Palace life becomes increasingly dangerous for lady-in-waiting Lucia as she learns more about the magical world around her in the second volume of the Webtoon romantasy graphic novel Suitor Armor, featuring exclusive bonus storyline and behind-the-scenes content.
Lucia has just begun her exciting mage apprenticeship with Norrix, finally tapping into her innate capabilities as a magical being, and she sets off to find her fellow fairy Quinn who is captured within the kingdom’s dungeons. While trying to free her, she discovers a shocking secret about the fairy-human war that spirals into a series of mistrustful encounters with the people around her. Building off of Modeus’s newfound ability to speak, Lucia continues to teach him about the world and help develop his sentience. However, as their relationship deepens, the two must grapple with the true violent purpose for his existence…
In this second volume, Norrix’s complicated past is revealed, the connection between Lady Kirsi and King Reimund blossoms, and the darker side of Lucia’s journey to magical discovery rears its head. Complete with original behind-the-scenes content and a bonus storyline exclusive to the book, this second volume includes episodes 18-38 of the greatly successful Webtoon webcomic.
This was such a great read! I liked it just as much as the first book, if not more! The romances are getting developed (and there are so many romance plots!). Modeus is so innocent and sweet, especially his interactions with Lycia. Norrix seems to be crushing on Lucia but I suspect he’ll turn on her later. Kitri and Raimond are so cute as they explore their relationship. Not to mention Baynard and Peres, especially in the bonus scene!
There is ample material for at least a dozen more books, as we still know so little about the war, the fairies, and everyone’s backstories.
Kitri’s father seems to be very sick, which I imagine will be a significant plot point later.
Favorite quotes:
Lucia: It’s complicated. Baynard: With a magical talking suit of armor? I bet it is.
Favorite character: the deer/fairy. And Modeus. I said awww so many times.
Modeus might be one of my favorite fictional characters. He's so soft and sweet and innocent, and learning how to navigate life and the world around him. Norrix is giving me evil vibes and I don't love that. The artwork continues to be absolutely stunning! Looking forward to the rest of the series!
what the actual fck…. that ending of s2 is too sad for words im hoping that ending was some joke and they r not actually all dead (tbh idc ab that knight) but i hope the rest survived pls dont let this be the end of a beginning☹️

I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
Unfortunately, this was a DNF @ 37%.
I continue to by stymied by anything with the romantasy tag (although, I have been saving Faebound for a rainy day), and while this was out of my comfort zone, I've been having an absolute ball with the Webtoon collections that have been coming out, so I was hopeful this would scratch an itch.
The premise is fun. An awakened suit of armour is the bodyguard and suitor of a lady in waiting for the future queen with the added wrinkle of the lady being a fairy and the suit of armour being created to murder fairies.
The problem is that the characters, script, and artwork are all competent, but didn't pique my interest. As with the criticism of a lot of romantasy, it comes of as a rather bland and generic fantasy without the writing and characters for those not there for the novelty of the thing.
Judging by other reviews I'm clearly in the minority and your mileage may vary.
This just wasn't for me and, while I am incredibly grateful to have been given access to the following volume, I won't be reading it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
The continuation of Lucia's story as she seeks answers about her past and the future of her kind was even better than the first. In the first volume, we were introduced to the story and its setting, getting a general overview of the characters. But in this volume, we get to know the characters more deeply, and the mystery and main plot evolve as they embark on a hunt.
I find the conflict between humans and fairies fascinating, especially the half-truths and possible lies Lucia has grown up with all her life.
It’s a pleasure to see Modeus’s character learn new things and reveal different aspects of his personality. His development is one of the most enjoyable parts of the story. He’s like a Frankenstein’s monster, where the real monster is not him, but his creator. He’s all gentleness, yet can’t ignore the fact that he was created to kill.
And, just like the first, the artwork is stunning, with moments that are so beautiful (like the fire butterflies or the blood scene) that they are breathtaking and manage to perfectly convey the emotions of the characters.

