★★★★★! Inner Core, book 2 of 2. The conclusion of Daniel Stark & Haley’s captivating courtship with shockers & surprises, reflection & growth!

“It’s like I did something really god damn fucking virtuous in a past life to be rewarded with you.”

Books in Stark Series should be read in order:
Book 1: Layers
Book 2: Inner Core

Layers (book 1) is the story of recent College graduate Hayley Grace who while job searching met and started dating the CEO and founder of Stark Software, billionaire Daniel Stark.

Haley, recently sworn off casual hock-ups but alert to the way the game is played, wasn’t that interested. Daniel stepped up his game and so an interesting and captivating relationship ensued. They were slowly peeling off each other’s layers only to have their world come crashing down by the pressure of dating a famous billionaire…..

Inner Core (book 2) picks up right after the shocking cliffy at end of book 1. Daniel and Hayley are trying to put the incident behind them. Follow in a stage of bliss as they continue on their journey of getting to know each and deepening their bond.

But soon their world is rocked by a shocker and later danger that threatens everything. It is going to take a lot of work to get past it. Having peeled the layers down to the core of what they are and have; Are they willing and able to fight for what they built?

DANIEL STARK: 34 years/Founder & CEO Stark Software Technologies/$$$$/blond hair/hazel eyes/6’3”/tattoo/scars.

Daniel Stark was an captivating and memorable hero and saw growth in him throughout! Seven words to describe Daniel: visionary, commanding, impulsive, reflective, flawed, caring and captivating.

“Here it is, Hales, a rare glance at Daniel’s inner core. Rough, violent, powerful, emotional, kind, and … hurt.”

 photo LegRbysb_zpsfee0574a.gif
 photo csbysb_zpsf851a634.gif

HAYLEY J. GRACE, HALES: 25 years/recent College graduate/Creative Director’s assistant/illustrator/blond hair/brown eyes/5’6”.

Hayley Grace, Hales is not as compelling of a heroine, but she is perfect for Daniel and she proved it time and time again. She also evolved and grew up. Seven words to describe Hayley: Broken, naïve, cocky, bold, opinioned, charming and lovable.

“She is perfect, she is everything I didn’t even know I wanted, and so much more.”

The first half of Inner Core moved a long a peaceful pace, but once their world was turned upside down I was hooked yet again. The story was interesting and intriguing from then all the way to the perfect end! Just as with book 1 there were a few logistics issues such as research of time zones, red eye flight only going west to east etc. But in the end there wasn’t enough to deduct from the overall rating.

Interesting plot! Unexpected shockers! Sexy and captivating hero! Evolving hero and heroine! Entertaining side characters! An excellent series! I am highly recommending!

“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams."

Review
Ohhhhh….I have been holding off on this review because I’m so torn to love it…..or to hate it.  Can you guess who it is that I love? Yup, Daniel – he fucking ROCKS!! I would give my left tit to be with a guy like that and what does Hales do??  She whines, she pushes, she annoys the freak out of me.  Poor, poor Daniel – I’m thinking maybe he is hard of hearing?

He was the perfect heart swooning guy in this episode (except for one little mess up) and by Hayley’s reaction you would have thought he killed her little pussy!  OK – that’s enough bitching about Hayley for now….on with the review.

There were times I thought the story slowed down and then there were times that I couldn’t peel my eyes away from my book (aka phone).  All in all, this was a spectacular ending to the Stark story!  Everything rolled up very nicely in the end…..but you know what my most favorite part of the book (aka see above) was?  It was Daniel’s POV in the Epilogue at the end.  OMG….I could have DIED!!

Re-Cap
We pick up where Layers ended….Hayley and Daniel are kaputz – well not for very long.  Daniel travels to Hayley’s parents house to beg for forgiveness and get Hayley back.

Things progress rapidly for them, not with the help of Hayley though….with every turn, she is pushing Daniel away and second guessing their relationship.  Then – HOT DAMN – Hayley finds out about a transgression of Daniel’s and she bolts (yet again).

And again, Daniel comes begging for another chance.  I think I’ll end the story here so you can read and find out what happens next and how many obstacles these younguns’ must face for their HEA.

Wrap-Up
I want a Daniel – nuff said!

MY THOUGHTS

This time the book starts off in Chicago.

description

Remember? Hayley left San Francisco and Daniel after he accused her of betraying him by selling his story to the press.
It's been 2 weeks now and Hayley is miserable. To top it all off there was a suicide bomb close to where her brother is stationed and they haven't heard anything yet.
The night before she finally broke down and tried to call Daniel, but the phone died on her...that's how we left things in book #1 ☺
After hearing what maybe happened to Hale's brother Daniel uses his contacts in Washington to find out about Steven.
And now he's standing in front of Hayley at her parents' house in Chicago.

