Blessing’s Baron

Rate this book
He doesn’t wed them—he beds them.
Except for her. Or so he hopes.

Lady Blessing Broadmere has no intention of becoming any man’s wife, especially not to fund her brother’s ambitions. As the new Duke of Broadmere, her odious sibling is determined to marry her off and access her portion of the family fortune. But Blessing would rather spend her nights with telescopes and starlight than ballrooms and bachelors. Astronomy is her passion. Marriage? Not in this lifetime.

Lord Thorne Knightwood has made his reputation on charm, scandal, and an ironclad vow to never marry. His appetite for seduction is infamous, but his fear of becoming like his father runs deeper still. Then he meets the one woman in London who won’t fall at his feet, or even look his way.

Lady Blessing is brilliant, beautiful… and uninterested. Naturally, he’s obsessed.

But just as Thorne begins to win her trust, and maybe even her heart, a specter from his past threatens everything. If he can’t protect her from the truth, he may lose her before she’s ever his.

One brother, Seven Sisters.
A will, that says this new Duke could not get all his inheritance until his sisters were all married and only if they married the man they loved.
I enjoyed this first book, and look forward to reading the next. Nice characters and plenty of humour between them, and a story to keep my interest.

The eight Abarough siblings are in mourning, their mother died from consumption & now only six months later their father has passed too. At the reading of the will Chance the newest Duke of Broadmere & his So Chance is determined to marry them off as quickly as possible so he can access the entirety of the family’s coffers. Lady Blessing has no interest in marrying. Up until Papa died, she did as she pleased, pursuing her interest in astronomy. Lord Thorne Knightwood is a confirmed rake who swore off marriage long ago as a guarantee of never becoming like his abusive father. Then he comes upon the incomparable Lady Blessing, who she ignores him, tells him to go away. No woman ever tells him to go away.
The first in a new series & we start to get to know this large close family. I loved the dynamics between the siblings, they loved each other but each was an individual & had their own interests & poor Chance has about as much hope of being in charge as he would have corralling cats. I loved both Thorne & Essie, the attraction was there from their first meeting & whilst Essie fought her feelings, Thorne fell hard & fast. Events are progressing well until Thorne's past comes to haunt them & things take a decidedly turn for the worst. A well written, fun & enjoyable romance & I look forward to the rest of the series

This family of eight will keep you laughing. Seven opinionated Broadmere sisters is enough to drive any brother crazy. All he wants is all seven married to get his hands on the estate coffers. But the stipulation in their parents will is for the girls to marry only for love. Lady Blessing Broadmere is a most unusual lady. Challenged at every turn, Lord Thorne Knightwood is fascinated by the lady. He's not interested in marriage, at least he doesn't think so. Essie won't be easy to win, especially with his less than sterling reputation, but Thorne is determined to win the lady even at the threat of his own life.
Recommend reading this very entertaining first book in a new series. I don't think you'll be bored. Mild descriptive sex.

What a great start to a brand new series by one of my favourite authors! It's always a treat to read one of Maeve Greyson's books and I'm really looking forward to reading each sisters' story. Imagine, seven sisters in one household and each is expected to marry for love! I almost felt some sympathy for their brother, Chance! lol

This first book is Blessing's story and oh, how I adored her character! She sure doesn't let Lord Thorne Knightwood walk all over her and let's him know that his reputation as a rake makes him non marriage material!! Now it's up to Thorne to prove that he intends to mend his ways but she's not easy to persuade and of course his past comes up to bite him in the butt!

A fun read which kept my interest from start to finish.

Blessing’s Baron by Maeve Grayson is an extremely entertaining book about a woman who has no interest in marrying. She is on of six sisters, the younger siblings of the new duke. Her father’s will plainly stated that all six of the “flock” needed to marry for love before he could come into his entire inheritance. There was no mention of his approval, only that they marry for love. Blessing is the second daughter and has no intention of marrying, probably ever, and she is not willing to put up with his dictatorial ways. She is willing to go to the opening ball of the season with her sisters, just to keep him from nagging. There she dances one dance, with Lord Thorne Knightwood, a renowned rake. She likes him but doesn’t care for his reputation. He falls immediately in love. It turns out the reason he doesn’t want to marry is that his father, and his grandfather before that, were notorious rakes, even after they married, not hesitating to parade their paramours in front of their wives, while emotionally abusing them in public and at home. If it was genetic, he wanted no part of it.

