They’ll have to get through me first.

JULIET

My world is small and predictable—that’s how I’ve designed it. It doesn’t extend beyond my tiny studio apartment, the local bagel shop, and the bookstore I manage.

So, when a mysterious man crashes into the shop late one night while I’m doing inventory, I should be terrified.

But I’ve never reacted normally to danger.

And this man is as dangerous as they come… at least, for my heart.

ROMEO

The Mafia is my family—the only thing I’ve ever known and all I’ve ever needed.

Until her.

Our worlds aren’t meant to collide. My life is darkness and she is light, but I can’t stay away any longer.

When her life is in danger, the darkness within me bursts to the forefront.

We might be star-crossed lovers, but no one will keep me from my Juliet.

His Juliet is a spicy, dual first-person POV Mafia Romance with an age gap, hurt/comfort, mental illness rep, and jealous/possessive hero obsessed with his girl. This book is a standalone that ends in a HEA. See Author’s Note at the beginning of the book for full content warnings.

This is the second book in a mafia series, after His Tesoro. His Tesoro was the best mafia romance I’d read in a while. It wasn’t anything unique, but it used its ingredients well, and had a good blend of sweetness, angst and conflict. This second book is meh. I still like this series overall, and will continue it, but this book is forgettable. It was too much sweetness, and not enough other flavors to keep it interesting. Everything felt insipid.

Romeo (38) is in the mafia. He’s the right hand man of the hero from the first book. Juliet is like 24 and works in a bookstore. (Yes, it's dumb that their names are Romeo and Juliet - they make jokes about it, but still). They meet, and it’s pretty much insta-love. This doesn’t have the tension, angst, and relationship development that the first book had. I hate insta-love, so I was bored with their relationship, and not feeling their chemistry. It felt surface-level. Romeo has never fallen for a woman or done relationships before. So, why her? Why this woman in particular? Why now? The book never shows us that. So, in the manner of poorly written books, the answer to those questions is, “Just Because! Because that’s the plot!”

Their relationship development was so boring and shallow- especially compared to the first book - that it made me doubt my love for the first book. I was like, "Am I crazy? Maybe this author isn't good and I hallucinated that the first book was good?"

Juliet had a bad case of “the most painfully generic romance heroine personality.” She was basically just a pile of trauma, who was also sweet, curvy, and loved books. That is the most lazily written type of romance heroine! Come on! Give her some personality aside from “sweet” and “trauma” and “likes books.” At one point, she even calls herself just trauma in a trench coat, or something. And Romeo is like, “of course that’s not true, don’t put yourself down like that!!!” But….it is true. Because this book didn’t bother developing her enough beyond that.

He comes across as mainly liking her only because a) he finds her hot, and b) he likes that she’s needy. The first book struck a better balance between “he’s her caretaker but also her partner.” This one felt too much like she can’t function and needs him to look after her and isn’t an equal partner. And he seemed weirdly into that, in a way that felt unexamined.

She also has no ambition and is aimless, just passively letting the plot happen to her. Every other woman in this book is a badass in some way, even when they don't need to leave their home to do it: Sofiya can shoot guns and has language skills. Sienna is a hacker. Leona is an assassin / spy. There’s a female crime lord at one point. And then there’s Juliet…who spends over half of this book sitting around Romeo’s apartment like a bump on a log, just waiting for him to come home, in scene after repetitive scene. Then, she’s a damsel in distress. She has no real goals in life. She doesn’t even have her bookstore job at the end. She’s literally doing nothing all day, and doesn't seem to want to change that. Why should I like a heroine like that? A book has to give me a reason to like her, aside from “because she’s the heroine.” Make her interesting!

Her ailment (agoraphobia) is also less dramatically compelling than the first book heroine’s ailment (which was a rare chronic illness that made her need a wheelchair). I’m not dissing people with IRL agoraphobia. But that’s hard to write in fiction in a way that’s interesting. This book didn’t pull it off.

