The wedding was supposed to be my sister’s fate. An alliance between two legendary mafia families just like in the old days. But when my sweet, beautiful older sister fell for a civilian and eloped in spite of our father’s edict, mafia mayhem ensued. Now, to save my sister and her clueless new husband from a date with a Cosa Nostra executioner, I’m taking her place. No doubt everyone would have preferred the alternative bride. Especially the groom. Luca Connelly. Master manipulator. Crown prince of his uncle’s blood-splattered empire. And my nemesis since high school. Luca, with his charm and muscle and sinful looks, believes the world is his for the taking. He might be right. Luca is good at fooling everyone else. However, he’ll never fool me. He’s still the same callous, arrogant villain who used to delight in my torment. Not that I’m innocent. The scorching hostility between us is completely mutual. Too bad there are a few things I didn’t count on. Like the way I can’t get enough of his touch. Or how I keep coming back for more no matter how volatile we are together. I know this is no recipe for a happy marriage. But the closer I get to Luca, the more the lines get blurred. My mistake was to assume that I was in full control. I was so sure my heart was immune to falling for my husband. Only now that it’s too late am I learning how very wrong I was…
🔥Enemies to Lovers 🔥He’s Secretly Obsessed 🔥Arranged Mafia Marriage 🔥Hilarious hostile banter 🔥Snowbound for the Holidays 🔥Spicy ‘lessons’ 🔥Tons of ‘My Wife’ 🔥Total Opposites
I'm a huge fan of insta-love , grunge era flannel, my vintage Kenmore sewing machine, embroidered dishcloths and absolutely everything that has to do with 1980s pop culture (i.e. leg warmers, scrunchies, big hair, early Madonna, boom boxes, wood paneled walls, stonewash jeans, etc).
If you believe in Happily Ever After and improbable love stories, chances are I'll love you too!!
Tropes: Marriage of convenience, mafia, meant to marry my sister but instead got me (didn’t realize this was a trope but I’ve read a few now)
Anni and Luca come from two different mafia families - when their families decide they want to cement an alliance through marriage, their first choice is Anni’s older sister. But her sister runs off and marries someone else, so in order to save the situation (and her sister), Anni takes her place. Anni and Luca have known each other since childhood - and have had a heated prank rivalry and dislike of each other since. Luca also has reasons for having to marry Anni and is willing to do whatever it takes to uphold his deal and protect his loved ones. So a marriage of inconvenience starts for the right/wrong reasons.
I feel like the pacing and chemistry was off for me - like I was over the storyline about 60% in. I feel like the back and forth of their relationship just became too repetitive.
"Married With Malice" is the story of Annalisa and Luca.
It’s as if no time has passed since I was a teenage boy secretly watching her from the stands and nursing a serious crush. That boy would be astounded to know the forbidden girl he was obsessed with would someday be his wife. And what’s more, he would love her so fiercely that one look at her was enough to make his throat tighten.
Marriage of convenience x enemies to lovers, this time involving a mafia family and a couple who has always been on adds. Adding a hero who has always secretly pined for the heroine, loads of hot sex, family drama, adorable siblings, angst and a beautiful ending.
Kept me hooked until the very end and really enjoyed it.
Jesus, this trope...even though I am a total sucker for it...when you read the same ol' same ol' without the "fresh" approach at least in the style of writing then you get bored real quick... And there nothing worse than to say that the book is boring...cause everything is familiar to you, and you have a lousy feeling you have read the similar thing for at least a hundred times before...*sigh* And the worst part of it all is, that you don't really remember the book after a while...
I fell in love with Luca and Annalisa’s story. It is an enemies-to-lovers, mafia, arranged marriage storyline. This book more than tugged at my heart strings. It definitely had me on the edge of my seat at times. The best parts though… fogged up my glasses. Fanning myself.
Annalisa is strong willed and considering the world she comes from, color me impressed. She most certainly was surrounded by misogyny and inequality her entire life. As someone who is the middle of three girls, I loved her middle sister feistiness. Hug. OMG she mad me laugh so hard in the beginning. I want to see a picture of her wedding dress. Enough said. You will have to read the book to know what I am talking about. Wink.