Hayley is overjoyed but she's still scared of the future - and first of all she wants Daniel to apologize for blaming her.
Which, surprisingly, he does. ☺
Everythig could be back to normal now.
Hayley might think it's going too fast again - because already he's asked her to move in again!

But first he has to meet THE PARENTS ☺
Hayley's mom seems to immediately like him, but her Dad ☺☺☺

description

Mr. Grace only knows that his little girl came to Chicago all sad and full of heartbreak and he doesn't want this guy to hurt her any more.

Not a good time to tell him about the 'sexy time' they just had in her old bedroom? ☺☺☺

description

Back in San Francisco.

description

LOTS of sexy times for Daniel & Hayley of course.

But she refuses to move in with him. It's just too soon.

But fate is working against her: her best friend Ian has been thrown out of his apartment and needs a place to stay....aka her room ☺

That's how Hayley ends up moving in with D. ☺

description

Daniel is very busy with a deal he's trying to work out.
Every time they talk Daniel seems to want to tell her something, but he never does.
Hayley and we, the readers, are a bit worried now!

Hale's other best friend Natasha is newly in love and sooo happy.
BUT - as it turns out, not only did her new guy Brad have sex with Hayley ages ago. He's also Daniel's worst enemy!
Not the most perfect situation for any of them!

Haley & Daniel quickly get used to living in the same house - BUT everything is not all that easy. There are problems coming from all directions.

There will be very SAD and very suspensy moments...

description

But we know they both belong together - they just need to overcome all their problems and find their happy ever after...

"I'm not playing Hales. I am all in, baby.....Like I said before, I found the one."

Will they make it?
I'm not telling you of course ☺☺☺

I really enjoyed it.

I really loved the first book - LAYERS - and this second book was just as great.
The only thing missing was the third book ☺ I would've loved to read more about Daniel & Hayley ☺

But INNER CORE was perfect.
Yes, you want to do this with one or more of the characters a few times...

description

but pfff ☺ that's part of the story ☺

We meet all those great people again: Ian, Tasha and of course Hales & DANIEL ♥♥♥

It's funny, sexy, erotic, sad, moving, scary! PERFECT!

I'm really sad that it's over now ☺ but it was really great!

We learned to love Daniel & Hayley in LAYERS and in INNER CORE we get to know them even better - all their fears and inner and outer scars and all their problems. It's just a joy to read how they 'fight' their way to a HEA ☺

If you like sexy & interesting & moving Romances....
GO AND BUY THOSE 2 STARK BOOKS
...you won't regret it.

I'm really excited to read what comes out of Sigal's computer/head/typewriter next ☺

"the best thing about me is you"

Inner Core was the continuation of Daniel and Hayley's story, when their whirlwind romance came crashing down on them, it was time to pick up the pieces and try to rebuild something stronger. Just because she may have welcomed him back into her life, it is still miles away from what they had. Daniel has no clue how to make it up to Hayley and stops at nothing but to set things right and get her trust back.
"Yes my beloved, severe nut-job, I knew quite early on in our relationship that concern, shame, obedience, social graces and etc. are not exactly your best assets."

Hayley sees that part of the problem is not the lack of trust but her own insecurities ,is it something she can ever overlook, or are they just doomed this time around.
"I, Hayley—wasn’t ready because I suffer from severe head damage when it comes to commitment.”

After all of Daniel's layers are pealed away, we get to know the him beneath it all, his inner core of the man he truly is. No more secrets, no more walls between them, just Daniel and Hayley stripped bare. Their story puts a unique spin on the tormented billionaire, with the addition of a commitment-phob heroine. Her best friends were epic and just the exact friends you wish you had. Scared to lose who she is to this intense man, she has to find the balance to be who she is meant to be with the man she is meant to be with. Fantastic ending to their romance.

An incredible emotional roller that even after reading the words "The End" left me wanting more. Ehrlich nailed it!

Even though the first book of the Stark series, Layers, felt like the illegitimate child of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Gray and Sylvia Day’s The Crossfire series (I’m quoting my my dearest friend and collaborator because I agree with her on this point Ceci's Layers review), I think Ehrlich got this one right.

While billionaire romance stories aren’t new, Inner Core made me feel “emotionally saturated,” in a “constant state of suspended anxiety” with the ups and downs Daniel and Hayley faced. I truly enjoyed Ehrlich’s writing style, her descriptions and phrases conveyed sentiments in a very palpable way.

