Dark. Powerful. Dangerous.

Philip Murphy has all of Chicago under his thumb. Except me.

We met in a perfect storm of violence and lust. He saved me and then disappeared from my life. Now I pretend I never knew that kind of darkness. I focus on midterms and campus parties, as if they can wipe the slate clean.

Then he turns up outside my dorm room—wounded and barely conscious. He’s the head of a crime syndicate, a powerful man, but he needs me now. There are traitors in his midst.

I can help him, but I can’t fall for him.

Not again.

This is more than just a story, it has a pulse! This story reintroduces you to Ella aka Claire and takes you through her childhood and then how she came to know Philip. It can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend you start this series from the beginning with Rough.

Ella is thrust into a world of violence when she is kidnapped by men her dad owes money to. They literally throw her to the wolves and expect her to pay his debt with her body. Luckily she is saved by Shelly, a prostitute with a heart of gold who is tired of the life. That is when Ella is put in the path of Philip. From the moment they meet there is a spark. But she is too young and he is a powerful and dangerous man, there is no way they can have a future and they part ways, Ella goes back to her family to put the broken pieces of her life back together. That is when the story fast forwards a few years, Ella is now a college student doing her best to put the past behind her. But, what she doesn't know is Philip is close by waiting and watching. Watching Ella's every move, waiting for the day he can claim her. But, there are forces waiting to take Philip down by any means necessary, and their journey together will be a rough one. Secrets are revealed, lies are brought to the light, and danger is around every corner. They can trust no one, maybe not even each other.

Philip and Ella's chemistry is explosive and the love scenes made my heart skip a beat. Some of the things he says to Ella made my heart palpitate. Philip is so full of passion and he pushes Ella past her limits, he breaks her down and puts her back together again. And Ella does the same to him, they rip each other apart and are left bleeding and bruised on the floor before it's all said and done.

Skye Warren has a unique way of bringing two characters together and some how find a way to make their broken pieces fit together to become one strong and whole person. She melds their souls and creates a beautifully raw and unforgettable love story.

Deep is an incredibly erotic, emotionally captivating story that left me craving for more. Skye Warren consistently delivers raw, powerful, and seductive writing that grabs ahold of the reader with full force and doesn't let go. Ella and Philip met during a tumultuous time three years ago, surrounded by danger and uncertainty. They had a deep, unexplainable connection even when they were practically strangers, but due to their circumstances, nothing came of it and they went back to their separate lives. Fast forward three years later, and they come back together with a crash as danger once again chases them. This time, there is no force strong enough to keep them from diving head-first into each other. Together the two of them create an epic storm of passion, obsession, and sex so hot, you will need a cold glass of water nearby while reading.

This author is so brilliant at creating complex, multi-faceted characters. Philip was such an enigma, and it was fascinating to peel back his layers and find out who he was and what made him tick. I don't think there was anything about him that I didn't love, and its going to be very hard to find a male character that tops him in my book. He was a man who was driven and determined, someone who built an empire from nothing and loved his family fiercely. At the same time, he was callous and dangerous, a criminal who unapologetically calculated every move. I loved the way he was with Ella. He was so utterly enthralled with her to the point of obsession. He was so possessive of her, and protected her even when she didn't know he was near. He was willing to kill for her, go to war for her, and nothing was more important to him than keeping her safe.

"I'll always protect you, Ella. That's a promise."

Ella was an amazing character. My heart broke for her so many times. All her life, she craved normalcy and a sense of belonging. She had gone through life feeling unwanted and unloved, both by her birth parents and adoptive parents. What she went through three years prior changed her deeply, and her yearning for love was so strong. Through everything she had endured, her heart belonged only to one man. She knew that Philip could never give her the traditional happiness that she strived for, yet that didn't stop her from wanting him with every fiber of her being. No one could measure up to the man that she fell for in just a few weeks those three years ago, and when they came face to face again, she was powerless in stopping her heart from surrendering all over again.

"He'd made me want something I shouldn't, awoken a slumbering dragon inside me. And now that I had seen Philip, wanted him, there would be no turning back."

