Known for his dark humor and simple, yet effective drawing style. Brunetti's best known work is his autobiographical comic series Schizo. Four issues have appeared between 1994 and 2006. Schizo #4 won the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Comic of the Year in 2006.
He has also done numerous covers of The New Yorker.
The lively teacher in this book [2.5 for me!], written as a comic book, uses several great examples to teach his students about change. Afterward, they are tasked with working with a partner or team to come up with examples of how one object can become something else. Teachers might draw inspiration from several of the students' experiments, some of which are more successful than others. All of the materials the students use are easy to find and not expensive, making this book quite practical.
*I received this book as a DRC. I think that this is the first "toon book" that I have read and reviewed. This Makes That: TOON Level 1 is full of innovative ideas and observations. The nature of this book is very Destination Imagination-esque. It is smart and fun to read! This book is a great read for this generation of young innovators.
Graphic Novel - Beginning Reader Brunetti encourages readers to think and explore along with the students as they characters work together in teams to create projects that show change.
