The demon Kinzer and his lover, Janka, have been sent by Satan to spy on The Raze, a gang of rogue demons who are working with God to bring about Armageddon. When someone exposes their true allegiances, the Raze clips Kinzer’s wings and murders Janka. Kinzer manages to escape. He tracks down Satan’s allies to warn them about a mole in their midst when he learns that they’ve located the Antichrist—a powerful weapon that could prevent the apocalypse. Devon McCormack grew up in the Georgia suburbs with his two younger brothers and an older sister. At a very young age, he spun tales the old fashioned way, lying to anyone and everyone he encountered. He claimed he was an orphan. He claimed to be a king from another planet. He claimed to have supernatural powers. He has since harnessed this penchant for tall tales by crafting worlds and characters that allow him to live out whatever fantasy he chooses. Devon is an out and proud queer man living in Atlanta, Georgia.

Devon's body of work ranges from erotica to young adult, so readers should check the synopses of his books before purchasing so that they know what they're getting into.

A Hearts On Fire Review

4.25 HEARTS--Bloodied, Battered, Bruised...and Wanting More

For the curious and others who thought "Ooh, lookit an angel on the cover, must get!" and skipped the blurb, let's get the warning out there first. Read the blurb. Don't take it lightly. This book is dark. How dark? There's extreme blood and breath play, knives being inserted into orifices kind of violence, hell there's violence that I'm sure a human could not sustain, stabbing in triceps, splinters in cocks...and tons of dry anal sex. HEAPS OF PENETRATION WITH MONSTROUS PENISES OF OBSCENE, INHUMAN LENGTH INTO BONE DRY ORIFICES!!!!! I felt like I should say a prayer for those torn backsides or send a barrel of lube to Kinzer and the gang because I'm sure if they tried it once, they might like it. The girth and length of one of the higherlings alone...Holy moly was there a lot of dry penetration. I now think of saliva as lube as a luxury after reading this story.

I'm getting a little off track, but trust me, the dub con/non-con/extremely graphic sex doesn't just happens once or twice in case you think you can tough it out. It's laced throughout this story. If those boys weren't fighting, they were sexing...violently! There's also brief incest flashbacks. Blood. Grit. Oh not to mention it takes the Christian mythology and twists it on its rear. That's right, folks, the bad guys-Lucifer and crew are the good guys.

So are you still with me? Get that this is just fiction? The author created quite a tale. And I love nothing more than really good tale especially if theology/history/mythology is mixed in. So I'll try to summarize the major concepts, eh?

In "Clipped", God is the ultimate bad guy - selfish, revenge seeking and wishes to destroy mankind. Heaven and Hell do exist but Heaven is actually the bad place, Hell, the good place. Lucifer was God's lover. And God created Earth as a gift for his lover, Satan. Earth was not God's first creation, he made angels or higherlings in his most divine attributes which include massive dongs that could not fit a human hole comfortably. But being a selfish, vain creator he placed the most beautiful higherlings in charge and ignored the regular higherlings. Lucifer fought for equality for all and was cast out of Heaven. Thus creating Hell and all the higherlings who followed Lucifer were known as the Fallen or demons.

Heaven and Hell have battled before but "Clipped" starts in modern day Georgia where the start of Armageddon is near. God wants to destroy the world, Lucifer wants to save mankind. Both have special armies and creations to help even the playing field. God wants Christ to be born to start the destruction; Lucifer wants the Antichrist to spread love and peace. Kinzer is a Fallen who recently had his black wings clipped but he has to try and warn Satan's spies on Earth while there is still time.

Now "Clipped" is more of an ensemble cast, definitely gay fiction with a little romance thrown in between the bloody action and sex. And the ending is a cliffhanger that might bring about a case of the sads. The author was a film major and really shows. I can't compare this book to any other book I've read but if I had to liken it to a movie it'd be a gay angel/demon clusterfuck version of Kill Bill--gory, bloody, gritty and action packed!

Kinzer has just lost his lover, has lost his powers and thrown into an underground human brothel. His plans of warning his comrades gets derailed by an abused human prostitute named Kid. From there Kinzer has an epic adventure, one turn after the next. One never knows who to trust, which ally is backstabbing whom, etc. All of the angels, fallen or otherwise are owners of some pretty creative names--Dedrus, Treycore (which kept reminding me of the Atreyu from the Neverending Story for some reason), Veylo (okay this one kept reading Velcro), etc. Just when I thought I got the cast of characters down, two more gets introduced...I was almost tempted to write notes. The Raze, demon spies for God, brutally follow Kinzer and company (Kid, Fallen Treycore, owner of twenty inches betwixt his thighs, sweet Fallen Dedrus and Maggie, a pregnant human crack(?)whore) as they try to evade the Raze and fight back with swords (literally and figuratively *coughs*cocks*coughs*)!

I've never read a more rape happy bunch than these angel/demons. Boy are they a lusty bunch. This book is definitely a part of the erotica category. But to be honest after all the dry sex, it wasn't as erotic to me. I became numb like a certain person's bum. Also, I was tired of reading about the "perfect love handles" after the third time. I get it. They have perfect bodies, these demon/angels. Sometimes the descriptions was a little on the repetitive side. I get that erotica has a tendency to be more about aesthetics than emotions but I'd appreciate description variation.

Other than that and the sometimes forgotten bruises, maladies and their effects (a human gets stabbed in the triceps and was able to walk away with no healing time; or a bloody part in the jungle, no magics to help heal and no infection?), the story rocked. This story is not fuzzy or pink. It's desperate. It's heart pumping. It's dark. It's grotesque. Even a little funny. The characters will stay on the brain whether it be a positive or negative, they will cause some sort of reaction from the reader.

And the way "Clipped" ended...there better be a sequel in the works!! I am not above pleading because it can't end there. I need happy endings! I actually stared at the end of the ebook and read "The End" and searched to see if I missed a bit more in my frantic page turning. Sadly, I didn't miss anything. It really was the end.

I love Kinzer, Dedrus, Kid and Treycore. I even sort of like Maggie, her reactions to the immortals felt natural given her circumstance. And really enjoyed the abused characters' self reflection--namely Kid and Maggie. It gave depth.

I need resolution. I want more. And I'm hoping for some resurrection (*hint**hint*)...because it can't end like that. Gripping fiction. If you aren't fazed by the warning/triggers, this might be your kind of story.

P.S. I thought the book dedication was a hoot!

Dear Mr. McCormack,

My friend Adam and I recently embarked on a buddy read of your book, Clipped. He and I are concerned for the health and wellbeing of your Higherlings and Fallen, thus we've put together a rend and torture care package, of sorts, that we were hoping you could forward to them.

Adam is concerned that some will not be allowed adequate healing time, so he respectfully requests that this* be utilized… appropriately.
*we would be willing to work with you on sizing.

Now that that's out of the way, let's pow wow about Clipped and how I'm a sheep to be led around by a certain resident peer pressuring pervologist.