I loved Philip and Ella's connection, the intense and immediate chemistry that existed from their first meeting and grew in intensity as time went on. Not even their physical separation could dim the fire that burned so fiercely between them. No one but Ella could get into Philip's head the way she did, and no one but Philip could take Ella apart piece by piece and put her back together again. They broke down each other's walls they only ways they knew how.

"We are not equals. I am the bars and you are inside me, trapped here, and I'm never fu**ing letting you go. You can touch me, you can fight me. But you can't ever leave."

The connection was there during their every interaction, but especially came out when they came together physically. Skye Warren knows how to write a hot sex scene, and the sex between these two was some of the best I have ever read. Each encounter grew more and more intense, and I couldn't get enough of Philip's sexy, dominating ways. He was such a dirty-talker, so demanding and possessive, and so singularly focused on Ella and making her his.

"I loved the way I felt when he touched me, as if he were the soil wrapped around my roots, holding me so tight I could never get free."

This author has an amazing ability of creating story lines that are equal parts dark and gritty and beautiful. She weaves these elements together perfectly, creating a compelling story that is both thrilling and emotionally charged. The dark elements of the storyline of this book never overshadow the incredible emotional connection between Philip and Ella. Both of them try to fight it in their own ways, with Ella believing that their time together is temporary, and Philip believing that happiness is an impossibility for him. Watching them struggle was heartbreaking, because there was nothing that I wanted more for these two broken people than the happiness that they both deserved. As a fan of this series from book 1, I was so thrilled at the way the author tied things up at the end. That epilogue was so well done and so beautiful, I had tears streaming down my face as a read the final words. This was an explosive, gritty, stunning story, one that was brilliantly written and flawlessly executed.

5 Deep, Dark & Sexy Stars!

This is my second Skye Warren book and it’s definitely not my last. I was hooked from the first page until the last. And even then I wanted more! I loved every second of this intense roller coaster and would love to take the ride again. Philip is dark, dangerous, and so sinfully sexy. Ella is the beautifully broken girl, that tugs at your heart. You feel every emotion that she does as we follow her through her journey.

Philip Murphy is dark, dangerous and sexy. Ella shouldn’t want him, she shouldn’t fall for him, because he’s not the man for her. The first time she met him, she was young, broken, and looking for something. A connection? Love? Family? Something that Philip can never give her. They both know it, but that’s not how fate sees it. The connection between the two is unmistakable. It’s undeniable, bu nothing can happen, yet.

Deep – Skye Warren

Ella moves on, attends University, but there is only one man that will hold her heart, mind, and body. The one man that she can never be with. But when he shows up at her door, bleeding, there is only one thing she can do. Help him.

Deep – Skye Warren

This book had me on a rollercoaster of emotion, suspense, and had my Kindle melting with the scorching sex. Philip and Ella have a volatile, dangerous, sexy connection. Is the connection between them strong enough to withstand everything that gets thrown at them? This is a MUST READ in all sense of the word.

MY RATING

“The tale is as old as time—boy meets girl. Boy saves girl. Boy leaves.
A broken heart"

DEEP: Claire is thrust into a world of violence when she is kidnapped at a club (The Meat Market) a shady underground club in an even shadier part of town, by men that her step-father owes a lot of money to.

They dragged me out the back door, where a car was waiting. And I knew I wouldn't be going home for a long time.

Things at this stage could've gone very very dark, she was tied and chained to bathroom pipes left and left there for days, on the fourth day many men in suits came to take payment from her body. A way for Claire to pay off her family's debts, was explained to her.

My fathers gambling debts got me into this.

Luckily for Claire a call girl named of Shelly comes to her rescue, takes her to the only place that can keep them safe (out of the frying pan and into the fire) where they are going no one is any deadlier than Philip. But if your under Philip's protection no one will touch you!!

“All the loneliness, all the fear that kept me isolated. All of it had led me to him."

An undeniable attraction between Philip and Claire who now goes by the name Ella occurs but not acted on..