In this book we finally get to know both Daniel and Haley’s Inner Core. In Hayley’s case, it seemed at times that if it weren’t for her best friends she would have a very hard time getting herself straightened out. Especially when she says something but really doesn’t follow through.
“As long as we both agree that we should trust each other and communicate, this breakup wasn’t for nothing.”

She keeps feeling and acting insecure and fearful and therefore is guarded and furthermore, she doesn’t express it. But Ian and Tasha aren’t just comic relief. They not only love her and take care of her, they also put her in her place when need be.
“How many wrongs did we commit between the two of us before we got it right?” ~ Tasha

“You guys were on a fucking break – screw that, you actually broke up! … Just so we’re crystal clear here, forgive doesn’t really work without the forgetting part.” ~ Ian sounding a bit like Chandler Bing at the beginning there.

But mostly I fell in love with Daniel. Even with “his short fuse,” “impulsive and high tempered” self or may be because of it.
“Do you really want to tame me?”

Because he tried and he showed Hayley his soft, sweet, considerate and attentive side. He was just incredibly romantic and determined.
“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams”

The story at times was a bit predictable like “some kind of pathetic sitcom that makes you squirm in your own chair” but the thing is, Sigal refers to the situation and in doing to it turns out to be funny.

It had its painful moments but more incredibly funny and romantic ones. There were OMG instances and WTF ones, and some all bundled into one. And at the end I know I would have taken great pleasure in reading an extra epilogue!

Extra notes: It is a two part series told from Hayley’s point of view, with a couple of chapters from Daniel’s.

I wasn't sure how to rate this book til the last chapters!

Better writing that book 1 for sure, but the heroine had a drastic 180 degree change! In book 1 she was totally smart, strong, sassy, bold and so in syntony with the hero. In book 2 she's totally stupid, annoying, irritating, so insecure about everything...annoyed the hell out of me and I think the hero is a saint for not kicking her ass out of his house most of the time!
I know that the writer needed something to continue a book 2, but destroying so totally the heroine wasn't the right direction, by that point in the book I was thinking to rate it with 3 stars!

What pissed me off more was that she was one moment "you are the love of my life, I can't imagine a life without you" to the next "I wan't to escape, he's not my soulmate, I'm having total panic of the idea that he can propose to me"...

Ohhh come on this guy did everything to show his love to her, adored her beyond reason, brought her to his homes where no women ever did, brought her to meet his mother, was ready to marry her in 2 months because for him she was the one.

Plus the reasons she had for all these doubts were pretty lame...

Daniel on the other hand was totally adorable. The only critic is that sometimes he was a bit too patient with her.

Even though I'm happy for their happy ever after...I thought after the Thai drama she was going to change and be like in book 1, but again she put her foot there in not making our happiness complete...saying she waited 2 years to marry him because she was still scared???!!! And married him because of their daughter o.O

The nicest part was the end of the book with Daniel and baby Emma <3 Father and daughter were too cute for words!

“Let me ask you something,” he says, rewarding me with his utmost bad boy glance. “You sure you want to tame me?”

Why yes, Daniel, I do!! *wink wink* After all, I am...

LOL!

Anyway, on to my review!

So, Sigal my kindred spirit lovey, you’ve outdone yourself in this one!! I freaking loved Inner Core!!

It was engaging, intriguing, and totally captures your attention!

I was literally reeling with the ending of LAYERS since it ended up in heartbreak but I was glad that we got to see our favorite couple working out the kinks and trying to work things out.

It’s not easy of course, as both Daniel and Hayley have many issues that they need to get through. BUT... just as I thought things were starting to settle down even more roadblocks and unimaginable obscurities weave their path into the story.

Sheesh, these characters have identity and trust issues but I’m also glad that there is a focal on that. Often at times, I feel in reads that characters’ lose themselves in relationships or during the whole story in general so I was glad that in some way that they not only got to establish a more sense of self in themselves but also get to preserve the same sense of caliber that they started out with.

I was also happy to see my favorite trio again, Haytashan (Hayley/Tasha/Ian), again!! Ahh, good times them!! They always manage to make me smile!

An awesome awesome story that is so delectable in its own way and even demonstrates that imperfect romances can have their HEA’s too!!

Absolutely loved it and this quote!: “I promise I will always love u, even when you forget to love yourself.” - Hayley to Daniel. AWW!!

Sorry... Not better than the first book for me. Too bad. Just wandered and felt like a run on sentence. There were times I re-read things trying to figure out where the author was going with the story. Hayley annoyed the heck out of me. Daniel was sweet when he wasn't being a total dummy.

Again there were funny moments, fewer than in the first book. But it was the only thing that saved it from being a one star read.