Baby aka resident pervologist pretty much said it all in her review.

Clipped is not for everyone. Hell, even you think you're at expert level on the perv scale it still may squick you the fuck out. BUT… if you can get past the monster cock-no lube-rending sex and see the actual story, it's really good. Seriously. Spit doesn't count as lube when you're talking about a 20" cock. Sorry. I'm having a hard time building that bridge.

Anyhoo, I've always enjoyed stories that involve angels and demons especially books wherein the traditional beliefs about said beings is challenged. Not only that but Mr. McCormack stirred in an entertaining spy theme which kept me turning the pages. He clearly has talent. I think it's a bit unpolished at this juncture, but if anyone can write a book that sticks with me for any length of time, that's inherently a win.

Some highlights:

The fight/sex scene… *fans self* gives a whole new meaning to "angry sex".

Woof!

You know what else is a win for me? Authors that make me chuckle! As strange as it may sound, through all the monster cock/hamburger meat anus sex I laughed loud and often. Probably the loudest was when Kinzer and Kid find Treycore and Dedrus as strippers in a club called Dick Dongs and have to buy time to talk to them.

Kinzer slipped his wallet out of his back pocket and sifted through the billfold. "What can I get for twenty?"

"I'll give you directions to the nearest McDonald's."

description

So… monster cocks. It seems all angels aka higherlings and demons aka fallen are exceptionally well endowed. Treycore being the biggest beast of them all clocking in at 20" which Kid cannot wait to get on. They have a wicked sexy water/breath play scene. *snarly growl*

Ah, Kid, crazy nutjob whackadoodle. I sure did ❤ his crazy ass, though.
description

Oh no, ladies, not "a" bottom. "The" bottom who's got a serious hard on for monster cocks.
*Note to those who avoid books with childhood abuse: Kid's had it rough and some of the flashbacks are unpleasant.

Kinzer and Dedrus are the other MCs. They are former lovers who seemingly had a miscommunication. (translation: total and complete lack of communication) which led to their demise. Will they be able to rekindle their relationship?
description
Guess you'll have to read it.

All must cooperate if they have a chance at defeating the evil, sneaky as fuck Raze who have a super Kraken type monster with tentacles! Not the good sexy kind though, don't get too excited.

The ending made me feel a little…
description
Don't say I didn't warn you. BUT… a little bird told me another is planned.

Clipped is a little rough around the edges. It circles the drama llama block sometimes. The writing can be a little hokey at others. I think there are certain points that flipped too much between MCs POVs, probably better suited to film than fiction. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to the depraved. I would NOT recommend it for this cat…
description
Honey, run don't walk. RUN! My ass still hurts by proxy.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't thank Baby for recommending it even if it will lead to our eventual demise and irrevocably proves that I'm a weak-minded fool.

Good Versus Evil

Heaven & Hell

Pleasure & Pain

This book will take you on a journey and leave you begging for more... it's deviant, thrilling, erotic, twisted, and brings new meaning to masochist

When everything you think you know about Heaven & Hell is totally wrong. This story follows several different characters as they try to stop The Almighty from triggering the end of the world. There is a lot of action, a lot of sex, and multiple storylines going on. Questions are left unanswered and this is book one of a new series, so of course we now wait for book two.

Take a chance on this #Rogue work, you may find you enjoy something different!

4.5 Stars rounded up

ETA April 7th, 2014:

I have just finished the newly revised and extra word count version of Clipped and I must add a few things to my original impressions. This version has more backstory on several of the characters. I really liked that. Some words I found repetitive are now cut right down to make the book sharper and tighter. I also liked that. This version of Clipped is better for the revision and extra words because it retained the raw, gritty, erotic nature I originally enjoyed, it retained the outright joie de vivre of Devon McCormack’s writing but with more character development and tighter writing. The things that made it my Erotica Book of the Year for 2013 are not only still there, they are now improved on. And one more thing, the new cover is absolutely gorgeous.

Review at http://ontopdownunderbookreviews.com/...

Not M/M romance just for the record. A really interesting gay erotica book with some excellent yaoi overtones, paranormal beings, rough, raw sex, blood play, breath play and dominance. And HUGE, uh...swords. Yes...swords.

JOINT REVIEW FOR SINFULLY BY MONIQUE AND MACKY. (Warning...its long and huge cocks are mentioned...a lot! Lol. )

Monique: I read blurb… loved the sound of this book, read the warning and I was rubbing my hands in glee!

Warning: This title is erotic and contains homosexual content, graphic sex, violence, and strong language. Readers uncomfortable with rough sexual situations should not purchase this book.

Mentioned it to Macky and her words were…

Macky: Ooooh baby...come to mamma!!!

Monique: Oh Yes!!! ...and that was all before we were visually stimulated with the impressive vision of our physically perfect and oh so well-endowed immortals, Kinzer, Treycore, Dedrus and not forgetting the adorable mortal Kid.

Where the fuck do they make all those ginormous cocks?

Macky: **Giggles** The HUGE cocks....can we please tell everyone about those!!!

Monique: Get your mind out of those pink thongs and dangly bits! We are not talking about those HUGE cocks just yet because we will NEVER get to tell the readers just how absolutely fabulous this book is.

Now I know we have discussed this book at length on the phone prior to writing this review, but in all honesty I am still at a loss to try and explain to the readers exactly how extraordinary this book is and how much I loved it!

Macky: OMG! I know, our phone chats went into overdrive after we'd finished this didn't they? I was dying to discuss this with you straight away because I was so stoked! The funny thing was before I started, my first thoughts were that this was going to be very serious, full of high fantasy and deep religious overtones, which of course there was, but not in the way that I think anyone will be expecting. I had visions of gloriously winged, proud warrior angels in shining armour, battles in heaven, and lots of mystical dark stuff, with dungeons and tortured souls! Well colour me shocked and surprised because I was so wrong! What about you Monique?

Monique: Yes, me too, that is exactly where I thought Devon was going to take us and I was excited! What I wasn’t expecting was to be transported into a fantastical world of angels and demons, or higherlings and fallen as they are known in Clipped. Where the imagery and action reminded me of being right there in an episode of Supernatural, where yes, you get the dark and gruesome, but it’s also sprinkled with humour, at times with comedic performances from the characters that were totally three dimensional. It was a nonstop compelling read, where nothing is predictable! I don’t know about you Macky but I was so engrossed, time was of no consequence, I felt as though I had read a novel in ten minutes! ...and I did not want it to end.

Macky: Absolutely agree Monique. For me this was just as much a visual experience as a readable one, with pictures in my mind, as I read along, that were vibrant and outstanding and I'm not JUST thinking about a certain set of appendages! LOL. What I loved was how Devon drew us into his awesome world of angels and demons and religious shenanigans and made it such a delight to read. I mean this had some pretty dark, violent stuff going on and touched on some very distressing issues but dammit, I actually had fun as well, and I mean fun! Somehow he managed to take that darkness and, without trivialising it at all, added snort out loud humour that made that aspect of the book a lot easier to swallow. I laughed, gasped, cursed and my jaw dropped more times than I'd like to count. Like you I found myself totally riveted and captivated from beginning to end. I LOVED this book!

