A wonderful short story. It felt like those phenomenal classical love stories 😭
The shortest story I've ever read but it did not fail to pack a punch. I've cried so many times 🥺. Idk if it's just me but maybe it's BC I know beforehand that it has a tragedy tag, which is why I sense a sorrowful undertone. Nonetheless, it left a profound impact on me 💘

Rating: 3/5 - I read this a while back and it was decent. Although not mind blowing.

I remembered this book without re-reading it, which is something. Also I liked the "message" of this book - sincerity and simplicity is good. Nothing against it and staying in your lane.
[Why ugh is it ~always the FL is "stupid" cuz a fever ruined her and rendered her slightly delayed mentally.] Sigh.
Really like the guy she ended up with - am always team upgrade.
May re-read it in the future but would re-read a few of the other shorts instead/ahead of it.

C1 yesss Queen, realizing reality, only asking trash ass ex who ascended to heal her dog.
Then (too lazy to do/fix quote punctuation)
“I stopped Aunt Zhao, the matchmaker, who was also about to leave:
"Aunt Zhao, do me a favor."
"What is it?"
"Find me a husband," I said seriously. "One who is good-looking and honest, who won't abandon his wife and children after becoming successful."”
Boo Zhao refusing but
Lololol “I sighed, a bit regretful for saving Da Huang.
Had I known, I would have asked Xie Wu Chen to find me a husband.”
Uh oh P2c4 “I was focused, not noticing the enormous shadow of a beast reflected on the wall, trying to engulf me whole. “ … oh well as long as he loves her and is nice to her? (Also what is with these authors and their mentally disabled FL’s?!)
P3c5 huh FL Li ZhenZhu has no memory before age 5? Plus that fever that burned too hot? Oh no it was a plague that did it & it even killed her parents
P5c9 😱😱😱 nooo Shen TongGuang is a cat deity who wants to eat FL’s heart?!
C11 oh no he really does want to eat her heart and she knows he’s a demon and doesn’t care. And has agreed twice. Yikes.
O.o end of story - 2nd wedding. STG saying he’ll eat FL’s heart once she’s old and about to die and (“ascend”?) - waiting for her soul? 🤷🏻♀️
Oof extra 1, the asshole ex:
“I suddenly understood why Li Zhen Zhu would be my love tribulation.
It turned out that the pure innocence that fools are born understanding is something that the wise must spend a lifetime to grasp.”
Hm I liked ML waited for FL in his extra but felt their ~reunion was just kinda meh
