Ashlock's ascension to the Nascent Soul Realm attracts all the wrong attention.
It turns out a spirit tree calling down the wrath of heavens and forming an Inner World is quite the spectacle, so Vincent Nightrose—an ancient threat that has loomed over Ashlock and his sect for far too long—awakens and deems Stella Crestfallen's bloodline ripe for harvesting.
While Ashlock has ascended to Nascent Soul Realm, Vincent Nightrose is an ancient cultivator far above his level. To survive, the Ashfallen Sect must seek to destroy the Blood Lotus Sect from within, starting with those closest to Vincent.
Ashlock must also expand his reach and power as the secrets behind Stella's origin are unraveled and the beast tide draws ever closer. Things are heating up as enemies far above Ashlock's station surround him on all sides.
Book 5 of a unique reincarnation isekai LitRPG Series set in a Cultivator world. With millions of views and tens of thousands of followers, this was one of the most popular web serials of 2023. Now, experience the definitive version of the hit story on Kindle, Print, & Audible!
XKarnation never lets us down! Really fun as always, love the progression across this arch, really feels like we're seeing the initial plot threads resolved.
Solid popcorn read. Written very well, like always. Only downside is that it's a bit anti-climatic compared to the set up at the beginning of the novel.
.. Characters to stupid/inconsistent. Especially Stella. Since when isn't Tree a divine entity? He was even literally recognised as such in book 4 by the heavens on top of all the rest. So chapter 5 and Stella's mentality and 180 behaviour comes across questionable the way it switches. Where did her gravitas and sense of worth go? Why act like rabbits jumpy twitchy and so on not even trying to keep their cool!? Ashlock is also contrivedly stupid . I find this style of storytelling annoying. Frustration engagement for drama.. having the characters do obviously inane things or assume/draw nonsensical conclusions.
There are also size & volume descriptive errors that could possibly be ignored as hyperbole but still caused immersion issues for me.
Vincent Nightrose has been talked up for four straight books at this point, so if he fell flat then the story dies with a whimper. Needless to say, Xkarnation did not disappoint! Vincent isn't an antagonist with shades of gray like Nox, he is a true tyrannical villain down to his core and that was perfectly depicted.
The story focusing on the tournament within Ashlock's soul along with the investigation was so entertaining. I loved seeing Stella's dual sides in this situation.
Two five star books in a row. Damn fine work Xkarnation! I really hope this series gets an anime adaptation.
Ive been thoroughly enjoying the action and world building of this series and cant wait for book 5. This volume is was a little light on the big action of some of the earlier ones and slwas heavier on the set up for a big climax against a major antagonist to take place in the next volume.
I can't overstate how much this series is the perfect balance between all my favorite genres of litrpg and wuxia ascension novels. Team Stella for life!!!
if you enjoy xianxia, cultivation, litrpg, or fantasy you should give this a read. it's well written and edited thoroughly. I've been reading xkarnations books for awhile now, and somehow he gets better with each one.
It’s awesome how in this series the characters grow. In most of the books it’s often forgotten here the character development and world building are the focus. I love it
Ashlock and gang continue to grow in power. He is now near maxed out. A murder occurs and Stella plays detective. And a tournament happens. Great installment. Fun story and world. Please enjoy
Grabbed this off Kindle Unlimited. I’m still very invested in this series and have even started reading it on Royal Road.
Not as many big events happen in this book, but we get more development for Stella, which I enjoyed. The quality and humor are consistent with the previous books, so if you liked those, you’ll like this one too.
I love the whole "reincarnated in another world as a non-human" premise, and this series continues to do it well.
Solid 4 out of 5 for me. Mostly leaving this review because the author mentioned this book isn’t getting as much attention as the previous ones!