I really loved this second volume. It builds on everything I liked in the first one — the characters, the art, the slow-burn tension — and adds more depth, especially for Lucia and Modeus. There’s a lot more emotional weight this time around, and the story is definitely picking up speed.
Volume 2 builds on the momentum of the first with thoughtful character arcs, rich visual storytelling, and deeper exploration of its magical world. The ending raises the narrative stakes significantly. Can’t wait to see where it goes next.
Highlights:
🧚♀️ Lucia’s development from court observer to active magic user is gradual and well-paced. ⚔️ Her relationship with Modeus gains emotional complexity, exploring themes of trust and vulnerability. 🎨 The artwork remains expressive and immersive, capturing both magical action and quieter, emotional moments. 🧙♂️ Expanded worldbuilding introduces new layers of fairy lore and political conflict. 👑 Increased court intrigue and ethical dilemmas add weight to the narrative.
Rating: ★★★★½ rounded up to 5★
I really enjoyed returning to this world and seeing these characters grow. The emotional depth, the gorgeous artwork, and the continued exploration of identity and power made this a standout volume.
Thank you to Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press | Ten Speed Graphic and NetGalley for the ARC of Suitor Armor: Volume 2 in exchange for an honest review.
i know the first book was mostly setup but this was exactly what i wanted from the story. there are tons of social commentary, from allegories for racism and xenophobia to teaching moments about compassion. there's also the same vibes from kpop demon hunters and i absolutely loved it! however, i still feel like modeus is being infantilized. i understand some of the things they discussed and the situations that came about were supposed to act as a chekhov's gun but it still felt squicky to read. a lot of these moments were more akin to a baby learning its ABC's than a romantic development. still, i found myself kicking my feet at other moments because i want them to smooch but i'm thoroughly enjoying the slow burn romance.
tw: on-page animal cruelty/death, racism, xenophobia, and homophobia
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review! 4 stars
The first volume was cute and a nice set up, but this one really dives hard into what book 1 already set up. Even more complications of fairy vs human lore, further understanding fairies and their powers, plus Modeus becoming more and more a person of his own. Lucia's interactions with him continue to be adorable. I also started to really like the romance between her friend and the king (I'm bad with names, sorry T^T). The cast keeps growing more into their own. I'm super excited to see where the mysteries set by this installment go, and I just hope Lucia continues to be safe because she is a precious bean
Volume two we go on a hunt. If you haven’t read book one go no further. We know Lucia is a fairy and that modus can talk. We follow these two further in their life and understanding of who and what they are. We also get to see the king and future queen at least talk to each other if not begin to fall in love. Of course, this book ends exactly where you don’t want it too. And I’m very happy. I have volume three on my iPad, waiting to be cracked open. I really do like that. The author includes a bonus chapter at the end of each book and so far in volume one and two we get to follow the love story of the knight and his sire. I am thoroughly loving and enjoying both of these stories and I want more.
Aaahhh!!! I love this series so much, I am so happy I got approved to read the ARC!
I was only going to read a few pages today but I got so into the story than I ended up finishing it. And the way I screamed when I reached the end. I NEED MORE. Hopefully when the third volume is up as an ARC, I'll be approved as well (though sadly my netgalley feedback ratio isn't very high because I had a reading slump for a while.)
This book has so many amazing things. I love the characters, I love the world building, the plot, the relationships. EVERYTHING.
Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!
Volume two is here! I was so happy to get an eARC of this one.
This one picks up right were the first one stopped, so I won't say too much about it. Of course, the art is great, but the story is progressing in a fun way as well. Lucia is learning more about her past and who she really is. Modeus is growing a lot as a character as well. He is learning more about people's emotions, including his own. Other characters are also changing and growing too.
Such a fun time, can't wait to see where this story is going!
Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love the art style of this graphic novel. We’re getting more growth in Modeus in this one and I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here. I do feel like we don’t actually get much story in each installment. As pretty as it is, it feels like after two volumes we’re still in the very introductory chapters of a story instead of volumes in. Just like the last one, I felt like this one cut off kind of randomly. It’s almost as if we left off in the middle of the sentence. I will absolutely be reading the next volume, though!
What a great second volume, this is quickly becoming a new favorite graphic novel series. It is so cute, the artwork is gorgeous and the main characters are so loveable. This volume had a little bit of everything and there were a couple of moments where I squealed with how cute it was. Highly recommend this series if you are wanting a cozy fantasy series.
I received an eARC thanks to Netgalley and Ten Speed Graphic, all opinions are my own
A magical and intriguing tale of a fairy undercover as a human, political conflict, and a scary-looking robot with the biggest heart!

I've been a fan of Suitor Armor on Webtoon since it's initial release and I was so excited to be granted access to an ARC of volume 2! Purpah's method of slow worldbuilding works in a marvellous way as we as the audience descend into the interpersonal relationships and personalities of all the characters. From knights, royalty, mages and more, each character is distinct and possesses a unique charm, while the socio-political world quietly and not-so-quietly shapes around them.
I cannot wait to see what comes in Volume 3!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This tale left me at the edge of my seat. The Plot follows a war between the fairies and humans. Our main characters ate caught in between and seek to see peace but it will come at the cost of life long friendships. The main romance has just enough tension to keep things interesting. Highly recommend for romantasy lovers. (Received a review copy from Netgalley)
I liked this. The art as always is gorg, I would have loved some more time between when Modeus is able to communicate so clearly and before when there was that language barrier but that's just a personal thing I suppose.
4.5 ⭐️ rounded up! Even better than the first. I loved seeing the character growth of both Lucia and Modeus. Can’t wait to read the next installment!!!
My current favorite graphic novel! Thank you to Netgalley for the arc of this bad boy right here. It's taking my library 8,000 business days to get the first volume in so I scooped up the webtoon app and read the first three volumes there. But the graphic novel had a little Peres and Baynard mini toon about their relationship in the back which I super enjoy. The way I plan to own this entire series. If you haven't started it, start. It just gets better with each volume.
review for volume 1 + volume 2: "suitor of armour" is a captivating webtoon set in a fantastical world inhabited by fairies, elves, mages, and other mythical creatures. the narrative follows our female main character, lucia, who serves as the lady-in-waiting to the future queen and her bestfriend, kriski. as she assists in preparing for her upcoming wedding to king reimund, a war between humans and fairies rages outside the castle walls. so amidst this turmoil, lucia becomes enchanted by a magical suit of armor, modeus, brought to life by the court mage for a royal tournament.
the webtoon thoughtfully addresses themes of race and identity through faeries, elves and humans and their complicated relationship. the portrayal serves as a interesting commentary on racial issues and historical injustices and i loved how subtly but clearly the author addressed it. moreover, the incorporation of lgbtq+ themes was handled with sensitivity and care, adding layers of representation that were just lovely. i also really loved how lucia's family history was carefully and intricately woven into the narrative.
however, my one and only critique of the work is that the characters, while engaging, do not feel as fully developed as they could be. there is significant potential for deeper character exploration that remains untapped, which could enhance the overall narrative experience. i just hope we get to see more character exploration in the subsequent chapters.
also i absolutely adored the bonus chapter! it was so adorable :(
all in all, it is a lovely webtoon and the art style is stunning, adding to the overall charm of the story. i highly recommend!