“I’ll always protect you, Ella. That’s a promise”

Philip is a powerful and very dangerous man he's the head man of an underground crime syndicate, and has his finger on every pulse in the city, everyone is under his thumb. Things start heating up when it's discovered that he has a traitor in his midst.

All my life I had been searching for acceptance, destined to love people who would not love me back. Parents I had never known and parents who had adopted me. ~ Ella

THREE YEARS LATER:
Years go by, Ella is now attending University studying sociology, trying to move on from her scary ordeal, with only one man in her mind and heart..

I had met Philip in a blur of crime and bad decisions. He'd been handsome and powerful.
And there's been something between us, something dark.

BUT then out of the blue he turns up on her door step at Uni, half unconscious and severely injured by a knife wound, bleeding out, Ella does the best she can to stem the blood flow, makes him rest up..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm always here, wherever you go, I follow. watching you, waiting for you, wanting you. The only difference is last night - I didn't leave.

All Ella wants and craves the most in life is to be loved by a real family, to be shown real kindness, real love, she knows deep in her heart that Philip is incapable of giving her all of that.

I trusted him, this man who showed the world his dark side.

This is my life now, guns, liquor and sex.

Another kidnapping, another family member, this time it's her step brother that's in trouble..

He was a glittering diamond, a flash on the surface and startling depth. I could look at him forever and never see every part of him.

MY THOUGHTS
This is borderline dark, it's gritty, intense,a fast paced story line, I liked the fact that it was slow moving with these two characters, it wasn't insta love, he watched from afar, kept her under his protection, until he couldn't fight the attraction any longer. I haven't read any of the previous books within this series but I think it's probably vital that you do, you're depriving yourself if you don't, going by some of the other reviews on here this book is a lead up to the characters Philip and Ella..

ARC kindly provided by Skye Warren in exchange for an honest review.

Intriguing, raw and captivating, this book sizzles with intensity and achingly real characters! Do not miss out! I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite Skye Warren books! She managed to create a believable storyline and at the same time blend it with her usual edgy writing style!
Claire is a young girl that finds out early in her life that she was adopted. Since that day she knew, felt, that she didn't matter at all. When she finds herself in danger because of her adoptive father, she knows that her life as she knew it is gone.
Trapped in the hands of men who want nothing but to make her father pay, she is thrust into a life of fear and danger; she is given away as a toy for the satisfaction of seedy men with vicious appetites.
One woman will be the one to change her very dark future and one man will forever alter her life.
Philip Murphy is not a kind man. He is as dark and dangerous as the men who took Claire, but when the fifteen year old girl is thrust into his life, he can sense there is a connection between them.
Changing her name is the first thing Claire does, but when she meets Philip, everything else freezes in time.

He reminded me of a glittering diamond, all angles and weight, reflecting back instead of letting me see inside.

She wants to stay under his protection and she is willing to do anything to earn her stay in his house. But she is too young and anything between them is forbidden and wrong.

"You know what they say about curiosity and the cat."
Curiosity killed the cat-a dangerous situation for sure. "I am not a cat,"I said hotly.
He ran a hand over my hair, a gentle caress. Petting me.
"I don't know," he mused. "You have claws."

Claire is no longer a child. She has been forced to grow up too fast and so, when she finally has a chance at a normal life and away from Philip, she grasps it.

I could be someone else, someone who didn't live in fear. Except all I could see was Philip's dark eyes when he looked at me the very first time, as if I was something precious he had found.

She goes to college, studying sociology but she can't forget Philip. So, when he shows up on her doorstep years later, bleeding to death she knows she has to help him.
Her life takes an unexpected turn that night. Philip has not forgotten either. He is back to claim what he couldn't all those years ago.

"I'm always here. Wherever you go, I follow. Watching you, waiting for you. Wanting you. The only difference is last night I didn't leave."

Twisted attraction is what binds these two and Philip is no longer willing to let Claire go. He will save her because she is his, he will take her because he owns her.
When their lives are in mortal danger, she will have to trust the most dangerous of men; the man she has always craved.
Claire will fight for her life while battling the demons of her traumatic past. Philip will protect her but he will make sure she knows that he can own her body and that she can no longer make decisions on her own.