This book also does something I hate, which is to diminish a character from an earlier book, just to make the plot work. There’s a reveal involving Juliet’s background. But it doesn’t make any sense why that’s a surprise – Matteo (the Don, who’s the hero from the first book), makes a big deal out of how she's an outsider to the mafia world, so it's a big deal that she's joining it. Why didn’t he have a full background check done on her, then? That makes him look stupid, and it didn’t make sense.

This wasn’t all bad. It was fun to see the side characters again. The first book’s couple got some cute moments. This mafia world and its characters are fun and likable, overall. I hope the first book’s heroine’s brother, Dimitri, gets a book. I can’t wait till Leona the assassin gets a book (maybe she’ll be his heroine). It also looks like Angelo’s heroine may be one of the sex trafficking victims they rescued. That could be interesting, IF this author gets better at writing a traumatized heroine who has a personality beyond “trauma + liking exactly 1 hobby.”

This is one of my most anticipated Mafia Romances of 2025, and I'm happy to say it was definetly worth the wait! This Romeo and Juliet inspired tale was full of twists and turns. You may not see it when it first begins.... but it all kinda falls into place as you continue on.

I loved Juliet and her shy, introverted life in the book store. Though she does suffer from Agoraphobia and anxiety, so it's not all because she just enjoys peace. There are horrors in her past. Some that she remembers vividly, and others that are repressed.

Romeo is pretty fun loving and jovial, for a Made Man anyway. When he stumbles into Juliet's bookstore, where she's working late at night, their lives will never be the same. There's just something that pulls them together and keeps Romeo coming back again and again.

But he's still connected to very dark things, with many enemies, and if he's not careful, he could lead those enemies right to Juliet's door.

This story had another absolute simp of a hero. Romeo would walk over broken glass for Juliet and watching him do a million little and BIG things to woo her, was really beautiful. I was so caught up in them.

I think we spend a lot of time watching them fall in love, and then conflict and plot kinda overwhelm the story. However, I was always compelled to continue and I loved all the little nods to their namesakes that kept me locked in.

I'm really excited about His Empress and the teases for what more is to come. There were also plenty of cameos and connections to His Tesoro, and I loved seeing everyone come together to help Juliet. I'm really impressed with this author and I look forward to more from her.

Oh Romeo.

There is so much to unpack in this book. We get to watch two people who deserve to be loved to find each other and watch them fall madly in love with the other in the most wholesome fashion.

Their first time meeting each other was not expected for Juliet and it was all because Romeo was trying to stay hidden for the night and ended up in the bookstore Juliet works at.

They bond and talk. There is something so sweet about the way he was with Juliet and treated her. He was kind and patient. All he wanted was for her was the best.

Sadly, Juliet has had a tough life, and the last two years have been a nightmare. After the worst night of her life where she was drugged and raped, her best friend killed herself, leaving Juliet unable to leave her apartment and needing to stick to her routine or else she lost herself. She was also self-harmed and had many scars to prove it.

As an orphan she never could rely on anyone and for Romeo to become her protector was what she needed.

But of course, not everything can be all fun and games, Romeo and co are dealing with an enemy who is evading them at every turn and when he finally shows up, we find out the insane thread that connects our Juliet with our Romeo.

Juliet is revealed to being the Albanian mafia princess whose parents were killed by her uncle (a triplet - hence why he was able to evade and trick everyone). She's kidnapped and almost forced to get married to a fossil but thankfully Romeo finds her, but she is helped by her aunt who has had enough of the men in their family taking control and has them all eliminated (which was such a great moment).

We end their story with them getting married and living their best life.

✨Arc Review ✨

I was excited to get my hands on this after reading "His Tesero" and I am here to say I truly devoured the relationship between both Romeo and Juliet! The love and passion they had for one another was beautiful especially since they were the complete opposite in terms of personality but I love how much of a simp Romeo was🥰. They each were able to bring out an element that brought peace into each other's lives and I am happy they were able to get a happy ending. Alsoooooooo I love seeing Sofiya and Matteo as parents🥹.Overall I am excited for the next book and I am love this series and the found family aspect ☺️

★★★. I’m upset? First off, a big thanks to the author for giving recognition to agoraphobia and the difficulties someone with that illness people struggle with. I did like this book and how it was written. The author does write very well and includes a plot in this mafia series instead of focusing on just the couple. The found family aspect and mental health recognition is my favorite part.