It just didn't work for me... Bummer.

3 Disappointed and Sad Stars

After i finish it the first book of this series i was really looking forward to the Inner Core but slowly i come down from my high. I really expected more or at least the same quality i got in the first one but unfortunately that did not happened.

When i read the last chapter of the first book and it was from Daniel's point of view i expected this one to be from both points of view. I wanted to see what he thought and what it crossed his mind. But that didn't happened. And that's def not he reason i gave this book a 3 stars.

What really didn't worked for me was that the author make this book WAY TOO COMPLICATED, and dragged too much. Not that it was longer than the first one but not as fast paced as the first one and some of the scenes were really useless and def did not belonged in here.

Nothing is more annoying than discover an amazing new and refreshing author and series but only to be disappointed in the next book.

Oh dear God. Where do I begin? I mean, seriously… One minute I’m up, the next minute I am down. Like, do I go North or South? Should I go East or West? Agh, hell, I don’t even know right now. Like, my mind has a series of words flying around and I’m not able to truly grasp a single, damn one of them. Seriously. Comparing my thoughts to a roller coaster ride doesn’t even compare!

Okay, so like, book 1 (Layers) was amazing, in my opinion. And, I seriously turned complete fan-girl over the release of book 2, Inner Core. I mean, I will admit, I really prayed to the “Gods of Authors” to get my paws on this little piece of treasure and bam! I was granted my one (seemingly, undying) wish.

All dramatics aside, this book was stellar. Beyond stellar. I truly cannot think of one single word to correct define this book. In fact, providing this book with the max selection of 5 stars that we are allowed to offer for reviews on Goodreads (because that's the highest this damn thing goes!) seems like a complete letdown for this book and Sigal Ehrlich; it deserves way more than 5 stars.

Fuck, even right now I don’t even know where to begin. I am just SOOOO FULL OF EMOTIONS!!

In this book, it picks up where Daniel and Haley have left off: they are separated and she is in Chicago visiting her parents and Daniel and Hailey have broken up (for approximately two weeks now). Hailey receives some potentially devastating news regarding Steven, her brother fighting overseas, and after trying to keep it together, Hailey makes the one phone that changes everything for them.

(I’m really trying not to release any spoilers here but truly, it’s kind of hard not to because the book is JUST THAT GOOD!)

As Daniel makes a decision to be with Hailey during her (potential) time of need, regarding Steven, the two of them are able to talk and work a few things out. As the story progresses, a few traumatic events take place. Like, the Brad situation. (Ugh, he is such a smug bastard!) And then the events leading up to the Ritz stay for Hailey. And, let’s not forget the hot-piece-of-ass leaning over Daniel’s desk event either (at this point, I wanted to choke the shit out of Hailey for being retarded!!)

But, my heart broke during the last trip to Thailand. I was so damn absorbed in to this book and what was happening at this point, I damn near prayed to the Gods of-all-that’s-good-in-book-world that my fears wouldn’t be confirmed (which were awful fears!) before turning every damn page during this section! Christ, that was intense.

But on the flip side, there were tender moments and just pure happiness moment as well that made you melt in to a big pile of mushy-gooshy-goo. In my opinion, Daniel performed a complete 360 to be everything that Hailey needed and would ever desire; he gave her literally everything he was: heart, mind, body, and soul. However, Hailey was a straight-up stubborn-assed lady. Good Heavens, was she stubborn!

And then, there was the sex. I mean, the sex in this book is in a category all on it’s on for this book. I mean, it was intense, yes. But, I would have to say it was more like extreme. Maybe not extreme, maybe more on the lines of tremendous; or even magnificent? Shit son, I can’t even think of the right word to describe it. And, it was steamy, don’t get me wrong. I mean, depending on how involved you get in this book, you may be cranking your AC down a few 100 degrees to make 30 below zero just to cool you off. IT was just that good, in my opinion. Granted, there isn’t a lot of bondage or really any BDSM stuff, like most of the stuff I read, but it was just the pure connection that Sigal Ehrlich was able to offer on the page and portray between Daniel and Hailey that makes the acts of their sexual experiences so damn intense and powerful.

The conclusion of Hailey and Daniel’s story is beautiful. It really is. "You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams." - Daniel Stark, Inner Core

In the end, the story was everything I had hoped it would be and then some…by a lot!! I cannot thank Sigal Ehrlich enough for providing me with the opportunity to review this book. Sigal Ehrlich, you truly are one talented individual and I look forward to reading your new book coming out, Leaving Me Behind.

A lot happens in this one. More drama which is not over the top.. {Thank Goodness for small favors..}

It deals mainly with the insecurities and the ups and downs which occur in Daniel’s and Hayley’s relationship.