Follow these two as they take the path towards revenge and freedom from everything that haunts them.
I love gritty, wrong and forbidden storylines so I know that I will find everything I need in Skye Warren's work. Her books are deliciously dark and sensual and when you combine her amazing writing skill you've got the perfectly edgy book with the perfectly dark characters.
If you are offended by dark themes and age difference between characters, then maybe this is not for you. If you are looking for an exhilarating read with a pinch of darkness and utter sensuality, then this is for you. One of my favorite dark reads of 2016! Do not miss it.

This is not my first Skye Warren book, though it is my first book in the Chicago underground series.
I saw reviews on Goodreads where people were recommending to read the books in order, but let me tell you, you can read this as a standalone if you really want to.
I was able to put all the pieces together even If I haven't read the previous books within the series.
First few chapters were really hard to read... dark and gritty with kidnapping involved, I felt my stomach turn a few times.
I think that sometimes the age gap between two main characters is just too much for my taste, but in this book it felt quite right. Dangerous, powerful man and young broken unfortunate girl, and you have a win win situation here.
If you like intense darker, emotional, compelling reads were secrets are revealed, bad people lurking behind every door and captivating sexy romance, read this one!

DNF @ 64%. I never felt the connection between the h and H. I kept on trying to keep with it, but I just never felt it. He was supposed to be a mysterious bad guy, but I didn't get his obsession with the h. He was just cold IMO. I started to skim to see if it got any better, and it doesn't seem like it does. I didn't like the h much either. She was so desperate for any affection that she would act tough one second but then revert back to doormat status the next. Sorry, I couldn't do it....

This book hooked me from the very beginning. When Ella is kidnapped as a teenager, this book sets off on a dark and twisted journey. Phillip kept her safe until the danger was over, but then disappeared from her life almost completely with no contact except for a sporadic postcard. Ella somehow scratches the pieces of her life together and has found a semblance of normalcy in college life. She’s obviously surprised then when, years later, Phillip appears at her dorm door bloodied and barely breathing. It seems she hasn’t quite escaped a life of danger and violence.

Like I said, the book hooked me from the very beginning, but it lost me around the halfway point. What initially promised to be a dark and dangerous with an epic passion, fell a little flat for me. My biggest problem was with the romance between Ella and Phillip. I struggled to maintain a connection to these two and although the sex was really hot it felt a bit like watching porn; while the scene playing out in front of you may be hot enough to excite you, it still feels sort of robotic because there’s no tangible fire or real connection to the characters. It also bothered me that whenever Ella was upset or challenged Phillip, he gave her an orgasm and all was forgotten. It became predictable and pretty repetitive and instead of some tension being built, what I was left with was an anti-climactic (pardon the pun) resolution to their conflicts.

I found Phillip to be quite an interesting character. I loved his filthy mouth and his mystery. He was hard and cold and dangerous. Where the darkness is often played off against sweetness in darker romance novels, Phillip had seemingly no soft edges. But what did have was a lot of mystery. Little snippets were given into his being that made him all the more interesting but there was never a clear resolution or huge discussion over how he came to be such a hard man. You’re left to figure out most of that on your own, which I appreciated.

Although there were certain points I wished were explored a little better, this still made for an exciting read. I thought the plot was quite well laid out with loads of twists and action which didn’t always play out exactly how I expected it to. All in all, and even though I found myself sighing in frustration a few times, this was still an enjoyable and fast paced read.

Why is it that the thrill of a dangerous man or profession makes it seem so exciting?
In this book, the hero is a crime boss who personified the meaning of the words "crime boss",there is danger to him,he has killed ,he also has a deep love of family. He also has a deep obession with the heroine of this dark mafia romance.Dark romances is usually not my read of choice,I prefer the lighter romances, the less brutal and gritty. But,this book really sucked me in to the story of a young girl who was kidnapped, tied to a radiator in a tenement bathroom, physically assaulted, inappropriately touched, and was ultimately saved by the crime boss hero.Their story picked up years later when the heroine is a young college student in her dorm room when one night ,her savior is outside her door wounded and bleeding.
What a read this turned out to be,there were a few issues with this hero that I did not like, but it was part of who he was and is . Ultimately, I did enjoy this book.It is part of a series, but I never felt that I did not know what was going on.May go back and read about some of the other characters who interested me.

