James Gottesman M.D. is a Urological Oncologist who has been writing most of his adult life - although not fiction until he retired. He has authored more that a 100 scientific papers, medical book chapters, research grants, operative consent forms, and computer programs written in BASIC and HTML.
After hanging up his scalpels in 2011, 'The Road Back Isn't Straight' was his first foray into fiction (2012). The positive feedback propelled him to write a second book, 'The Search of Grace' in 2014. 'Can't Forget,' in 2016, 'Stab Wound,' 2018 , 'An Enemy to Love in 2021, 'In Flew Enza' in 2022 and 'The Angel of North Africa' in 2024.
Dr. Gottesman graduated from UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco Medical Center and did his surgery residency at UCSF and his Urology residency at UCLA. He was Assistant Professor of Urology at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. He moved to Seattle in the 70s and served as Chairman of Urology of Swedish Medical Center and Clinical Professor of Urology at the University of Washington.
He spends half the year on Mercer Island (WA) and the other half in Palm Desert (CA) with his wife. Gloria, and dog, Biscuit. You'll have to figure for yourself which half-year is in Washington State and which half is in the California desert. He plays golf and has travelled much of the world.
