Mohamed Mubarak Khamees Eid Al-Araimi was born in 1954 in Wadi Murr in eastern Oman. He travelled widely in the Arabian Gulf before obtaining a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the U.S.
Near dawn one fateful night, en route to his work site in the oil fields of the Omani desert, he had a tragic accident when his car collided with a camel in the road. Faced with severe disabilities, he exerted himself in physical rehabilitation and was eventually able to resume his career in the petrochemical industry, and furthermore to develop his writing.
His Arabic writings include a novel entitled The Mark of a Chain, a semi-novel called Between Desert and Sea, and a collection of stories entitled Rainbow. He also translated George Orwell’s Animal Farm into Arabic.
