Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance

Rate this book
A fake relationship between a fiery teacher and a notorious football star heats up into something dangerously real—but is this game worth the risk?

Brielle

Starting my teaching career as the butt of a prank gone wrong is not how I imagined things going. The hits keep coming when it’s none other than the notorious Ares Bellingham’s nephew who pulls the prank.

Ares, Fall Lake University’s most controversial rising football star, is the last person I expect—or want—to see standing in my classroom, but here he is, infuriatingly smug as he tries to fix things.

Just when I think things can't get worse, my past resurfaces, threatening to disrupt the life I've worked so hard to rebuild.

But Ares has a plan, one that might be worth the Hail Mary he’s throwing my way, and suddenly my life becomes even more complicated.

Ares

One ridiculous mistake almost cost me everything—my shot at the NFL, my reputation, and my family. Now, I’m just inches away from getting benched for good.

My coach is breathing down my neck, the scouts are watching my every move, and I can't afford another fumble.

But when my nephew’s prank lands me in Brielle Sinclair’s crosshairs, the fiery teacher with a no-nonsense attitude, I’m suddenly facing another fourth-and-long.

She needs help running interference on her past, and I need…well, I need her.

The Play

It’s simple, really.

I’ll be her pretend boyfriend to keep her tormentors at bay, and she’ll help me show the world I’m not the PR nightmare they think I am.

But as we spend more time together, faking it becomes harder, especially with sparks flying whenever I’m near her.

I’m ready to fight for her, but will she let me prove that what we have is more than just a game?

Pump Fake is a fake relationship, one-night stand turned friends with benefits, college sports romance, filled with all the heat and angst you crave—without any cliffhangers.

I can't believe I let so much time pass between reading the first book in this series and reading this one. I've thoroughly enjoyed the way the story has progressed, and I'm really hoping for Liam's story next!

Brielle's life is a mess and she is putting out fires left and right. As a teacher, she is on the receiving end of being a substitute teacher and a prank gone wrong. What she doesn't plan on is Ares Bellingham being the Uncle to the boy in trouble.

Ares is in his own trouble, a moment from his past has reemerged threatening his final year in college and future career. He needs to make a change and finding out more about Brielle she needs a buffer. Can they work together and what happens when lines are crossed and feeling become involved?

This is such an entertaining series. Fast paced through out the chemistry is off the charts between Brielle and Ares. In the first book Ares was a character I was so curious about and his story was even better than I hoped for.

***ARC****

Thanks to Chaotic Creatives for selecting me for this ARC. And a HUGE!!! thank you to the wonderful author for writing this amazing book. THANK YOU!!! ❤❤❤

Ares and Brielle were for each other. They both had reasons to not want to be in relationships but still there was that instant attraction and they couldn't deny it. I mean when they first met, she knew who he was and the controversy he was newly apart of and he had a reputation so of course she judged before knowing him and he didn't like her attitude and reaction towards him...BUT....the attraction was there and when they saw each other again, sparks flew and it was as they say the rest is history because since that night, they were always around each other. And being around means hooking up because as much as they were in a fake relationship with each other, they were also and mainly friends with benefits and for me it was a serious relationship just by the way they were each other. It started as fun and then got so serious and I loved it, I saw they fell for each other slowly but quickly at the same time. I was here for it.

One of my favorite tropes is found family and I loved it from the first book; Quarterback Keeper. These men are ALWAYS there for each other; Ares, Kylian and Liam are just so top tier. And can we talk about how that showed when that twist happened? They just went in and I know they're football players and they're super fit and strong but that situation they put themselves in; ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE BTW, was just crazy and I'm still shocked by it. But they came out winning just as they do on the field.

Overall I give this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5. The MCs were so relatable because Brielle had gone through so much with her family and had to take on taking care of her sister and she did such a fantastic job. The way she managed her life, it was really obvious why she didn't have time for a relationship. And it was the same thing for Ares. He worked so hard on football to make it his career. He took care of his mom; she worked still but he wanted that to stop because it was time for her to live her life, and nephew; now that aspect is sad and I can't even but yeah. Ares and Brielle I would say didn't need each other but showed up for each other and was there when they needed help or a helping hand. I'm not gonna lie, they were sensitive when it came to certain situations and they had ALL the right to be that sensitive, it did get to me at times but in their defense they didn't know each other on a deeper level yet but in time they observed and learned from mistakes and what each other liked and disliked. I love their communication, the banter, the jokes, I loved every second it. The spice wasnt super spicy, it was there but not over the top so yeah. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

