My friend Danielle has published her first book! As a teacher she has been active in creating critical thinkers by designing her own content. Throughout the years I have seen her design escape rooms and digital games. Yesterday she gave the world this book which offers readers advice on how to solve riddles before offering almost 200 riddles, including some that have historical and literary fame, and even some matchstick puzzles!

Ps. I’ll admit to being biased, but I have to add that the book has the best dedication ever. But you are going to have to buy it (and be a fellow geek), if you want to appreciate it.

The Challenging Riddle Book for Kids by Danielle Hall is perfect for those looking to add some fun to their everyday routine. Teachers and parents will love these "brain-busters" as much as the kids! I'm headed into my 22nd year teaching HS English, Spanish, & ESL; even though it states the book is best fit for kids ages 9-12, my high school students (ages 14-17) will also love these. There's really something here for everyone!

In addition to its colorful pages and recurring characters, this book is filled with nearly 200 riddles, puzzles, brain teasers, and challenges of various types and levels of difficulty, including an answer key. Whether kids do one puzzle a day by themselves or a bunch in one sitting with friends, their critical thinking, problem-solving, math, and reading skills are sure to improve. The more they do, the better they'll get, and they won't even realize all the learning taking place because they'll be having so much fun!

The decision to begin the book with a short "how-to" guide is probably my favorite part of the overall design. Danielle Hall didn't just throw a bunch of riddles and brain teasers into a book and call it good. She really took the time to explain "the how" and "the why" behind them. She provides tips and strategies for solving, as well as examples and hints in the form of warm-ups, so readers know what to expect before diving in. Giving this information beforehand, will help kids be more successful as they make their way through the book. In my opinion, this introductory material is what makes this book better than others of the same genre.

Without hesitation, I give 5 out of 5 stars to The Challenging Riddle Book for Kids by Danielle Hall. It is the perfect choice for any home or classroom library. It fits nicely in a backpack, on your nightstand, and even your coffee table! I highly recommend this book to parents, teachers, tweens, and teens, as well as to families and those looking to improve their critical thinking skills. The material is engaging and creatively presented, the recurring characters are diverse, and the scenarios are fun and relatable. The variety of puzzles and varying levels of difficulty make this a book everyone can and will enjoy. As Danielle Hall says, "Happy puzzling!"

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

I love putting riddle books into my kid’s hands. They are great ways to create critical thinking, solving problems, and just good old fashion fun. The book says for 9-12 year olds. Some of the riddles are challenging. I think older kids and adults will enjoy this too.

The pages are colorful with some illustrations throughout the pages. A good variety of riddles some historical and some are mind puzzles too. If you get stumped on a riddle the answers are in the back of the book.

A fun book for kids.

The riddles in this book are often quite challenging. I think that even adults will find that they cannot solve them all. Geared toward children 9 to 12, this book contains many excellent puzzles to work out Luckily, there is an answer key at the end, in case either adult or child is stumped.

Many thanks to Callisto, the publisher, and NetGalley for this fun book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for an ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is a wonderful way to challenge student thinking in a fun and non-thrratening way. This book promotes growth mindset and thinking outside the box. As a teacher, I've noticed how hesitant students are when trying to answer a problem or question they don't know; however, riddles tend to break this trend and allow for students to try and enjoy problem solving. I'm excited to use this book in my class this year.

This is such a great riddle book for ALL ages. And it's so much more than just riddles. I love the "Did you know?" sections that provide so many interesting facts with the puzzles. It's also so nice to see a diverse representation of characters in both the riddles and artwork. Such a beautiful, beautiful book!

A mix of puzzles: riddles, puns, math challenges, word puzzles. Some are groaners, some are fairly obvious, and others will back you up for a bit.
I enjoyed it.

My 9 yr old loved this book. He enjoyed stumping the rest of his family with the riddles. Some were way over his head so he liked to make his 13 yr old sister try and solve the harder ones.

I was provided with an electronic ARC through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