While I did love this book and how down bad Romeo was for Juliet I felt like so much was missing. With the last one I felt that love and adoration from both sides grow and this one felt like all instalust/love. There was no third act when there should have been multiple times. I felt like Juliet was being like not childish but almost like she couldn’t do anything by herself. I think I went in with so much more expectations and that’s on me completely yet I still feel disappointed by this.

The trauma Juliet went through right from childhood and then developing agoraphobia was handled well. I do hate how she never went to therapy or that we didn’t see it. It would’ve been a fabulous opportunity for that. I felt as if all of Juliet’s trauma was healed with Romeo. It was mentioned that isn’t the case yet reading Juliet depended on him so much for just leaving the apartment it made think the opposite. She’s such a strong character and her growth was there but every-time she grew, something happened and it reverted her to be more dependent. She was working at the bookstore and Romeo demanded she couldn’t for her safety but then she never went back? And yes that was because of her agoraphobia but she was perfectly okay to do other things so I’m just confused by it. In the beginning, she had a job she loved and then by the end she was just Romeo’s wife it seemed to me.

Romeo’s trauma was just as bad. I liked him a lot. I felt for him and what he went through. I’m glad he got that healing part at the end with his mom. He was down bad for Juliet and did everything for her. I hated how aloof he was with the mafia part and I guess because Juliet didn’t want to know he didn’t share but still. His pushing away didn’t bother me, i just wish he pushed more for the angst aspect. He fell for her right away. I liked how he recognized it too and didn’t play that whole “we’re just friends”.

My biggest pet peeve with this book was the mini I guess third act where Romeo pretended to not know Juliet which then led her to self harm after being clean of it for years. It was such a horrifying scene to read how Juliet relapsed because of what Romeo was saying (to protect her she didn’t know). Yet he was forgiven right away? I’m not saying it’s his fault she ultimately relapsed but his words and actions triggered her so why is he being forgiven in the next chapter and she’s apologizing? Why were they jumping into bed right away after as well? She needed to heal more on herself instead of forgiving him and being with him. He immediately moved her into his place (for her protection) but that caused a panic attack and I felt like that shouldn’t have happened right after this scene.

For my safety people, safe. Romeo is a past playboy. It’s mentioned a few times. He’s been with both men and women. Once he meets Juliet, he never is with anyone else. Juliet was assaulted for her first time and after that she didn’t do anything.

“I need you to stay safe, stellina. I mean it.”
She smiled. “I will.”

REVIEW
Okay, I’m not going to lie. I did roll my eyes a little bit when I read the blurb and saw that the main characters names were Romeo & Juliet. However, the “coincidence” doesn’t take itself too seriously and addresses the absurdity of it, so perhaps my eye roll was a bit hypercritical.

Much like His Tesoro, the representation of chronic illness in His Juliet is treated with consideration and care. With that being said, I did feel that Juliet’s coping and recovery was too dependent on Romeo. I don’t like to think about after the HEA, but here I just couldn’t stop wondering about the future. There’s a very real possibility that Romeo will die before Juliet, and then what happens to her? It was just frustrating because I know that’s not at all how it was meant to come across with how hard Juliet had fought for herself and her independence.

I did find the main characters (and the side characters) very lovable. I’m a sucker for a possessive mmc who is wrapped around the fmc’s finger. Romeo was so mushy while also being a rock. Juliet’s kindness and warmth made their pairing feel balanced. Romeo was protective of her, and Juliet was protective of him right back.

Emilia Rossi’s writing has the comfortability of being familiar while also being unique. I foresee (manifesting here) this being the beginning of a long and well-loved series. I almost wish I hadn’t found it this early so that I didn’t have to leave this world quite so soon. But alas, I am experiencing it in real-time where I’m eagerly counting down the days until the next release.

“I’ve got the most gorgeous girl in the world on my lap. Of course I’m fucking hard. I’m always hard around you.”