Monique: OMS! (Oh My Satan)… me too Macky! And… who knew God was a propaganda specialist with spin doctors who managed to convince his creation (Mankind, a gift to his former lover Satan) that the almighty was the paragon of all that is good and pure, and Satan (who loved and cherished his gift) wreaked havoc, death and destruction, being the epitome of evil. When in fact he was fighting to save his mortals from the pompous conceited… God, who in his infinite wisdom decided we were a blemish on his otherwise perfect creations… Oh and he wanted to hurt Satan for spurning his affections. He did get one thing right though Macky… those immortals have HUGE cocks!!!

Oh no… I just mentioned the cocks!?!

Macky: Holy lube free zone!!! The 20" 'Butt Clenchers'!!!!!! Excuse me while I do a bit of wincing at the memory of THOSE love poles! Hahahaha! Did I mention 'NO LUBE!!!

Monique: Hahaha…. are you sure you wouldn’t like to elaborate on that my friend?

Macky: Well, as you know we're talking a heck of a lot of dry pounding, I don't think the letters KY were present in any of their vocabularies, haha.... Am I a bit twisted or was it still hot as freakin' Hell! Scuse the pun... ;)

Monique: Or should that be hot as freakin Heaven?!? And if you’re twisted, I’m right behind you ‘cause I have no idea how all that dry fucking with cum dribbling arses could even be deemed erotic… but damn, those immortals are HOT!

Macky: Ahh yes… BUT...don't forget the sheer perfection of the guys who are doing the dry fucking! Abs to die for, perfect pecs, washboard stomachs, tight muscle cushioned bums you could bounce a penny off and of course those HUGE cocks! Damn, these demons are the personification of sex on legs, who wouldn't bend over and clench their teeth for a pummelling off these mighty fine specimens of sexual prowess! Although on second thoughts.......*GULP*

Monique: Hahaha… Macky… did you just mention cocks AGAIN???

Macky: Hee hee! I think you'll find it was HUGE cocks Monique...**snort**

Monique: I think we have established these men are extremely sexual beings, and are more than a little partial to painful, raw, dirty and rough sex. But, I think Devon McCormack who kind of exaggerates that part of it in an almost graphic novel kind of way, managed to perfectly weave together the raw sex with not only their sexual action but also the high adrenaline action of the bloody battles to save mankind. There is torture, rape, it’s a battle of power... good against evil. But what impressed me was how he managed to combine it all with such intense emotion… my heart broke for these men, who somehow seemed lost on this earth they were trying to save… with Kid in awe of it all as much as I was!

Macky: That's what fascinated and kept me compelled by the whole package Monique, because as much as the book is highly entertaining, there's still some very emotional threads running through that stopped it from going totally over the top into realms of ridiculousness. The first chapter introduces Kinzer, whose wings have been clipped; hence the title, by the Raze, a rogue faction of higherlings, whose allegiance is with the Almighty and whose sole intention is to destroy anyone whose allegiance is with The Leader (Satan). Kinzer is sold as a sex slave to Jerry, a sadistic slave Master, where he makes an immediate connection with Kid, a young mortal, who has been kept prisoner by Jerry ever since he was a young teen. I absolutely adored Kid, I found him such a loveable, cheeky character but at the same time he pulled every one of my heart strings because of the horrors he'd been through as a young child, the suffering he'd undergone as a defenceless teen whilst in the clutches of Jerry and the humiliation at the hands of the perverted clients who frequented the sex club. I know we both fell hard for Kid, Monique.

Monique: I had so many laugh out loud moments with Kid, Macky, I’m smiling now just thinking of him, yet at the same time he totally broke my heart… such an optimist yet, his life has been a tragic tale, abused, a life on the streets, selling his body to survive, he’s all mouthy and full of bravado but inside he’s just a kid with dreams of a future… there is so much sadness to him but at the same time he is strong and resilient. He wants to belong and trust in something, someone, and Kinzer rescuing him suddenly gave him a purpose in life.

Macky: Aww yes! I originally thought that Kinzer and Kid would be the love match but then he introduces us to pole dancing, glow in the dark neon thonged wearing stripper angels or higherlings, Dedrus and Treycore, who are lying low, undercover, at a strip club called Dick Dongs ...hahaha, how funny was that... and that notion went right out of the window! That's when we started to learn more about Kinzers troubled love life, which included Dedrus and another higherling called Janka, and also when Kid set eyes on the guy who would end up making our little sweetie not only salivate but scream when THAT HUGE cock got anywhere near his human sized pucker.

think we were obsessed with huge dicks Macky?

Macky: Obsessed! ...us ...with huge dicks...do you reckon the guys will think so??? LOL.

"There was that absurdly large, immortal cock again. Saliva flooded into Kid’s mouth. His ass loosened and quivered as he battled between taking the pleasure and fighting the incredible pain."

Macky: Hello my name is Macky and I'm a HUGE cock addict! I need help!!!!!!!!!

Monique: Haha… maybe we should ask Devon McCormack to pop in with Treycore and Kid… being in Treycore’s company you could actually have the opposite of aversion therapy…. where you can’t touch, or talk… or look!!! *Evil laugh* Because there is no way you could discreetly hide something that size in a pair of jeans?!?

Macky: Jeans??? ...I'm hoping he'll turn up in those Pink glow in the dark thongs!! Hahaha! Damn girl, you're distracting me again!

Monique: Talking of Treycore…. I don’t know about you, but I thought he was a total arse in the beginning… arrogant SOB that he was, with nothing but contempt for mortals… their weaknesses and imperfections… And apparently we stink?! Poor Kid, more so than most… as if he hasn’t already got an inferiority complex!

Macky: Yeah, he was a big dick (in more ways than one) to start with....

Monique: You just couldn’t help yourself could you???

Macky: Harrumph!!! I'm ignoring that comment .....where was I ..... Oh yeah.... but he’s wasn't as shallow as he seemed originally. I have a massive weakness for non PC type characters, the ones who you know you shouldn't love because they come over as complete pains in the arses, but who you know through circumstances and generally the love of someone good—in this case Kid—get redeemed and show that they're not all bad ass, arrogant and Dickish...I KNOW! I said the D word again, LOL... But seriously Monique, I fell in love watching him change over the course of the story, in fact he became my guilty pleasure and if I had to pick favourites then Treycore and our lovely Kid juuust step into the lead for me. This guy actually made me go all weepy at the end...why? Not telling, but it just goes to show that once again Devon McCormack managed to surprise the 'heaven' out of me with his ability to make the expected...so unexpected! I never predicted actual tears to arrive but Monique, YOU know that there are moments when he practically shocks those tears out of you!

