I guess Victor Hugo was never going to win the Nobel Prize for literature.
I just read a review of a Kettle on Amazon that said it worked really well.
I was disappointed there was no boiler alert
There is a new prize for the best literary novel about ovens
It’s called the Cooker Prize
I was thinking of marking Hamlet “Want to Read”
TBR or not TBR that is the question
The Literary Review has set up an award for the worst writing about Jazz
The first award went to Murakami
Its called the Bad Sax Prize
I have just joined a site to review Basket Weaving
It’s called Good Reeds
Why did the factory farmed chicken cross the road
I can't tell you - it would be a broiler
Tesla have set up a prize for the best novel about electric vehicles
That's another prize for Anna Burns then
This years Republic of Consciousness Prize for small presses was controversially won by an artisan olive oil producer.

A Daily Dose of Dad Jokes: 365 Truly Terrible Wisecracks by Taylor Calmus and Peter L. Harmon (Rockridge Press 2019) (~817) (3550).
This book was a Father’s Day gift from my youngest son. It has some really good one-liners and other short jokes. I think this gift is intended as a not-so-subtle hint that I need to incorporate some new material into my arsenal.
This is a quick read. Here are a couple of examples of this book’s offerings:
"Why are there no knock-knock jokes about democracy?
Because freedom rings."
"The Surgeon General says that listening to the band ‘Queen’ is bad for your health.
It’s probably the high Mercury content.”
Pretty good, huh?

Loved this book! Got it for Christmas in 2020 and shared a joke a day with my teens whether they liked them or not. It was a full of some jokes I knew and lots that I didn't.

I've read a handful of books containing terrible dad jokes... this one seems to be about average compared to the others I've read (to be fair, this one has several of the same jokes that I've seen elsewhere). There are a few gems in this book that I had not seen before, but those were few and far between. This one has more jokes that other dad joke books I've read. In my humble opinion, this book is not bad... but not the best.

I got this for my dad's birthday this year because he sends me a daily text with a dad joke in it. My husband, kids, and I love watching Dude Dad on YouTube and thought this book had to be funny based on the videos he makes. My dad loves it!

December 31, 2025Won this book. They are funny jokes but I wouldn’t buy it myself. Maybe to give as a gift. They’re definitely by definition what you call dad jokes these days.

Disclaimer: This book got to my home and I gave it to my husband. I have been on the receiving end of this book for about two- three weeks now and this is my review based on that time.
Upon getting this book in the mail, I was very excited. I really enjoy bad jokes.. all jokes really and this seemed like a lot of fun. I flipped through it once and it was filled with a joke for each day of the year with some illustration to mark a new month and then just the date and a joke on the pages, normally 1-2 per page.
The jokes have been hilarious and I think that all dads and non-dads... love of dad jokes should have this book. The book now resides at my husbands office where he happily shares it with his team... I feel for them... but I think it is for the better (aka my sanity).
If you are into jokes and love a good (bad) dad joke, this is a great book of daily ones that you can share every day... and by the time you get back to January you can probably tell them again and get new laughs.

Jokes are just OK. Only a few were worth repeating. Many I had heard or read previously, so not original. Some jokes are very old, and some are so dated I would not think a young person would even get the joke as the references are not current.