“Deep” by Skye Warren belongs to the “Chicago Underground” series but can be read as a Standalone. – which basically I did – as it was my first book by this author ever.

Normally I am not into “mop” or “crime boss” novels – and it was honestly actually my co-blogger that requested that book first. But when the time for receiving the ARC came – she was busy so I volunteered to read the book to finish the review on time.

Finishing that book I am left with on word

“WOW”

Skye Warren has a great way of capturing the interest of her readers. I can honestly say the book reads well as a standalone – I would have never guessed by the story flow that there had to be more books.

During reading there was only one question that popped into my mind that you could consider related to the fact that this is a series and that was that - I could not for the life of me - find out how old Philip actually is.
And interesting enough there is no real description of his looks (or did I over read something?) – so those might be points that have been discussed in previous books.

I loved the dynamics between the characters and the dialogues were great. There was only one short moment towards the end that the story faltered in my opinion and I was not sure if I was going to lose a star.
But somehow – NO – I don’t want to … the story was overall great and if I take into consideration that I am very reluctant with “crime boss” stories me giving 5 stars says plenty about that book

Well actually I am even considering reading the other books by this author as well…

I have no idea what other people were reading, because what I read was not great at all. This story line jumped all over the place and had no depth. I swear this story made no sense. I kept thinking that it would eventually get better. This is my first book that I have read in this series, and quite frankly it will be the last. The portrayal of the male as an alpha missed so many marks. The female was simpering one minute, trying to be strong the next, and lost other times. It was just too many variables in this book that were not explained or were glossed over. For example: the insane half brother that came out of no where who was sleeping with the other characters teen brother. I did not believe at all that the male ran Chicago.

Skye Warren's books always have me teetering on the edge between shock and bliss. This time, the edge has a name.

Philip.

Dark, toxic, overpoweringly sensual Philip.

The author's writing style is melancholic and knowledgeable in the flaws of life. Incendiary when it comes to carnal descriptions that never fail to grab you by the emotions.

The story of Philip and Ella was started in a different book, so this one retraces those first steps from Ella's perspective to rekindle the memories and the feelings. Now I understand Ella even better, her need to please, to be loved, to be worthy. I could also feel the inextricable threads that link her to the intense man whom she hasn't been able to forget and now lands at her feet again in a rush of danger, secrets and dark lust.

A pact with the devil, that's what Deep means. Ella's character is drawn to a criminal in two ways. She needs him to battle the demons in her life, but also in a deeper level, intimate and shameful. How is it that we crave the things that hurt us the most? I don't know really, yet this author rises those questions in her characters.

Ella and Philip share that forbidden, impossible connection. Every time they speak, every time they touch, it's like a circle getting tighter around them. He exudes dark power and she fears it, yearns for it too. I loved that duality of destruction and inherent hope.

With criminals and cops hovering around them, they fight to survive every danger at the same time they deepen their wounded bond. I felt every escalating scene of intimacy with collapsing force.

If you're looking for a dark romance where the heroine is strong-minded yet at the mercy of a tainted love, you've found your perfect read. This man is the king of a ruthless criminal empire set in Chicago. He's impossible to love and impossible to resist. Wait till you hear his dirty words, his harsh deeds, and his twisted sense of protection.

Deep is also a story about choices, the lack of them and the fight to win them back. A story of roots and identity, of where love can be found, even in the most undeserved of places. An amazing, hotter-than-ever finale to an extremely satisfying series.

"I was always coming for you, kitten. You were always mine."

This book started out really good, I was hooked and the story really piqued my interest. Ella/Claire finds out something about her family that breaks her heart but also really explains why her parents are treating her the way they do. This results in Ella rebelling and hanging out with the wrong crowd. She find herself in a very dangerous situation that wasn't her doing.

