I’ve always been the underdog.
The reckless one.
A liability.
Never to be trusted.
But those who judge me, only judge the man I allow them to see.

The world I live in is a dangerous one.
Now that I’ve finally found my place in it,
The last thing I need is a distraction.

Lorna James is my sister's best friend.
She’s feisty, opinionated and knows exactly how to get under my skin.
She’s also the prettiest little thing I’ve ever seen.

I hate her.

And one reckless night is going to change everything….

I really enjoyed this!! I loved the communication between the MCs and their dynamic with one another.

I remember not loving 'Vows of Sin' so I was thoroughly surprised by how much this dynamic worked for me, considering its similar concept! The plot/drama made a lot of sense for this story, and overall I really liked it.

Now, this is the one with the pregnant heroine and the . I have a really bad memory with my books.

So, in this one, we have a one-night stand turned into a surprise pregnancy trope. As ever with this author, the whole book revolves around the pregnancy. Lorna fell into bed with her infuriating best friend's brother. Yes, the one she couldn't stand to be around, and he felt the same way. The surprise news brought them together, him wanting his baby momma to be close to him at all times and she, needing someone to scratch that itch. Well, it started as this casual parents-to-be-with-benefits, with no strings attached, but we all know how those pesky things always ended.

As for my thoughts, I kinda don't see them being together if the pregnancy didn't happen. Which is kinda sad, but that's my way of saying I can't feel their chemistry together at all. It was a big circumstantial feeling, right? I need some chemistry-building scenes between these two and not those that involve their sexy times. I just don't understand why they like each other or what connects them or what made them click. If these were addressed, I think I would root for them. As it is though, the romance itself is kinda weak for me.

But hey, if you're looking for smut only, then, it could work for you.

all i have to say is that the author never could quite remember if they had gone on vacation to malibu or miami and used them interchangeably. even once on the same page.

My Review:

This book was such a cute dark romance—yes, those two can go together! Nic and Lorna’s journey from enemies to lovers was addictive, and their love became all-consuming before I even realized it.

Nic is hands down one of the best MMC we’ve gotten from Lilah so far. He’s unhinged, possessive, and obsessive in the best way—exactly the kind of MMC that steals the show. 😍 And Lorna? Feisty, fiery, and absolutely amazing, just like she was in Madi’s book. I loved seeing her hold her own against Nic’s intensity.

Now, throw in mafia drama and an accidental pregnancy trope? SOLD. 🙌 It’s the perfect mix of angst, action, and spice that kept me hooked.
And as a cherry on top, seeing Madi and Dario again made my heart so happy. Lilah knows how to weave her characters together effortlessly. 💕
If you love dark romance with obsessive MMCs, strong FMCs, and a dash of mafia intrigue, you need to read this. 💫

I absolutely loved this book. As soon as it hit my kindle, I couldn't wait to start it, from cover to cover I was buried deep in the bare bones of the story, read way to late into the night but I could not put it down.
Lorna is Nic's sisters best friend and they hate eachother, One reckless night changes everything.
I loved watching there story blossom, it was raw and hot and sometimes heartbreaking, Nic's dirty mouth 🫠 everything about this book draws you in and holds you there. The way that the author has weaved this story makes you feel every single emotion right along side them.

“Pretty Little Disaster” has all the makings of the story I’ve been looking for. The elusive accidental/secret pregnancy trope doesn’t happen at the end of the story or in the epilogue. It occurs not only at the front end of the story but also at the central theme of the story. Yes, the pregnancy IS the story. And since this is a Lilah Raine book, it is about Mafia with the br33ding and shmilky shmink in it, too. What’s not to love?

Nic is Lorna’s best friend’s older brother. They’ve known each other, and he’s always viewed her as the irritating “kid.” Fast forward, stuff happens; they hook up. Oops, unexpected pregnancy! Nic gets protective and obsessed fast. It is utterly amazing. I loved how he wanted to learn everything he could about pregnancy and the baby—100% swoon-worthy. Lilah even includes some familiar characters from the previous Mafia book, which I loved. The spice scenes are fantastic. And the drama was exciting to the end. I liked this one a lot!

She gets pregnant the first time with her best friend’s annoying older brother after he swoops in to save the day. Initially, they barely tolerate each other, but after he insists she move in and starts taking care of her, reluctance turns into affection. The storyline wasn’t as unique as I usually expect from this author—this trope felt overused. I also didn’t like that she had no clear personal goals outside of graduating college; her major is never mentioned, nor whether she plans to work. Overall, it’s an average romance, a 3-star read.