Thorne was a very nice man, and very persistent. He sent Blessing (Essie) and flowers and gifts. She finally allowed him to sit with her at a musicale. Essie was a studious person who had an interest in the stars. Her father had installed an observatory for her in their home. She was stubborn, but not unreasonable. Watching the two interact was beyond amusing. The back and forth in notes was hilarious. Watching him when he decided he loved her was even better. She was going to protect herself from being hurt, even from him. He had a past, no doubt about it, and he would have to face it. Would she wait for him? Remains to be seen. What an entertaining book! Thanks Maeve Greyson.

We have a new historical romance series starting with this one. A family of siblings who recently lost their father. They must adhere to the terms of the Last Will to inherit fully. Luckily, they are a loving and protective bunch. Even if they are unusually well educated and independent. I do feel a bit sorry for the new Duke as he tries to handle his sisters.

Our heroine studies astrology from her own observatory.

Our hero is a Rake whose past is about to come back and bite him, hard.

A lovely, humour filled story with lots of great characters.  There is also some danger and emotional turmoil.

I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Great fun.

A great start to a new series, with seven sisters and one brother to find their other half. Rake Thorne Knightwood falls heavily for the outspoken Lady Blessing but his past catches up with him, in more ways than one, to create obstacles for a HEA. Enjoyed the characters, some laugh out loud moments and story had a good flow. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Oh, sign me up for the bookworm sister’s sequel immediately.
A little instalovey from the male mc (why was he outside her window so much in the beginning?) and some severe melodrama from both leads, but hey, I finished it in one go. I obviously enjoyed it. Passed my dialogue check as well.
I really love a quirky sibling historical romance series, and I see potential here. 3.5 stars.

Glacially slow

This book has a promising premise, but it's overly long, and moves at a snail's pace. I found myself just skimming. Perhaps subsequent books will improve.

Blessings Baron: A Regency Historical Romance (Seven Unsuitable Sisters Book 1) Maeve Greyson

This is a charming story about 1 brother, the Duke and seven unmarried sister. Oh what fun, the catch is before he can inherit all of his financial funds his sisters must all marry for love. The family has been raised to be able to think and act for themselves, as well as be independent thinking and have developed as individuals. The characters are so humorous with banter like siblings and caring as families. As noted free thinking women was not the normal for the Regency time. I am anxiously awaiting for the rest of this series. Most definitely a five star read!

SPORTOCHICK’S MUSINGS: A light hearted and entertaining read with a sprinkle of humor to make you smile.

The opening to this book made me laugh and feel sympathy for Chance the new Duke of Broadmere who has to marry all six of his sisters before getting his inheritance. One can’t feel much sympathy for him because all he did was party and not take on any serious responsibilities until both parents were deceased. But I will admit to some glee over how he will be forced to be responsible.

I loved the variety of personalities in the six sisters. All complex, different, and very before their time in their thinking. Their parents would be the type of parents I would have wished for in that era. The portrayal of their closeness reminds me of my childhood and my five siblings. While the author's portrayal of the siblings' closeness and differences is handled in a believable manner there are times when I thought it was a little too perfect between the six sisters. But I do feel sorry for Chance and his mission to wed six sisters against their will. If he survives this then I am sure he can survive anything.

Lord Thorne Knightwood wants Lady Blessing but his indiscretions are a problem for her. She wants true love and trust is a big part of that. For someone who only likes married woman I found it amusing and sad that his past is keeping him from his happily ever after. The reader will have a deep understanding and compassion of both of their positions and insecurities about each other.

Throughout the book I found it lighthearted and fun with areas where I laughed out loud at the sisters' antics. I recommend this book for anyone who wants a light hearted and delightful read with a sprinkle of humor to make you laugh.