He’d felt it ever since he’d met Kid at Dick Dongs. He could reason that this boy was just a horrid, flawed, foul-smelling mortal, but his sensations were consumed with him. The sound of Kid’s voice. His humble eyes, ever evasive. His timid smile. Treycore adored his boy so much that he hated him, and he hated himself for being incapable of controlling his desire, for being powerless against his want for a lowly, nothing of a mortal. And yet, he wanted this nothing of a mortal to be his everything.

Monique: I think that’s what I liked so much about this book Macky, I fell hard for all these characters, and cried ugly, my heart broke for them. But I also just have to mention Dedrus such a gentle soul who pulled on my heartstrings. He was so conflicted, Kinzer is the love of his life, he’s never been able to get over the intensity of the love he had for him. He wants him with every fibre of his being but his conscience is telling him it shouldn’t be at the expense of his dead friend Janka… Kinzers ex-lover. He wants it, but the guilt and his emotions are confusing. A constant push - pull of the only man he’s ever loved, he wants to be more to Kinzer, not a fuck that’s needed through grief, he wants his friend and lover back, but how can he erase what came between them. But the truth of what kept these two men apart and Kinzer’s own feelings towards Dedrus was a thread that kept me intrigued throughout this book.

Macky: Yes, that 'love triangle' style conflict was another meaty, emotional element that added depth to the story, two really stubborn guys with conflicting memories but once again you truly couldn't help getting caught up in their sizzilingly hot, but mixed up relationship. Mind you all is not what it seems in that camp either. And then we can't forget Maggie. What a character. Bitchy, sarcastic, acid and cutting. Bloody hard work but you've got to to love that poor woman! Imagine suddenly being flung into the middle of all that! Would you believe it? And what about the evil bastard bad guys! Four words Monique ...Veylo, Creatis, Mika, and VERA!!!!

Monique: Oooh, I loved Maggie! She’s so feisty, a real little firecracker of a character… and as for the villains, well, that’s true testament to the author’s writing, when you come away from a book wanting to do real physical harm and VERA is at the top of my shit list! However as we have said already Macky, Devon McCormack has most definitely more than impressed us with his writing and this fabulous story, taking us into the realms of fantasy in a contemporary setting that was emotional, incredibly exciting, action packed and kind of tongue in cheek in parts… for want of a better word… No, before you say it… it’s not cock in cheek!

Macky: ** THUD!!! Head desk**

Monique: LOL...Back to the review Macky....

Macky: Yes! I thought it was really clever how Devon gave us little tit bits of information as the story progressed, almost as if he was teasing us with little cliffy's at the end of each characters separate instalments to keep us from hitting any dips that invariably come along at some stage in most stories but that was never the case with this. I don't think I ever lost focus once while I was reading. And then when you get to THAT finish???

Monique: I never saw that ending! Totally shocked the pants off me.

Macky: Holy Dry Dongs! Tell me about it!

Monique: Is there anything we forgot to mention? Because bloody hell Macky! This is supposed to be a review, not a novella! I would like to blame it on you and your HUGE cock obsession! But the fault lays at Devon McCormack’s door… because he created a book that captivated us both.

Macky: Monique we could wax lyrical about this amazeballs book till the Apocalypse really happens but I guess we should wrap it up now. All I can say is that I had an absolute blast reading this. I need book two ASAP! Damn that ending was a doozy!

You know, so many horrible things happen to the good people in this world, I always sort of suspected God wasn't quite as benevolent as everybody says he is. Devon McCormack seemes to agree with me. In the world of CLIPPED, his extraordinary novel, God is the bad guy and Satan is the good. Even better than that, this is maybe one of the most erotic books I've ever read, yet there was also a very good plot behind all the sex. I enjoyed CLIPPED from page one all the way to the end. For a young writer, Devon McCormack has an amazing talent. He's very good at what he does. His writing was excellent. His action sequences perfectly executed. His characters well-drawn. The sex scenes really hot. I'd also like to say, the editing was excellent as well. Sometimes we take editing for granted, but I don't. Nothing can kill a good book quicker than bad editing. Anyway, nothing killed CLIPPED. It was terrific. For what it's worth, I liked the cover too. Job well done. Five stars.

I've never written a review before, though if any aspiring work deserves at least my effort, it's Clipped by Devon McCormack. Ladies and gentlemen, wish me luck as I hold on tight for this thrill ride...

...but to cheat a little bit, I will be using a comment I left on the author's blog and further expand on what was said.

I read the entire Clipped novel in one night, and at the end, I wanted more. In fact, by the third chapter, I made the decision that I would read this book from beginning to end as soon as possible. Now, this saddens me, for I wish I still had more of the unread book to devour, for it made just that much of an impact on me.

The beginning of Clipped reminded me of whenever I've snuck into a movie theater, trying to catch up on a film that is already a third way into duration. In other words, I had no idea what the hell was going on: all I knew was this guy named Kinzer, who was beautiful, immortal, and had a twelve inch penis. To be honest, I feel silly not using the alternate word to "penis", given the nature of this story, though I will do what I can to act as professional as possible. Again, wish me luck, fellow readers.

There is sex in the beginning chapters, and there is sex in every other chapter that follows, it seems. Mr. McCormack certainly doesn't spare explicit description, although I'll get to that in a moment.

Plot-wise, the reader gets to know the main character, Kinzer, just enough to hope that he gets out of his fix at Jerry's (and oh, how sweet was the end irony of that situation). During Kinzer's escape, another character named Kid tags along, establishing a friendship between the two. This bond between immortal and mortal eventually led to Kinzer becoming my favorite character of Clipped, for I was fond of his respect for humans, his heroism to save the world full of "stinking" mortals, and his passion for avenging his lover, Janka.

Soon after this mini-adventure of pimps, fallen angels, and whores, the reader finally learns what the hell is going on: we learn what /really/ went down between God and Lucifer, how the world /really/ came to be, and how "Christ" is analogous to "damnation" while "Anti-Christ" is analogous to "salvation". For those who are high strung on traditional Christian views, I do not recommend this story, unless you can respect fiction for being what it is - fiction.

Afterward, the plot grows more complicated. We encounter other characters, such as Dedrus, Treycore, and Maggie (oh, Maggie)--the good guys--as well as Vera, Mike, Craetis, and Veylo--the bad guys. Again, the people who should be "good" in an alternate universe are "bad", and vice versa, which makes the conflict among angels impossible to miss for even a moment. There is action, some backstory, and swords. Yes, Kazza K had it right. "Swords".

The relationships are..."consuming", as I told the author. They are not the typical "roses and candlelight" kind of couplings, though they are still passionate as they are loving; they just walk along that fine line between love and hate and unity and struggle. Certain erotic elements (such as blood play, asphyxiation, and penis-galore) are amplified to a level that I wouldn't recommend the faint of heart to even attempt to handle; however, if the audience can understand how a little pain can make worth the pleasure, I say they'll find themselves more than satisfied when reading McCormack's slashy goodness.

