DEUCE is the epic conclusion to The Vortex Series where we learn the fates of tennis star, Cassie Moore, and time-traveling musician, Trent Astor.
At the end of Double Fault, we discover that everything will change for seventeen-year-old Cassie after she disappears into thin air. Together, she and Trent must figure out why she's jumping time and if she will be sent on further missions to the past, all while keeping this larger-than-life secret hidden from Cassie's family and friends.
However, all this secrecy causes Cassie's parents to suspect Trent is a bad influence on their daughter. They do everything in their power to keep them apart, making Cassie’s new circumstances nearly impossible to manage.
Meanwhile, it seems Trent and his sister, Lorelai, will never be safe from the greedy world and its hunger for Trent's power. A new force threatens to destroy the anonymity Trent has fought his entire life for unless he can stop this new opposition first. But every choice has a consequence, and Trent must face the most difficult choice of his life.
Set in contemporary Northern California, the Vortex Series is a teen romance for those who enjoy a mashup of science fiction, fantasy, a little music, and sports. This story is told from dual perspectives, giving the reader an intimate view into both Cassie and Trent’s worlds. First love and family relationships--how they interconnect and drive our personalities--is the heart and soul of this YA time travel novel.

Let me just say that this series was my first ever time travel series and I really really enjoyed it. I’ve seen enough movies to know how time travel works but this was not like any movies I’ve ever really seen. It was so much more. There was so much going on and every time I was on the edge of my seat to see how things were going to turn out. The series is about a boy and his younger sister, Trent and Lorelai, who lost their
parents in a tragic accident at a very young age. Something happened to Trent that day that he could not explain and the very first time that Trent ever jumped back in to time was not fun for them. I can only imagine how it must have been for two young children, on their own in an orphanage, to have to go through the pain of losing their parents let alone the shock of Trent disappearing into thin air when he jumped.. I’d be a little bit freaked out wouldn't you? Plus it was hard on them. Trent's jumps took a huge toll on him and Lorelai would be the one to bring him back, each time wondering if it would be his last or if he would come back beyond her help. To make things even worse a crazy Dr finds out about Trent’s ability to Travel back in time and spends years chasing them around the country while they have to move from city to city never knowing how or where they were going to live or what they were going to eat. Finally, Trent and Lorelai are able to settle down for a bit and try to live their lives.. Going by the made up names Lucy and Jeremy they go to school but try to not get too close to everyone around them.. That’s one of Trent’s hard rules. Kind of funny though since “Jeremy” is a hot Rocker looking guy that all the girls are drooling over and Lucy is really beautiful and knows how to catch a guy’s eye herself. Kind of not something you can overlook.
I have to say that Lorelai was my favorite. Lorelai was extremely beautiful, like model beautiful and loved to shop. She was a total fashionista. The main reason I loved her is because she wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She told you exactly how she felt no matter what she thought of you. Actually see was kind of scary at first but after you noticed it was all a front, Her tough as nails exterior fell a little , and she would kill anyone who ever hurt any of her family or friends.
“Oh I guess toying with our lives is okay if its your choice? She spits back, fire resonating in her eyes. ‘She gives me a menacing look before flipping her luxurious tendrils of hair and storms away in a huff.’”
Cassie, what can I say about Cassie? In Rematch she’s really quite withdrawn. She went through a really traumatic event during a tennis match when she was 12 and it altered her life. She doesn't have very much self-esteem because of the trauma the incident caused her and she stopped playing tennis which she misses.. . Trent was sexy and chivalrous and Cassie was beautiful and caring in each of her lives. Trent was the type of person who did what he could so that everyone else would be happy and didn't even think about his own happiness in the process. All of that just added to his bad boy rocker persona and made him sexy in my eyes.
How did Trent and Cassie meet you ask? Well, remember when I said Trent could time travel? Well, I forgot to tell you how and why. He can’t go back to anytime he wants.. Nope, he gets these visions and the visions show him what is to happen and who he has to save. Trent was supposed to save Cassie but was a little too late. Its been his only regret ever since.
