This is my second Skye Warren book and it’s definitely not my last. I was hooked from the first page until the last. And even then I wanted more! I loved every second of this intense roller coaster and would love to take the ride again. Philip is dark, dangerous, and so sinfully sexy. Ella is the beautifully broken girl, that tugs at your heart. You feel every emotion that she does as we follow her through her journey.
Philip Murphy is dark, dangerous and sexy. Ella shouldn’t want him, she shouldn’t fall for him, because he’s not the man for her. The first time she met him, she was young, broken, and looking for something. A connection? Love? Family? Something that Philip can never give her. They both know it, but that’s not how fate sees it. The connection between the two is unmistakable. It’s undeniable, bu nothing can happen, yet.
Ella moves on, attends University, but there is only one man that will hold her heart, mind, and body. The one man that she can never be with. But when he shows up at her door, bleeding, there is only one thing she can do. Help him.
This book had me on a rollercoaster of emotion, suspense, and had my Kindle melting with the scorching sex. Philip and Ella have a volatile, dangerous, sexy connection. Is the connection between them strong enough to withstand everything that gets thrown at them? This is a MUST READ in all sense of the word.

There were two sides to every person: the one we showed the world and the one we hid.
Dark. Powerful. Dangerous.
Philip Murphy has all of Chicago under his thumb. Except me.
We met in a perfect storm of violence and lust. He saved me and then disappeared from my life. Now I pretend I never knew that kind of darkness. I focus on midterms and campus parties, as if they can wipe the slate clean.
Then he turns up outside my dorm room—wounded and barely conscious. He’s the head of a crime syndicate, a powerful man, but he needs me now. There are traitors in his midst.
I can help him, but I can’t fall for him.

I love dark romances so I was excited to read this book when I was given the opportunity. There is a lot going on in this book. Bad guys that are good, good guys that are bad, people that are suppose to be good that are evil. It is really a storm of lies, lust and power struggles.
The plot is exciting, dark and sexual. There are so many layers to Philip Murphy and it is fascinating reading as Ella/Claire unravels all his dark layers. The chemistry is there from the start. Even as a young rebellious 15 year old Claire feels the attraction to this dark and dangerous man. The pacing of this story is my only problem. There are huge gaps in this story that had me guessing if my kindle skipped ahead on me, (Yes this has happened before.) but it wasn’t my kindle. Skye Warren just continues the story with Three years later. Those missing three years left me with many unanswered questions. The ending left us with things resolved. The character development was good, but again I think we missed too much of Claire/Ella’s time between her abduction and when the story picks up. I will recommend this book to anyone who likes dark romance. It is edgy and has everything that I look for in the darker stories.
