A Lolita boy and a punk girl form a fashion-forward bond without realizing they already know each other from work!

There are two sides to every working one they show when they’re on the job, and one they show when they’re off the clock. For coworkers Sotaro Amata and Akira Hanku, this holds doubly true. Outside the office, these fashionistas don outfits that metamorphose them into completely different people! So what happens when they form a connection after hours…without recognizing who the other person is?

Idk why people feel queerbaited. The first line in the description is “a punk girl and Lolita boy”, reading is important pals. I liked it.

While the plot and volume may be a little thin, this is filled with gorgeous fashion and a "reverse" grumpy-sunshine connection celebrating the joy of finding someone who's into the same things you are, someone whose presence is enough to even pull an introvert out of their shell.

Well, this is too short. That’s my main complaint because everything else is a pip. It’s not really different than Otaku x Punk, except where it’s better written and has better art. Small details.

Technically, it’s more heteronormative, but it’s at least riding a blurry line of liking who you like since one biological female is falling for a crossplayer and all. Either way, I kind of liked it. A lot.

The way it illustrates that people are often living two lives, their work lives and home lives, that switch on and off (fairly literally depicted here) depending on whether they’re on the clock? That’s a fun premise.

Having it focus on two coworkers, one of whom, Amata, is the golden boy of the office and a Lolita boy in his downtime? And the other is the stiff and prickly Hanku, who transforms into a hardcore punk? And their budding romance? Oh, just sign me right up.

Now, like other series, you have to not so much suspend your disbelief as render it inert. The quality of transformation recalls Love Me For Who I Am and the lack of recognizance between the two leads is as bad as Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You.

Otherwise? It really clicked for me, and the art is astonishing at times. The Lolita outfits in particular look like they must have taken forever and the level of detail is nuts. This is pure ocular confection for fashion-oriented people.

The vibe is like a slightly lesser The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t A Guy At All, it isn’t as delightful as that title, but has a similar energy and flow. Given their similar origins starting on Twitter, that’s not wholly surprising.

We basically get the introduction of our leads, their alter egos, and a little interaction. They are really fun together, which is extra impressive given how differently they present. It gives it a strong base to work from and the chemistry is there really early on.

3.5 stars - rounded up because, well, I like it enough that I wish it was longer and there’s a lot here that we’ll hopefully see expanded on in future volumes. Good start for the series.

While not inherently queer on the surface, I 1000% love dynamics that challenge what's normal in romantic relationships. We are getting some gender nonconforming ✨️vibes✨️ (the romance is not romancing quite yet as of vol 1, it looks like a sweet and soft slowburn?) I'm tired of the super femme women and masculine men. I don't identify with any of that. And frankly, I am tired of the tropes. Humans are contradictory, we are fluid, we are complex...and I like the concept of people performing for different roles and exploring that (in this case in a very exaggerated way).

I am curious to see where this goes. My demi heart is reading into things way too much rn. So I may hate how this story developes. But hopefully???? 🤞 I'll update this review with rage if I have been bamboozled with a lil ole bait and switch if the vibes change with more intimacy.

I feel queerbaited. I thought this would be yuri based on the cover, but the lolita is actually a regular office guy who treats dressing up as a "hobby".

I can't tell if there will be more to it because honestly, there was also little meat to the overall story. Very little character development or anything interesting happening.

Mostly it was big pictures of loli outfits and/or "punk" alternative outfits.

Besides the fact that this is a heterosexual romance, which I also enjoy, this was unable to hold my interest in any meaningful way and I am pretty disappointed.

The vibes kind of remind me of The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't a Guy at All just based on the slice of life formatting and the premise. The beginning was a little boring because it was a bit repetitive and it was probably just a compilation of the posts the author originally put on twitter. Just here are these two people who are regular office workers during the day, but different after work hours over and over again. When it got into the actual story part I liked it a little more. I don't feel strongly for either of the characters though so I'm not sure if I'll actually end up continuing.

A “mistaken identity”, rom-com where both characters are gender bent? Yes, please.

This is such a fun, stylish first volume.

Ostensibly, it’s about two office workers who have identities outside of work that are seemingly incongruent with their “work-sonas”.

Handsome and competent Sotaru Amata loves lolita fashion, wearing fancy dresses and wigs outside of work. Meanwhile, grumpy but capable Akira Hanku becomes a super cool, androgynous punk when off the clock. When the two bump into each other outside of work, they don’t recognize each other—but are immediately drawn to each other, realizing quickly that they share a love for fashion.

What lies in store for this unexpected pair?

Personally, I believe every femme deserves a scary dog partner—it’s only fair.

I love this story so far. It’s so much fun and none of the fun is being made at the expense of either character—which I really appreciate.

The humor so far is totally derived from the “mistaken identity”situation. Theres nothing but love and appreciation for each character’s fashion and style choices. Neither character appears ashamed of themselves either—they just want to maintain a private life separate from work. Which, is totally acceptable.

So, I’m really looking forward to reading more of this series. Aesthetically, it’s off the charts. But, story-wise, I’m also invested in how this relationship is going to unfold~

Liebs!

This is a cute story of two coworkers in their late twenties. Sotaro Amata is a delicate looking young man and the office darling for being helpful, efficient, and kind. Akira Hanku is the office whip (I think, or maybe an accountant) and not much liked because of her curt manners.

Outside the office, they're completely different personalities. Amata is a crossdressing lolita. He wears beautiful frilly dresses and a blonde whig, which makes him even more delicate looking. He loves it, as it expresses his sensitive, shy nature, but the hobby does take all his money. On her spare time, Hanku dresses as a punk with fairly manly appearances and heavy makeup.

The two accidentally meet as their off-work personas, but they don't recognise one another as they use different names and both look so different. Hanku accidentally tears Amata's dress and offers to buy a new one, so the two agree to meet to go shopping. In the end, though, he doesn't want her to pay for the new dress. He had so much fun sharing his hobby with another person for the first time ever that he asks if they could meet again.

That's pretty much all that happens in the first volume. It's all very sweet and cute with no drama, and not even a hint that they might know each other at work. But art was lovely and the story made me happy, so it's a four-star read that I'll be glad to return to.

They are works nice and the concept of the story caught my attention though I don’t know if it was executed as well as I would’ve liked it’s interesting to see these workers on their off time and seeing how one is a lolita boy Who treats it like a hobby and the other is a punk girl on her off time it’s not a bad story and I’ll probably keep reading it there’s just not much I think for hard-core manga fans in this though

I really liked this one. It had a great balance of characters and a fun story. It leans heavily into the portrayal of punk and Lolita fashion, which brought out the Project Runway fan in me. The overall vibe is sweet and the budding romance is still forming on the branch. A great start.

I liked the concept but I really wish it did more? It felt so bareboned despite the premise. Hopefully it can gain its footing by vol 2.

Rating this 3 stars feels like a crime, because the artstyle really lured me in.

Reading this felt like flipping through an art book. No plot, but pretty images in crazy cool angles.
And I enjoyed it really! I am fascinated beyond comprehension, but since this actually is a manga and not an art book I was terribly underwhelmed. It felt short and THERE REALLY WASN'T A PLOT. Go read it if you like the cover. It's fun to look at, but that's it.

(I read the description before buying it, so I wasn't tricked, but this lowkey is yuribait. I saw the cover and only grabbed it, because I thought it's yuri...)

Edit: I forgot to mention, but this really reminds me of Crossplay Love: Otaku x Punk...
