Rate this book
Aeva Storm is a tenacious athlete with the grisly scars to prove it. On the night of her most riveting championship victory, a bolt of lightning rips from the sky, sealing her fate to becoming humanity’s newest kind of weapon. A Modi.

Modi’s are humans reconstructed with synthetic parts, turning them into invulnerable creatures. The innovation was first used as a cure for a fatal disease within the City of Light. But the genius behind the invention has gone rogue with his experiments and the Monarchy is determined to shut him down.

With Aeva's natural athletic abilities, she is the prime recruit for his plan to dismantle the Monarchy, thrusting Aeva into a fight she must finish to the bitter end. If she succeeds, she will unleash the deadliest modi’s ever created, and threaten all that is left of their crumbling civilization.

Her choice is simple: save the lives of those she loves and doom the fate of thousands, or fight back and risk losing it all.

Filled with political intrigue, unbreakable familial bonds, and evocative young love, VIOLET STORM is a gripping read that will challenge the way we think about our own human limitations.

So what is Violet Storm?

Hmmm...Let me think about it…

description

Ouch, my brain!

description

Ouch, my brain!!!

Violet Storm is a perfectly paced adrenaline rush, not only breathless but unique. Anna Soliveres' debut novel grabs anyone brave enough to pick it up from the very first word and treats them to a twisty-turny topsy-turvy young adult dystopian sci-fi that could best be described as The Bourne Identity meets Blade Runner meets Red Queen, plus or minus certain key elements of each. That said, it really stands on its own as extremely gripping enjoyable fun and readers can pick it up comforted to know the sequel, Crimson Earth, is ready and waiting to give readers just as much (if not more) of an unforgettable roller-coaster thrill ride as Violet Storm.

First, our feisty (and I mean tough! Like, *really* tough!) protagonist Aeva Storm gets shocked by lightning...
description

And then, the blurb will tell you there's been some experimental surgery and some slight modifications to her person but ...
description

And then she ends up like this with no idea how or why until the plot grabs us by the collar and smacks us in the nose...
description

Anna Soliveres writes with a strident boldness, the voice of Aeva Storm a veritable rhapsody of no-nonsense resolve, aggression and intensity, impossible to turn away from. But hidden behind her coarse (and actually flawless) exterior, Anna gives us glimpses of heartbreak and emotion as tangible and beautiful as it comes.

Only read this novel at your own risk. Anna's prose is laden with attention-grabbing material and the ingenious combination of the reader discovering the plot and building the world along with the main character wraps around the reader like an electrostatic net sure to satisfy the hungriest of dystopian adrenaline junkies.

Recommended for all ages and/or those take the day off work.

And hey, there's a sequel, too! :D

*ebook provided from the author in exchange for an honest review (I only recently realized I had received this and oh my!)

All the bad feelings suddenly swirl into a giant mass. Time slows, the clock ticks, deafening. But the earth moves. Trembles. Splits beneath my feet. I spin round and round. Until it becomes crystal clear

When Mary opened her eyes, she was standing between the spectators in a weird field, watching a game she had never known before. She looked hesitant, but also with admiration, knowing she had probably woken up in another book world, like the way she always does. She cracked her knuckles. Waited. And then she saw her.

Hellstorm.

The famous Fila Champion, Aeva Storm, and the main character of Violet Storm, the book she was reading. A storm was coming. She could see the thick clouds gathering in the sky. She couldn't imagine what would happen next though. And then, lighting hit, and struck the Hellstorm to the ground. Mary screamed, her eyes widening in fear. This is how her trip started