“I watch her grasp at her left side, the crimson stain seeping through her tennis dress expanding by the second. Although I’m mesmerized by her gaze, the girl releases her superhuman stare to close her eyes while she clutches her side again and groans in pain. A cold sweat floods my body then when I notice a black blob pooled up underneath her. So much blood!”
Trent has already told Cassie all his secrets but he’s still struggling with the knowledge that he wronged her
by not saving her at that tennis match.. His guilt tears at him and he can’t help to think that she could be so much happier in her life. Of course he doesn't run anything by her at all. Just a typical guy who thinks he’s doing the right thing by going back in time and fixing what he thought was broken. Only thing he didn't think of was how hard it would be to see Cassie back in the life she had before but without him.. Cassie was happier in this life and she was playing tennis again. She even seemed to be more confident. It should of made Trent happy and for a while it did but his heart betrayed him.. Cassie surprised Trent one day by just showing up on his door.. She remembered him, she remembered their love and she was seriously angry at him
Of course there is so much more to this story.. The Good Dr. Fox rears his ugly head and puts a damper on all their lives and there are more tear inducing incidents that are extremely life changing. All in all I really enjoyed the lives of Trent, Cassie, Lorelai and all their crazy friends. There was so much going on that I read each book front to back with barely a break in between. They were that good.
This was truly a great series and I found that Janine explained everything in great detail so that I didn't feel like I was lost at all. I’m a lover of different POV’s and I thought that knowing what both Trent and Cassie was feeling gave the series a lot more insight into their lives and what they were feeling. This is a great series that I would totally recommend to anyone of any reading age.
Unfortunately I didn't have the luck to read the 2 previous book in the series.but I did some "homework" to understand what I am reading about. The story is written from both points of view of the main characters Trent and Cassie. While we got rid from the evil Dr. fox we acquired new villeins.
The language in the book is very typical today "teens", so for YA it is ideal. There is another thing that make the book suitable for YA, is that the relationships are hardly more then some mare kisses and hugs. The reading itself were fast pace and along the way a lot of turning and change overs.
Trent Astor - when he was 12 years old, the car that he was traveling in with his parents, spun out of control and ended up going over a cliff, killing his parents. By some sort of miracle, he survived. The tragedy of his parents death made Trent "grow up" faster than any child should. He had his younger sister Lorelei to look after and trying to have a normal life was out of the question. Something supernatural happened to Trent while he lay waiting in the wreckage.
Since then he was able to physically time travel. He would get visions of people getting hurt or injured, and before he knew it, he would end up traveling to that point in time, and he knew that he was meant to change the outcome of sorts.
In the beginning of the book he don't jump, in fact it look that the ability to jump and the treat, mysteriously passed to Cassie. The book actually open with Cassie disappearance to another time line to save a boy from the wolves and Trent had to wait for till she came back. To make things more complicated all Dr, Fix send "long hands from his grave", and his research somehow reached and publishes at the scientific magazines. And then..... He suddenly disappeared.......
Cassie Moore - Once a girl whose tennis dreams were shattered after she gets shot, and who has to live with the aftermath for the rest of her life. Now it is her term to experience the meaning of time travel. At the beginning she is in denial and lose precious time to train and to learn to control it. What she going to tell her parents? how ah going to explain her sudden disappearances and repeating sickness?
The problem is that her parents in this life time are over protective. They don't like and also are not excepting Trent. They demand that she will cut their relationship altogether and claim that he have a bad influence on her.
Jeff - He is the son of her parents best friends. At This life time Cassie thought that they succeeded to erase all clue to that their relationship is no more then good friends, maybe something of a sibling. Trent can't forget what was and he can't trust him and even feel jealousy. All was well till Jeff fell on his head during a play of basket ball. and then weird thing start to happen.
I wish to thank the author for allowing me to beta read this book for her. It has to be hard handing your hard work over to someone and not knowing what to expect. Janine…you rocked it!
