This is the story of four individuals whose lives are about to change. Sherry Low's One series of books are always enjoyable for me and I think it's because of the characters she creates. I called this her One "series" but it's not really a series. Every book can be read as a standalone they just all happen to have the word one in the title and everything happens over a certain period of time, this one takes place over 24 hours.
Like her other One books this has some familiar characters as well, I was especially pleased to see Alice and Val again. Low always writes compelling characters and those two are my favorites. This one takes place in January 2025 so it's perfect as a New Year read.
The four different points of view read easily and flowed well together. I love how seamlessly they all ended at the airport even if it was a little bit far-fetched at the end. I was so happy the author didn't go the way I thought she would with two of the story arcs and that bumped it up to four stars for me. It just tied up a little too perfectly in other ways.
I really like this book but I wish authors would stop throwing people into relationships so quickly after they've left one. It takes time to mourn a relationship and jumping into one so quickly after the breakdown of an engagement is not a good idea. We women do not need men to live happy, full lives. If you have a great one I am happy for you but it's because of love and commitment not because you can't be alone.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advance Readers Copy.
If Shari Low writes a book, I am going to read it. She has a knack for creating characters that I instantly care about. Her writing is also wonderful, moving, uplifting, humorous, and heartwarming. I was completely captivated by the plot of One Day and Forever which shows four characters facing challenges, revelations, and life changing events.
As the characters in this book find their lives changed in various ways in just one day, I was there for every second of it. The characters respond to each of their challenges in believable and realistic ways. As they process the things in their life, they show their connection to each other, provide support, and a caring environment in which to vent. Shari Low's books are charming, focus on relationships, family, community, real life issues, and love. I always feel good when I close the last page while anticipating reading what she writes next!
Beautifully written, moving, compelling and captivating!
Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love Shari Low’s books because she always delivers a heartfelt story stuffed with emotion and well-crafted characters. I always appreciate the multiple narratives that she weaves together and the intricate relationships she presents. Her stories are compelling, powerful, hopeful and beautifully written. This time, I also enjoyed meeting up with Alice and Val from ‘One Long Weekend’, Tress from ‘One Day With You,’ and Bernadette from ‘One Day Last Summer’ and seeing how they’ve navigated their personal trauma and come to terms with their own ‘heart conditions.’
I was swept away by a compelling story about characters on difficult journeys and appreciated the great twists, escalating tension, and realistic characters dealing with heartbreak, loss, and setbacks.
Low writes fantastic contemporary fiction!
I was gifted this copy by Boldwood Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
Kara McIntyre had been with her boyfriend, now fiance, for eight years, but when a Hogmanay event went horribly wrong, she ended up with no job, no fiance, no home and no upcoming wedding. Ollie Chiles had been Kara's best friend since they were children, and always had each other's backs. But when Ollie's wife, actress Sienna Montgomery, was caught in a compromising clinch with a fellow actor, with the video going viral, Ollie needed to work out which was best - heading to Hawaii for Kara, or going to LA to seek out Sienna.
Meanwhile Alice Brookes had finally had the courage to leave her brutal husband after many years, and after staying with Val, a kind, caring and special woman, for six months, was flying to London to stay with her son and his girlfriend, and she couldn't be happier. When Alice met the son of the woman who had once been her best friend, Zac Conlan had a lot of questions for her. Alice had lost track due to her horrible marriage, so Zac's questions concerned her. What would be the outcome for these people who were drawn together?
One Day and Forever is another excellent story by Shari Low which I enjoyed very much. A lot of characters, but it didn't take long before they all slotted into their places. The four MCs - two who knew each other (Ollie & Kara) and two who'd never met (Alice & Zac) were pretty much perfect in their own ways, and although I only recently discovered Shari Low, I've been entertained by each of her stories, with this one no different. Highly recommended.
With thanks to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for my digital ARC to read and review.
Again I’ve got to start by saying no one does the ‘book in a day’ in the lives of a group of characters like this author This time we meet a set of new ( and a reference to a couple of old favourites ) people whose lives are about to be turned upside down in love, work, where they live and family politics…..all set around Glasgow airport and links to each other that none of them could even have dreamed of I loved every bit and as always was laughing with them, feeling their sorrow and willing them on to make the right decisions…..of course none of it happens easily and every page there is a new challenge or crisis or decision to make……most of which can and do change lives forever The writing is superb, immediately you are there with each of them and soon they are friends and you are ‘in the book’ as well as reading it I can’t tell you how much I love these books but honestly if you have never tried one then this is the ideal one to start.