With each passing chapter, Clipped doesn't fall from its peak. It just keeps going higher and higher, until it's nearly hard to breathe; then, the climax lets the reader plummet into an oblivion of plot twists and devastation (good or bad, I'll leave it to the future readers to decide). In the end, I found myself sympathizing with some of the characters and wishing that it was possible for an immortal to actually be happy.

Moreover, I am even more captivated by Clipped with what its author had invested into creating it: McCormack's own personal relations to the characters, his passion, and his fears. I was able to feel it all, even if I didn't know it at that time and even if I still do not know the source of it; in each word, laced is there a piece of the author's heart.

As I like to say, there is no such thing as a "perfect book" -- just how "perfect" it is to the reader. And isn't that what matters most, what Clipped said or did for each of us as individuals? How we aspire for love or adventure, or maybe remember a time when we were hurt and wanted revenge -- or just those moments when we had a carnal need that we stopped at nothing to satisfy?

Overall, I found Clipped to be a wonderful read and plan to read it again soon. Eagerly do I await its sequel, Bound, which has been confirmed by the author to currently be in the works.

::::update::: After sleeping on it, I think I'm moving this up a star...because I couldn't stop thinking about it last night, and it's rare to have a book stick with you long after it's done. I did really enjoy it, and it had me laughing out loud (yes I remember the knife rape, don't judge me) once you got past that, it was funny. Plus, as pissed as I was at the ending...the author had to have balls to end it that way.::::Update over

I really don't know what to say, there are so many conflicting thoughts.

This was kinda a hot mess...but at the same time like crack...I couldn't stop.
This was a F ton of DRY, bloody, painful just to read...yet strangely arousing sex.

Characters didn't have a lot of depth to them, yet at some point, you start to root for them.

So, at 90% I'm thinking as messed up as this thing was, I'm gonna rate it high, because it was addicting and entertaining...but then the end!!!! THE END!!! WTF you mean, THE END?

NO THE END!!! NEED SEQUEL NOW NOW NOW!

I haven't read anything really like this before but I would like to read more. I'd like to see what happens with Kid and Treycore now. And Kinzer too because things have occurred to shock him and shake him up.

This book has the good and the bad pretty much mixed up and I liked that. There's plenty of action and that kept me going. I can't always read a book quickly but I didn't feel lost it was easy to pick it back up and remember where I was at. I was sucked into it. More sex than I've read before but I liked that too. I'm hoping there's another book.

This book comes with a warning which should definitely be heeded, the sexual situations in this book are very graphic and very violent. Too brutal for my tastes which dropped my rating down a notch.

I loved the premise, the world building, the characters, the writing and will probably try more books by this author, just not in this particular series.

I'm going to state right off that this book is not a romance. Well, not a typical one anyway. If you're looking for a sweet and sappy romance, you won't find that here. This is hardcore erotica with everything you can imagine from rough sex with 20-inch penises (without prep) to blood and breath play. There is a nice story going on in the middle of it all, but if you're bothered (and not in a good way) over violent sexual situations, do the author a favor and read another book.

I'm not sure how I'll be able to explain Clipped where it will make sense to other readers. I'll do my best to without giving anything away, because I swear to you had anyone spoiled a couple of things in this book for me, I would be furious. If you read this, have the same courtesy. Either leave spoilers out of your review, or use spoiler tags. If you don't know how to use them, send me a message.

The blurb tells the gist of the book, and it explains it well, so I won't be going into a lot of detail in regards to what is listed there.

Kinzer wakes up bound and with his wings clipped. It doesn't take long for him to discover that he is being held by Jerry, a man who hires his captives men out for sex.

”... You cost me a pretty penny, but not too shabby for that cock.”

”I'm not a humorous man, Kinzer. Just straight-forward. So I want to be clear. As long as you're here, I control your fate. I control how you're used, how you are abused. I control how much fucking you can handle. I control how good of a shape you're in.”

The men who pay Jerry are brutal. We're not talking a quick blowjob here and there. We're talking violent and down and dirty.

Kinzer unknowingly breaks one of Jerry's rules in the weight room by speaking to Kid. Of course, they are both punished for it, even if it wasn't Kid's fault. The punishment ultimately leads to them being able to escape, but they have to fight like hell to make it happen.

Double chin allowed the tip of the knife to navigate inside Kid's ass.

Emaciated and Splotchy Hair were too busy fondling him while Double Chin slipped the knife farther in.

Before I go any further, I have to say that I fell in love with Kid instantly. The events that led up to him being one of Jerry's boys is not a pretty one. While the abuse he suffered isn't exactly described in detail, it is there and it is disturbing. It broke my heart on so many levels.

”Come over here, Willy.”

Kid shook his head. He wanted to sneak back in his room and disappear, but he knew what would happen if he didn't comply. He'd resisted too many times only to wind up with a more severe pain than his submission would receive.

Kinzer and Kid manage to escape Jerry and his men, and make their way to try to find someone to help them. Kinzer and his lover, Janka, were ratted out to the Raze when it was revealed that Janka and Kinzer were spying against them. Janka was killed and Kinzer was removed of all of his immortal powers by having his wings clipped. Without the powers it will be difficult, if not impossible, to find those who tipped off the enemy and sold him to Jerry. Kinzer must not only find the mole, but those on his side before they are caught as well. He also feels he must protect Kid at all costs.

Janka and Kinzer were responsible for collecting intel and reporting progress on the Almighty's planned apocalypse.

All that had gone horribly awry.

Someone ratted us out, Kinzer thought.

Kinzer and Kid make their way to a strip club, appropriately called Dick Dongs (I totally loved that). There, they see Dedrus and Treycore, each of which uses stripping as their cover.

The pink-thonged stripper grabbed the pole and swayed his torso—embedded with a deep vee, a seeming invitation to savor his package, which was so enormous that it was dangling out of the far-too-small thong. Kid was sure it had to have been two feet long.

Dedrus and Treycore know that helping Kinzer and Kid could ultimately bring the enemy down on them. This is proven in more ways than one as the story plays out.

Then there is Maggie, a pregnant woman. Maggie has been abducted by Dedrus and Treycore for reasons you will have to read the book to find out. I got the biggest kick out of Maggie and I totally shouldn't have. She's quite possibly one of the most unlikable characters you'll ever see in a book, but damn, she cracked me up a few times. As much as I hate to admit it, there's one part with Maggie toward the end that had me relating to the crazy woman.

”Pain...killers!

“I don't know why you're laughing. Get the fuck out of here and don't come back without them. And I'm talking the good stuff. You bring back some Advil or Tylenol, and I'll make you wish you weren't immortal.”