I didn't even bother reading the epilogue. This may work for some as comfort Mafia romance but it just wasn't for me. I'm done trying Emilia Rossi, she's not for me. I love fluffy feel good romances but this was just a huge heaping mountain of cotton candy fluff, syrupy goop with sprinkles on top and nothing else. Her writing is just way too syrupy that it reads like fanfic with all the purple prose and flat characterizations. No one talks this way. The insta-love happens within seconds where a smitten obsessed hero is mooning over the heroine and wanting to fix all her problems in the blink of an eye. I was willing to overlook it because the heroine having a phobia was interesting (and a hero with a pierced dick?! yoohoo woo-hoo let's go! lol) but omg the dialogue. 😖 The cheesy sweet talk was just too much. Every “baby” “angel” “sweetheart” cutesy pet name that exists comes pouring out of every orifice of the hero by the 30% mark and I was officially over it. And for anyone who knows me, I hate the pet name “sweetheart" it's so patronizing and creepy especially when used so frequently. The way he talks to her like a child all the time and carries her around like a koala baby just isn't cute to me. Or realistic. If a guy talked this way IRL I would be sick of him after 1 day. I love care-taking heroes, but lord have mercy the incessant baby talking and smothering killed it for me. It may be some people's comfort fluff and sweet spot but it's not mine. I'm not built like that but to each their own. 🤷🏻‍♀️ For a Mafia dude, he was much too flawless and I have zero interest in that.
“I’m not sure you’re even going to fit.”
“Oh Juliet, don’t you know by now? You were made for me.”

“Yes, Juliet. You’re living in my home, have taken up residence in my fucking soul. Of course you’re mine.”

“Fuck, Juliet. Five minutes without your voice is way too long.”

All I could think about was how soft Juliet’s skin was, how good her hair smelled. She’d looked so perfect today. Felt so perfect. She was perfect.

And this is supposed to be an age gap, the hero Romeo is 38 to Juliet's 25 but he didn't come off like a 38 year old. I need authors to stop writing immature characters cosplaying as 30-40s adults. It's not fooling anyone. Romeo sounded and acted more like a guy in his early 20's which completely ruins the whole "age gap" mirage. The playboy gregarious charm, sugary talk and video game playing and "holy shit!" reactions to stuff...... it just wasn't convincing for me at all. He came off like a walking pinterest board full of cutesy inspirational quotes. And while I appreciated the author's attempt at writing a heroine with agoraphobia, the heroine Juliet was written so weak and passive. This girl is as weak as tissue paper that a small breeze would knock her over. All the sniffling and chin wobbles, the endless “nobody would pick me” low self-esteem, asking for simple things is so difficult that every request ends with "if it's not too much work for you", the codependency and attachment to a guy she meets overnight (and only knows his first name and believes Romeo isn't even his "real" name). She's so naive she doesn't think the mafia is real or understand rent increase. It was just way too much. I'm seeing reviews praising the heroine's growth, I didn't see any growth here when she relied on the hero for everything till the very end. The character growth here is zero. At least in Book 1 we got to see the heroine stand up for herself and have agency, here not even that. I mean therapy? Never heard of her. The love of a sexy Mafia man with a pierced dick has magically healed her and all her trauma. 🙄 I'm fine with imperfect and messy just give me the feels but Juliet's extreme codependency on Romeo was a little bit much and didn't really feel healthy to me.
“I could have done that,” I said.
“But why, when you have me to do it for you?”

And oh yeah, did I mention he literally inserts a TRACKER chip under her skin as a "gift"? O_o Oh look, he got a matching one too y'all! Sooooo sweet and healing right? They can keep track of each other all the time. Like dogs. Please. Gag me.

Nothing about this book is my definition of comfort romance.

Let me tell you I eat this book up. We have Romeo who is doing a job and is trying to hide and this is were he meets Juliet who runs a book store he sorta keeps her hostage to hide from an enemy. They eat pizza and learn about one another. And let me tell you Romeo is in loveeeeee lol. But like all dumb men he does mess up big time. And he does push her away wanting to be friends because of his life style aka mafia life lol. I did want to kick him many times. When he didn’t think what he did hurt his Juliet. As for her omg I wanted to hug her to pieces because all she’s been though. My brave FMC. She has Agoraphobia and it’s pretty bad. 😭😭😭she only goes to few places that are her safe places. And Romeo is becoming a safe space. But with the enemy closing in they target Juliet and that’s a big no no for Romeo.