This is the third and final book in The Vortex Trilogy and let me tell you, it’s the best and that’s saying a lot because I’ve loved this trilogy from the first book. The series has seen some changes, a big one being the covers, which are amazing. There has been more PR on them, which is great because these books deserve it.
This book has its highs and lows on personal levels for the characters. Changes in timelines, discoveries, time jumps that defy logic, fear, mystery, death, hope and love. With everything that happened in this book, culminating to a death, I wasn’t sure if Trent would be able to carry on or just call it quits. There are plenty of stressors going on for both Cassie and him, that I wasn’t sure where the ending would take me. The author never ceases to amaze me how to sculpted her characters, breathed life into them, and let them experience life in a way to would strike many down.
With every book in this series, Janine Caldwell created a better, stronger and enjoyable story. Layers upon layers of stories that melded together perfectly. Characters, no matter how menial were never treated less than the others. Every book upped the ante on the one before it. This book just smashed the others to smithereens and took off like a rocket. The background stories were done, it was time to bring it and Janine Caldwell brought it and didn’t stop until the last word. You will find yourself cheering on the characters, crying with them and wringing your hands in anxiety for them. You will find yourself wanting to wrap your arms around Cassie and Trent and say, “Job well done.” Two lives that were brought together by the paranormal but sealed together through love.
I recommend this book, and the two before it “Rematch” and “Double Fault,” to anyone who likes a good romance, mixed with time travel, heartaches and hope. When I first read this, I gave it 4 stars and I discussed with the author my reasoning behind it, but something she said stuck with me, “But the very fact you're hurting over it, that it roused emotion in you is what a writer strives for, right? If everything ended with a happy ending bow, it just wouldn't be as moving.” I’ve gone through this plot twist over and over again in my head, was upset about it and in conclusion, she’s right, 100% right. Now that I’ve had the time, ok it took me several months, to digest what happened and why, it’s caused me to change my rating to five beloved stars. If it’s gotten to me that long, than it’s good!
If you've read the book, you'll know why I gave 4 stars.
It's finally the conclusion to the Vortex Series.
In this final installment, "Deuce". Trent went back in time once again to change Cassie's life to live a third parallel life but little did both knew that Cassie's life would experienced dramatic changes. And that new dangers arises and this time it may end up with Trent losing someone.
I really enjoyed reading this series and it makes me sad to think it has ended.
Cassie may have just found the balance to living her third parallel life but all is not well with her relationship to Trent. That is to say, Trent is not under the good graces of Cassie's parents which kind of starts their trouble. Plus, Cassie also gained the ability to jump which ended up creating more problems for them.
I was thinking what more is there and just when I thought I figured it out there's more. I loved that Trent is willing to do anything especially to teach Cassie how to control her jump and that Trent would take the downfall in order to protect her. I do understand Cassie's parents but even I would feel choked up in their restrictions. I'm glad that Cassie has a friend whose parents are awesome.
I wished those reporters never existed they ruined everything. Well, they just ruined one part but I never expected that and I cried when that happened. Although I'm happy to see Cassie and Trent having their get together romance which lands them in bliss. I thought, "that's just so sweet". Then after that boom, their goes my tears. I won't say what happened but read it to find out. I also felt sad for this other guy. Well, I'm not saying his name because it would be obvious.
Jeff... What can I say about him? Hmmm. I like him at the beginning and it turned sour in the middle near the end but when he finally matured and accepted Cassie's choice, I don't hate him that much.
But I do want to say that the ending made a beautiful picture. It made me teary - eyed and I sighed, "Oh". Although I must say that there should be a warning label of tragedy here. For me, it should coz that bomb was suddenly dropped on my lap and I wanted to scream, "Noooooo!!!".
The ending may be beautiful but it could not compensate for that part. As I read the last part of the book, I wished their was more. It was beautifully written even if I have to accept some parts in order for this series to have its ending.