But I do recommend this book and series and I would also recommend reading in order. This is a great read, fast paced, has great representation of brotherhood and don't give a crap what the situation is, they would go to bat for each other and just Bulldozer their way in and get whatever job done, both on and off the field. The romance is beautiful because even in the hookup stage, they be doing the cutest things like holding and intertwining fingers. When he messes up, he grovels, it might not be for a long time, but he does show up and show her he's there for her and protects her and when I say protect, trust me he goes to the ends of earth for her. I love them and yeah I would say I want more.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

P.S. I loved seeing the OGs Kylian and Aurora. I miss them. And as for Liam, I ship him and a certain bestie of Brielle. That book I really wanna read because this man lives up to the reputation and he always is saying to stay single and I want to see him fall inlove and I want to see him Swooning after a girl or a boy, whichever way because my mind is like that, I always read into things and at times I'm wrong and that's okay because I love a good twist. 😏😏😏

GO READ THIS SERIES.

Pump Fake by Isla Vaughn is a steamy, fake relationship romance with emotional depth. Brielle and Ares are both juggling heavy family responsibilities—she’s protecting her younger sister after a scandal, and he’s stepping in as guardian for his nephew after a family tragedy. When they cross paths, the dislike is strong—but so are the sparks that fly—and what begins as a fake relationship with simple intentions quickly evolves into something more meaningful.

While I appreciated the strong character development, I struggled to fully connect with Brielle. She's resilient—managing school, work, and family—but I found it difficult to warm to her. Ares, on the other hand, immediately stood out to me. His protectiveness, especially toward his family, and his willingness to risk his future for Brielle made him a standout hero. His character definitely cemented his place as a compelling MMC.

The chemistry between Brielle and Ares is undeniable, but the spice was more understated than expected. That said, I really enjoyed the slow-burn, frenemies-with-benefits dynamic that ultimately blossoms into something more. Isla Vaughn’s writing keeps you engaged with a mix of humor, emotional depth, and moments of tension, though at times the latter felt more like a backdrop to the characters' evolving connection.

Even though Pump Fake is the second book in the Fall Lake Ballers series, it works perfectly as a standalone. It’s left me eager to go back and read Quarterback Keeper—and I'm definitely looking forward to Liam's book! The characters are so engaging, and the series feels like it has a lot of heart.

If I had one critique, it would be that the pacing was a bit uneven at times, and the plot occasionally felt crowded with family drama and external complications. However, Pump Fake is still a fantastic read, and I’d recommend it to fans of sports romance, fake relationships, and complex characters. My first Ilsa Vaughn book but definitely not my last!

Pump Fake is book two in the Fall Lake Ballers book series by Isla Vaughn.
Brielle Sinclair has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She is going to school, substitute teaching and trying to take care of her younger sister after her father lost their fortune and was charged with corporate fraud.
She is just trying to get through each day. Working around her college schedule, Brielle is a substitute teacher at an all-boys school called Linwood Prep. While teaching one day she has an issue with one of the students who pulled a prank on her. When she calls the boy's grandmother, she can't make the meeting. So, the grandmother sends her son, Ares Bellingham. Much to Brielle's surprise! Everyone on campus knows Ares Bellingham. Senior star football player at Fall Lake University. And Brielle doesn't have time for him or his horrible reputation.

Ares Bellingham is a star football player at Fall Lake University, who is having a rough time his senior year. After an indecent video got released - he can't stop thinking about how one stupid moment has put his future football career in jeopardy. Not to mention trying to help his mom with his nephew Preston who lost both of his parents in a car accident a few years ago. His solution to at least part of his football problem is to find a serious girlfriend. So that it looks like he and his life is stable.

After a not so polite meeting between Ares and Brielle regarding Preston. They run into each other, literally at a bar one night, While Brielle is trying to appease her old snobby debutant friends, she asks Ares to pretend to be with her for a short period of time so that she can look good to her old friends. Ares agrees as he needs a fake relationship for very different reasons and what happens from there is a slow burn of anticipation and electrifying indifference. A wonderful frenemy to lover's story.
A perfect addition to book one Quarterback Keeper. Highly recommend both!

Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance (Fall Lake Ballers Book 2) Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance by Isla Vaughn

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was the second of the Fall Lake Ballers series books that I have read of Isla Vaughn. This story was a quick read about Ares and Brielle. Ares, the star tight end at Fall Lake U, and Brielle, an education and English lit. major and substitute teacher of none other than Ares' nephew Preston, her worst nightmare in the class she substitutes for. Ares and Brielle are instantly attracted to each other, but neither want to admit it. Until one night that changes everything, Ares agrees to pretend to be Brielle's boyfriend so that the mean girls from her past really had something to talk about. That moment changed everything and started them on a new path to their own happily ever after. Brielle deals with the repercussions of her fathers poor choices and ends up in very real danger, Ares realizes he will do anything he can to get her back and make sure she knows how much he loves her.
I enjoyed this book, but I wish there would have been a little more to the danger Brielle was going to face, I felt the end of the book was a bit rushed and would have enjoyed reading more. I look forward to the third installment and learning about Liam.

One of my favorite authors is at it again! Sucking me into another guilty pleasure series, I feel too old reading this series sometimes, but I can’t put the books down. Pump Fake being no different! Back for book 2 involving our favorite characters from Fall Lake University, the author takes the reader on an adventure of self discovery. Defining who one is, as themself as well as with someone else. These specific characters have been through different tragedies and had to learn and grow from them.
Ares has set his sights on the NFL. Unfortunately he has a nephew that doesn’t make things easy. After the loss of his sister & brother in law, Ares steps up to help his mom with his nephew. Unfortunately his nephew isn’t dealing with the loss in a healthy way and taking it out on his English teacher among others.
Brielle is trying to get through life. 2 years prior her family lost everything due to her father’s shady business practices. When she encounters Ares' nephew at her job. She’s the subject of his torment. what she didn’t expect was to come face to face with a man she fantasizes about and can’t take seriously, all because someone was out to ruin his reputation with a sex tape.
When they keep coming into situations where help is needed they are there for each other. Having started a friends with benefits relationship.
But will that be enough?
Will they keep it from Ares' nephew?
Will it jeopardize Brielle’s job and everything she’s worked for?
Those questions and so many many more come to the reader while getting through the novel. It’s not necessary to read book 1 in this series, but in my opinion I would. Time to job in, happy readIng

This is th second book in the Fall Lake Ballers series. This is another amazing read by this author. I have loved every book I have read and am never disappointed. This is a fake romance story filled with secrets, lies, family drama and careers at risk of failing there is so much more to this story than meets the eye.

In this book we meet Brielle and Ares.

Brielle has been struggling to build a life for herself after her father's actions destroyed the family and her reputation. Finally she is working her way to getting the career she so desperately wants. So she is annoyed when a prank on her first day leads her into the sights of Ares.

Ares has his own issues after a leaked sex tape threatens his chance of a career in the NFL. Now he has to fight to prove that he isn't the PR nightmare people think he is. But it's not that easy as not only does her have the stress of his career and school but he is also helping his mum take care of his nephew which is no easy task.
And it is his nephew's behaviour that leads him to Brielle.

The attraction between them is instant and when Brielle's past raises it's head and the pressure the coach is putting on Ares, he comes up with a idea to help solve both their issues. Why don't they pretend to be together? In Ares mind this will solve both of their problems but when happens when the lines between pretend and reality gets blurred.
Can Ares prove to Brielle that what is growing between them is worth fighting for and worth taking a chance on.
Again this is another amazing sports romance read which I couldn't put down.

Pump Fake had a lot of great heart, with a bit of suspense added in, it was a nice addition to this series. A 4.5 read overall.

Brielle has grit, especially for a girl who’s family lost everything when her father was very publicly arrested. While still trying to protect her younger sister from the fallout, Brielle has a lot on her plate including school and part-time teaching. She doesn't have time to date, but once her mother begins pushing her past into her face, a fake boyfriend works wonders on keeping the sharks at bay.

Ares helps take care of his nephew after his sister passed and as fate would have it, Preston, Ares' nephew, is in Brielle's class and causing all kinds of trouble. Trouble Ares doesn't need. He's already in deep with a video that surfaced and the best suggestion offered is keep his nose clean and perhaps find a steady girl. He doesn't have time to date, but when Brielle needs a fake boyfriend for her own reasons, it turns out he could use a fake girlfriend in his own as well.

With great tension and lots of heat and as it turns out they both need a fake relationship for very different reasons. These two aren't looking for anything long term, they both are knee deep in family complications, school, and looking long term into their own future. However, the more time they spend together the more they enjoy every moment together and it only makes it harder when they both think about saying goodbye.