Luca, Luca, Luca… I wasn’t sure about you in the beginning. You sounded like a jerk. HOLY CRUMB, I wound up changing my mind in a big way once all the reveals started happening. Learning the backstory on your reason for some of your shenanigans had me wanting to hug you.
The mafia part of this book was CRAY, CRAY. OMG the best part of this book was catching up with Gentry. Some of my all t8me favorite books include characters from that family. Eek.
So yeah… LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK. HAPPY READING EVERYONE! XOXO
These two are adorable!! When I read book one - Married With Lies - I put out at the end that I would love Luca's story... And it didn't disappoint!
Anni has stepped in - not that she had much choice - to keep the alliance between two mafia families and is to marry Luca. Luca who she can't stand and has several face offs with him ending in either pranks or hurt.
Fast forward to the attraction, the misunderstandings, wanting to save someone from being made into a soulless shell of a man and connections. We get it all as well as some laughs thrown in.
I'm so excited for clumsy Sabrina's story which is next!!!
*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review
I devoured this book and loved every single minute I spent with Luca and Anni. Their story was emotional, heart warming, full of hilarious witty banter and spicy chemistry.
Right from the beginning the connection between them was intense, full on and passionate. An arranged marriage with plenty of drama, Luca and Anni go through a lot to get their HEA but they are perfect for each other even when they hate to admit it.
Loved them and loved their journey, another addictive and exhilarating read from start to finish. I can't wait for the next book.
There were some brilliant moments from some loveable familar Cora characters that brought a huge smile to my face. Perfect!
Parts of this book were really good and parts were just a bit much. I felt like this book could’ve been a lot shorter than what it was. I did like the bond Luca and Annalisa formed and how both stepped up to protect their siblings. I am curious how the rest of the series will go though so it’s not my last book by this author.
I’ve been in a severe reading slump. But I think I’ve been cured. This book captured everything I love about dark romance. The passion, the darkness, the steaminess. If you are looking for a HEA. This is your book. Luca and Annalisa are so stinking cute! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review: (2⭐️, 1🌶️) (DNF 77%) Kinda got boring, skipped basically most of it because I thought there would be more. Booktok really brought me in with her being in an avalanche or something..
This book is more like a mafia book than Sabrina's story. Anni and Luca are like cats and dogs and Anni doesn't want to marry Luca but does to protect her sisters. However, while on their honeymoon, they discover that they definitely have sexual chemistry. Anni doesn't want to admit it but her body doesn't lie. After they go back home, things begin to change. Anni notices a change in Luca due to the demands of the family and she misses how he used to be. After the Christmas fiasco, they are sent on another honeymoon to work things out. Being away from everything does wonders for their relationship. Their future looks bright until her father loses his mind and everything is upended. I liked the way the book ended and I'm looking forward to reading more.
When Annalisa’s sister decides to defy the family and to marry who she wants, Annalisa must step in to wed mafia man Luca Connelly. He isn’t thrilled with the change of brides either but the families must be combined for peace. Annalisa has much comic relief in her thoughts and behavior towards an arrangement she does not want. This is an enemies to lovers romance with some feisty banter. It feels more grey than dark romance but still a good read and the characters/story flows. Plenty of action towards the end. Told in first person and dual POV.
Luca and Anni's story was a good read. The first half both characters drove me crazy with how immature they both were. I'm glad I stuck with it to the end since they made a miraculous turn around. I would recommend this read since the last half brings in great characters as well.
This is my first book by Cora Brent (though I could be wrong).
I hardly read books in the Mafia trope bite the book Descartes intriguing.
It was an okay story and well written, however it dragged on far too long. it was hard to stop myself and skipping parts to reach the end. The ending, especially the epilogue was very sweet.
I was an absolute mess at the end of Married with Lies after Luca joined the family business that I was almost afraid to read Married with Malice but this book was amazing.
Luca and Anni are perfection. I loved Anni’s strength and how she took nothing from anyone. Luca was not was I was expecting but I was so pleasantly surprised by him.
I love this series so much and I’m not so patiently waiting for the next one!
The FL was immature and whiny. I dNFed it 60% of the way in because I couldn't stand how she victimized herself. I felt like she should apologize to the ML for the way she was acting.