Hayley’s concerns were justified but I still felt like she was being stupid. I mean one wrong relationship in HIGH SCHOOL which was waaay back in her past makes no sense in her current behaviour with Daniel. I kept thinking what terrible thing would have happened to her to make her this skeptic..

Daniel seems more mature in this book.. equally sinful ;)
He faces some harsh pasts and we begin to understand what has created this tough outer shell of his.

Loved Ian. Seriously why all gay men have to be handsome?

Loved their friendship. The trio were a hoot!!
A great book. Hayley did made me furious at some time but i still loved it!

To reach the core of inner beauty, one must first unravel the many protective layers.

Inner Core is the second and final novel in the Stark series. It will not work as a standalone and you will need to have read the first book, Layers, to understand what is happening in this one.

We pick up right where we left off at the end of Layers with Daniel and Hayley estranged and desperately lonely and lost without each other. Daniel is determined to make things right and will move Heaven and Earth to get back to his Hales. Once they’re reunited you can bet that things do not go smoothly.

While Layers was mostly about establishing these two as a couple, Inner Core is more about these two headstrong, obstinate personalities trying to find a happy equilibrium together. Yes, they’re desperately in love but they really don’t make things easy on themselves and I really could have slapped Hayley a time or two during this one. Yes, Daniel’s done wrong and he did most seriously fuck up far worse than we realised but she really does hurt him a couple of times in this one and he didn’t deserve it.

These two are crazy in love and besotted with one another. If intense and searing love stories are your thing with a dominant, alpha, uber-protective and caring hero then this series will work for you.

I adored Daniel – he’s a brooding billionaire rather than a tortured one. He’s got some trust issues and some Daddy issues but mostly he’s pretty level-headed. He’s met his match in Hayley who is feisty and argumentative but they really are soul mates and I loved just how much this dysfunctional couple really loved one another. That came over loud and clear from the narrative and Sigal Ehrlich really does pace this beautifully.

Daniel is just one of those incredibly intense book heroes whose love for this woman completely consumes him. He’s overwhelmed by his feelings for her and is very attentive, super protective, highly possessive – everything that makes a hero to die for. He’s of the same ilk as Christian Grey, Jesse Ward, Ethan Blackstone, Gideon Cross – although I would classify this book as contemporary rather than erotic romance.

I would have liked to have more details in the sex scenes. It’s all in the detail you know! The sex scenes were full of emotion which I adore but they were also always over quite quickly and often just fade to black so, again, I think this is contemporary romance rather than erotic romance and would have liked just a bit more steam.

It definitely is a Fifty Shades style intense romance but it stands its own ground and has its own story with well fleshed out original characters and I really did enjoy Sigal Ehrlich’s writing style – it flows beautifully with plenty of witty asides and inner monologues. It’s easy to read and a beautiful romance.

***I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.***

I FREAKING LOVED this book!!!! Inner Core is the sequel to Layers, and we find Hayley and Daniel still apart. However, the ever alpha man, Daniel, decides it won’t be that way for long. He travels from California to Chicago and does win Hayley back. The first part of the book isn’t overly dramatic as Hayley and Daniel are adjusting to being a couple and thinking of taking the next step and moving in together. Of course, domestic bliss and great sex don’t last long with these two. When Sigal Ehrlich drops a bombshell on us, readers, she does it in style. Not only one but several all in one scene. Hayley’s thought, “This debacle gives new meaning to the word clusterfuck,” could not be more fitting for what shockers are in store for us. I don’t want to go into too much detail because I don’t want to ruin it for others.

There are so many things I loved about this book. I loved the story; it’s written in a way that you just want to keep turning the pages, but this author does a phenomenal job of bringing out emotions in the reader, at least she did that for me. I spent the afternoon shouting cuss words, in shock, and in tears. Not very many writers can do that do me. I absolutely loved her writing style. She puts so much thought into everything from the scenery to the characters. Every scene engaged me. It was like watching a movie. She has a great sense of language as well. For example she writes in a tense scene, “We were two blissfully entwined souls coming in and are two very detached ones leaving.” With that simple sentence, you can feel everything Hayley is feeling!

She even put thought into the titles for both books. Layers is about these two individuals peeling back the layers of their souls and bearing them to one another. Inner Core is about these same two individuals shedding their pasts, trust issues, and all the garbage they bring into their relationship and finding a way to love each other despite that. I always like a story with strong secondary characters, and I got that in this series with Tasha and Ian. I loved each of their personalities and their friendship with Hayley. They were there for each other through everything. They brought out the best in each other.

