I cannot remember what motivated me to pick up this book, and I am so glad that I did.

One could say this is a how to book full of some tips and tricks though there are 100+ Flax facts / Flaxisms so that's a ton of how to, and given his long career, its unsurprising he has so many.

The truisms in the Flaxisms are amazing, I would have only wished that I had known of these decades ago! I surely will incorporate them into my training and coaching of others.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised, nothing hugely groundbreaking here, but I definitely picked up a few things I hadn’t heard before by reading this book. I’d say it’s worth a read.

I read about 75% of the book before I had to stop reading it. Very disappointed in most of the conclusions and false title. “How to Win the Game of Life” should be renamed “How to Sell Yourself and get Promoted”, or “How to Sell Anything to Anyone”.

I would agree on some of his points but the under lying premise is the purpose of life is to make more money and climb the corporate ladder. I disagree. If you ask anyone who has done it what they regret most about their lives it is the pursue of these false goals. The game of life is to be happy and we all know money, respect from others, and a corporate title never can bring us happiness.

Still, because the book does not resonate with me, it doesn’t mean others wouldn’t want to get ahead in business by selling themselves and if that brings them happiness, good for them. All I can say is this was a terrible fit for me.

I won this book from a giveaway hosted here on Goodreads! So, shout out to Blackstone Publishing for hosting that giveaway and picking me!

Also, I wanted to post this review sooner, but life happened.

I found this book to be extremely helpful, and I loved the Flaxseed advice bullet points. Honestly, I found it super helpful for professional development. It wasn't groundbreaking, but it was good for a review.