Pump Fake , the second book in The Fall Lake Ballers series is just as good as the first one. And it's the perfect mix of sports and suspense romance with a dash of fake dating, mixed emotions and family drama. And Brielle and Ares are so good together. From watching her father's arrest on the news to working and studying and helping her sister , Brielle is pretty busy to deal with her mother's delusions and some throubled kid's pranks at school . Ares is too busy with school and training and helping his mum and nephew to have a girlfriend and to date. So a compromising video of him out of nowhere is a hit to his reputation and threatens his chances to be drafted , on top of it his nephew is acting out and messing with a teacher. When those two meet sparks fly and the attraction between them is understandable but they can't act on it . Because Brielle is Ares's nephew's teacher. And they have quite a rocky start. On their second meeting things change and they start a deal for fake dating to help each other. The added benefits just make their relationship steaming hot . The attraction and the chemistry grows with time and so are their feelings for each other. The suspense is simmering under the surface and some of the trouble Brielle's father's is in reach her . The added danger only reveals their true feelings and what they are made of. Brielle is no damsel in distress and Ares is like the god of war . That epilogue was the perfect happily ever after and Brielle and Ares are the next power couple. And now I want to know Liam's story.

Thanks to the author and Chaotic Creatives Services for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.

This is book two in the series and it does not disappoint. If you haven't read book one, that is fine, this book can be read as a stand alone. Just know that there are characters in the previous book in this book and I am sure future characters also, in this book. So, if you want to know more background on the surrounding characters of this book read the first one. I tend to read anything this author puts out because I am never disappointed with their writing style. I feel that the author is able to connect the reader to the characters so well, that you almost feel like you are part of their friend group. Bummer, they aren't real. lol. This book has some really good humor in it as it starts with a prank and that sets the whole thing into motion. There is the baggage that each character has and shows them struggling with overcoming it and being better in the end. I couldn't put this book down because I needed to know what was going to happen next and how the characters are going to deal with everything going on. There is a lot happening in this book and I don't feel that anything was rushed but really well thought out. I am excited to see what happens in book three. If you have a day that you just don't feel like doing anything, I highly suggest reading this series. It won't disappoint, even if sports romances aren't your thing, you will still like the other levels of this book.

Brielle is trying to survive in life and try a help her sister in the process, until one day her life is turned upside down when a student plays a prank and spirals her world.

Ares Bellingham is a college football star but with a reputation, having to look after his nephew was the last thing he wanted but after a family tragedy the two of them have to work together, so when he is called in when his nephew pulls a prank he is not prepared for who he finds in the classroom.

So when they are both left with a dilemma the best course of action if for Brielle and Ares to work together to help each other and what's a fake relationship until they start getting feelings for each other. What can go wrong?

This is another wonderful story from a brilliant author, I have read a lot of this author's books and this book does not disappoint. Although this is the second book in this series you can easily read this as a stand alone book and the characters although are jaded and broken in some ways find the love they deserve in the end.

Brielle's characters is a brilliant counterpart to Ares who at times shows just how vulnerable he can be and his determination to be the best and help and support everyone. I did however take a while to warm up to Brielle as a character but in the end she shone through. The chemistry between these two characters was a slow burn but in the end the attraction between them shot off the page.

I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Pump Fake was another enthralling read by Isla Vaughn!

Brielle is trying to move on with her life and distance herself from her family's drama. She has started a new teaching job, but even that proves harder than she thought. She comes face to face with football star Ares after his nephew pulls a prank on her.

Like Brielle, Ares is trying to change the course of his life after a stupid mistake almost took away all of his dreams. When the two meet again after their fiery meeting in the classroom, Brielle asks Ares for a favor… pretend to be her boyfriend. Little did she know, this one little favor would completely alter the course of her life.

They soon agree that this fake relationship could benefit both of them and could definitely help Ares’s reputation. While there is no shortage of chemistry and physical attraction, I enjoyed seeing a friendship and real relationship develop, even if they wouldn’t admit it to each other or themselves.

As with the first book in the series, there is some mystery and danger included within the story as well, which adds another complex layer to the book. Vaughn does a wonderful job of combining emotion, romance, and suspense, which makes the book even more engaging. I have been a fan of hers for some time now, and as always, I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Brielle is a teacher in a difficult situation. She was hoping beginning her teaching career was the start of the upswing for her, but when college bullies set their sites on her to set her up as the butt of a prank, she has to find a way to protect herself and her career. As she is also attempting to protect her sister after a scandal, she is willing to do what she needs to in order to have the safety net covering them both.