The brotherhood I love them. I don’t think I’ll read book one since someone said he is a manwhore? But in this book I love the friendship and the brotherish with Juliet and Matteo.. 😭😊
There is a moment where I did think I was going to dnf because what Juliet did to herself.
I won’t say but I’ll leave in the triggers.

Low angst, no ow/om drama, no cheating, drama, secondary charas, sexy times, no virgins.

His Juliet is the 2nd book in the Empire of Royals mafia romance series, the books are interconnected standalones but you’ll definitely get more out of the series and the characters if you read them in order. This is an age gap, forced proximity, mafia romance, with hurt/comfort, healing from trauma, mental health rep (heroine has agoraphobia), found family, and a morally grey hero who is obsessed with the heroine!

Romeo is the second-in-command to Matteo, the head of the New York Italian mafia family (the hero of the first book in the series). The story kicks off with Romeo on the run and looking for a spot to hideout for a bit, he falls into the bookstore that Juliet manages and they end up spending hours together there. Both immediately fall for one another, she’s a bit more hesitant but he’s absolutely obsessed with her and wanting to take care of her and gift her things. Juliet has agoraphobia and I liked seeing all the caretaking Romeo easily starts doing for her. Very quickly Juliet gets pulled into danger herself and Romeo is perfectly happy whisking her away to his home to keep her safe.

I really loved the first book in the series, so that one is still my favorite, but this was another solid addition to the series. We get lots of mafia action, cute pets, lots of caretaking, and major found family vibes. The couple in this one definitely fall hard and fast and their relationship was easy and comforting. More of the mafia world for the series opened up in this one and I’m excited for the next book with characters we’ve seen already!

CW: mental health illness representation, including agoraphobia, panic attacks, and self-harm (cutting). Discussions of a past drugging and rape, of parents being murdered, and of a friend’s suicide. There is on-page violence, gore, kidnapping, torture, sex trafficking, drugging, attempted sexual assault, and anti-fat bias.

Easily my favourite book of the month!

https://www.instagram.com/p/DJAIP7_zr...

This was even better than His Tesoro and I loved that one so much.
Romeo and Juliet was everything!

From their first unexpected meeting to the epilogue I was hooked. My most favourite thing about this book was the banter! God, I loved their back and forth.
Their relationship was so cute and I enjoyed how they first became friends then lovers.
I loved the plot too. Especially the backstory of Juliet. It added so much spice (not that spice) to the book.

Matteo was as usual terrific and little Clementine was the cutest. Sofiya and Sienna were such a sweethearts and I loved them (and noodles) with Juliet. The trio was cutest.

I hope it’s Angelo’s book next. We already have a title and I’m so excited about it!

-Mafia Romance.
-He falls first.
-Banter is bantering🔥!
-Mental health rep, healing from trauma.
-Morally grey hero x Curvy FMC.
-Touch her and die.
-Could be read as standalone, TW, KU and safe.
-Highly recommended.

I received an advance review copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

Infinity Read!!!!!

This is a Shakespeare retelling as Mafia romance with tropes like found family, mental health rep, curvy fmc, down bad mmc, and touch her & die.

No joke, I'll read anything this author writes! I have absolutely loved this new mafia romance from page one of the first book and book two hit/surpassed every expectation I had for it!

I love mafia romances with an overprotective and possessive mmc, so this definitely delivered with Romeo as the mmc. We first met Romeo in "His Tesoro" (recommend reading first but definitely can be standalones) and I fell in love with his lighter personality as the enforcer to stoic and strict mafia Don, Matteo. Romeo's jokester side definitely continued in this book, but we got a much deeper look into him and saw that he has a very dark side as well as some trauma pushed far down that causes him to dig himself into a lonely personal life outside the Family.

