"6th novel in the Conan Flagg series. The Oregon detective is investigating the mysterious death of his friend Corey Benbow. The police were asking too few question about the automobile accident that claimed the young woman's life. More than one person stood to gain from her death. Flagg needed to disprove the accidental death verdict."
Martha Kay Renfroe was an Oregon writer, author of mystery and science fiction under the penname M.K. Wren. Her work included the "Conan Flagg" mystery series and the post-apocalyptic novel A Gift Upon the Shore, set along the Oregon coast.
This book in the Conan Flagg series is set in a fictional version of Lincoln City, OR. Conan’s friend (and at one time, possible love interest) Corey Benbow dies in a seemingly accidental death. But she was part of a pro-environmental group seeking to save coastal land from the evil development folks, including her in-laws, so something seems wrong to Conan who avenges her death with a vigilant search for justice.
This was a slow burn. I didn't relate to the characters and the pace was less then exciting. I did like the ending and the last chapter was the best in the book.