If Shari Low writes a book and Helen McAlpine narrates it, you can bet your ass I’m going to read it.
For fans of the author who are working their way through the “One” titles, while they’re definitely not a series and obviously published as stand alone titles, for probably the first time ever I’d suggest keeping this til last. In fact even keep it until after you’ve finished other series. I always love how the author drops characters in like old friends, and this time was no different, I loved it, however, if I hadn’t already read the back catalogue (as far as have been audiofied, please do it I beg 🙏) there as so many crossovers, with so many giveaways from other titles that I think I’d have been gutted not to have already known them. No bad thing, in fact it’s testament to the authors work that all of these characters knit together in such a way that I genuinely care what happens to them, and I remember them, which feels miraculous 😂 lads I have to tell you, there were several moments where I had a feeling this might be the last book. Shari please tell me you haven’t tossed the pen away?
This time the story centres around New Year’s Day over several years at Glasgow airport - which was a serious trigger for someone who worked New Year’s Day at Glasgow airport for many years, in fact I still have the fear when the weather is bad 😂 anyway, as only Shari can do One day has us immediately immersed in the lives of Kara, Zac and Ollie. There’s history at that airport, history that changes the future story for everyone involved. The story is so beautifully told that I think I’ll re listen to this fairly soon, particularly as I got so exited at ALL the cameos from other titles that I actually found them a distraction at times, and as much as I loved them, it’s the only thing that made me knock off a star, my mind kept wandering off to other titles. I’m kind of reluctant to add much more as I don’t want to spoiler, however if you love Aunt Val, she’s in it, in all her glory!
Helen McAlpine as always was an absolute star in the narration 🎧
I quite enjoyed this wee book. The characters were nice and I liked the way it all came together at the end. A nice wee book to cleanse the palate from the usual thrillers I enjoy.
This book has absolutely incredible and evocative descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.
Wow!! Another absolutely gorgeous read by the very talented Shari Low!! This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions setting the picture perfectly in the readers mind. The title, description and cover works perfectly with the storyline. It is one of those books that is very easy to read and perfect for any reading situations whether you are laying on a beach or curled up in front of a fire. It really does not matter where or when you are reading this as Shari will transport you into the lives of Kara McIntyre, Ollie Chiles, Alice Brookes and Zac Corlan at the turn of a page. This book is a standalone story but if you have ever read any of Shari's other books such as 'One Long Weekend' 'One Day With You', 'One Day After You' 'One Last Day Of Summer' you will recognise some of the characters in this one such as Alice Brookes and Val Murray, Tress and Bernadette. Regardless of whether you have previously read any of Shari's books or not she has very thoughtfully included a list of the main characters that we meet in this book as well as a small description of what they do, who they are and how they know or are related to others. It is an absolutely ideal read for anyone who is looking for a beautiful read that will have you hooked from beginning to end. I absolutely LOVED the realism of this storyline which made it so easy to picture everything that was going on which had been helped by Shari's fantastic evocative writing skills. I cannot wait to get hooked into more of Shari's books so I hope she is busy writing her next one!! In this beautiful storyline we follow our four main protagonists who are Kara McIntyre who has quit her job, called her wedding off and moved out of the flat she was living with her fiancé Josh, Ollie who is Kara's best friend, born in Glasgow but now living in LA after becoming famous in acting and is also married to another famous actress Sienna Montgomery, Alice who has finally escaped 30 years of living with an awful and abusive husband called Larry McLenn and is now living with her friend Val Murray and Zac Corlan who has just lost his Aunt only a year after losing his Mum. Shari does a beautiful job of not only weaving the storylines of these multiple protagonists together but also uses multiple timelines to show us how certain events happened. How do these amazing characters connect and meet? Will Kara be able to get another job, home and happiness? What does Ollie discover via social media? What does Zac discover to potentially change his whole life? Can Alice move on from her abusive past? Grab your copy of this gorgeous book today to find out for yourselves and I can promise that you will not regret it!! If you have never read any of Shari's books before you may even discover a new favourite author!! With a multi layered storyline ram packed with amazing and memorable characters, drama, brilliant locations, friendship, heartache, a wedding, romance, second chances and so much more what on Earth are you waiting for?? There is so much going on I was absolutely hooked from the very first page to the last. I absolutely devoured it in one sitting of several hours! It is a rollercoaster ride of emotions that will have you laughing one page and angry the next so it is definitely a book to read when you have a free day!! I absolutely loved the unique storyline exploring not just one or even two but four characters lives and how each of their lives are intertwined. It really is a gorgeous, heart-warming, gripping, moving, captivating, thought provoking, compelling and