Then there is the sex. This is not the run of the mill sex you will find in most books and I put the warning at the top of this review for a reason.

... right then, all he wanted was for Kinzer to make him bleed.

Kid thought his insides would explode, and yet, it left him wishing it were even more painful.

He felt as if someone was jamming a knife inside him.
It was painful, but erotic. The more it hurt, the harder he became.

It was like a butcher knife reaching for his intestines.

With each thrust he offered, Dedrus eagerly pushed back, encouraging Kinzer to destroy his hole.

He wanted it to hurt more. He wanted the pain to be so intense that it made him forget about Janka and his selfishness altogether. But it only aroused him even more, amplifying his awareness of his sins.

***

He would lick and suck until his gums bled. He would let Treycore slap him around, spit on him, abuse him. It was a small price to pay for the pleasure he would experience just by feeling that body against his.
- Kid

There's obviously more to Clipped than the sex and the violence but they (usually combined) take up a lot of this story and it's hot as hell. That is, if you don't mind the blood and pain.

Kinzer and Dedrus have a past. This past rears its ugly head when the two are together. There is much more I want to say about them but I'm not going to. I know if I do, I will end up saying something spoilerish.

There are Treycore and Kid. God, I loved these two. They end up (as a result of the enemy) separated from Kinzer, Dedrus and Maggie, and what happens between them will have you turning the pages quickly to see what will be happening next. There's blood and breath play, among other things, that will either have you totally into it, or cringing. The author wrote those scenes well.

There are a host of bad guys who are determined to not only destroy Kinzer, Dedrus, Treycore, and Kid, but to abduct Maggie and her unborn child. The fate of the world literally depends on keeping Maggie away from these people.

Then there are the religious aspects of this book. Thankfully, while the story is the complete opposite of what I have grown up believing, the author wrote it in such a way where I never got offended by it.

There's much more I could say about Clipped, but I won't. I will say that I loved every single page of this book. I loved all the characters (even the bad ones). The sex (blood and all) was seriously some of the hottest erotica I've ever read. I love the way the author took such a unique subject and sucked me in. I laughed quite a bit. I cursed Devon McCormack more than a few times. I even got a lot teary in a couple of places. But in the end, I am very glad I read this book. There are a couple of twists and turns at the end that blew me away. I did not see them coming. Had I not loved the book before, that would have sealed it for me. Brilliant.

I look forward to reading more about these characters, as a lot is still left to be resolved. I will eagerly await Treycore and Kid's story and will be devouring it as soon as it's released.

If you like books where the sex is hard, violent and frequent, you will love this book. The actual story (outside of the sexual situations) is outstanding. I can't recommend this enough.

In all honesty, I would have preferred to DNF this book, but because I had requested it...

Warning: This book, and consequently this review, deals with issues of rape, dubious consent, and graphic violence. If you do not wish to read about such subjects, it is probably best that you give this review (and probably this book) as miss. Thanks.

This book is about the fallen (demon) Kinzer, and his friends, as they struggle to warn the other Fallen about the Raze (the Almighty’s ground force, I guess) and their attempts to wipe out the Fallen and jumpstart Armageddon. Kid (a human that Kinzer rescues from whore house) gets pulled into the immortal mess, as well as Maggie, who may or may not be carrying the Antichrist (who is apparently a good guy). Faced with the death of his lover, and the danger to his brothers-in-arms, Kinzer can only hope that they are in time to save not only Hell but humanity as well.

Ok…wow…to say that I did not enjoy this book would be an understatement. It was like a bad action movie mixed with an even worse porno, with only briefs moments of lucidity. The characters were two-dimensional (and that is being generous) and the plot consisted of highly-unlikely scenarios brought on by the stupidity of just about every character.

I did not connect with anyone in this book, with the exception of Maggie in that brief moment when she was talking about her past church–and that was over in a page and a half. Kinzar hardly acts like he just witnessed the death of the love of his life. Kid simply seems to exist to have sex, Treycore to be an asshole, and Dedrus to act like a 13 year old girl who just found out that no, Justin Bieber is not going to marry her. In fact, for a bunch of immortals, they all seem to act like teenagers. I’m guessing that if you have been around since before the foundation of the world, and spent a vast portion of that as soldiers in an ongoing war, you would know that it might be wise to keep it in your pants until you were out of immediate danger–or at least until you had some goddamn lube.

And god save me, the sex in this book–-which was quite substantial since what wasn’t action sequences was basically free-for-all fucking–-was at best nauseating. Like, I was actually worried I was going to throw up. Dub-con, non-con, and rape can be used effectively in a story. It can make the story better. It can also make your reader want to tear out their eyes and throw them across the room. I’ll give you three guesses which of those this book was. Almost every action of sex in this book was at best of dubious consent, if not outright rape. There are multiple instances of a character screaming “No!” or “Stop!” and trying to crawl away from the other dude, only to have them pin them back down and penetrate them again. And had this violence been portrayed in just about any other light than porn, I think I might have handled it. But dear god, rape is not sexy.

Though, even if I could get past the non-consent of participants, the fucking unbelievability of the sexual acts itself was just ridiculous. Ok…I am pretty sure no one want to get fucked by a twenty-inch penis, especially one so thick you can’t get your hands around it. And even if you enjoyed the fuck out of it, you do not just jump up after it is done and go on a day-long hike. And you do not, hours later, decide to do it all again, even though you are literally bleeding even before the penetration begins. And you sure as hell don’t want to do it without at least a truckful of lube. And spitting into your hand once is not enough fucking lube for a normal penis, let alone the two-by-four you plan on shoving up someone else’s ass.

And, for Christ’s sake, after having a knife shoved up your ass you do not just go and buy waffles without even bothering to see to the injury.

Not to mention that whole scene where we got to see the molestation of Kid when he was a child, in flashback.

Oh look…there are those nauseous feelings again. How lovely.

It didn’t help that the plot of this book was just too damn ridiculous. The villains were over the top, the good guys were prone to idiotic decisions, and no one, fucking no one was acting their age. I may, I admit, have an issue with immortal beings acting like oversexed teens all the time. I think if you go through the hassle of creating someone that old, you should at least make them feel like it.

And the “twists” at the end…. One, if you want us to care about a character death, if it probably best to have made the character worth missing, at some point leading up to that death. And two, for the love of all things entertaining, throwing in a soap-opera spin at the last moment did not make me want to read book two in this series (if there ever is one) it just pissed me off because I just read 150+ pages of horribly written porn/action sequences, and the least, and I do mean the very least, you can do is give me some fucking closer.

I do not normally give such low ratings on books. But this one I could not stomach. Maybe someone, somewhere finds this kind of thing thrilling/titillating, but that is not, nor will it ever be, me.

"Warning: This title is erotic and contains homosexual content, graphic sex, violence, and strong language. Readers uncomfortable with rough sexual situations should not purchase this book."

Duly warned. *rubs hands in sadistic glee* Bring It!

