Simple Guide to The Hebrew Bible

Rate this book
This book provides clear understanding of how the Bible came to be written. It is a remarkable and fascinating book of 'discovery', an 'historical journey' into the history and significance of the books of the Bible (the 'Old Testament', but principally the 'building blocks' of Exodus and Genesis).

It gives a clear account of how they were produced, where the writers found their information (where did the stories come from? who were the 12 Tribes?) in the first place, the identity of some of the writers, and who later actually did some editing, and how much is original and how much is not.It gives a time-frame of when and how this 'Bible Collection' of books was eventually put together. The story begins around 4000 years ago when the term 'Habiru', originally used by the Egyptians to describe outsiders, was later associated with the Hebrew people who settled in Canaan (later referred to as Palestine by the Greeks), and ends during the period of the Roman occupation when in 135AD the last Biblical material was collected and collated.

A compact guide that slips easily into a pocket, handbag or briefcase with a neat layout for easy reading. Contains illustrations and photographs.