Ares is a football star who is also in a difficult situation. After a family tragedy, he's being put in a position to become guardian for his nephew - who is the student that pulled the prank on Brielle. His protectiveness of his family and his hail mary to protect his NFL career have brought them together.

Ares needs a positive career boost to show the world he's not as bad as they think he is, and Brielle needs the assurance of having some protection against her tormenters. When Ares first approaches her with his offer, neither are impressed. He's too smug and sure of himself, she is too high and mighty...but they need each other. Despite how little they both want to be involved in this fake relationship, they both have something the other needs to get through their struggles. What starts as a fake romance for image involving dislike, distrust, and lots of sparks leads to...something real?

Brielle’s whole world came crashing down around her family all because of her dad’s selfish decisions. She can’t let this derail her plan of finishing college and ensuring her sister gets into college to escape their entitled mother. Brielle takes a substitute teaching job to help pay for her tuition. Unfortunately, she has to deal with the class clown Preston. After his latest prank, Brielle requests a family member pick him up. Little did Brielle know that family member would be the Fall Lake University’s most desired quarterback Ares Bellingham. Brielle doesn't have time for the likes of Ares.
Ares could have messed up his chances of being drafted into the NFL. The coach was not happy with Ares's sex tape leak and neither was he. Ares has to fix this. On a chance meeting at the local bar, Ares runs into Brielle. Literally runs into her spilling her drink all over her Prada dress. Brielle needs to get away from her shark social light “friends” Ares pretends to be Brielle's boyfriend to get her out of the bar. Little did those two realize that their fake dating would end up as so much more.
I have really come to love each story that I can read by this author. She builds her stories so they leave you wanting more. This book did not disappoint and I can't wait for the book!

Pump Fake is Book 2 in the Fall Lake Ballers series and I loved Ares and Brielle's story. If you love sports romance like I do, I highly recommend reading this series in order as characters are intertwined from the first book. Fake dating, family trauma, mafia, danger with sizzling chemistry between Ares and Brielle...everything I love in reading romance.

Fake dating should be easy...they say. When Ares and Brielle meet for the first time trying to deal with Ares' nephew and his acting out....Ares is also juggling college classes, being a college football player with hopes of playing in the NFL but also helping to support his mom and nephew.....Brielle is trying to find her way through college and also teaching... trying to also help her sister when their family falls apart with ties to dangerous people. Ares is not looking for any relationship, neither is Brielle....which could be a perfect match for fake dating to keep everyone away....

When lines are blurred and being together is more real.....with danger around the corner....will Ares and Brielle's chemistry become more....definitely read and find out!

I absolutely loved this book but that is nothing new. Everything she writes is amazing and hooks me from the very beginning.

This book is about a college star football player who is getting bad publicity which can ruin his career before it begins and another college student who currently subs at an all boys school who grew up getting what she wants and never worrying about anything until recently. Brielle’s main concern is helping her sister make it to a college she always wanted to go to and was accepted to. Now with their lives being changed, they don’t have the money they are used too.

Ares needs someone to help clean up his image to be taken Seriously and when he meets his nephews teacher, he wants it to be her. Ares nephew is a troubled kid who makes Brielle’s job unbearable.
When Ares and Brielle run into eachother at a bar, Ares decides they can both help eachother out. They start fake-dating but somewhere down the road, lines are blurred and they both start to have real feelings for eachother.
When Brielle is abducted by some horrible men her father owes money to, Ares knows he must rescue her.
This was a real sweet, emotional read with lots of heat!

Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance (Fall Lake Ballers Book 2)

Ares and Brielle's story does not disappoint in any way, shape or form. I loved getting his back story and learning what makes him tick. Brielle was a pleasant surprise, she was born into a life of privilege but that gets torn away quite suddenly.

Ares is a wonderful, son, uncle, friend & man. He does what he can to help his mom and nephew while juggling school and of course and he has no plans of doing everything differently.

Brielle manages to get her feet back under her after the rug gets pulled out from under her. She balances school, work and being there for her little sister.

I could relate with Brielle on the parent front, mine weren't rich but my mom was very worried about herself and only herself. It's tough growing up in a family like that, but I feel like it makes you stronger

I hope Brielle's friend Mallory and her sister Serena are able to find their happily ever after too and that is get to read them. Liam's story can't get here soon enough, I'm impatiently waiting to get his story. Thankfully it will be released in the spring.