Things I loved about Violet Storm
⚡ The main character. Aeva was a quick, clever and strong female character, full of worries about the future of her kind and love for the people that meant a lot to her.
⚡ Karth, one of the love interests. His strength and sass, his wit and his fearlessness
⚡ Ruven, the other love interest (and my personally favorite character), and his mysterious and adventurous nature
⚡ Fila, this brutal but unique game. I am sure I would die if I tried to play but I would have liked to watch probably
⚡ The fast paced plot and the amount of twists that blew my mind and left me itching to find out what would happen next
⚡ The point behind the dystopian world, a universe where people turn every day into immortal machines, and whether humanity can fight the unsatiable urge of humans to feel like gods
⚡ The beautiful writing, that captivated me and made me feel a part of the story (although that was not very good, considering that danger lurked in every corner xD)
⚡ The excellent portrayal of feelings, twisted thoughts, unsettling worries, terrifying secrets and basically the never ending feeling that something is terribly, terribly wrong, a feeling I usually expect and even search for in dystopian novels

The only thing that held me from giving this book 5 out of 5 stars was some dystopian cliches that made me realize the genre may be getting a little bit repetitive. Other than that, the story sucked me in and made me enjoy every part of it.

P.S I want Aeva to end up with Karth, although Ruven is my favorite. I believe it is the right way.

Overall, I totally recommend this for fans of a quick sci-fi / dystopian universe and a story of a girl who was trying to find who her world was, when she wasn't even sure about herself, a story of struggles and betrayal and above all, a story of how humans sometimes just cross the limit

~Highly Recommended

This started out a little odd because Aeva was struck by lightening while playing sports and then wakes up miles from home with no memory of how she got there. Then it goes onto her finding out her village has been decimated and her desire for revenge etc. I thought that the author had forgotten about explaining about the lightening, but no, it all comes together in the end and what a story it is!!!

I loved Aeva. She is kick ass at her chosen sport, Fila, and is top of her game. When she wakes up from the lightening, it's to find, not only her village and family gone, but that she has been modified! Her life is turned totally upside down yet Aeva rolls with it and does what's needed. She doesn't forget who she is though and stays strong and determined no matter what.

The plot of this was really fast paced and extremely addictive. Once started, I couldn't stop! There is so much mystery and intrigue throughout that I flew through it. I loved the world and characters the author has created and particularly the modi element of the plot. It's well written and developed and I can't wait to read more in this series.

In all, this was a surprisingly entertaining and engaging read and one I'm so glad I took a chance on. Richly detailed and captivating, Violet Storm is a must read!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review. Thankyou Anna

I ended up actually really enjoying this book. The story had me hooked from the first page and another thing that impressed me throughout the course of this book was how unique it was. I've read quite a lot of young adult books, but can't say that I've read one like this. The concept was really interesting and the story was easy to follow and get caught up in.
And can I just say, that I really loved Aeva. I mean, like I really really loved her character. She was tough as nails but not so guarded that I couldn't feel for her. Her athletic side was probably one of my favorite parts of this book. (Speaking of, that scene towards the end where Aeva threatened the castle guards to play a REAL game of Fila with her or else she would dress them up in her cousins' dresses, yeah... PERFECT.)
The history intrigued me and I'm looking forward to learning more about the world and how it came to be.
Overall, a very rich story and I definitely think I'll be picking up the next one.

Thank you to Xpresso Book Tours and author Anna Soliveres for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review!

Find this review and more on my blog The Rest Is Still Unwritten!

Anna Soliveres’s debut novel, Violet Storm is a rich and descriptive forward moving dystopian novel that is deeply entertaining and blends together elements of sci-fi with danger, intrigue and betrayal.

Told through the eyes of Aeva Storm, a tough as nails athlete, Violet Storm is a futuristic dystopian that sees Aeva’s world turned upside down when her village is destroyed and she is kidnapped and modified into something more than human. Now struggling with her newfound abilities and the loss of time between when she was playing a Fila game to when she woke up drastically altered with her family presumed dead, Aeva finds herself at the centre of diabolical plan to overthrow her kingdom’s Monarch. Forced to play the role of someone she is not in order to get close to those in power, Aeva slowly discovers that she is the perfect weapon to bring about a new era where everyone are transformed into Modi’s (modified human beings) and only by making hard decisions will Aeva been able to save her people.

