Book Review: God, Michael and Me
This book got me real bad, and up till now, I lack words on how to perfectly review it.
Rosemary Okafor did her thing on this one, and I would give it 5 stars.
This book was really good. While reading God, Michael and Me, I found myself being pulled into it. It was divine.
Love, faith, and patience could be seen in this book.
It wasn’t just a romance novel — it was a gentle reminder that God is never late, even when our hearts feel like giving up.
At the heart of the story is Martha, who was an elegant and accomplished woman. This was someone many would think has it all… except love.
Her calm, composed life is suddenly stirred when she meets Michael, an older widower.
Their connection doesn’t explode; it simmers with warmth, understanding, and the kind of chemistry that feels ordained rather than rushed.
(Quick one: Michael is hot, and I love him. Amen? 🙏🏾)
What touched me the most was how real Martha’s emotions were.
Her fears, longings, and even the temptation to compromise were so relatable.
Rosemary Okafor beautifully captured the tension between being a Christian and also being human craving companionship, battling loneliness, and sometimes questioning God’s timing.
This was one aspect of the book I loved so much. You are a Christian, yes. But remember, you are still human. You have feelings. Having feelings isn't bad. 🙏🏾 Amen?
I love Martha and Michael's love story so much. What makes it powerful is that God was never just mentioned. He was present in their prayers, their decisions, and even in their silences.
But I must be honest: this isn’t your typical Christian fiction. It gets intimate. There are scenes where the emotions are raw and the physical connection leans toward the sensual. It's not graphic, but more descriptive than you might expect, and I love it.
Some may find it too much for Christian standards, but I think the author was trying to show that being spirit-led doesn’t make you numb to desire. It’s the control of that desire and surrender to God’s will that matters and that’s a conversation we need more of in Christian literature.
What I loved:
🍇 The deep spiritual undertone that doesn’t feel preachy.
🍇 The love story rooted in emotional and spiritual connection.
🍇 The exploration of second chances and late-bloom love.
🍇 The realistic portrayal of a Christian woman’s emotional life.
In the end, God, Michael and Me is more than just a story of love between two people.
It’s about trusting God with your timeline, knowing He hasn’t forgotten you, and believing that love, when God authors it will find you no matter how long it takes.
This book hugged my heart, challenged my thoughts on waiting, and left me with a renewed sense of hope that love which is pure and patient is still possible, even when it looks like time is no longer on your side.