just absolutely stunning book filled with family, love, drama, sadness, relationships, heartache, new beginnings, dreams, hope and many more emotions. Shari has used an extremely wide range of characters with different ages, relationships, lifestyles and careers and brings them all together in an absolutely wonderful storyline. Not only are there are a wide range of characters but each and every one of them has their own unique personalities, from quirky to sarcastic, volatile to loyal, suave to straight talking. They all have their individual strengths, flaws and weaknesses and each and every single one of them come to life in front of your eyes as you turn the pages of this book thanks to Shari's stunning emotive and evocative writing skills. Along with the very helpful list of characters Shari also splits the storyline into different sections for each part of the day along with different chapters for each of our main protagonists which is another great way to avoid any confusion. This is definitely one of those books that will turn a frown upside down and make life seem a lot brighter. I absolutely LOVE the fact that we are told the story from so many perspectives as it means that we get to see a much bigger picture and learn more about how the different characters are feeling and acting about certain events and situations. Well, I think I have talked about this gorgeous book long enough so I will stop now rather than run the risk of giving too much of the storyline away and will let you discover what happens when you pick up your copy as I don't want to spoil anything for any future readers. However, I can promise you it will be a fun rollercoaster ride of drama, laughter and absolutely everything you could want in an absolutely unforgettable, laugh until you have tears streaming down your face, page turner!!!! Shari's evocative writing skills drew me deep into the book bringing the atmosphere and characters to life all around me. It is one of those books that I could not put down. I ended up walking around the house looking at my kindle reading away and absolutely devoured it in one sitting. I did not expect the twists and turns or the ending which is a HUGE bonus so congratulations Shari. I have started finding that many romance books have storylines that are too predictable and I am finding that I am guessing what is going to happen in most of them but I did not manage with this one so I am definitely looking forward to seeing if you can do the same in each of your pat and future books!!
Pick up this book, clear your schedules and get lost in this absolutely gorgeous page turner! I promise that you will NOT regret it!!!
Congratulations Shari on yet another absolutely stunning read that I just could not put down!!! I am looking forward to reading more of your previous and future books. I would absolutely love to see this book turned into a movie!!! This is the exact reason you are on favourite author list and here's to your next success 🥂
Overall an unputdownable, uplifting, heart-warming, poignant and just absolutely stunning book filled with family, tears, drama, romance, fun, laughter, friendship and so much more!!
While every one of the books in this "One" series can be read as a standalone, it is definitely enjoyable to have read them all as characters from the other books appear in each of the stories. This was no exception. There are some new characters of course m but there's also some friendly faces like Alice and Val. and mentions of Morag The four different POVS from the various times of the day really help to give you a complete overview from every angle and the changing of lives that can happen in an instant is evident from every one of those POVs. Shari has a knack for creating characters with depth and humor who face their challenges in realistic ways while still all being connected to each other This was well written, moving and entertaining I cant wait for the next one ‹

Overall an unputdownable, uplifting, heart-warming, poignant and just absolutely stunning book filled with family, tears, drama, romance, fun, laughter, friendship and so much more!!
This was a beautiful story of friendship, strong bonds and community. There are some real hard hitting moments with Domestic abuse, cheating and betrayal, this adds depth and makes the characters relatable and real. The emotions and feelings conveyed are written well and aren't out of place. It's very predictable but that's OK, it doesn't take away from the story , it's a really quick, heartfelt read.
I love Shari Low books and especially her "One" series. All the action takes place over 24 hours. Her characters are relatable, real and funny. It's like being with friends and family. I love how she brings previous characters into each installment, it's lovely to see what's happened in their lives since we last read about their story. A lovely, easy cosy read
I think this book is really a 3.5. However, I've decided to be a bit tougher with my reviews this year so I'm making it a 3
It was a quick read and fairly enjoyable. However, it wasn't a case where I needed to get to the next page as I was so engrossed. I enjoyed everyone's storylines and the roundness of them ending
This was another enjoyable read from an author who I really like! It's not really part of a series, but if you've read previous books by this author, you may recognise some of the characters featured in it. I really like how the author does this, as I find myself really liking certain characters in other books and it's nice to meet them again in other characters storylines. In this story we meet the four main characters of Kara, Alice, Zac and Ollie. They all have their own issues and problems, which unfold as the storyline moves on. The story is told over a 24 hour period and it was cleverly written to incorporate all the different characters stories without losing any of the pace.
