Audrey Lang’s aunt’s house is the perfect safe hideaway—except for contractor Cam McKay. He’s there to complete renovations, not challenge Audrey’s traumatic beliefs in men. But unlike her ex-husband, he’s compassionate, compelling and breaking down all her protective barriers. Cam doesn’t know Audrey’s terrible past. He only knows that she’s become the most important woman in his life. Until her ex arrives on their doorstep…and every protective instinct he has will be needed to keep her safe.

I have been reading the Conard County books since they first came out in 1992. I have enjoyed all of them except this one. It was terrible. I thought it would never end. I should have skipped several chapters and read the last chapter.
The book was boring. It kept going on and on about Audrey and her problems. Then you throw in Clyde who seemed a little too much for a bird. The book went on and on with the same thing over and over. Audrey worrying about Paul finding her. Cam working on the house. Clyde flying around and talking.
Good read from Rachel Lee. Really like the Conard County series stories. This subject matter was heart wrenching as I've known a few people that went through that misery. Luckily for them they pulled through. Looking forward to reading the next installment.