I’ll be honest here; I went into this novel not sure what to expect. The premise sounded promising, but at the same time didn’t give too much away. I had hopes I would enjoy it, but didn’t expect too much. I was ecstatic to discover from the opening chapter of the novel that the story was completely captivating.

Violet Storm was a rich dystopian read that follows a strong heroine and has an exciting storyline. I was entertained by its fast moving storyline and really enjoyed the character dynamic seen throughout the story. There were plenty of surprises and developments that altered the storyline from time to time and kept things moving in unpredictable directions.

As the main character, I very much liked Aeva. She’s clever and daring and has a lot of fight in her. That being said, Aeva really finds herself caught between a rock and a hard place in this novel; an unwilling pawn in a horrible plan to over throw her nations monarch. With those she loves threatened, Aeva doesn’t have a lot of choice, except to go along with a plan to assassinate her king. An athlete through and through, Aeva has a lot of fire in her and her modified body combines perfectly with her brave heart to see her fight to make the right choices, so matter how badly she wishes she didn’t have to.

Author Anna Soliveres introduces Aeva to two very different possible love interests over the course of the book although there isn’t any real romance within the story at this point in time. Personally I think there’s possibility with both guys and like them both, although I think the one Aeva meets first may just have a nose on the other guy in my mind.

Lush and exciting, Violet Storm races towards a thrilling ending that sees out heroine make a startling choice and surprises be revealed. Featuring a great ending that opens up a world of possibilities for Soliveres to develop the story further, I’m super excited to read the next book as soon as it’s released!

This book is very different than any i had read in awhile. It's a great blend of dystopian and scifi. I really enjoyed it.

I like the strong character that is Aeva, she has a tough type personality. I found her a great main character. I had a hard time putting it down, that is for sure.

In this book we get detailed descriptions of a world in a crisis. There are decaying woods, desperate cannibals, with unique cities and towns with lots of descriptive details, I felt like I was there experiencing it right along with her.

The whole concept for the Modi's is pretty unique and very interesting. This is a very unique concept that I really enjoyed.

I really need book 2 now, I didn't want to leave this unique world that the author created.

Great read that I highly recommend. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

The cover is awesome, and is what drew me to read about the book. As I have said before, the cover is one of the most important parts of the book. At least for me anyway,

I was given this book for my honest review.

Hey All! I'm going to start this Goodreads author adventure right and be the first to review my debut novel, Violet Storm. I hope it isn't ridiculous that I've done so (and that I've humbly given it five stars). My purpose is to give more context to new readers who want to learn more about why this book is worth their time.

What I love most about this story is the protagonist, Aeva herself. There are few things she loves in this post-apocalyptic world: her family and Fila--a sport where her skill and talent is unrivaled.

I wanted her to come across obstacles she really had no way of coming out the winner. There were bigger, stronger, badder opponents than she, and still she remained brutally if not naively confident. But somehow…there's a chance. A chance that all the things that had gone wrong might be righted. Will she find it? Beyond a sport or competition, what does it really mean to win in this mind-game she's been thrust into? Will she succeed? Or will she learn an even more valuable lesson?

The world she lives in is savage and cold-blooded, and the stakes are very high. Her choice is simple: one life to save thousands. But can she do what's demanded of her and take an innocent life? Or will she unleash an even greater monster?

Violet Storm is a fast-paced, YA Sci-Fi adventure. So hang on to your seats!

I stumbled across Anna's blog shortly before her release and was immediately captivated by the cover and sound of her novel. It was different, fascinating, and well, I knew I had to read it! And after getting my hands on it, I was even more blown away by how awesome it was! Witnessing the world in a completely different state, with some technology and "procedures" that are incredibly horrific, as well as interesting, left me sitting up to the early morning hours because I had to finish just one more chapter. Aeva's a strong character, inside and out, and I appreciated the way that she looked at the world. The fact that she'd been an athlete in a brutal game was a cool twist, and suited her well. And what she's thrown into? It's just nuts. And definitely leaves you wanting more. I'm definitely trying to not be impatient for the next book, because I know I'll be reading it as soon as I can!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I loved Violet Storm and could not put it down. It is fast paced, with an original plot, great world building, adventure, and lots of twists. I would characterize this book as sci-fi dystopian YA. It takes place in the future in a troubled society on a dying planet. The heroine Aeva Storm is a really admirable character who faces complex moral choices while trying to figure what has happened to her. There is a love triangle but it is not an overwhelming feature of the book. Aeva Storm has bigger goals and problems than finding a boyfriend (which seems to be the main focus of so many YA novels). I am so glad there is a sequel because I don't want to stop reading.

