Want to drop from 18.9 percent to 10.2 percent body fat in 14 days?
Forget calories in and out—a toxic colonial construct that’s faker than math and triangles.
Timed doses of handstands, bishop’s cap cactus needles, and Sitali breathing exercises do just the trick.
Want to extend the muscle-building effects of whey protein powder?
Just do what your hunter-gatherer ancestors did to bulk up fast—add some sprouted galangal root to your grass-fed whey protein shakes.
Want to indulge in weekly guilt-free carb orgies?
You just need to train your body to convert excess glucose into muscle-pumping glycogen rather than waist-expanding belly fat.
And we can thank Nazi scientists recruited by the US government in Operation Paperclip for a little-known method of doing just eating raw German red garlic one hour before the binge. Cloves and cloves of raw German red garlic. The more the better, my unfabricated data suggests.
So . . . yeah. None of that actually works.
But it gives you an idea of what you won’t find in this
Page after page of quasiscientific gibberish and pretense geared toward peculiarity and persuasion rather than practicality and performance.
Instead, this book contains a few
Simple, evidence-based, tried and tested diet, exercise, and supplementation techniques that’ll help you achieve your health and fitness goals faster, including improving your body composition, reducing the risk of disease and dysfunction, slowing aging, and more.Motivational musings that I hope will inspire you to wallow in fewer “cheat days,” skip fewer workouts, and generally stay out of your own way.Zany meanderings that I hope will earn your smile because, as Victor Borge said, a smile is the shortest distance between two people. And one of the reasons I wrote this book was simply to get closer to more like-minded people, like you.The main reason I wrote this book, however, is
You aren’t stuck with the body you have.
You can make it better, even if you’ve mishandled it, and it’s far simpler than many people believe.
And once you start changing your body, you’ll realize that you also have the power to change your life.
Because here’s the
Every day, your body’s biology is changing.
It’s getting stronger or weaker, younger or older, healthier or sicker, and the driving factor behind these changes isn’t your genes, environment, or even your age—it’s your lifestyle.
How you eat. How you exercise. How you sleep. How you supplement. And not just how, but how often.
Because what you do every day is far more important than what you do every so often.
Hence this daily reader—something to dip into every day for a morsel of education, spark of encouragement, or moment of joy.
And by doing just that—by reading and applying just a few daily pages—you can gradually upgrade your mindset, diet, exercise, supplementation, rest, recovery, stress management, and more.
So, if you've been saying "one day" for too long now, will today be the day you say "day one" instead?

Michael Matthews' "Stronger Than Yesterday" is like a daily dose of fitness inspiration in your pocket. With 169 short chapters, it offers bite-sized motivation and practical tips on workouts, nutrition, and mindset. Readers appreciate the concise format and actionable advice, finding it helpful for staying on track with their fitness goals. While some find the writing style a bit repetitive, it's generally considered a useful resource for those seeking daily encouragement and reminders to prioritize their health and fitness journey.
Freaking amazing. This is a no B.S. book of insights. Matthews is just telling you how it is, was and remains. Appreciate these 169 treasure trove insights.
I'm only half way through, but I love it. The quotes, the science based quick hits, the wry humor.. it's a refreshful reminder to keep it simple and work hard.
Stronger Than Yesterday is an extraordinary book. It’s packed with motivational quotes that gave me the energy and mindset I needed to build the habit of going to the gym consistently. More than just motivation, the book is full of solid principles that reinforce what I’ve learned in Michael Matthews’ other books—helping me train with purpose, follow a smart plan, and be more mindful of my nutrition every day.
This is an excellent resource, especially for those who are just starting out with resistance training and want to improve their health. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to build a stronger body and a stronger mindset. A five-star read!
At this point, I'll read ANYTHING that Mike Matthews puts out - he literally has never disappointed me yet. I've never seen so much motivational, yet down-to-earth and science-backed advice packed into one book before, and - I rarely say this - but basically everyone should read this book. I also LOVED The Little Black Book of Workout Motivation, and I'd say that Stronger Than Yesterday is even better! Highly recommend!
Bigger, leaner strong and beyond bigger, leaner, stronger I didn’t enjoy so much but this one was better. The first two books were difficult listens due to the constant list of meals, workouts, etc. This book wasn’t bad though, seemed much simpler and easier to listen to
Yikes! Had to stop after he called mental health professionals “shrinks” and was super belittling towards them. Not a fan at all. Fitness unfortunately can’t fix every mental health problem and that should never, ever, be the narrative. Be better
Mike Matthews is one of the few I trust for accurate and research based health and fitness knowledge. This is a great compilation of no BS advice mixed with some more in depth discussion.
