A hockey player with his eyes on the goal and a small town librarian trying to find her way are united by a secret crush and a second chance. Sam's had his eye on Mollie since junior high and with her new figure skating hobby, it's just the opening he needs. Together, they will lace up and slide into love, facing every obstacle head on.
Slippery Business is a sweet, contemporary, standalone, small town, hockey romance.
This review contains spoilers. This is a closed door romance for those wondering. The MMC goes after what he wants quite assuredly however I found there was more chemistry between the fmc and his best friend. There wasn't a whole lot of character development and I seriously question how college students can afford to hire body guards, pay for training camps, and flights at the drop of a hat. Still mad that I don't have an explanation for one of the "puck bunnies" beating the crap out of the fmc, breaking her leg, then into her house and don't get me started on the fmc not pressing charges.

I love Catherine Banks as a writer. She can do romance well... from open door, to reverse harem, to closed door romance. Absolutely love her. When I saw she had written a hockey romance, and it was a SYKD, I had to grab it up. I am so glad I did.
Loved the premise. Loved the plot twists. Loved how she tied it up in the end. I only wish I could have seen how they ended up 10 years later, too.
Would I recommend this? Yes, if you like closed door romance, this would be one I would suggest.
The plot and the characters are great, but the writing is painful. It reads like a middle schooler wrote it. There are countless spelling errors and lots of repetition. There are multiple points where pieces of the story contradict themselves throughout the book and the lack of description and detail is impressive.
If you want an easy read, this is the book. It was very quick, but did feel a little predictable. The love story started very quickly..like you knew how it was going to end by chapter 3. Still a great love story!
2.5/5 stars. Easy and predictable read. Some plot points I wish they expanded on but they just brushed over. Was still good enough to read all the way through though!
This book was such a cute little romance. If you’re looking for an easy Romance read I recommend this one(but they basically got together the first three chapters)
Rating: ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ • Slippery Business offers a promising premise but fails to deliver a compelling romance. The lack of character development, slow pacing, and underwhelming writing style contribute to a lackluster reading experience. For readers seeking a heartfelt and engaging small-town romance, this book may not meet expectations.
