalie. This is why I poured myself back into the book over and over. I love being able to see into each individuals head every other chapter and see what they were thinking and feeling, live their memories w/them...and the few glimpses we were able to get of Amalie's mother. Though they were a little sad, they were a treat, in a way, to see that her mother did indeed love her...the bed scene took my breathe away. Due to the content of the book, I'd recommend to older readers, but I would recommend it. Great job, Airicka...you leave no emotion untouched. :)

I can completely understand why this novella is for anyone 18 years and over due to the issues raised! For a novella this book was actually very long! I think that Touching Eternity was a perfect addition to the Touch Series and I loved that you got to see what some of the characters were like before the events of Touching Smoke! The plot of this novella was very sad! I nearly cried at several scenes! The issues raised in this book for me where pretty difficult to read but I felt that they were written amazingly and they were executed brilliantly! I loved that this novella was told from Isaiah, Amalie and Garrison's point of views as it helped you understand what each character was going thorough and their feelings at certain scenes! It also let you see the characters in a new perspective! Amalie was such an amazing character! My heart went out to her for what she endured during the course of this book but she was an amazingly strong character! After falling in love with Isaiah in Touching Smoke I couldn't wait to read more about him in Touching Eternity! I loved him in this novella! He was perfect with Amalie and I felt so sorry for him for him at the end of the novella! The ending of this book was so sad! I couldn't believe what Garrison did! I am really looking forward to seeing where the next book in the Touch series goes and Touching Eternity helps you to understand the events of Touching Smoke perfectly! The cover is also stunning!

I......Don't know how to start this review...I mean what can I say after reading such a...sad? depressing? No, heart wrenching, sorrow filled and heart breaking book. I had no idea this book could be this heart braking and I seriously wouldn’t have read it if I had known. Basically I don’t read heart-breaking books because I am a romantic at heart and because I tear up too easily and then I remain depressed for weeks after the book...This book was a mistake....I don’t even know how to rate it...i mean can you love a heart breaking story?? Can you actually say "I loved it!!"? no I don’t think you could...
This book was well written and the characters were beautiful. The story was heart-breakingly beautiful. I cried several times during the book. I couldn’t help it...and if I am honest these tears were different. I've cried on some other books too (especially on the fault in our stars, allegiant, November nine, maybe someday and a kingdom of dreams ;as far as I can remember) but these tears were different. I didn’t feel so depressed after reading the other books...and now? ..even though I knew what the end was in this book (I did not know the ending of The Fault In Our Stars) I still cried. And now I am depressed. I can't recommend this book to anyone but I can't NOT recommend it either...just...exceedingly depressing.

Touching Eternity~

Let me start by saying, that I loved this book too! The Touch Series has landed on "My Fav Series" shelf and with good reason.

For those of you who have read Touching Smoke, You kind of know what you ared geatting into before you start to read this. It is much darker than the Touching Smoke.

In Touching Eternity we travel back to Amalie and her life. Even though I knew how her story would end, I still had a hard time putting down the book. You can't help but love Amalie.

Airicka did a wonderful job with this one too. I felt almot everything Amalie did. She was scared, I was scared for her. When she was upset I cried with her. This is an emotional roller coaster and I refused to get off. I had to know...Did she ever get to feel love again? Would she ever get to be happy?

And of course, Airicka delivered that well too!
Thank you Airicka Phoenix for another good read and I would say that if you haven't (and can handle it) you should read this. It is a stand alone in this series, but it is nice to know how they got where they are and how Fallon gets brought into this crazy world!

Another winner from author Airicka Phoenix.

After reading Touching Smoke, the debut novel in the Touch Series, I had high hopes for this story and Airicka did not disappoint. This is a must read for fans of the series!

In this book, we peek back in time, watching as Isaac and Amalie struggle to survive manipulation and torture at the hands of the evil Mr. Garrison. Airicka does an amazing job of sucking you into the story until your stomach will knot and your muscles will clench with tension. Be forewarned that you will envision the torment and torture young Amalie goes through. But by doing so, you will come to understand the draw between Fallon and Isaiah in Touching Smoke, as well as, grasp the utter depravity that is Mr. Garrison.

While this story is not for the faint of heart, I highly recommend adults who enjoy the Touch Series read it. Just like in Touching Smoke, there was never a dull moment in the story. Airicka is an amazing author who can weave a story like a master. I adore this series and am looking forward to Touching Fire.

Oh man! How do I start this review?! First off...holy smokes! Where does Airicka come up with this stuff?!?! So dark and twisted...I wanted to jump into the book and strangle Amalie's father myself. To be locked away by someone who is supposed to protect you and chase away the boogie man only to find out that HE IS the boogie man...

Amalie suffers abuse and torture at the hands of her father, a supposed doctor trying to cure her of her illness by "testing" on her. She suffers at the hands of her tutor for a year and even after telling her father about it, only to have him NOT believe her...that's tragic. And talk about tragic....the ending! I'm not spoiling that for you!

Airicka is so good at what she does. She tells the story from all perspectives to give the feel for everything and everyone in the scene. I truly hope that there is more from this series and that this isn't the end.

Okay, you don't have to read Touching Smoke first to understand this book, but I would really recommend that you do.

I read Touching Smoke first and sort of thought this one was the 'sequel' and boy was I wrong- and right. Sort of.

I already loved Airicka's writing but now I love how she can tie two different stories in the same world together.

I personally don't go over the plot, I think readers should get to read it for themselves. But I will say this book was well written, the characters were genuine and real and it was so different from so many other books out there.

If you like young adult paranormal series but want something fresh, check this book out! But check out Touching Smoke first.

4.5 out of 5 I really enjoyed this book and the background it gave with Amalie and Isaiah. It really gave me a lot of insight into the characters from Touching Smoke. My only problem with it was the abrupt ending. Even though I think I understood what happened, I would have liked some more detail. Given the plot line in the previous book I assume this is the end of Amalie and Isaiah's story so I would've liked some more detail as to what happened. However, I am really looking forward to the next book!