I received a copy from YA Bound Book Tour for the blog tour.
Over the last week, I've read the entire trilogy, so this will actually be a review over the trilogy as a whole.
I really enjoyed it. I have really gotten into the whole time travel/sci-fi YA scene lately, and I especially love time travel books that have their own take on the phenomenon. The Vortex series turned it into almost a paranormal ability given to Trent (Jeremy) by nature. I really loved this take on it!
The only thing that was a little annoying was the whole "Twilight" feel to the basic plot. This didn't last long, and its not a Twilight knock off, but it has that old tired paranormal boy-with-powers-saves-normal-girl-who-then-falls-in-love-with-him-but-he-must-stay-away-or-she-will-be-in-danger thing. This was really the only negative I could find with the books, and it didn't bother me that much. After it gets going, that whole comparison disappears anyway, because the rest of the story is so unique!
The story is a dual POV between Cassie and Trent, which I really liked. It was nice to see Trent's side of things, especially when he was acting like a total boy and I just wanted to shake him! Overall, I did like him, but I didn't feel that "book boyfriend" connection I wanted. Later in the books that becomes more clear! Cassie was a great MC, and my favorite character without a doubt. I also really loved Trent's sister, Lorelai. She was probably the most complex character in the story. All the other characters are pretty bit parts and don't play a huge role. The story is really about Trent, Cassie and Lorelei.
This was a great read, and if you are into time travel or sci-fi, I definitely recommend it!
I was stunned and enamored all at once by the end of Double Fault and eager to start Deuce!
Deuce is a really complex addition to the trilogy and just as great if not better than the other books! Cassie goes MIA and scares everyone including me! Oh and then whole world flips upside down after Jeff freaks at a game!
This book was so good, such a action packed ending to a great trilogy. Janine Caldwell brought me into Cassie an Trent's world and made my imagination go wild. The descriptiveness of her writing was really good and left little to my imagination. I could picture every detail with clarity. You will not be disappointed getting into these books. They are YA at it's most engaging, the whole fantasy aspect to it is kind of minimal as far as I am concerned. Time travel is a new thing for me to read, I really think I have only read a few series that have it in there and I really do like it! And can you say plot twist!? I was so surprised more than once reading this book along with a myriad of other emotions!
I understood her parents view on things but if I were her and Trent I wouldn't have sweated the situation with 18 around the corner and the boyfriend having the cash for my education not to mention possible scholarships. But that's just me... I was on edge again reading this book so much happened my head is left spinning with that familiar yet welcome book hangover. I laughed and oh man did I cry... This was so very good seriously!!
I was super sad for it all to come to an end. I cannot wait to get these books for my teenagers, I recommend this series highly and I could not give this book less than 5 stars!
I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.
Firstly I would like to thank the author and the tour organizers for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.
Okay, so my first reaction towards this series was "What??? Can a book be that awesome???"!!! Yeah, that was my reaction and when I read this installment well, I just got knocked over by this story. It's thrilling, adventurous and most importantly it has action and lots of drama, well the good one not the cliche one!!!
I loved the writing style of the author very much and I just fell in love with her way of writing and portraying her thoughts through words that were presented so beautifully that from the very first you'll find yourself to be a part of the world that the author created for us.
The characters are really awesome and fully developed and by judging the way the author presented these characters to the readers, well I can say that these characters are loved unconditionally by the author and the same dedication and hard work of the author touched the readers' hearts and made them a fan of this series.
Over all a great read that has action, romance, betrayal, pain, suspense, horror and most of all great characters, so guys hop on the ride and get carried away. Enjoy!!!
Wow! Janine Caldwell has done it...again! I am absolutely in love with her characters, Cassie and Trent! What a whirlwind of suspense, mystery, romance...and, of course, time travel, this third installment continued to take me on. And all the feels that go with it...this is story that kept me immersed in their struggles to keep their love and lives together...even amidst the dangers and obstacles laid out before them.
I received a free copy of this book from the author via YA Bound Book Tour in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third book in the Vortex series, and it is also my favorite!