DNFd

There is no chemistry between Lorena and Nic. There was no talk of “secret crushes” or always being attracted to each other. They hooked up and that was it.

Nic is also not an Alpha male. He whines and complains and just not it for me. I DNFd when he comes back and throws himself a pitty party and explains “why do you want a failure like me.” I’m all for alpha men showing their emotions, but do it in a way that’s more along the lines of “ I’m not going to fail you” rather than “ I’m such a failure. Why do you want me?”

the grammar was soooo bad

The grammar in this book was so painful I couldn’t get past the first chapter. I’ve liked this authors books in the past, but what happened here?!

“Right now, it kind of feels as if she belongs to me, and I like it far too much than I care to admit.”

…What?

Please, PLEASE, get an editor. Or at least read it aloud before you publish.

I run to my kindle every time Lilah Raine publishes a new book, and rightfully so! These books are a perfect combination alpha men, steamy smut/breeding, and drama! I love with this one we get a peak at past characters, continuing the story with the Mafia we already know. I can’t wait to see if Cass is next in line for her own mafia man! 👀

This was adorable! Nic was so protective but he was not completely OTT. He didn’t pressure Lorna and allowed her to have her choices💗

Don’t judge me, but enemies to lovers isn’t my favorite trope, so I wasn’t super excited about this book after reading Vows of Sin and it teasing this couple. But I usually love Lilah Raine and needed something to help with a book slump I was in. And let me tell you, she did it again. Nic and Lorna get on each other’s nerves but it was the underlying attraction neither would admit to. But once they gave in and it became more was so good. Nic is OTT obsessed with Lorna and is so protective when he finds out she is pregnant. The breeding dirty talk and spice was perfection. Very high heat and minimal angst. The light mafia and twist was entertaining but not overwhelming.I loved seeing Madalina and Dario (Vows of Sin).

“Who knew hating something could feel so good.”

A chance meeting and there she was in the club.
Your little sister's best friend, without the braids in her dark locks.
How did she become such a stunning beauty and yet you can’t stand her?

Until you see the danger before she does and become her dark knight whisking her away.

A stolen moment shared with heated passion…but it will change everything between them.

“You love knowing that no matter how much you hate me, I’m still going to take care of you.”

Nic Conte is going to storm into your lives and make you pull the pages, as this playboy mafia killer's life is flipped over leaving him feeling vulnerable. All thanks to his younger sister's best friend, Lorna James casting an unknown spell over him and with news that neither of them expected.

After a one night fling Lorna finds out she is pregnant and it’s not what she dreamed of when finishing college. Let alone having to move into a new home with a man she can barely stand…The tensions are running high between both characters, but the one thing they can agree on is keeping their unborn baby safe.

There are some perfect moments in this story that will have you smiling as you picture this big bad mafia Nic in a bookstore looking up pregnancy books, to Lorna struggling with some interesting cravings that only Nic can help her with.

It is a slow burn, with hot spells causing storms and raising voices with them both coming to the terms that they are going to be parents.

Of course, there are some storm clouds brewing, blood is thicker than water but what is the cost of losing everything when it really matters?

Can the one you hate, be the one to hold you up?

“Maybe what I wanted all along was right there in front of me, I wasn’t seeing it.”

I had absolutely no idea that this book was due to be released until it landed on my kindle, and it was the best new years present. The only issue is that I currently have a houseful of kids and finding time to sneak off and read this was hard. But once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down.

Lilah Raine is one of those authors I'm sure has a direct line to my very private reading kinks. And I read this whole book while squirming. But I had no idea that this one is the brother of a previous FMC. So, as I was reading it I suddenly had an ah ha moment. That said I feel like I've read so many Mafia, arranged marriage books recently they have all kind of merged and I can't really remember the exact details.

But Lorna and Nic were so freaking hot. And surprisingly they were also really sweet, and I loved that Nic was a complete marshmallow for Lorna while also being incredibly protective and possessive. And an absolute morally grey hero.

The story had the perfect amount of twists and turns. And although it was 90% breeding smut the story kept me turning the pages to see how things were going to play out. And despite the fact that this has characters from a previous book, and they are reasonably present in this book it is a complete standalone. I don't think you miss anything if you read this one first.

Now I'm off to stalk the author to see what else I've missed while being caught up in the Christmas fog.

❤️Thoughts❤️

I couldn’t put this book down! The scorching tension between Nic and Lorna will hook you from page one and won’t let go.