“The Play
It’s simple, really.
I’ll be her pretend boyfriend to keep her tormentors at bay, and she’ll help me show the world I’m not the PR nightmare they think I am.
But as we spend more time together, faking it becomes harder, especially with sparks flying whenever I’m near her.
I’m ready to fight for her, but will she let me prove that what we have is more than just a game?”

Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance is the second book in the Fall Lake Ballers series by Isla Vaughn. This is a sports romance (football) with a prank gone wrong, high stakes, a fake relationship element, chemistry, steam, emotion, banter, and humour- with heartwarming touches that helped to balance everything beautifully.
As I have said many times before, Ms. Vaughn never disappoints, and even though I was never a huge sports romance fan in the past, her books have helped me to come to love the genre.
This is Brielle and Ares story- that starts with a prank gone wrong, which then results in a fake relationship, that leads to more than these two ever expected.
Bring on Book #3.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Isla Vaughn!

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind. I love a good sports romance but this book exceeds my expectations. This is the second book of the very addictive series of the Fall Lake Ballers. This book could be read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited to read this book so I started it right away. I could not put this book down until the end. These two characters drew me in right from the beginning. I can’t wait to see who she will write about next.

Brielle Sinclaire has been trying to get her life back. She loves being a teacher even if it was a joke in the past. Brielle loves all her students but one of the students plays a prank that brings up her past. She is shocked when she finds out this student's uncle is the very hot football star: Ares Bellingham. Brielle is getting to know him and they need each other's help. They are going to fake date so her past will leave her alone and show the world that Ares is not the player they all think he is. Brielle starts feeling things for Ares she never thought was possible. Is this really love or is it all a game?

Two years after her father was arrested for Corporate Fraud, Brielle is trying to juggle her senior year at Fall Lake University and a teaching job at the prestigious Linwood Prep. Things go from bad to worse when she's the target of a prank by none other than the nephew of the hot shot football star, Ares, who recently made a big splash all over social media. Although their first (or second)impressions of each other weren't the best, circumstances throw them together and a one night stand leads to a friends with benefits situation. Both Brielle and Ares have people depending on them and learn to rely on each other to work through their problems.
I really enjoyed the story which was well-written and kept up a good pace. This is the 2nd book in the series but I don't feel like I was missing anything by not reading the first book. I loved that it was a friends with benefits and I didn't have to wait on the spice.

Thank you to the author and the Chaotic Creatives for the advanced readers copy.

Pump Fake by Isla Vaughn is the second book in the Fall Lake Ballers Series. Some of the same great characters return from the first book, Quarterback Keeper. Pump Fake centers around Ares and Brielle; both seniors who are juggling some difficult responsibilities in their lives. As with all of Isla Vaughn's books I've read, the world building is amazing. I was sucked into the story, felt all the struggles and intense feelings, and could merely hold on tight through the twists and turns. The instant connection between Ares and Brielle only grows stronger throughout the book. Ares is juggling football, the loss of his sister, his rebellious nephew, and a scandalous video of him that could jeopardize it all. Brielle is working her way through college as a substitute teacher, juggling school, her family’s fall from riches, looking out for her little sister, and getting caught up in her father's poor choices. This book has me turning pages, waiting for the next twist in the story. I can't wait for the next installment of the Fall Lake Ballers Series.

Pump Fake is a steamy, fake dating, friends with benefits romance, with a smidge of suspense. This story follows Brielle Sinclair, a college student and high school teacher, and Ares Bellingham, the starting tight end for the Fall Lake University football team.. Both are struggling with keeping their future's on track while juggling familial responsibilities.

Briell and Ares had an undeniable chemistry that was made more explosive by the dislike they first had towards each other. I loved seeing the sparks fly between them and seeing them bond over their familial obligations. Ares had intrigued me in Quarterback Keeper, the first book in the series, and in this book, he cemented himself as a standout hero. He was so protective of those he cared about and uuuffff he was sexy AF. Brielle, similarly, was very protective of her sister and a strong and independent FMC.

Isla Vaughn delivered an engaging romance that had a great blend of tension, humor, and emotional depth. I recommend it to fans of sports romance, fake relationships, and suspense.

Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance (Fall Lake Ballers Book) by Isla Vaughn. This is such a good sports romance. Its the story of Brielle who has had a hard road due to her parents. Trying to overcome the mistakes of her parents Brielle is determined to get thru college and make sure her sisters get thru as well. Brielle takes a sub job at the college she's attending to be able to finish school. When she is the victim of a students prank it turns her world upside down. Ares is a star college football player but he's walking a tightrope at the moment. One more screw up and he's out. He is having to take care of his nephew who also attends college and is the prep who pulled the prank of Brielle. When Ares goes to Brielle's class he is smitten from the start but knowing he has to take care of this problem he comes up with a plan. He and Brielle can pretend they are a couple and it will save her reputation and help his as well. The only problem is, while they spend time together they catch feelings. A lot of feelings. This steamy college sports read is a great one!

Yup, just as I said I could not wait to dive into this book after reading the first of the series.
Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance (Fall Lake Ballers Book 2) by Isla Vaughn is the second book in the Fall Lake Ballers series. It follows the romance between characters Ares and Brielle
This book is an engaging and fun read for fans of sports romance, especially those who enjoy the tension between athletic competition and personal relationships. Isla Vaughn has created a compelling story in this second installment of the Fall Lake Ballers series, offering readers a mix of emotional depth, steamy romance, and relatable characters. The romantic tension builds at a perfect pace, making the eventual connection between the characters feel earned and genuine. Vaughn manages to inject enough freshness and heart to keep it from feeling predictable. The writing is smooth and engaging, making it easy to lose yourself in the world of Fall Lake and its ballers. I highly recommend this series and I truly can't wait for more.

Ares is on the college football team and is a great player but one mistake with a girl may have ruined his career. She uploaded a sex tape of them without his knowledge. Ares is also helping raise his nephew who is troubled and grieving the loss of his mother. He is acting out in classes and Ares is called into a meeting with the substitute teacher after the latest prank. Brielle recognizes Ares from the tape that's been linked around campus and immediately dislikes him for doing such a thing. Brielle is dealing with her own stresses, trying to help her sister get into college after a family scandal. When Ares and Brielle cross paths again and Ares winds up saving her by pretending to be dating her, they strike up a deal. Dating her would help his image. But soon the fake dating turns into real feelings.

I loved Ares from his short appearances in Quarterback Keeper and I looked forward to his story. This series has me hooked from start to finish, staying up late to finish them. I just love this authors writing. This series is probably what got me into sports romance.

Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance (Fall Lake Ballers Book 2) By Isla Vaughn

Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance is the second book in the Fall Lake Ballers Series and is a College Sports Romance/fake relationship with plenty of heat, angst, drama and so much more. I literally devoured this book in one afternoon sitting because I couldn’t put it down. I’m a huge fan of this author and have read several books and each one is my favorite but this may be my favorite yet of this series The characters are fully developed, relatable, complex and bring the story to life. This is Brielle and Ares story. She’s a teacher and he’s a football star. They both have things they are dealing with and still are managing every day life. These two cross paths and the heat is on. I don’t want to give to much away so I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

I loved Ares and Brielle’s story! Brielle is a senior at the university and substitute teaching at an all boys private academy. Her father was arrested for fraud and she lost everything, house, friends, tuition, and more. She is making it through and now has to figure out how to help her sister since she can no longer go to the ivy league school she had been accepted to. Ares is one of the starting football players. He is caught in a sex video scandal that he didn’t approve of and the coach is on him to look better for the scouts. His sister passed away and now his nephew lives with his mom and is the trouble student in Brielle’s class. They meet for a parent teacher conference after Preston pulls another prank - Brielle knows him and about the video and is not nice at all, Ares just thinks she is good looking. When they see each other out later he comes to her rescue and the fake dating relationship begins. A little steamy, a little mystery, a lot of fun to read!

Between school, working and her sister Brielle does not have the time or energy for much else. The last thing she needs is to draw attention to herself when she finds herself on the receiving end of a prank especially when it seems the best solution is to pretend to be in a relationship with Ares, a football player with issues of his own.

With Ares football career in jeopardy, he cannot afford any more missteps and that include those of the nephew that he is now responsible for. After meeting Brielle and learning about her predicament a pretend relationship would solve both their problems however developing feelings for each other was never part of the plan.

Ares and Brielle have so much in common between being there for their families, school, and other responsibilities. They understand each other in a way that many do not and not only is the chemistry between them electric but the depth of their feelings for each other is intense.
