Alda DeLuca is an important man in New York City Italian mafia. He has two daughters Alessia and Gia DeLuca. He's trying to increase his power in the city and secure an alliance with The Rossi and The Bianchie family, and that's why he's marrying off both his daughters to Alessia to Rico Bianchie and Gia to Miceli Rossi. The girls are set to meet their future husband's for the first time downstairs. He's one of the Five Families and wants a marriage between Alessia and a son of the Five Families. He chose Rocco for her and Miceli Rossi for Gia. But there was a mix-up and she met Miceli first and the two connected. Thirty-four years old Miceli Rossi is the head of the Rossi family and agruably the most powerful clan in New York City. He rule the city. He's handsome, dangerous, callous and powerful. He's also considered feared, ruthless and cutthroat and get whatever he wants. Alessia accidentally went into the wrong room because her mother told her to and she meets Miceli and the two immediately hit it off. Miceli was drawn by the beautiful innocent, sweet and shy young woman. Alessia was intrigued by the powerful mafia boss and the two started bantering with each other. She wasn't what he had expected and it was refreshing. But when he called her Gia, Alessia knew that she was in the wrong room and left which really made Miceli mad. He meets Gia and didn't want the beautiful stature-like, stoic mafia princess and told her that he couldn't marry her.
Miceli tells Aldo that he can't marry Gia and that he wanted Alessia. Aldo tells him no because he made a promise to Rocco's father a year ago for Alessia to be Rocco's wife. Miceli couldn't believe that Aldo turned him down and tell him no, and nobody tells him no. He gets what he wants and he was going to come up with a plan to tell his woman. Because he had claimed her for himself from the moment he saw her. Miceli and Rocco was bitter rivals and she didn't deserve to be with him. Because he's villainous, violent and takes pleasure in hurting his woman and he wouldn't think twice to breakdown Alessia and destroy her spirit. Rocco Bianchie is a monster who killed his last girlfriend Mercedes. She mysteriously vanished after they had a big fight, and no criminal charges had been found. Alessia is attracted to Gia's fiance and would rather marry him if she had to marry a complete stranger. She doesn't want to hurt her sister's feelings about her attraction. But Gia doesn't care if she lives or dies or who she marries because of her broken which left her died inside. Alessia's innocence was enticing to both men. But where Rocco wanted to destroy that innocence Miceli wanted to preserve it and get to know her better.
Alessia decided that she was going to choose her own path and live for herself and ran away. Miceli can not get her out of his mind and decided to stalk her by going over to her house. It is then that he saw her leaving her house and hopping into a rideshare and followed them which ended at Penn Station. He got out and asked her what she was doing and she told him that she was running away because she didn't want to marry a stranger and choose for herself. As the two was talking Miceli saw a threat, a mask man came out and started shooting at them in broad daylight. Miceli shield Alessia and killed the guy, then took her home with him thus kidnapping her, that wasn't his plans in getting her but when the circumstance arises he took advantage of it. Miceli tells her that he believed that the assassin was after her and she would be safest in his penthouse because his building was heavily protected with armed security patrolling. He forced her to marry the next morning telling her that his name would cover and protect her. The two got marry and he took her virginity and when she wanted to go back home to talk to her parents he was happy because he get the chance to rub it in Aldo's face that he had won. By him marry Alessia it triggered friction in the Five Families and a meeting was called between The Rossi, The DeLuca's, The Bianchie's, The Caperelli's, and The Milano's. Rocco's had been a warpath since Miceli stole Alessia from. He thinks that Alessia belongs to him. He's unhinged since Miceli took Alessia and the two got into a fist fight and he threatened Miceli that he has not won and that he's going to lose everything.
Rocco wants more territory and to takeover some of the Milano's territories because he feels like they're not doing a good job. But according to their great-grandfathers each of the Five Families were allocated a specific territory from their time and each member must stick to their respective territories and they must not go against each other. Rocco doesn't longer want to go by truce set for the Five Families centuries ago by their great-grandfathers and is willing to spill the blood of any of their members to get what he wants starting with Miceli.
Rocco setup a diversion for Miceli about his Enzo being shot and at the hospital, and where he would kill Leo, and kidnap Alessia from the doctor's office since he's delusional and believe Alessia belongs to him. Miceli no longer care about the truce and decided to end it this craziness after Rocco took the woman he loved and put his unborn childs life in danger. He and his brother's storm his estate and rescued Alessia from that madman killing him. I'm going to stop here and you would have to read the book to find out Miceli faith with the Five Families. Will they kick him off the table? Will Rocco's family retaliate for the death of him? Did Rocco hurt Alessia? Did Leo died in the shoot-out? Find out in this spellbounding and pulse-pounding mafia story where this innocent woman conquered this big and dangerous mafia boss.