I must start off with my reactions to the sex scenes in this book. I cringed, I winced, there were "Ooouuuch!!" exclamations while crossing my legs and clenching my butt cheeks in sympathy. There was also some eye-rolling and I laughed when I'm sure I wasn't supposed to...and that was through the very first sex scene.

As for the characters, I didn't like any of them. There must be more of their story coming with that ending, but I have zero curiosity. Don't care about them.

I found the part of the story with the war between Heaven and Hell different enough to be interesting even if it didn't always make complete sense to me. But I wanted and was expecting quackery right off the bat, so it was fine. I enjoyed the action/fight scenes the most and there were a couple of twists I didn't see coming. They had me on the edge of my seat holding tight to my popcorn. It was enough to make me stick with it until the end but a barely OK overall experience for me on this one.

I was lured in by the cover. I read the blurb several times and was hemming and hawing if I wanted to read Clipped. It had an interesting premise. God is actually the bad guy and wants to destroy the world. And not in the biblical let it rain 40 days and we can start over again. More like BAM! No more humans. So that makes Satan the good guy wanting to save the world. I feel like Alice trying to understand Wonderland. Up is down. Black is white. Good is actually evil. Demons fight angels to save the world. The appeal to read this book really started to grow on me but was sold me was the cover.

So, there are several players in this story which the center figure is Kinzer. However, I could help but feel all the good guys, Kid, Treycore and Dedrus, should be classified as just secondary characters. They all play too much of an integral part to the plot line. However, I am fine throwing all the bad guys in that secondary bucket. As the story unfolds we begin to have a better understanding of all the characters. Bitter betrayals have shaped many of their actions causing and of course no one trust each other. Kid’s life started out brutal and doesn’t seem to get any better. Yet there are moments in the book that you can see they all still have a chance of happiness – moments where they all can find love if they can all just survive. Of course what would a story be about the bad guys and you…they are very bad! Sadistically bad!

All this is building up to an epic battle. I am RIVETTED. I can’t put this book down. I have pretty much devoured it in one sitting. Which side will prevail? Will anyone die? All this build-up. Maggie has the baby and it’s a…!!! And that’s when I notice I’m at 95%. There’s still way too much that needs to happen and not enough book left to cover it all. DAMN! *Slams head on desk* This is a bloody series and if not a series it has to have a sequel. Ugh, how did I not know this?! Waiting for the next book when I’m left hanging so high is not my forte. Please Mr. McCormack, let the next book come out soon. I don’t know how long I will be able to wait.

I feel the need to hit upon the sex in Clipped. There is lots and lots of M/M sex, as to be expected since this is a M/M erotic read. the beginning, it is brutal and not consensual. Kinzer is sold off to be a sex slave (which is where he meets Kid). So obviously no on there is a will slave. Eventually, they do escape and on their merry travels there are other players where (of course) hot male sex is involved. Sometimes it seems like “Hi my name is (___)” and bam they start humping away. Let’s keep in mind they are rushing to save the world. They don’t have the time for formalities like getting to know each other. That said can I just say could someone give these guys a tube of lube PLEASE??!!! It just got to be too much how all these men were into lubeless sex. I understand some people are into pain but seriously, how can they have any skin left much less walk afterwards. Okay. I’m done on the subject.

Mr. McCormack has actually written a very interesting book here. In its essence, this is a M/M erotic story. However, with all the God/Satan, good/evil aspects I can see the serious religious fanatics up in arms. However, I for one can have no issue. Clipper is one fantastic book. I do recommend, and already have, reading this book.

I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

New to this author, I approached this book with no expectations and came away pleasantly surprised. The author's style of storytelling presents a series of fluid scenes that feel very cinematic. Not as much in a big screen sort of cinematic way, but more like an HBO series. An expansive, eclectic cast of supernatural characters are fleshed out masterfully, not with massive info-dumps but through shown revelations woven into the story itself. Told in multiple points of view, the story clips along rapidly, paced perfectly. At one point I suddenly realized I'd completed 85% of the book, and it was two hours past bedtime. That's exactly the level of engagement and personal investment I look for a story to evoke.

Readers often complain about dialogue not being realistic, and I have to say that most of the time I question whether it's realism they're really looking for. Good dialogue in a fictional story is punchy. It's engaging and funny, and it's laced with quick-witted sarcasm and snappy come-backs. I don't experience a lot of that sort of dialogue in real life. I experience stammering, unfinished sentences, interruptions. But entertaining fictional dialogue represents the things we all wish we were quick enough to think of in real life situations. And this author seems to have mastered this talent. And speaking of the cinematic feel of the story, this factor greatly contributed to that particular effect.

The story contains mystery, intrigue, lots of surprises. And the preternatural creatures, immortals, were cleverly and creatively fashioned in such a unique way that I didn't feel they'd been borrowed or copied from other fantasy stories. I found it most interesting that the supernatural realm seemed to be like a carbon copy - the photographic negative - of how we traditionally view the supernatural. Good is evil; evil is good. It's kind of a mind bender, and perhaps some might squirm a bit if their sensibilities are offended by blasphemy. But for me, it felt refreshing and delightfully naughty.

I have to separate the sex scenes from the stylistic aspects of the story and the truly entertaining plot. And normally I wouldn't be able to do this so easily, but this particular story is so well executed that I can honestly see an R-rated screenplay version of it in my mind's eye. The sex, regardless of what one might think of it (good or bad), is dispensable. However, there's no denying that the story does contain plenty of extremely graphic sex, and so I'd be remiss if I didn't comment. This is perhaps the only tiny bit of criticism I have with the story. Almost all the scenes involved very rough anal sex where no lubrication is used. It seemed the author was slightly obsessed with the fantasy of screwing so hard that it destroys the bottom's asshole. Not my thing, so I was kind of grossed out.

I get the power play... and I thrilled at the Dom/sub dynamic that was portrayed. My heart ached for the sympathetic characters (especially Kid). And I loved how flawed every one of the angelic beings were. The story ends with only partial resolution, sort of a cliffhanger, and I'm dying for the next installment.

Really, I wish every book I picked up compelled me to keep turning pages the way this one did. A fantastic story, and I want more, more, more.

This was really good, a little over the top with the amount of graphic sex in great detail, but the story was interesting, the writing was good and the main characters were strong. I don't think it's everyone's cup of tea though and I don't usually buy explicit books. Not because I'm a prude but it can just become overbearing. Clipped almost crossed that line for me but managed to not push me too far.

This is one I won through first reads that being said I immensely enjoyed the book full of fallen angels and angel where lucifer is a champion for humans and the almighty wants to destroy the earth. the juxtaposition makes for some interesting hero/anti hero characterization, including the anti-christ who is actually the christ child. the sex scenes are hot and rough. My main problem with it is the over emphasis on phallic size. the main character is a fallen angel whose wing are not only clipped but chopped of so h ehas less of his power. there is a lot of betrayal and backstabbing and you never are sure who is on which side. complex and entertaining, defintely not a light read but nevertheless an enjoyable read.