I really enjoyed reading this book! The characters were all really well developed and the setting and plot were well created. I really liked the main character, Aeva! She was a kick-ass heroine and I loved her sense of humor and sarcasm. I LOVED Ruven! He was such an amazing character and he was definitely my favorite character in this book! There was plenty action to keep me tearing through the book to know what happens! I definitely plan on continuing this series and I can't wait to start reading the second book!

Futuristic dystopian society with streaks of influence from some of your favorite series in the YA dystopian sub-genre as well as YA fiction in general. The writing style is attention grabbing and the story moves along quickly, making the book a rapid read. Without spoiling anything, I enjoyed the emphasis on tech in the book as compared to other future-dystopians that only glaze over it. As always when I finish a book that is part of a series and the next one isn't out yet -- I am sad.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

Anna Soliveres has created an outstanding sci-fi novel with Violet Storm. I enjoyed her writing style a lot. Even though it was a bit slow paced for my liking it was exciting, had twists and turns and mysterious. She created a fabulous world, amazing characters and charm within the story that leads to an awesome series.

The main character Aeva Storm is a young Fila champion from Agria. During a championship she gets struck by lightening and wakes up in a strange place. She finds out from a man named Behr that her home is gone and her family is dead. She must find her way back to see what has been told of her home. As she journeys back she comes across Karth, a young man, who saved her life from Outlanders. When she arrives to Agria she met by a young lady and others who take her back to the City. There she meets Ruven where learns the truth of her existence and the world she lives in.

I totally loved Aeva! She was a strong kickass lead. She had strength and determination alone from being an athlete, but when she awakes after the championship game she realizes she has more strength than she can remember. She handled the truth of her existence pretty well. If it were me I'd be screaming like a banchee. To be a modi must have been a shocker.

A modi is a person that has been modified/ altered. They have super strength, new body parts and changes with technology. She is a Modi, but the extent of her modification is that she is herself, but in someone elses body and the person she is now is unexpected! She must now face the fact she can never be Aeva Storm again, but must become Violet (read to find out who Violet is) and she learns all that Behr has said was a lie only to kill the Monarch and assume position as the new ruler.

Karth is a sweet young man. When we are introduced to him on Aeva's journey to see Agria he is all swoon worthy, but as the story progresses and I learned more about him I learned that his hatred for Modi's will be his strongest weakness and in the end he becomes his worse nightmare. Ruven is hot as ever! I loved learning about his upgrades and why he wore a coat all the time. His secret was definitely awesome! Karth and Ruven are from different tracks, but they both are one in the same. Their father's are both jerks working together for different reasons.

The romance was subtle and I enjoyed that because it didn't take away from the story at all. The "love triangle" was cute to me. The fact the Aeva felt indebted to Karth, but Ruven loved her and hated that she couldn't see it -- totally awesome!

The Monarch was not a bad guy as I assumed he would be. It was never him doing all the wrong, but Behr who deceived everyone. Behr is a straight evil, psycho douche bag. Every story needs that one character to want to rule and be evil with power he created, but he takes it way to far. Punishing his own son, kidnapping children, modifying people who don't consent -- I mean really. Is the war that serious for him? I totally hated him!

That ending was epic, but also such a cliffhanger. Is Behr still alive and what happened to Knox and Pique? Like OMG -- I can't believe how this ended!

I am excited for the sequel next year to see what happens left and if those unanswered questions get answered.