The entire series is very cute and fun, but this book had a little more drama added in with the adorable.
Cassie and Trent go through a lot in this book. They suffer some major losses and have to figure out how to deal with the fact that Cassie is now a time traveler too, but thankfully they work through all of their problems together.
Cassie took to her new time traveling abilities very well. It really surprised me how easily she got the hang of everything. She did have Trent to help her, but mostly she is just really good at being a time traveler. I think she may actually be more suited for in than Trent.
Like in the first two books, Trent and Cassie face more than just supernatural obstacles. Cassie’s ex boyfriend from her two other lives, Jeff, is still around, but this time he and Cassie never dated so he shouldn’t be a problem anymore, right? Wrong! Even when he thinks of Cassie like a sister, Jeff still finds a way to make trouble for her and Trent. However, the main cause of drama for Cassie and Trent this time came from an unexpected place, her parents.
In her first life, Cassie had a near perfect relationship with her parents. They cared about her, but they also allowed her a certain amount of freedom so it was easy for her to be with Trent. In her second life, her parents had so many of their own issues that they didn’t focus enough on Cassie and her brother. This also made it easy for her to be with Trent, but she missed having good parents. In this life, Cassie’s parents more than make up for bad parenting in the previous life because they require her to explain everything about Trent’s strange life. Now, I know that Trent is a great guy, but I also understood why her parents didn’t think so. They never met his parents, Their daughter was recently kidnapped because of him, and he has a bad habit of disappearing when Cassie needs him most. Add the fact that their daughter is now also missing curfew and staying out all night into that equation, and I completely get why her parents were freaking out! It was an obstical that made sense. I wanted Cassie and Trent to be able to spend time together, but I also understood why her parents didn’t allow it. I actually felt like they were being more than fair.
I was very happy that the author finally addressed Trent’s jealousy in this book because that has always been my main issue with him. I get that Jeff is a problem, and he always seems to be a problem, but that has nothing to do with Cassie. Cassie dumped the boy in two separate lifetimes, and made sure not to even kiss him in a third, he has never been competition for Trent, and it was about time that both Jeff and Trent got that through their thick skulls. Cassie finally grew enough backbone to tell Trent to cool it with the jealousy, and that conversation was long overdue in my opinion.
Will all of the obstacles they faced, I don’t want to leave you with the impression that there was all drama and no romance in the book. Trent is not afraid to tell Cassie exactly how much he loves her, and he always finds the sweetest things to say. This is definitely a romance novel because most teenage boys wouldn’t be caught dead saying some of the things he does to Cassie, but that’s why we read book like these. If men said stuff like that, the books would serve no purpose, and it wouldn’t be fiction. I personally like it when the romance is slightly more grounded and the guy shows the girl that he loves her more often than he tells her. Trent shows Cassie he loves her plenty of times, but he also tells her constantly so it got a little old after a while. Even he acknowledges that he goes a little overboard when it comes to her so I think the author did that on purpose. Trent hasn’t had the opportunity to love very many people in his life, and he is loved by even fewer so he makes sure that Cassie knows how much she means to him as often as he can. Can’t fault a guy too much for being loving, now can I?
This book was sadder than the others, but the author made a couple of bold choices and I always respect that. Once again, I enjoyed the last few chapters a lot, and I’m not sure if this is the last book in the series, but although there was no cliffhanger, the ending certainly left room for there to be another one.
Overall, this was a pleasant, and possibly final instalment to the series, and fans of time travel romance novels should enjoy it very much.
because of mild sexual content, I would recommend this book for ages twelve and up.
***NOTE: This review may contain spoilers for the first two books in the series.***
Deuce is the final installment of the Vortex trilogy. In this book, Cassie finally gets the life she was hoping for and has had a chance to learn from the mistakes of her first two lives. Of course, it doesn't all go smoothly and Cassie finds a new curve ball thrown at her that she never expected.