"We will never be a normal couple."

I don't want to go in to depth in how she escapes but she does meet Philip after this for the first time. You just can't ignore Philip's presence, and Ella feels scared and doesn't know what to expect. There is definitely attraction between the two but she is too young. She goes back to her family and doesn't hear from Philip for a long time.

"There isn't a part of you I'm not going to touch, isn't a wall I'm not going to break down. Understand? You want to know how much you'll pay? Everything, kitten. Every damn thing."

While Ella is in college Philip makes an appearance and the sparks fly of the book. Philip is truly a dangerous alpha male that is involved with some shady business. Both of them have been through a lot in their past which has resulted in them being the way they are now.

"You're wrong. I dream about breaking you. About shackling you to me. About keeping you hidden, so no one gets to look at you but me."

The love scenes were amazing, they were really hot and made me love Philip even more. Philip wants to own Ella and doesn't hide it. There were a couple of twists in the book that added another layer to the story which I really liked.

“He kissed me as if to prove his words, a research paper written with his tongue and his teeth, an argument he made, an invasion of my mouth.”

Philip is possessive, controlling, and sexy as hell. He gets what he wants, whenever he wants it. So when he meets Ella the first time, he is taken back by his reasoning to let her go. But only tell he is ready. Ella is a young women forced to become and adult way too early in anyone’s eyes. She escapes danger, only to be consumed by the devil himself (or very close).

But when Philip shows up on her college doorstep bleeding, she is trusted back into his control and world. Only this time Ella is a woman, and ready for whatever Philip wants. These two’s desire and love is dangerous.

While the underline story of the book is amazing, I was captivated by the power of Philip. Not only did he save his kitten, he destroyed her for any other.

I absolutely loved the first 64% of this, but then the hero forced the heroine to have unprotected sex despite her saying no and trying to get away. That crossed a line for me and turned him from just an alphahole to utter trash, and I struggled to care about the last 1/3 of the book.

“The calmness of his voice anchored me to the present. I wasn’t tied up in a bathroom. Not held down in a swanky hotel suite. I was safe. Well, as safe as I could be with one of the most powerful criminals in the city.”

5 deeply dangerous stars!!

Ella is a damaged and distraught girl, who focuses on partying and her college classes, hoping that it will make her forget her past with Phillip. Phillip is a dangerous and dark man and just when she thinks she’ll never see him again, he shows up outside her dorm room door badly wounded. Phillip is the head of a Chicago crime syndicate and he has people after him. Vowing that she’d only help him, she swore she’d never fall for him again…..but things are never that easy right?

I swear I promised myself I wouldn’t fall for anymore book boyfriends and then Phillip Murphy comes sweeping in and makes me forget that promise!! He’s dark, brooding, sexy and dangerous, everything I’ve ever wanted or needed in a book boyfriend. I read this book in one sitting and almost died when it was over!! I love all of Skye’s books, but I think this one is my favorite!! It takes you on the ride of your life….so buckle up and hold on!

*I received an ARC for my honest review*

Philip - Dark and mysterious. He had the city of Chicago in his pocket, nothing can get to him, or so he thought until one night a girl shows up at his house needing help. Can he do what is right and stay away from her?

Ella - An outcast, not wanted by her mother and felt disconnected to her adoptive parents. All she ever wanted was someone to love her. Could Philip be the person to love her?

The blurb is what had me intrigued, but the first couple of pages had me sucked in. Call me crazy, but I loved Philip! He's Dark, dangerous, and sexy as hell. The type of man you should stay away from. Exactly what I love in a book boyfriend.

Ella was a force to be reckoned with. She may have felt as if she was weak, but I saw her strengths.

This was a good read for me and I really enjoyed it. There was action, suspense and hot, hot passion.

WOW!!! I needed this book in my life
at this time. I have to say that silly
me had no idea that this was BOOK 7
in the series!! LOL I don't feel like I
needed the others to have the level
of "Philip Love" that I had!! He was
perfection.
I love the age difference
betweem the them, because I just love
a mature man. Phillip and Ella are
just one of those couples that belong
together. The mystery surrounding
Phillip added to his charm, and the
way he treated Ella just melted my heart.
And Ella, I am glad that Phillip gave
her the love and confidence that she
had craved. Like I said, he was her
perfect.
I will definitely go back and read all
of the previous books. I am especially
excited to read about Shelly.