5 ++++ Action Packed…COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN stars!

Aeva Storm is a champion Fila player from Agria.  The last she remembers is she is struck by lightning while playing and wakes in a strange place.  She is told her city is destroyed and everyone perished with it.  Including her family.  She is devastated and goes to find the city to search for her family.  Along the way she meets Karth who assists her in her travels.  Despite their attraction for each other, they don’t necessarily get a long and part ways.

She discovers Agria in ruins.  Her family is presumably dead and the only thing that resembles anything is her old Fila field.  Karth has followed her and together they are attacked.  She is taken by the Alliance Rescue Team.  A team formed to assassinate the Monarch that resides at the City of Light.  They believe is responsible for destroying Agria.

Aeva learns of a secret weapon and agrees to assassinate the Monarch.  She befriends a man named Ruven.  Where she learns of the Modis, humans that go through scientific modification,  and that she is one of them.  Modified against her will.  She is only beginning to lean the depths of her modification…

She learns that she cannot trust the Alliance.  She finds they are keeping Karth and with the help from Ruven she helps him escape.

They flee to the outer limits of the City of Light she finds her family alive.  They don’t recognize her and with her confusion she is attacked by a guard and drugged.  Only to wake up in the Monarch’s castle.

Things are not as they seem.  She sets out of a mission to right what has been wronged.  Save her family, Karth and the Monarch but one man stands in her way.  When she learns that someone dear to her has been modified she knows she must act fast to save the entire city.

There were so many layers to this story.  It was absolutely fascinating to read. Take all the good things our of Divergent and Hungers Games and miss them up and BAM you have the Modi Series.  Only regrets is I have to wait so long to read the next one.   Amazing.  Read.

4.5/5 stars

I would like to thank the author for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Doing so does not sway my review in any way.

As I read this book, I couldn't help but feel a bit of satisfaction. A true YA science fiction novel that is as refreshing as it is unique. A strong female character who is basically an athletic tomboy that lacks self confidence in one area but is like a steroid overload in another. She's created in a way that many young adult females can relate to, to a point. And that's enough for the readers to make a connection and put themselves in Aeva's character which than brings the story to life, on a whole new level.

There are layers of stories with different heightened emotions throughout this book. There are times that the action gets so intense, that you find yourself a little confused on what just happened, but a quick look back and you find yourself back on track. The details throughout the book are vibrant, descriptive and allow the reader to see the story as the author intended it to be seen. As a reader, I did not find myself on sensory overload but a constant level of awareness that kept the story flowing.

Reading this, there were several different novels, from different authors, that came to mind. Scott Westerfeld's Uglies, Cormac McCarthy's The Road, Stephen Baxter's Flood series, and the movie Mad Max. I don't know if the author received any of her inspiration from any of those but to be compared in feeling to them is a huge compliment to the author. As a reader, I felt the thrills of the game, the awkwardness of the unknown, the adrenaline of the chase, the hope of the found and the sadness of things being taken away, even if only temporarily.

Set in the far future of our own world, the Earth is starting to die away. Societies have degraded to complete opposites of one another and the government is playing big brother in a way that is far more sinister than one would think, while humanity is at a point of losing all stability because of it. The nature of the Modi and the reasons for creating them are learned in this novel and the reality of how delicate humanity is against the stark backdrop of life makes for a story that is getting it's start in this novel and can only provide more insight and action in the further novels.

Anyone who likes a science fiction novel that is earth based and not space base will enjoy this novel. Lovers of the classic dystopia novels, such as 1984 will find a story comparable in feeling and maturity in this one. Those just starting in the science fiction genre would also find this to be a good one to start out with. The author treats the reader with respect in their knowledge and allows the reader to think and flow with the story itself.

Centuries into our future, the world is a dark, bleak place. The very ground is sick, making it nigh on impossible to grow crops or raise livestock. Aeva Storm lives in Agria, a town striving to create new strains of grains and vegetables that will somehow grow in such an inhospitable environment. An incurable disease is also ravaging the world’s human survivors, and the way to treat the disease is to replace the diseased body organ with a synthetic one – if you can afford it.

