This was your typical Harlequin fake fiancée trope with two MCs who have known each other for a few years now and who enter into a fake relationship - until emotions no longer seem fake.

Prince Raul Abarra of Vesovia has a problem. His sister got mixed up with a married man and is causing a major scandal so his Dad, the King, wants him to cause a distraction so that the press can stop the gossip with his sister. This leads Raul to seek the help of his sister’s BFF, Sofia, by having her agree to pause as his fake fiancée in exchange of him helping her with her business which she is struggling with.

There is nothing different here about this story that one hasn’t read before but there was something missing for me between the MCs. I guess I wanted more sparks & fire between them and less misunderstanding, however, it is still a good way to pass some time.

ARC provided by NetGalley and Harlequin in exchange for a honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a contemporary romance featuring Prince Raul of Vesovia, who convinces his sister’s best friend, Sofia, to pose as his fiancée to divert media attention from a royal scandal. As they embark on a Canadian crown tour, their once-platonic relationship grows complicated by unexpected emotions.

While the novel follows familiar romance tropes like fake engagement and friends-to-lovers, Singh adds depth through themes of personal sacrifice and royal duty. Readers who enjoy lighthearted romance with a touch of royal intrigue will find this an engaging read, though the storyline remains fairly predictable. Overall, it’s a charming and heartfelt novel perfect for contemporary romance fans.