I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Hey guess what! I am so excited! Maeve Greyson has a new series and I just finished reading the first of the series. It is called Blessing's Baron. Thorne Knightwood is a rake but one with a good heart. He loves his elderly mother, was the child of an abusive father who was also demeaning and cruel to his wife, and thankfully has gone to his just rewards. Thorne is the Baron now, he rescued his inheritance from his deceased father's mismanagement and he and his mother live a comfortable life. One which involves him getting involved with married women and no marriageable wife-types. But in come the 7 beautiful sisters of a Duke, who must marry men whom they love before the Duke can receive his full inheritance. The sauciest one with a mouth and temper to match is somehow very attractive to this baron. He doesn't know why he is so attracted to her but recognizes he can not ruin her, but needs to get to know, almost with an obsession to do so. The problem is that "Lady Blessing" has no interest in marrying. So he decides he is just going to keep pursuing her and see where it leads. Society matrons are his mother's friends and his mother warns her son to be honest with the Duke's family, they ae innocent and upstanding people. He promises his mother to behave but this Duke's sister is all he can think about. Lady Blessing is rather attracted to him also. Its an adorable beginning romance that grows to love and intrigue with many trust issues. Along the way we meet the Barons mother, and best friend as well as Lady Blessing's Family. The book has a madman villain and a society mistress who are despicable. There is a lot of action and sexual tension to keep an inquiring mind busy...I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I think you will like this first one for sure!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this advanced copy from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dragonblade is one of my favorite publishers and they have no shortage of historical romances for me to read. I chose this from the catalog because I was drawn in the cover, title, and series name: Seven Unsuitable Sisters. All the daughters had cool names like Blessing, Serendipity, and my favorite: Fortuity. These women all had different personalities and varied interests. I loved how unique they were and their strong familial connection. Blessing was fond of astronomy and even had her own tower to view the stars. We love a woman whose hobbies extend past the traditional. As much as I liked her big family, they were incredibly meddlesome and tainted some of my enjoyment of the novel.

Blessing and Thorne were my favorite parts of the book. They had me giggling and kicking my feet over how cute they were written. They had great chemistry and Thorne genuinely wanted to know her better. He was very sweet and courted her in the most gentlemanly manner. I wish they had more pages dedicated to just them, but their families kept getting in the way. I was getting nervous near the 90% mark if they would ever consummate their marriage. It's a pathetic qualm, but I was concerned. You can't market it as a romance with only some kissing. Nah, I'm just being greedy.

Blessing's Baron was a nice introduction to the series, even if I wasn't feeling the one big happy family at times. I'm definitely looking forward to Fortuity’s book with baited breath. I'm not sure I'll make it through all Seven Unsuitable Sisters, but I'll definitely make my best effort. Blessing's Baron was tender as a cloud and I hope I can find my own blessings headed my way.

This is the first book in the series Seven Unsuitable Sisters and is a charming start to the series, blending humor, intrigue, and undeniable chemistry between its leads. From the moment Lady Blessing plots her mischievous revenge against her greedy brother, it's clear she’s not your typical society miss. Her passion for astronomy, stubborn independence, and sharp wit make her a refreshing heroine.

Lord Thorne Knightwood is a notorious rake with a well-earned reputation. Thorne’s initial attraction to Blessing is purely based on her unwillingness to fawn over him, but as their paths continue to cross, his fascination deepens. Their interactions are filled with banter, tension, and undeniable sparks, making their slow-burn romance all the more satisfying.

Blessing isn’t interested in marriage, but Thorne, despite his reservations, finds himself wanting more. Their push-and-pull dynamic is entertaining, especially as Blessing struggles against her own growing attraction. His love for cats is an amusing and endearing detail that softens his rakish exterior, making him more than just another charming rogue.

Just when their relationship begins to take a promising turn, Thorne’s past resurfaces, introducing danger and unexpected stakes.

With clever dialogue, a headstrong heroine, and a rogue learning the meaning of true love, this first installment is a delightful read, and I look forward to continuing the series.

I enjoyed every minute of this novel and found it a good mix of romance, wit, and suspense. Thorne Knightwood has observed the pattern set by his grandfather and father as selfish, cruel husbands and assumes he is made from the same stock. His mother and best friend disagree with him, but he nevertheless vows never to marry until he meets the feisty and witty Lady Blessing. Without fail, everyone warns Blessing of Thorne's reputation and she takes heed of their advice, giving Thorne short shift when he tries to approach her. I could not help but laugh out loud at the letters Thorne wrote Blessing as he is unbelievably flowery, whereas Blessing is pragmatic and sees right through his verbiage. Without intentionally playing hard to get, Blessing nevertheless keeps Thorne on a string, forcing him to rethink his future and take the necessary steps to prevent a recurrence of his past behavior. Unfortunately, his past won't leave him alone, bringing danger to both his and Blessing's doorstep. It is only when Blessing recognizes what she is about to lose that she finally gives up her stance on marriage and the novel comes to a sweet conclusion with a promise of more to come. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Lord Thorne Knightwood is determined not to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and father who treated their spouses terribly by humiliating them in front of the ton, parading their mistresses in front of their wives at various social events. He is determined to remain foot loose and fancy free, until that is he dances at the first ball of the season with the beautiful Blessing.

