When I fist saw this book I automatically thought of Laurann Dohner's New Species series, and since I love that series I gave this book a try. While there are similarities to this the Breed series and the New Species series this book is not a carbon copy. I really enjoyed that this book told of the god's rescue and what happens right after their rescue.

Sierra is on the team that was called out to rescue the god's, DNA enhanced men who were named after the Greek god's because of their greater minds and powers. When Sierra and Zeus first see each other neither can deny the attraction but Zeus knows right away that Sierra is his and that he will do anything to make her his mate. When the god's are rescued and take over the building they were being held in a storm keeps Sierra and her team locked in with the god's. The more time Sierra and Zeus spend together the harder it becomes for Sierra to deny her feelings for Zeus. The sexy dreams aren't helping either and seem to make it harder and harder for Sierra to stay away from Zeus.

Zeus will do anything to keep Sierra, she isn't like any of the woman brought into the facility when they were held captive. Sierra is strong and very independent. When Sierra leaves after her job is done Zeus vows to do anything to get her back, and when that happens anything to finally make her realize they belong together. When Sierra can no longer deny Zeus they begin to fall in love, and when they may finally be settling into a family the god's find out that not only are there more facilities keeping god's and their demon brothers captive (those who couldn't blend in with humans) but that someone who should be helping them may be the one they need to worry about the most.

I liked this book I really enjoyed that this book shows us the rescue and what happens right after, how the god's adjust and decide how to build lives and futures for all the god's. Even though while reading this book it was hard not to think of both the New Species series and the Breed series this book took on it's own take and made it's own story, and I'm not even complaining about the similarities because if I'm honest thats what drew me to this book in the first place. I found this book very interesting and the story kept a great flow and was never boring.

Zeus was a great hero who loved Sierra more than anyone else and wouldn't rest till he claimed her and even went so far as to start the claiming without her even knowing. I really liked Sierra she was a very smart capable heroine, she was tough and smart but most importantly she was a great medium between tough and still feminine. I loved that Sierra was tough but not so tough that she made me think she may try to beat up the hero herself and take his place, but she also wasn't a push over and stood up for what she knew was right.

We also learn about many other god's and females that have caught their eyes. I found the story very interesting with all the characters and though Crystal Dawn writes about many characters it never felt overwhelming. I am really interested in seeing how this series goes and to see the progress of this author as this series progresses. Though this series isn't perfect it was a really fast interesting and fun read, filled with action, a possessive hot hero, and a great heroine with a really nice story and side characters to back them up.

I love the New Species series by Laurann Dohner. So it's not a big surprise that this story did arouse my interest.

The story itself was great. I liked that it isn't just a copy and tells its own story instead.

I just had the feeling it was more telling than showing! I was missing a connection to the characters at times and even if the scene was discribed in details there was something missing for me.

Also what bothered me a bit was that in this military unit there were so much women! That might sound odd but there were a little bit too little men around for my likeing. And it seems as if there were no averaged female characters. All the women were stunning!

All in all I could say that it's nice to read while you are waiting for the new episode of the New Species. But for me it's nothing to go all fangirl about.

This book is marketed as a sci fi, military thriller. It's none of that, it's a YA/COA novella featuring a woman serving in the arms, but sans surname, sans rank and sans a backstory (like what missions she was on before.)

What I like with military thrillers is the weaponry and gadgets, the planning and strategies and a real bad guy to set out for. There's none of it to be found here. Instead, we're dropped down right in the middle of the plot when the probably most interesting parts has already been taken place, like the attack and the inception into the facility where those imprisoned superhumans are kept.

There's some real dumb parts - like why are they flying IN A HELICOPTER from somewhere in the US to Antarctica??? Must've taken them DAYS! And the chain of command in that unnamed part of the military is a real mess-up. Then the hero is born with a libido - but no backbone. And that poor female doctor, she has no name at all. Just to mention a few things that annoyed me.

This story has zero action, zero suspense and zero character development - then again, there's really no characters to develope in this book. And to 'make up' for that, there's a lot of misogyny and more unfired guns than in a Colt manufacturing plant.

Drool worthy Hot Males…Crystal Dawn’s speciality!

With this new series Crystal Dawn captures the imagination of her readers by creating a new world of DNA super Gods. All males, all gorious, all with powers trained to do military missions yet kept secret and captive.
They are given their freedom but now they need to create a place to call home, a way to support themselves and free others that are still kept captive.
Also to create a community they need to find their mates, that perfect female that fits.
There is intrigue, action, secrets, deception, hot sizzling sexual attract and desire.

It was pretty interesting, and a different premise, but had done problems. First, the writing was pretty stilted. It was a telling not slang situation. Next it felt like there were too many threads going in every which way. There's laying groundwork for future books, then there is dumping tons of information. The sex scenes got redundant fast. We wait out the heroine and her 'I don't need a man complex', they do it, then they never stop. Ever. I know, I know, erotic romance- but this was too much. I paged through many of their scenes. I feel like a good editor would exponentially help this book.

A new spin on the paranormal.

I enjoyed this book. It seemed somewhat like the New Species Series but different in a lot of ways. My biggest complaint would be the plot progression. It just didn't flow the way it could have. I also found there was too much of the same type of sex. Yes, different words were used but it was the same every time. It became more of a filler it seemed. Regardless, I enjoyed the story and was still somewhat engrossed in it. I'm unsure if I will continue on to the next book.

This was a uniquely original plot. However, that said, I was not that into the story or how it was written. Zeus, bred with different DNA, is a "god" among men. He and his "brothers" are products of Origin's engineering and dominance and are saved by Sierra's crew. This story is about their journey to forge their own lives, loves and society. Zeus finds the ideal mate in Sierra but he must convince her. (Talk about some steamy, love scenes. I felt that sometimes the story too a serious backseat to these scenes.)

Great Book

Zeus was made in a lab from spliced DNA and something else. He is faster and stronger than human men. He and his brothers have been trained since they were toddlers to be super soldiers. Enslaved, abused, this is their story, with the emphasis on Zeus, their leader. This was a fantastic action based romance with an involved plot and great world building and character development.

Although there are reminders of other series in here, this one is completely different (That actually does make sense if you're me by the way). I want one of these Gods, I think I would be very happy if I had one, or maybe two? The world building is detailed enough to get the picture across but doesn't take up too much room to spoil the story. Well written.

A great start to a good story!

I really enjoyed this story. It was a little choppy at times but not enough to lower the rating. I recommend this book and will try other books by this author.

Fantastic book! I love how Ms. Dawn adds so much action and intrigue into her romances. It's full of love and sex as well. If you love good juicy stories with that extra something, you will love her books!

this was just a bit far fetched. and every time you turn around they're having sex. it was difficult to try to actually find out what the main idea and story was.

Great concept. Horrible execution. I started reading this book because someone recommended it based on Laurann Dohner's New Species series, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE. The only thing this book has in common was the concept. When comparing writing style, I would call Laurann a university degree level and this was written by a preschooler.
This may seem harsh, but it really was that bad. I don't often give up on a book - I usually read through in the hopes it will get better, but I just couldn't do it!! The run on sentences with useless offshoot thoughts were driving me bonkers!!