Lorna, Nic’s sister’s best friend, has always been aware of his family’s less-than-law-abiding activities. But she never expected a single night with Nic to lead to an accidental pregnancy—and into the mafia world.

Nic is unforgettable—intense, possessive, and completely captivated by Lorna after their night together. When he discovers she’s carrying his baby, all bets are off. He’ll stop at nothing to claim her, protect her, and let the world know she belongs to him. Their chemistry is off the charts, and you’ll feel every bit of the passion, tension, and vulnerability as they navigate their new reality.

But it’s not all romance—Pretty Little Disaster is packed with twists that’ll leave your jaw on the floor. Just when you think you know what’s coming, the story flips the script, adding layers of angst, danger, and betrayal. The cast of fiercely loyal friends, an unexpected backstabber, and Nic’s unwavering determination to protect what’s his make this book impossible to put down.

Trust me—you’ll devour this in one sitting! Read it now.

Took me a few days to finish it because of school works, but if I got nothing to do I could finish this within a day because I really enjoyed reading this!

I would say Nic is the sweetest MMC of this series so far, followed by Jace. He’s so patient and understanding with Lorna! He’s like the perfect husband material (minus the fact that he’s a killer and in the mafia). At first I thought I would dislike his character in this story because his scenes in Dario and Madalina’s book were really annoying. I thought that he might be an asshole—surprisingly he’s not at least with Lorna—but I’m glad that he’s changed and stepped up for Lorna. What I also appreciate in this story is how open and communicative their relationship is. Lorna doesn’t let her thoughts keep to herself and actually voice it out to Nic—which is so important to all relationships.

I almost felt bad for the Jonah guy though, then I remember what he did and it was really bad and he deserved the consequences, but his desperation situation ate him inside which made him go into the mafia trap. Other than that, I liked Nic’s and Lorna story! It’s so easy to read, sex scenes were hot, and the characters are likable. With that, 4.5 stars!

Can’t wait for the next book of this series to come!

I’m a big fan of Lilah Raine’s books, and her breeding scenes are unmatched for me. This story hooked me right from the start with two characters who can’t stand each other—until they do.

Nic & Lorna
He’s her best friend’s brother. One accidental one-night stand flips their entire dynamic, kicking off a whirlwind romance. Honestly, I think they were always into each other; it was just easier to pretend they hated one another.

I loved how Nic went into full “daddy” mode—moving her in, stepping up for her, and even pushing himself in his district to ensure he could provide for his family. That level of devotion was everything.

The twist with Lorna’s dad caught me off guard. I wish we’d gotten more backstory beyond the whole Russian gun deal gone wrong. What was he really up to all those years?

And Jonah? I did not see that betrayal coming. I gasped when he pulled the gun on her. The way the story came full circle—revealing Jonah as the one who killed the other district leader’s daughter (and got her pregnant!)—was wild.

It was definitely time for Jonah to go. I appreciated that while Nic protected Lorna, he still handled business when it mattered most.

We love a good enemies to one night stand to begrudgingly together/okay with each other to love story. I really liked Nic's growth from playboy to family man and leader, and when he bought all the pregnancy books? Men doing the homework is chefs kiss!

Seeing as I've never been pregnant, take this with a grain of salt - but I felt like Lorna was written with the stereotypical pregnant woman tropes - overly emotional, mood swings, etc. Like I get her pregnancy was the whole point of the book and most women do experience that, it just felt like that's all she was, and I didn't get much more from her character.

The spice was solid, and I could definitely feel Nic's love for her/her body the whole book.

That said, I don't know if this went through any editing/proofreading. There were a few spots where it went from Nic to Nik to Nick, using ' instead of " at the start of a piece of dialogue and wrong pronouns - ex. it was a chapter written from Nic's perspective, and when he was talking about Lorna it referred to her/she as him/he. For some folks that would be pretty minor, but it took me out of it at some parts.

Anything this author writes I loves in this read we get older best friends brother and what happened when she told her best friend made my jaw drop because I was not expecting that to happen lol . Their little I hate you , adore you dynamic I loved because we get to see their relationship blossom see the, let their guards down and be honest with each other . Seeing Dario be possessive , and doing everyday things , making sure she eats right just seeing them over the months , him growing more into his dad role .I love seeing women get smothered in love and catered on during this time making sure she has no worries in college. I enjoyed this plot because the mystery was interesting pertaining to her dad and where he is the twist I diddnt see coming because he was warming her from somebody and we just don’t know who he’s talking bout but as time goes and the after scene of what happened the crazy night I can honestly say I wasn’t expecting the plot twist at the end seeing who was working against them . Can’t wait for the next read .