Phew what a ride!!
Deep is definitely a journey! It is also the first book I have ever read by Skye Warren, and I was def. not disappointed!

The book is written in first person perspective and told by Ella. It had kind of a ...haunting feel to it. The story telling is very fluent, but also very beautiful in a horrible sort of way at times.
Like I said, it's haunting. The author definitely has a way with words and everything is flowing nicely throughout. The character development is amazing and I love how she gives us so much information, without really giving it. There are a lot of "between the lines" but the fact that I could see that and understand it, shows the author is a talented writer.

I was never bored in this book and our dear Alphahole and Underworld boss, Phillip was at times quite scary. Def. a man you didn't want as an enemy!

The book is stand alone, so I haven't read any of the other books in the series, but I do think it would be a good idea to do so, because I kind of slightly feel like there is history in the shadows that I would know more about had I read the other books.

This was a strong 5* for me, I could not put this book down!

Deep from the Chicago Underground Series was a suspenseful 5+ star read.
Twisted Romance, Ugly cry, Mind F#ck, Dark & Erotic, Hot Alpha

"Not only little,” he said. “Broken too.” I stumbled back as if he’d hit me. That was what it felt like-a wound deeper than those other men could have made. They could only touch my skin. He hurt me where I was already raw and bleeding, where I was all alone.

Skye Warren has done it again with Deep. This is a dark, twisted romance with a very broken man and a young woman who want’s nothing more than to put him back together. Be prepared for one heck of a journey.

This is Ella and Philip’s story told in Ella’s POV.
Ella hasn’t been able to put Philip out of her mind for the past three years. Than one night he shows up at her dorm room injured. Little does she know that her life is about to be shifted upside down. He has been with her the whole time, watching and waiting for the time to finally have her for himself.

"I’m always here. Wherever you go, I follow. Watching you, waiting for you. Wanting you. The only difference is last night--I didn’t leave.”

Ella is taken by gunpoint by Philip in order to escape the police. She soon finds out that her brother Tyler has been kidnapped and a ransom is being requested. Ella makes a deal with the devil (Philip) to get his help. Will Philip let her go after they find her brother? And will she want to?

There were so many great surprising twists and I had a couple of teary eyed moments. The way that Philip treats Ella is at times sweet and others very cruel and heartbreaking. Some of the sex scenes were very intense and cruel, to the point of Ella feeling violated. Philip is a very intense dark man that knows what he wants and will take it no matter what. I feel Ella challenged him in many ways he wasn't used to and really pushed him to his limits at times. I loved it.

"You want the same thing I do,” I whispered, and it was so crystal clear to me now. “A family.”

I have read several books from Skye Warren and I am drawn in every time with her writing. The way that she tells the story makes you feel everything that Ella is feeling right up to the end. Even when you want to hate Philip you can’t help but love this very broken man. We do get to see a HEA and there is no cliffhanger. Although, I would love to see more with these two. I loved the secondary characters as well they added a great element to the story. Thank you once again Skye for another great read. This is definitely going in my top 2016 reads. I look forward to seeing what else may come from the Chicago Underground Series.

"Possessive. Protective. Territorial. Philip Murphy is exactly what I want in an alpha-male!" - Lynda Chance, New York Times bestselling author

A thrilling new standalone novel from New York Times bestselling author Skye Warren...

Dark. Powerful. Dangerous.

Review:

I love dark romances so I was excited to read this book when I was given the opportunity. There is a lot going on in this book. Bad guys that are good, good guys that are bad, people that are suppose to be good that are evil. It is really a storm of lies, lust and power struggles.

