Writing as I'm 25% into Volume 3 -- absolutely loving this series!
The messiness of the situations, the emotions on page, and the excellent writing all combine for a story I haven't been able to put down for days.
This book in particular was loaded with "wow, that was a really good way to describe that feeling" moments.
I feel like the writing (and translation into English) in this is actively *great*, and really serves to elevate the story beyond what I was expecting.
Highly recommend if you're here for insights into messy, but relatable, characters trying to navigate some... pretty interesting situations.
It feels real, it feels painful, and it's very well written. I'll be honest, I didn't like the story. Cycle of abuse themes throughout on literally every side.