I know I have overused the word, love. But, I loved both books in this series. If you are looking for a love story between two stubborn, strong-willed people with hot sex mixed in, give this series a try. As an added bonus, I have to say the epilogue has to be one of my favorites. I hope we get to see more of the Hayley and Daniel, but I would love to see how life is going for Natasha and Ian.

Inner Core is book 2 in the Stark Series.

Once again we are pulled into the lives of Hayley and Daniel. Their attraction can't be denied. Ehrlich amazingly creates characters that become our friends, friends you want to sit down with and really get to know.

I read this story straight through. Yes, it was a very late night...you can say I found it undeniably magnetic.

Both Hayley and Daniel are strong characters in their own right but each have a vulnerability that humanizes their plight for happiness and love. I was emotionally effected by this story. Once again, I laughed, I cried and I cheered...occasionally I even railed at the characters. Ok, so my family thought I cracked but sometimes you just find yourself so sucked into the fictional world you have to react in reality...bravo Ehrlich fantastic writing.

The secondary characters are just as intriguing and you couldn't help but want more. More of Hayley and Daniel and more of her wonderfully delightful friends and family. I'd even love more of Daniel's mom...I think Ehrilch should write her story.

Inner Core simply is a brilliant must read contemporary romance...don't miss out on this heart felt, rocky, love story.

I received this ARC copy of Inner Core from Sigal Ehrlich in exchange for a honest review.

I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This books picks up right where Layers left off. Hayley is still completely depressed over her break up with Daniel and now her brother Steven is missing. Hayley isn't sure how much more sad news she can take without falling completely apart. Then suddenly Daniel shows up at her parents house, and the story goes on from there.

Daniel and Hayley have a lot of things they need to work through before getting back to the relationship they had before. Well, Hayley thinks they need to work on things, Daniel would rather pretend that it never happened and start right where they left off.

The issues Hayley has been having about forgiving and forgetting are pushed to unmanageable limits when she finds out what happened when she and Daniel were on a break. Instead of running, will she actually think rationally about the situation?

Even with all the drama, Ian and Tasha provide a lot of comic relief. I absolutely love Ian, he is a crack up and can put a smile on your face no matter what your mood is. You get to see more of him in this story and start to fall in love with him. (in a sisterly way of course lol)

Once you think Daniel and Hayley have recovered from all the obstacles that have been thrown in their paths, one more may tear them apart for good. Will their love be able to pull them through this last obstacle, or will fate decide a different outcome for them?

This book was fantastic, the only thing I would have liked was a little more detail on their happily ever after. Other than that though, I would definitely recommend this book to all my friends as a must read!

This is the second book in the series. Inner Core picks up exactly where Layers ended.
I actually liked this one, I felt more of a connection between the characters.

"Even if I had you custom-made they wouldn't reach this kind of compatibility. It's like I did something really god damn fucking virtuous in a past life to be rewarded with you."

Hayley as “Call Girl” seriously!? OMG.. I just laughed.

The favourite friends of Hayley, Ian and Natasha still present and with great surprises, and funny, strong and thoroughly know more moments.

"I’ve got it so bad, don’t I? Sometimes I could hate myself for it.” I shake my head. “What's become of me, Doc?”
Ian’s lush lips turn into a half smile.
“The prognosis, my gorgeous patient, is that you have a severe psycho addiction, and its complications are incurable.”

This book was filled with emotional, intense, sexy and even funny moments.
You will not be disappointed. Love the end, it’s very beautiful.

“Thanks, Hales”
“What for?”
“For being you”

OMGoodness, I was blessed enough to receive an ARC this morning, and literally could not put it down!! Yes, I read it in a day. Seriously though, I need more stars. I loved seeing this group again and watching the love story that is Daniel and Hales evolve. I don't want to give too much away so I'll talk more about it when it comes out, but I love the realism of their story. The way Ms. Ehrlich writes, I just feel like I'm there with everybody actually living in it. I was so involved and felt the highs and lows. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to see more of this group in the future!

I absolutely LOVED this series & it's been a few days since I finished it & I still am having a major book hangover!! This series had a 50 Shades of Grey feel to it but I think that's what I liked about it. While reading I was totally consumed into Daniel & Halely's story. I soooo loved Halely's two best friends. The conversations these three had me literally LMFAO & other peeps looking at me strangely. Looking forward to more books by this author!!

Inner Core is book two in the Stark series and is an Adult, Contemporary Romance written by Sigal Ehrlich. I received this eARC from the author in exchange for an honest review through Xpresso Book Tours .