The plot is exciting, dark and sexual. There are so many layers to Philip Murphy and it is fascinating reading as Ella/Claire unravels all his dark layers. The chemistry is there from the start. Even as a young rebellious 15 year old Claire feels the attraction to this dark and dangerous man. The pacing of this story is my only problem. There are huge gaps in this story that had me guessing if my kindle skipped ahead on me, (Yes this has happened before.) but it wasn’t my kindle. Skye Warren just continues the story with Three years later. Those missing three years left me with many unanswered questions. The ending left us with things resolved. The character development was good, but again I think we missed too much of Claire/Ella’s time between her abduction and when the story picks up. I will recommend this book to anyone who likes dark romance. It is edgy and has everything that I look for in the darker stories.

WOW! I'm not even sure how to write this review, but I can say this, Deep is the first book I've read by Skye Warren, and I freakin' LOVED it! Claire is an overachieving teenager turned rebellious after she found out a family secret about herself. In the middle of that, she's kidnapped by men her dad owes a lot of money to, and they expect her to pay with her body. A woman named Shelly helps her escape, and she renames herself Ella, as she's changed forever. When Shelly takes her to a friends house where they can be safe, Ella comes face to face with Philip for the first time, and there's an instant connection. For some reason, he has a heart and decides that she's too young, and they part ways. But neither has ever forgotten the other. Years later, when Ella is away at college, Philip finds her again, only he's been seriously injured. When the cops show up, he takes her hostage to his house to keep her safe. The connection that they had never dimmed, but their journey is a rough one as secrets are exposed. With enemies surrounding them, will Ella and Philip ever have their time together?

Again, WOW WOW WOW! I never imagined that I would read what I just read. The character development is fantastic, with all the layers of Philip's tortured soul being gut wrechingly exposed little by little. A raw, gritty, original, and well written story line flows perfectly. Skye Warren's super talented writing style sucked me in from the very beginning, held me hostage, and barely let me go at the end, as I needed so much more. Flammable chemistry simmering in the air, finally leads to EXPLOSIVELY HOT, panty disintegrating sexy scene goodness that in no way, shape or form, should be read in public. The nail biting, dark twists and turns kept my heart racing cover to cover, and yet, my emotions were all in an uproar with these two damaged characters. In conclusion, a fabulous read that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I'm trying to find the words to describe a book that feels like Philip reached out and grabbed me by the throat, pulling me deep into the story!!! I can't even begin to describe the roller coaster ride my emotions took throughout the book from excitement to be reading about Philip once again, to longing for someone to feel that intensely about me (then I changed my mind because Philip is way too intense for me!!) Then the suspense and anticipation was almost unbearable!! I found myself devouring the pages way too fast, so I had to restrain myself and slow down, believe me it was hard!!! You can read this without reading the other books in the Chicago Underground series, but why would you want to deprive yourself from reading one of the best series I have ever read?!! So go get Rough (it's free) then read Hard, Fierce, Wild, Dirty, Secret, and Sweet. I have a favorite quote where Philip describes why he chose Ella. "Because I realized no matter where I went, no matter what I did, no one would ever see me like you did. No one would ever see that deep inside of me- and still want to stay." How awesome is that?!!! Don't you want someone to love you, warts and all?!! Yeah, me too!! So hell yeah I recommend this book, in fact I recommend the whole series!!! You are really missing out if you don't read this book!!! I'm just sorry I'm done...

Another amazing book by Skye Warren! I believe this book has just become my favorite in this series. Ella's full story was heart breaking. Finding out the truth about her own past, she rebels. Then she is taken to pay a debt she had nothing to do with. Ella fights to keep her innocence and Shelly comes to her side. This is when she first meet a Philip.
A few years have past and Ella is now in college. She is doing good for herself, until a noise has her opening her door to her past. My heart stopped at this point. A vulnerable person has literally fallen through her door when she opens it. I never thought he could be hurt. In all the books I honestly never liked Philip. He is the darkness he says he is. I didn't think he had a softer side. Other than caring for Collins and Rose, I thought he only cared for himself. Parts of Philips past were revealed in previous books, but nothing like in this. The reasonings behind his need to protect, to be possessive, and to control are over whelming. Not many books live up to their title, but this lives up to it in every way. It truly is Deep.