The negatives:
The big event near the end. Something happens toward the end of the book that I had a hard time with. I just couldn't quite wrap my head around it - or Trent's response to it. I'm not exactly sure why, except that what happened didn't feel exactly necessary to me. Because of this, the end of the book was hard for me to connect to (at least until the very end).
Jeff. I thought that we were going to finally be rid of Jeff in this third book, but unfortunately that didn't happen. Even though Jeff and Cassie started out as just friends (with no feelings on either side), it didn't stay that way. I was tired of Jeff by this third book and especially tired of Trent's jealousy of him.
What I loved:
The third life. The third time really was a charm for Cassie and Trent - at least mostly. I really enjoyed seeing this third incarnation of Cassie's life. The one where she got to fix all of the major problems and live her life without regrets. Yes, there were still problems (the biggest one being that Cassie's parents are now super loving, but also slightly overprotective and don't approve of her relationship with Trent), but overall, her life is what she's been hoping for.
More time traveling. (MINOR SPOILER) One of the best things about this book was the fact that Cassie becomes a Traveler herself. (This is a slight spoiler, but you find this out early in the book, and most people would probably have guessed it at the end of book #2 - I know I had). I loved seeing Cassie go through the experience of traveling through time and realizing just how crazy Trent's life truly was. Being new at traveling, there were things that she needed to figure out, and it wasn't all easy. Cassie's time traveling experiences and what happened during her trips were definitely my favorite parts of the book!
Cassie and Trent. While things were still sometimes rocky for Cassie and Trent throughout book #3, I loved seeing them finally truly together. And the ending to the book was very sweet and gave me a clear vision of what Cassie and Trent's future might look like!
Overall, I'd say that Double Fault was a fitting end to the Vortex series. This series was a fun read - great for its intended YA audience. I give it 3.5/5 stars.
***Disclosure: This book was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given. All opinions are my own***
I was thrilled when I came across another book, or series in this case, that has to do with time travel. I read another book earlier this year that involved the concept, and it has been one of my favorite books so far this year. Honestly, that was enough to make me want to read this series. When I received the email about the blog tour, I could not help but to be excited about it. I had not read any of the series yet, so I received all three as ebooks so I could get caught up and then read the final book int he trilogy, Deuce. Honestly, I had high hopes for this series so I was a bit worried it would not live up to my expectations. I was proved wrong once again, though. These books were amazing, and I did not want to put them down.
Now, I do not want to give too much away, especially since this blog tour is for the last book in the series and a lot of people probably have not read the first book yet. I had being spoiled, so I do not want to do the same thing to anyone else. However, I can assure you that these books are full of action and drama (the good kind of drama, not the annoying kind...you all know what I'm talking about, and the differences between the two!). I guess just from reading the synopsis you can probably understand just how much the main characters go through. Each book is like a new adventure, and when I finished reading one I could not wait to dive into the next.
I really enjoyed the main character, Cassie. At first she was incredibly withdrawn and obviously affected by something that happened to her when she is younger. It has taken quite the toll on her and kept her from doing things that she used to love. Enter Trent; he is charming and wonderful, and is great for Cassie. Sure, sometimes I'm a little skeptical about feelings seeming so strong between characters when they are young, but I think that it worked really well here. Caldwell did a wonderful job of creating interesting, developed characters. Along with that, the whole plot and worlds they are involved in are well developed, too. Caldwell did a wonderful job of writing the series.
Ultimately, I am happy with the way the series ended. It is always difficult, falling in love with characters and getting three books with them, and then having it end so suddenly. I would be lying if I said I didn't have a book hangover when I was done. They were THAT good. I would certainly recommend this series to any YA fantasy fans.
*There may be some spoilers for the first two book in the series*
3.5/5
I really enjoyed this book and though I didn't find to be as engaging and thrilling as the first book it was still an enjoyable story and a good addition to the series. There's a dual POV between Cassie and Trent throughout this book which gives a great insight into both characters and of course plays a vital part in the story.