4 Smiling, Pretty Stars!
A Lovely Read With Great Besties and A Hunky Hero!

The Review:
Though I liked book one, Layers, I felt it lacked a certain emotional aspect that kept me from rating it over 3.5 stars. I have to say that though there were some things in Inner Core I still wanted to put in my wish list, it was a definitely a big step up with great writing and a great, romantic story.

Story...
When we left off in Layers, Hayley and Daniel had a falling out and though they were on the road to reconciliation, they still had much to think about and much to work through.

Daniel comes to Hayleys rescue with information about her lost brother who they were awaiting news from when we left them in book one. He and Hayley reconnect but its far from smooth sailing and with Hayley building walls and hiding behind her fears and Daniels having an explosive secret that might just tear them apart for good, they have to find the love they feel for each other that seems to keep getting buried under all the drama.

Characters...
In the first book, I kept looking for more from Daniel. I love a complicated, angsty hero but if you’re looking for a complex alpha male with a deep darkness, this won't be the read for you. I went into book one thinking that’s what I was in store for and I think that’s where my disappointment came from. But in this book, Daniel steps up and even though he did something hurtful, he truly cared for Hayley and showed her on multiple occasions how deep his feelings went. His past is a bit traumatic but he’s trying to work through those events that created him to be the kind of man who can have a healthy relationship. I found him to be more layered and real in this book which made me one happy reader!

As for Hayley... well, I really liked her character in book one, but this go around I wanted to throttle her. Her indecisiveness caused a lot of pain and heartache where I didn’t think there needed to be any. She wasn’t my favorite character this go around and I really disliked her “all about me” attitude with Daniel. He was hurting too and though she acknowledged it internally, her actions spoke volumes about how mistrustful she was. It was disappointing seeing as how in book one she was this strong presence. I wish Hayley had retained her spunky, devil may care attitude but she seemed to subcome to the drama and wallow a bit. And the worse part was, it was of her own making. But I can also say her resistance added a strong amount of drama and it worked overall.

But for me, though the romance was nice, the friendship between Hayley, Ian and Tasha is what raised this book above the bar. I loved their dialogue, their interactions and their creative and snarky banter. These three were hilarious and united. Loved them!

I loved the ending and the events that unfolded during the climax. It was well written and emotionally charged. And lastly, the best part of this book was the fantastic Epilogue that wraps everything up so nicely with a lot of flair and fun.

And Of Course, My Wish List...
There were a few moments when the book seemed to drag. Not much was happening and just like with book one, I kept expecting something, anything to happen during those moments. There seemed to be a buildup and a bit of suspense in the works but then nothing dramatic would actually happen. I don't know if the pacing was off or the story lost direction, but the middle lagged for me.

And during the climax of the book, I sooooo wanted a Daniel POV! Maybe if we beg hard enough, the author will give us a novella??? *bats lashes and wields my most sincere puppy dog eyes*

The Wrap Up:
Even with my “wish list” and Hayley’s character turn, I still really enjoyed this great read. What these two books are, is a sweet, sometimes angsty, but always smile-worthy romance that will keep you entertained. I'm looking forward to seeing what this author comes up with in the future.

Jen's Review
4.5 stars

"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep, because reality is finally better then your dreams."

That is exactly how I felt when I was asked if I'd like to review Inner Core. I was dying to read more of Hayley and Daniels story. I NEEDED it bad because after reading Layers I just could not stop thinking about that ending. Sigal Ehrlich had me on the edge of seat begging for more. And I have to say Inner Core did not disappoint.

Daniel is just as hot as the first book. And just as romantic. I mean I think I fell in love with him even more in this one. His journey to win Hayley back and to make her his forever was just a very emotional path. It felt like he grew a lot more in this story from the first one. I have to say I kind of loved the fact that we saw a much more sensitive side to him. I mean in the first book, he's very controlled, very closed off about talking about his past but in this one we get to see him open up so much more. Don't get me wrong, he is still the same controlling man he was, I just got to see more of the man under all of that. Where he had some trust issues where Hayley was concerned, I really got to see how he learned from past mistakes and how he opened up to trust with all of him. He is like an onion and with ever layer that got peeled back I learned something new about him. I really loved that.

After the first book we saw Hayley left being broken and utterly devastated. I liked that throughout this book she was very guarded, and I completely understood why she felt that way. I mean if you got burned you wouldn't just completely give your heart over to the man who hurt you that easily either. I love that she made him work for it in a sense and where she needed time to work through her own insecurities and doubts in order to trust Daniel with her heart again.