Blessing is the daughter of the late Duke of Broadmere and the sister of the new Duke of Broadmere, Chance. Essie would rather gaze up at the stars with the special telescope and observatory her beloved father built for her in their home. Thorne does not understand why he wants to be around Essie as she is not his usual type of conquest, i.e. either widows or women willing to stray from their husbands. He decides to continue to see her until he figures it all out or in this case, realises he has fallen in love with her. This was a sweet read and another lovely story from Maeve Grayson, the start of a good series with six more sisters to see wed before Chance can access his full inheritance. Each of the sisters must marry for love and not be forced to marry before they get what they want.

Lord Knightwood “Beds then not Wed them” is his slogan or was until he meets Blessing.
The Dukes sisters all need to wed before he is fully unrestrained. He is bound and determined to get them all safely and “mostly” happily wed. Only his sisters don’t see it that way. It will be an uphill battle with all 7 sisters. Blessing is not beneath doing what she needs to do in order to get what she wants or as the case maybe not want.
OOOHHHH MMMYYY. This totally the reality in large families. If you’re not from a large family you may not understand but Greyson has nailed it to a T. I wonder if she is from a large family? Anyway what a captivating book with last of grins and giggles. But also action and of course love.

Blessing's Baron is the first in a new series, Seven Unsuitable Sisters.

One brother, seven sisters and a will that states, he cannot get his inheritance until all the sisters marry. But is has a stipulation that they must all be love matches. Chance has his work cut out for him since all of his sisters are strong willed women.

This was an entertaining story. Blessing, who goes by 'Essie' has determined she will never marry. She does not want to conform to what the ton expects of her. She loves her observatory and wants to spend all her time looking at the stars. But she finds an instant attraction for a totally unsuitable baron who has also cried off marriage. Will he be able to improve his reputation enough for her to accept him as her loving husband.

I am looking forward to the next installment in the series.

Thorne is a rake yet he vows not to be one after marriage like his forefathers. Because he can't guarantee this, he is determined not to marry until he meets Blessing. Blessing is required to marry for love but has no interest in doing so. As the two interact, the blend of a pragmatic girl and a persistent man lead to an entertaining story filled with joyous moments. There is also intrigue and romance in this quickly moving story of two souls who are meant to be together. A beautifully written story and one not to to miss.

Seven Sisters

Chance has a problem. His parents' will states that all his sisters have to marry for love before he can inherit the bulk of the family coffers even if he is now a Duke. Getting these ladies married isn't going to be easy but he starts with Blessing who wants to study the stars through her telescope - well until she meets the Baron. I giggled my way through this book until it got to the part about the minister who loves brandy. I laughed out loud and long! I can't wait for the next sister

This is story about a large family that all the sisters must marry for love, or else their brother, the Duke, will not receive his inheritance.
I liked the closeness of the sisters. Essie was a strong character who knew what she wanted in life. Thorne was a bit too insta - love, for my taste. I love Thorne's mother more than him, however. And there's a lot of notable pets.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

An engaging and well written series starter that I really enjoyed 🙂

*he falls first and hard
*close family relationships (FMC with her siblings, and MMC with his mother)
*he earns her love

This was my first time reading the author; and I’ll definitely be reading more of this series and her other work.

Recommended.

another great series starter

Loved the story of Thorne and Blessing! Maeve has a way of writing that draws you right in to the story. The characters come alive and you cannot put the book down! She has truly found her gift in writing and her stories keep getting better! This story has laughter, romance and a bit of steam. Looking to the rest of the series!! You will not be disappointed.

Blessing and the Rogue

Thorne never planned to fall in love. Now, he must convince his lady that he was reformed. Blessing could not help but fall in love with her rogue, but could she trust him? How could love thrive without trust? Then, Thorne's past came calling, and his life was in peril. Would he survive his past to find happiness? I enjoyed this Regency romance and would recommend it to those who like stories, where the women are feisty, and the men are persistent.

Great Regency romance!

Blessing’s Baron is a wonderful combination of historical fiction, mystery, intrigue and romance. The story does include kissing and slightly steamy romance. But, for the most the romance is slow burn. I love the characters especially the seven sisters. It appears that this series concentrates on one sister per book and I’m very excited to read book 2.

Most enjoyable read about 7 sisters and a brother. Each of the girls are unique. Blessing being the second sister but the first to marry for love, as stipulated in their parents will. There was humour, also a murder to solve. Looking forward to reading the next sister’s adventure to finding love.

Blessing was a tough lady who knew what she wanted and refused to be forced to do something she didn’t want to. Thorne, poor fella, fell hard, and it took a while for him to realize what had happened. This was a juicy and delicious read; the sisters were an awesome bunch, possessing strength, honesty, and a no-nonsense attitude.
