Rate this book
An early-morning car accident threatens to unravel the lives of many.

Jefferson Beale, a former minister, heads up a non-profit that helps impoverished families in third world countries. While his wife is away, he spends the evening with a female escort half his age. On his way home, he runs over someone riding a bicycle. He can stop and help the injured person, certain to ruin his life, or he can leave the scene.

When Jefferson drives away, the injured bike rider, Terry Larson, calls his boss, Colin Henry, for help. Terry has twenty-five thousand reasons in his backpack not to call 911.

A teenage boy kills himself, and the father hires, Linus Walker, a private detective, to find the dealer who sold his son the drugs. The investigation leads him to Terry Larson, who is missing. Terry’s mother hires Linus to find her son.