My experience of reading Clipped was like a ride on a high-speed train, but rather than ending up at my chosen destination, I was left in the middle of nowhere and looking for someone to help!
Clipped is hugely different than Hideous, the previous novel I have read by Devon McCormack, but then it is aimed at an adult audience and deals with a meatier subject matter. Initially, it appears that Devon McCormack is entering into a good vs evil debate; the Almighty vs the Leader; Fallen against Favoured; Christ and the AntiChrist. However, this is just a small part of what is a complex story dealing with love, betrayal, loss of identity and sex.
There is definitely no escaping the amount of sex in Clipped, but Devon McCormack seamlessly merges this with the plot so that these intense scenes have meaning to both the characters and the story as a whole. The immortal characters, Kinzer, Dedrus and Treycore, express themselves through sex, whether it is a violent or sensual experience and Kid, the mortal, has been abused and used as a sex slave, believing that it is the only thing he is good at. Admittedly not all of these scenes between the respective pairs are easy for the reader. Devon McCormack ensures that we experience both the physical and mental pain of the characters, often accessing their most private thoughts and feelings.
One of the reasons Clipped works so well is because, alongside this element of erotica, Devon McCormack allows us to understand the very human emotions of his immortal creations. Kinzer is dealing with his grief at losing his partner and confusion on meeting his ex, Dedrus. Treycore attempts to disguise his affection for Kid with anger, whilst Dedrus just wants to love and this be reciprocated. When the author introduces the Raze, we also see jealousy, anger and vengeance being exhibited.
Then there is fear, but this is felt by the reader during the several times the lives of our favorite characters are threatened. Devon McCormack reveals how truly evil Vera and her minions are and this culminates in the final chapters of the story, particularly in their torture of Kid. Here my tears mixed with gasps of horror and shouts of anger, towards the Raze and Devon McCormack for not giving me the ending I wanted! I am now left floundering, waiting impatiently for Bound's release.
Clipped is a book I would recommend to anyone who is not easily shocked, the author's warning is there for a reason! But beyond this the story is addictive, especially because of the way the author is able to engage his reader, despite the swift pace of his writing. I hope there are readers of this review, willing to take to take a chance on Clipped.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

3.75 Stars

This is quite unlike anything I have previously read. God is bad. Satan is good. God, the Almighty, is trying to destroy earth. Satan, the Leader, is trying to save earth.
There are demons, angels, swords, daggers, kidnapped pregnant women and so many characters that sometimes I struggled to keep up with who was who. There is also a lot of sex, a huge amount of sex, but more about that later.
Ok, this is not a romance book in any shape or form. This is a battle to save humankind but with role reversal. Angels and Demons are walking amongst us, one group are trying to save us and the other is trying to destroy us. In between they may meet up with each other and have some pretty epic sword fights.
Demon Kinzer works alongside his lover Jenza, for the leader. When someone betrays them Jenza is killed and Kinzer is sold to as a Sex slave and has his wings clipped. When he finally escapes it becomes clear that the betrayal within their ranks runs deep and many have been captured or killed.
Aside from the battles and trying to work out who is good, who is bad, and who is playing both sides as I mentioned before there is a lot of sex. Demons have huge cocks! Like 20 inch cocks! Sex between themselves is difficult enough but with a human it involves pain and blood. There is underwater breath play....that was definitely a first for me!
The other interesting relationship to develop is between Treycore and Kid. Treycore is a badass demon who seems to despise humans but cannot stay away from Kid. Their story would make an interesting sequel.
If you are not squeamish and like a lot of rough with your sex this is the book for you! It is fast paced, completely opposite to everything we were taught and ends with one hell of a cliff-hanger. It is also short on HEA’s!

Beautifully twisted

As there's a shiny new cover I figured it was time for a re-read and an actual review this time round.

This is one of my favourites of all Devon's books because it makes you think. Yes there's the usual amount of insane sex (someone give them some lube please ;) ) but it's not what's driving the narrative.

This isn't a love story, although there is definitely love in it, but a "what if?" What if the Devil wasn't the bad guy but instead he'd left his Almighty lover because he was a cruel tyrant incapable of allowing free will? What if God was the one you should be worried about and he was planning the Armageddon himself?

In Clipped, angels and demons are real but they go by different names and everyone is searching for the Christ child who is going to destroy the world.

This book is a headrush which invites you to challenge all Christian traditions and treat them as only one possible side to the story and I love it.

Subversive, sexy, scary, sacrilegious, scandalous and a whole load of other words beginning with s like seductive and sadistic, don't look for hearts and flowers here.

Where to start with this review???? I mean this book was almost 5 stars...The plot and story characters were wicked!!! I mean Angels and Angels and more Angels. Good vs. Evil. All that stuff and more. Passionate and Feelings are so involved in this read. The feelings are thrown out at you in forms of letters!!! The fight between everyone for the Christ and the Anti Christ. I did get a little confused about, but no less was I impressed with the whole breakdown of this story. For Kid life has sucked and has not gotten better with time. To come across an immortal Kinser and be freed of a hell that he never thought he could be. This book was really good. Trey and Kidd are something that I am waiting to read!! Hope there is a sequel and soon. Betrayal is something that is hard to live with as a mortal and can't imagine for an immortal!!! The twists in this boom are wicked good and so worth the read!!!

I received this ARC from the author via Net Galley for my honest review. Thanks NetGalley!!!

This book certainly has a way of keeping the reader gripped throughout its entirety.
Not only is the plotting a concept I have never encountered before, but the characters have a way of latching onto you and never letting go. As you read, you begin to care about what happens to them, especially our lead protagonist, Kinzer (Does he finally avenge The death of Janka? Do they prevent the apocalypse? Etc.)
The concept of good vs evil is a heavy factor throughout this book. Here we see that God is the true evil whilst Satan is attempting to prevent the earth's destruction by using the antichrist. This is a definite talking point in the plotline that will have readers debating for hours after reading.
Perfection is also another topic that appears heavily in the plot, shown particularly well in the more erotic scenes.
The writing style allows the reader to smoothly traverse the world without becoming lost and confused. You start to read and before you know it, you're half way through.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read more from this author. 5 out of 5 stars!

This was wonderfully different & unexpected.
Such a magnificent spin on angels.
Granted - some are going to take offense- my attitude is more ambiguous
Some of the sex scenes were bit rough for me - but to each his own
I enjoyed this book immensely & look forward to NEXT installment
I GOTTA know what happens NEXT!!!!!

Oh my God! Just finished this book on my flight and although I am not a quick reader I couldn’t put this one down. I don’t think I have ever read sex scenes quite this hot! All I have to say is thank goodness there was a blanket over my lap. Really hoping there is a sequel for Kid and Treycore!!!