All the characters are really likeable and we get to meet ones which we already know (you have to love Val!) I was drawn into the storyline very early on and found myself hooked into the book. It was easy to read despite all the different characters perspectives, and it was heart-warming with lots of emphasis on family and friendships. It certainly tugged at my heart-strings in a couple of places!! It was a little obvious where it was all heading, but it was a wonderful journey to get there and I love how the author always cleverly ties everything up by the turn of the last page. This was an emotional, warming and, at times, a humorous read which I thoroughly enjoyed! Would recommend!
It was ok read, but I have read better books by Shari Low. This one didn't impress me much. I felt that it was a bit rushed and with too many references to other stories of previous books.
Shari Low is an author whose books I will pick up immediately. She is a skilful stoyteller who can weave magic into words. Whatever genre she writes, it doesn't matter. 2 pages into the book I am reading at the time, and I am in the palm of her hand.
One Day and Forever introduces new character while bringing old characters back for me to invest in all over again. The way Shari Low tells a story ensures I make new friends whenever I read one of her books. That's how it feels anyway. The tiniest details ensure I always take every character to my heart in one way or another. That's the charm for me with this authors books. I never want to leave whichever world Shari Low has written about at that moment.
The fact that she writes about what seems like normal lives has me engaged so easily. I want to read and take my time to savour it. Alas, it never happens. I'm that immersed. I read it so quickly! Too quickly. This is one of those books, I read it over a day, then regretted finishing it so fast. The worst part is waiting for the next one to be published.
If you love bingeable fiction with characters you don't want to leave and a plot that is all the more believable, pick up this book. You will not regret it! Thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the gifted ebook to write my honest review .
These books of Shari Low’s which take place over the course of 24 hours are my favourite of hers. I absolutely loved this one. We meet a new set of characters but there are references to some we have met previously. I always enjoy it when the previous characters pop up again.
Every action of the main characters is shown at different stages of the day. As always I’m wiling these characters to make the best decisions and I know that I always say it but these books always affect me. I find myself crying one minute then laughing the next. I also felt a very strong dislike for one of the characters too.
If you are new to the author I highly recommend her books. This one is a perfect one to start with. I’m already eagerly awaiting her next book.
Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources for having me on the tour and to the publisher for my gifted ebook.
shari low books are so fun to me. i needed a palate cleanser after 2 heavy heavy books. shari always fits the bill without being stupid or too fluffy. her characters have depth and it’s a fun story to read. she’s a quicker read too.
sweet story about chance encounters, digging in for the truth and listening to yourself. she typically wraps everything up in a glittery bow and while not always plausible or believable… i really like her writing style! shari’s style always easy to read and engaging and one i’ll turn to for a cleanser or pick me up.
I loved the premise of this book - the way a single day can change your life.
In this story we get to see how four people’s lives are upended and what the aftermath is for all of them. This story, like all of Shari’s books is character driven and kind of feels like a warm hug. I definitely recommend.
I absolutely adored this book. Shari Low is a fantastic author and gets every book perfect. I love the drama, the love and the fun. The charm is fantastic. Every single character you fall in love with and I love how they are all intertwined. I never get bored of her books. Great author. Absolutely great book again
One Day and Forever is another charming read from Shari Low. I love how she cleverly entwines the stories of each of characters, meaning I was fully invested in each of their lives from the very beginning. Every couple of hours of the day showing their lives, their loves, their losses and hopes all shown through the little glimpses of these stories. Every relationship is shown through the glimpses of the day, and the impact of actions and words amplified in the timescales written. Shari always has such great settings for her stories too - the use of the airport, the immediacy of travel pushing people together and also apart is cleverly used through the timeline. A thoroughly entertaining read from Shari and definitely one to enjoy.
I loved this book! Shari Low is the best at writing dramas with well-developed characters that make you feel every emotion. It was so hard to put this book down and go do things I needed to do!
Another great "one day" story by Shari Low. Loved the characters, some new and old. For those of you that have read many of Shari's books you will be familiar with Val. This book has humour, drama, sadness and romance. Fantastic read.
Another enchanting read from Low. One day divided amongst different time slots and a few different characters. I followed Kara’s and Zac’s parts the closest. I liked their synergy and how each looked for each other in airports all the time. Low always provided a good story. Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the advance copy.
