Fascinating memoir of a young British soldier in WW2 posted to France from Luton. When his unit is rounded up, he escapes and makes his way back to England. His journey is so filled with unexpected happenings good and bad that it could seem fiction sometimes. Engaging and quick to read through.
Highly recommend both for fans of memoirs and WW2 history, and for everyone with an interest in inspiring stories of courage and resourcefulness.