Aeva is a professional athlete, playing in an extremely violent game known as Fila. Beating your opponents to a pulp is a valid a strategy as is scoring points by throwing the glass ball into the goals.

When Aeva is struck by lightning in the midst of one of her fila games, it seems her life is over. However, she wakes weeks later in a shed out in the country, bewildered and disorientated and miles from her beloved town.

From there, her life gets even more bizarre. How is it she can smash through a solid wooden table without exerting effort? Why can she see in the dark and hear better than she could before?

When she is informed that her town has been destroyed, she goes into a state of denial, and rushes there immediately to verify the claims and look for her family, for they mean the world to her.

And though her journey is fraught with danger, though she is not without allies. But why does the first ally she makes, a young man similar to her in age, insist so adamantly that she covers her face every time they meet other people? Is she so ugly from years of facial injuries receiving while playing fila that he thinks no one can bear to look at her? Why then won’t he stop staring at her?

From there, things become more complex, as Aeva is drawn into a web of deceit and betrayal beyond anything she would have thought possible.

Violet Storm is a thrilling read, with a host of engaging characters. Violet herself is a complex girl, confident and abrasive yet full of insecurities. She is also driven to find and save her family, whatever the cost. Yet even this is not as simple as it sounds, causing her much anguish and soul searching. The other protagonists that come alongside her are fully fleshed out, as are the villains of the story.

Violet Storm presents us with a detailed description of a world in crisis. We see decaying woods, desperate cannibals, unique towns and cities each with their own detailed histories and cultures.

I make no secret of the fact that I love post-apocalyptic and dystopian fiction and I’ve read a lot of both genres, singly and combined. As time goes on, it becomes harder and harder to find something that’s truly fresh, more than a little different from what has come before.

That freshness can be found in Violet Storm, both in concept and in Aeva. I won’t go into much detail because it would be too easy to fall into spoilers but I was especially intrigued by Ms. Soliveres’ idea behind the plot. For one thing, we’ve seen other stories make use of the ark as a salvation for humanity—the movie 2012 is a good example—but the author goes a step further and shows us the societies that have arisen from the arks. The story takes place in what used to be the United States centuries earlier but there really are no significant elements of that prior civilization. The one obvious thing that has survived is class distinction based on level of power and wealth.

Aeva is an enigma, to the reader and to herself. From nearly the beginning of the tale, we know that Aeva is a strong athlete and that she doesn’t consider herself to be attractive because of the scars she’s gotten from playing the very rigorous Fila. What the reader and Aeva don’t know is what has happened since a dramatic lightning strike. Other people come into her life, particularly two young men named Karth and Ruven, but with each new meeting come more questions. As answers begin to come to light, Aeva must decide what is really important to her and especially whether she will get her revenge against those who have changed her world irrevocably.

On the whole, Violet Storm is really engaging but I did feel the first third of the book dragged somewhat. Because Aeva has lost her memory of the last month, the reader also doesn’t know what’s going on and it was a bit difficult to hang in there with her till the truth started to become clear. I recommend that any reader who’s beginning to fade away just hang in there a little longer—the wait is well worth it. In the meantime, I’m already looking forward to the next book, Crimson Earth.

I was super excited to read this book as soon as I read the description. I love dystopians, and this one sounded unique and intriguing.
I was SO not disappointed! I loved it! The premise is amazing and it was executed perfectly! It's sort of like X-Men meets The Hunger Games.
Aeva Storm is an amazing main character; she's strong, intelligent, intense, emotional... I loved getting inside her head! She's wonderfully complex. I enjoyed the love triangle between her, Karth, and Ruven immensely. I liked that it was present throughout the story, adding some nice tension ;-), but it didn't overshadow the rest of the plot. Aeva is no damsel in distress, and she keeps her eye on the ball, not the boy.
Ruven was especially fascinating to me. As his mysterious past slowly unraveled, I fell more and more in love with him. ♡
The plot was fast paced and never boring. I was pleasantly surprised when about half way through I literally gasped and had to put the book down to absorb what I'd just read. I don't want to give anything away, but...
Holy plot twist Batman!!!
I love when a book takes me by surprise and by the end this one had done that to me many times!
Not to be repetitive, but- I LOVED this book! And I cannot wait for the next one!!

