To Live and Die in the Chi

Rate this book
On the streets of Chicago, where power is measured in blood and money, Rico Brown reigns over a thriving criminal empire. But the streets are never safe, and Rico’s brash, arrogant style attracts more enemies than friends.

Rico’s young wife, Charlene, was just eighteen when the charismatic hustler swept her into his world. Nearly two decades later, she’s a mother of three and trapped in a loveless marriage defiled by Rico’s constant betrayal. Charlene’s hopes and dreams faded as the years passed, replaced by a burning what if she had never met Rico?

Enter Roman, a loyal soldier assigned by Rico to protect his wife and children while he’s away. The spark between Charlene and Roman ignites a dangerous affair, awakening desires Charlene never imagined. Their passion deepens along with their feelings, and soon, they must face the realization that love―their love―can literally kill.

Geno, a relentless undercover cop, poses yet another threat. Driven by a thirst for revenge against Rico that has simmered since childhood, Geno infiltrates Rico’s operation by posing as a lucrative new client. When his surveillance reveals the invisible cracks in the kingdom, the stakes become higher than ever.

With betrayal approaching from every direction, the question isn’t just who will survive—but who will be left standing when the dust settles in the Windy City. Will Rico’s empire crumble? Will Roman and Charlene’s illicit love be exposed? In this deadly game, nothing is certain except karma and chaos.

The book was good.. a bit rush on certain scenes. I feel we could have gotten more background information on certain characters like how Patricia and Rico started messing around. At least a mini flashback of how Rico and Charlene met. Definitely could have at least 100 more pages.

RN: Charlene was being too reckless with Roman.. she wasn’t being careful.. because how you let your daughter follow you to this man house. SMH!

Rico just a damn dog.. pissed me off the entire book. All these women he has been with, definitely could give his wife something.. and while you out with your side chick your wife going to jail taking the fall for you..

Roman should have never given her his address! Hotel or we can’t see each other. Because this is a place that no one should know about.. that run in with Mouse could have had a different ending.