A nicely done 3.5 star Mafia read

I’m a fan of Lilah Raine (I’ve read 2 books by her and loved them both) this made me auto select this book and dive right in. It’s a cross between Mafia, a little dark grey and a little possessive obsession. The spïcy scenes were on point and, as always, some of the spicïest ones in books. Her smüt level is awesome in all books so far. Oodles of it and I’m not mad at it!
Our H Nick? Was a good hearted tough guy. He did what had to be done to get where he needed to go but wasn’t proud of it as the story moved along. Once he realized his feelings for Lorna WEREN’T negative ones he really dove in head 1st without any hesitation.
The we have our h, Lorna who was not my favorite. I just didn’t gel with her for some reason. She was a cross between petulant and loving. Weird combo for sure.
All in all still a good read. I don’t think Lilah COULD write a “bad” book but this one was not my favorite. I read a few books in between but kept coming back for more.

I’ll say it over and over again. Lilah could write anything and i’d read it. This one was different than the others i’ve read by her, but I absolutely loved it.

Nic was everything you want in a book boyfriend and more. Lorna was everything you want in a fmc and more. Them together was even better. I love a good enemies to lovers trope and this one gave me everything I want from that. I love the chemistry that she can make between characters in her books, even those that aren’t between the main one. Watching Nic let himself love someone, let himself love Lorna, is one of my favorite things.

After this one, i’ve realized I don’t read enough best friends brother and now I need too.

Once I’d started reading this, I just couldn’t stop turning the pages. The storyline wound me in from the start. Nic Conte is your typical Mafia character; possessive, morally grey and waving all those red flags that I like so much! However, he goes on a bit of an emotional journey throughout the book, having to face, and come to terms with, feelings he initially doesn’t want to accept. I loved his interaction with Dario and the love/hate relationship he and Lorna have.
The reader may have met some of the characters in a previous book “Vows of Sin” but it isn’t necessary to have read that to be able to enjoy this one. There’s plenty of spice and steam, drama and the importance of family runs throughout the whole book. There are some plot twists thrown in along the way, one of which I had no idea about until I read it on the pages in front of me.
I liked the fact that all the loose ends were tied up by the end of the book and don’t forget to download the bonus scene too!

I liked this, but I didn't love it. It's about Nic and Lorna. Nic is Lorna's best friend's older brother. They hook up once and she loses her vcard and they part ways. Soon, though, she learns she's pregnant. Nic is immediately enthralled and moves her into his house. They work through the pregnancy and other things.

It was a solid read, I enjoyed it. It could've had a bit more spice and chemistry though. They fall for each other pretty quickly. I loved that this had pregnancy throughout the book, though! You get to see all the milestones. :)

SAFETY:
Virgin/manwhore/celibate: virgin heroine, hero not a manwhore
OM/OW: none
Cheating/sharing: none
Triggers: pregnancy throughout
Kinks: breeding, dirty talk, good girl/praise, hand necklace, pushes it back inside, rough sex

Pretty Little Disaster follows the journey of Lorna and Nic. This book has a marvelous plot, wonderful characters, and a breathtaking ending for the main characters. Pretty Little Disaster is beautifully written, exceptionally balanced and perfectly executed by Lilah Raine. This book was completely captivating from beginning to end and I didn’t want to set the book down until I read the last page. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. I thought that this book to be quite entertaining and enjoyable to read. Pretty Little Disaster is the first book that I have read by Lilah Raine and I was completely blown away with this amazing book. I’m definitely going to checkout more of this author’s work in the near future. I would absolutely give this book as a recommendation for anyone to checkout and give it a read.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Another adorable pregnancy story by Lilah Raine 😊 I didn’t like this one as much as the others and found it slow to get through. I feel this was partial because it was an accidental pregnancy between Vows of Sin side characters Lorna and Nic. It felt like a side character book for the most part but I really enjoyed the ending. Lilah Raine pulled off her classic third act twist that I (mostly) always enjoy. Having read nearly all of her books I’ve enjoyed seeing her story telling develop with each book. With that being said I took a star off for the slowness of the book, and another star off for Nic and Lorna’s personalities. I feel as though they were written very different in this book from how they were presented in the first book. If an author is going to write a side character book then I feel as though those characters should be more flushed out in the original in order to set up for the next story. 🤷‍♀️