So an athletic, scarred, tomboy of a heroine and a really intriguing plot, which is what attracted me to the book in the first place. And I’m really glad that I chose this book, which is not one of my usual genres, although I do enjoy a bit of sci fi.

This book is a real page turner (or, for those of us with e-readers, a real screen tapper), and a real treat to read. There were a couple of points in the book which totally blind-sided me, you know that moment when you go “OMG I wasnt expecting that”. And this book did that on more than one occasion. Particularly with the ending. I really wasn’t sure which way it was going to go. Right til the last gasp. But it was a great conclusion to this volume. There is one problem though……the next book isn’t out yet…

The score…. this is very close indeed to an A- but on balance, a high performing B+ (4* Amazon).

When I began this book, I was taken with Aeva’s strong character traits. I couldn’t help admiring her strength—both physically and mentally. She’s a renowned athlete in a brutal sport, which I found atypical, yet it perfectly suits her character.

Though this book seems more dystopian than sci-fi to me, I was immediately drawn into the world Ann Soliveres created, which vaguely resembled the poor districts and Capitol region in The Hunger Games. But that’s where the similarities end.

With solid character development, a story that moves quickly, and twists and turns along the way, this is a solid first novel for Anna Soliveres. I look forward to reading more of her work.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I'll take more, please.

This was a book I didn't rush to finish--not that I didn't want to, but I loved the story world and I wanted to stay there a while. Which is why I'm sad the next book isn't out already. I totally would have binge read the entire series given an opportunity.

I loved the characters, the war-torn society, the political plotting and the dangers of this wonderful story. The characters are still chatting away in my head, and I hope it's not long before I get to read them in action again.

Content: Some violence.

Ann Soliveres is a new author to me but if this book is any indication, I really hope that there is another one soon. Violet Storm is loaded with action and is a fast paced read. There are a lot of twists and turns in the story and it kept me guessing throughout. The author paints a vivid picture of the world she lives in and I found it very easy to get into the story. If you enjoy dystopian novels, you’ll like Violet Storm by Anna Soliveres. It’s a bit on the violent side so I would definitely recommend for older teens rather than younger.

I read this book in less than 3 days, it's so good! Violet Storm is Book 1 in Soliveres' MODI Series, and Book 2 (Crimson Earth) is set to come out in a few days! The story is full of adventure and mystery, and Anna paints a very vivid picture of what our world and society as we know it COULD become. I highly recommend Violet Storm if you're interested in a Sci-Fi story that is thrilling and fantastical.

I really enjoyed Violet Storm. Ms. Soliveres did a wonderful job. This book held my attention all the way through. The characters are well-developed and her descriptive style is wonderful. I look forward to the sequel.

I absolutely adored this book. It's so, so smart, and so beautifully written. An edge-of-your-seat read, with characters who grip you and swirl you through the story. Can't wait for the sequel!

12/16 - no change in my earlier review - I reread this so I would have a clue when I read the second in the series.

This was a gift. Someone knows the author and gave me this book to read. I waited for vacay and read it on the beach. I enjoyed it and will read the 2nd one.

In the beginning I was getting tired of her fixation on her looks -but that gets explained and when it does it stops bothering me so kudos for the author. I liked 'Violet' and think she's a good YA female lead - in a sci/fy genre too. Like I said I will read the 2nd one when it's published.

This book transported me to a frightening future where cities are wiped out with bombs, people are modified into dangerous weapons, and violence and deception are political tools. The writing is imaginative and wonderfully descriptive. I found myself wishing there were a movie version. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel!