Now I would give this story a 5 star rating because I loved it but, I'm on the fence. My only real issue reading was that from the last book we are left believing that Daniel had done something that he felt that she might not forgive him for. And going into this there is in fact some secret he is keeping from her. For me the story really built up to this really big secret and I was dying to find out what it was. I was expecting to be outraged, devastated and angry. Where I'd want to junk punch him because How DARE he? And I have to say I was kind of ticked off when it was finally revealed. And Let's be honest I love that stuff in book. Where a story can evoke such high emotions in me. For me I just would have liked to see that go on a little more. Where it wasn't forgiven as easily. Regardless of the circumstances I wanted Hayley to make him suffer longer then he did.

Overall this was a really good read. The flow was great, the characters we all loved from the first book had a presence and they helped add to the story. The sex was still as hot, the banter between all the characters had me laughing. There were moments where I was chewing on my finger nails wondering what the heck was going to happen. And the Love and romance just melted my heart. I really hope at some point we get Tasha's and Ian's story. Would love to see what happens with them. If you read Layers then you definitely need to pick this one up and read it..

I can't wait to see what Sigal Ehrlich has in store for us in the future.

"Even if I had you custom-made they wouldn't reach this kind of compatibility. It's like I did something really god damn fucking virtuous in a past life to be rewarded with you."

I was so looking forward to this sequel as book 1 ended on a cliffhanger with Daniel jumping to conclusions and Haley's brother's whereabouts unknown.

Book 2 had a lot of new plot developments: Daniel and Hayley reconnecting, insecurities about their sexual histories, Tasha and Ian having a greater role and coming with their own baggage (and hilarity!), Haley having commitment issues, and then the whole life or death matter at the end. Plenty to keep one turning the page, and the H/h still had decent chemistry. Loved the 10.5 reasons why list and Daniel had some great romantic one-liners in this book.

I think I wasn't as fond of this book as the first because Hayley was such a whiner most of the time and so unwilling to take risks. The dynamic between Daniel/Hayley was somewhat lukewarm at times (or one-sided), would have liked more intimacy outside of sex to have been portrayed. More alpha-ness to show through from Daniel. He worked a lot in this novel and the scenes together are somewhat short. Suspense also waned, some developments were predictable and could have had a bit more edge-of-your-seat drama. However it did end with an epilogue shown with two POVs(wish I had seen that throughout the novel), and all loose ends were tied up nicely.

Overall an enjoyable read, not disappointed, look forward to continuing to follow this new author!

5 Stars for Inner Core

I loved this book. Let me tell you I was reeling at the end of Layers wondering what was gonna happen for Hayley and Daniel and the best thing about this book is it literally picks up right where we left off. My only problem with this book was that Hayley disappointed me. In the first book she was a total bad ass chick and in this one she was more whiney and wishy/washy for me. I get that the bombshell Daniel dropped, which I had not expected, would be enough to gut me. I wanted more details as to when everything happened, immediately after he felt betrayed in the first book or after she turned him down when he came to her. If it was the former, he really pissed me off, if it was the latter then I am only upset with his poor decision. But once they decide to go on from there, she needed to get past all her insecurity and embrace that beautiful specimen of a man that loved her. OMG, who wouldn't want what she got for her birthday, oh right, Hayley. Crazy girl. Even though it takes an almost tragedy, at least she gets her head out of her behind.

Despite that, I still cannot say all the wonderful parts about this book. I love Tasha, and well Ian, he is the best.
"Do you know that awkward moment when you see someone so hot you actually reach your hand to touch him and you're blocked by the mirror."

Top off Ian's humor with Daniel's amazingness(yes I know that is not a word, but he deserves it) and you have a book that deserves to be read!!! I only wish there was more!!!

Short and sweet review.

Audiobook: 2.5 Stars due mostly to the awful narrator

Story: 3.85 Star(k)s

Book 2 of 2 (fingers crossed)
Hayley and Daniel face a few bumps on the road to their .

I was reticent to dig into 'Inner Core' fearing it was chock full of made-up drama planned to draw out the page count. Surprisingly, though, the story pulled together in an at times painful, but mostly realistic way. However, I was still annoyed to bits with Ian and Tasha, the most annoying of book BFFs ever.

Loved This Trilogy

Adored the Stark trilogy, from the moment I picked up the first stark book I was transfixed by this tale.. I was with Hales/H and her psycho D/Daniel from the beginning and through all the ups and downs was silently willing them on from the sidelines, This series captured my imagination and my heart, I also seriously fell for the besties Ian and Trish loved that pair of goons. this was a lovely heartwarming series that I enjoyed immensely.

Daniel and Hayley

I'm not a fan of cheating, even when it is presented in the Rachel and Ross "We were on a break" way. This still felt like a gross betrayal especially when he admits he kissed the chick. The "I was so drunk I didn't know left from right" excuse is awful.