The story starts off exactly where the previous one ends and throws you right into the action, which is great for a series since we've already connected with the characters in the earlier books. Unfortunately the action kind of fizzles out from there, there's still a lot of drama and a couple of attempts at action/thriller parts but it seemed more like an attempt at repeating the formula of the previous books, rather than introducing any real threats. The drama was done well and the characters and feelings were all portrayed in a realistic, believable way. There were a few plot twists I disagreed with but it was still a very enjoyable story and I like learning more of Cassie and Trent.
My only real problem with this book was the use of the time-travel. I was fine with it being used as a tool to rewrite Cassie's history (repeatedly) but then I felt it should've been used in other ways, on other timelines, to rewrite others' histories until everything worked out perfectly. I know that reasons were given but I thought they were rather flimsy and Trent and Cassie should've tried harder to rewrite wrongs and make the world as they wanted, which was the same thing Trent had done for Cassie three times. Either experiment with the time-travel and use it as a tool, or just go on the missions and leave it at that - no rewriting.
This book was enjoyable and if you're a fan of time-travel I'd definitely recommend this series. There were just a few parts of this book that I didn't agree with and overall I found it enjoyable and a nice break from reality. An enjoyable YA series filled with drama, romance and (of course!) time-travel!
Wow, I am just shocked, and have some mixed feelings on how this book ended (especially as I am thinking this is the final book, but I hope not).
I love this series probably too much, so when this one shocking thing happens, I am very unhappy about it, and sad. I can’t say what as it would be a major spoiler so will leave it at that.
This book is non-stop intense excitement for me. The story really takes off, it has so many shocks for me. I can’t stress enough how awesome this series is as a whole. I think just about anyone can enjoy this. It’s got the time-travel in it, as well as some romance, mystery, drama and action. It is by far the best of the series, but in saying that, I hated the ending. I felt like it was unfinished a bit. I would be much happier if I knew this was not the end. Like I said, I am not sure, but thought I read somewhere that it was a trilogy, so my opinion will change a lot if there is going to be another book. I sure hope so. I can see this series could really have endless potential for a long series.
Well, I do not want to spoil it, so won’t say much more. I just love the characters, especially Trent, Cassie, and a favorite is his sister Lorelai.
I can’t recommend this enough; this series left me with a major book hangover. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend.
Cover Review: Love this cover the best of the 3. It really captures the concept of the book I think. The models used are perfect too. Overall great. It’s this cover that attracted me to this series. 5 of 5 stars for the cover.
Just when Trent and Cassie think they'll finally get the happy ending they deserve, Cassie finds herself jumping through time. Somehow she has obtained the ability to time travel after being present at the Sedona vortex at the time of Dr. Fox's death. She figures out she must complete her mission in order to get back, but this is easier said than done. In addition, while Trent and Lorelai can cover up his travels, Cassie has to deal with a complication they've never had - parental interference. In this life, Cassie's parents are once again happy, but a bit overprotective. The real trouble begins when her parents tell her she needs to stop seeing so much of Trent. And in this timeline, a new enemy also presents itself. It looks like no world is perfect. One thing we can be sure of - Cassie and Trent are destined to be together. But will they finally find their happily-ever-after?
Once again the story is told from the points-of-view of Cassie and Trent. The pace is hectic, as we follow Cassie on a few missions and wonder how she's going to deal with her sudden disappearances. The major (happy) incident that happens towards the end of the book may seem a bit over the top for a young adult book, however because of the time and place in which it occurs, it is perfect.
Just a reminder, never get your mother to do your editing. There are a number of editing errors including incorrect spelling (e.g., journies for journeys, eery for eerie), incorrect word usage (e.g., wreaks for wracks, shoot for shute, donned for dawned, base for bass, decimals for decibels, alter for altar, literary for literally, bare for bear, loaner for loner, duel for dual), and the mixing of past and present tenses.
All in all, this is a very satisfying conclusion to a great series.
I received this book in return for an honest review.