As for Romeo's fair rose, Juliet was an fmc I related to so much (unfortunately). Her struggles with mental illness and self-harm were very close to my own. It made me feel a tight connection to her from the moment she appeared on page. I especially loved, though, how the author had her sparky and bratty personality shine through even when Juliet thought of herself as nothing more than broken. We as the reader got glimpses of more and it was so beautiful to read Juliet's journey with healing and seeing herself in the way both we and Romeo (and other characters) do.

The chemistry between these two was fire! I loved how it was a slow burn but at same time didn't feel like it, if that makes sense? Slow on them actually being together, but the tension and yearning was so much that I didn't even notice! Romeo and Juliet are very much a ying/yang couple and that dynamic served both of them so well -- Romeo brought love, family, and laughter into Juliet's self-doubt darkness & Juliet brought calm and light into Romeo's self-imposed darkness from his line of work. They both had trauma to process and the way they helped each other made me feel so much love!

Overall, I cannot recommend this book (and series) enough! The way the side characters (especially main characters from book one) were utilized really make you feel the found family aspect and the morally grey parts from the mafia setting were perfect for me. Even better - no 3rd act breakup, just a badass 3rd act saving!

I cannot wait for the future books in this series and to dive further into more characters' lives and personalities! Thank you a million Emilia for the chance to read early with the e-ARC. Review is my own opinion.

look.

If you suggesting ‘hurt/comfort’, ‘mental illness rep’, ‘anti-fat bias’, and if your h's characterization is about ‘body insecurity’ and ‘self-harm (cutting)’, then you have to write at least a scene where H is giving her physical pain she demands, just to tip her into bliss while telling her how fucking beautiful she is. You decide if there is knife play or not, if he licks her blood or not, if he whispers or growls. After that I don't care if he keeps telling her 'good girl'.

Yeah he did lick her blood and told her beautiful through her scars but, what is the point of all these micro tropes then?

Anyway. He sobs when she is in pain, gets excited and nervous which makes him fidget when waiting for her replies, and also he is crocheting to relax, until her 🥲

“I can’t wait for you to trust me and start demanding shit.”

Yes they are Romeo and Juliet and yes he said that they're star-crossed lovers, and calls her stellina-little star 🤤
And it's ridiculously insta-love.
Do I mind, no.

His grip on my hair tightened. “Don’t speak badly about yourself.”

I was a bit upset about all mafia shit and how the Butcher (bad guy) and Albenians manage to fool them but at the end I'm convinced. However I'm left unsatisfied with the lack of 'taking-care-with-spicy' stuff so I'm lowering my rate.

but for the love of God, there is no way she would have a 'fucking soft' hair if it had that much processed

If you love mafia romance, with a spin on the Romeo/Juliet love story, then you’ll fall in love with His Juliet!

Romeo is the underboss of the Italian mafia. While on the run during a mission, he ends up hiding out in the bookstore where Juliet works. From there, he is obsessed with her, and can’t stop himself from being her friend, and ultimately her lover. Unfortunately, she has no idea what he truly does for work, and watching her find out was a journey!

I wanted to wrap Juliet in my arms and give her a squeeze. She’s been through so much trauma in her life, and Romeo’s patience allowed her to open up and enjoy some of life’s pleasures. For a Made Man, Romeo was a teddy bear when it came to his Juliet.

The mafia plot was great and I enjoyed the twists the story took! I loved seeing Matteo/Sofiya (His Tesoro) and the rest of the mafia family again. There’s a great found family vibe developing in this series and I can’t wait for the next book!

What to Expect: mafia romance, hurt/comfort, mental health rep, found family, morally grey hero, heroine/hero with traumatic past, fun meet cute

Content Warnings - please read the author’s content warnings at the beginning of the book for more info on the mental health rep as it may be triggering for some.

I love how Emilia Rossi weaves the dark and dangerous world of the mafia with excellent mental health rep. Juliet has agoraphobia and history of self harm. She has her safe spaces that she can go to, the bagel shop next to her apartment building and the bookstore she runs. Romeo is the underboss and hides his dark side behind a smirk and unapologetic charm. They have an unconventional meet cute when Romeo is trying to hide from someone and decides to go into a closed bookstore, only to find Juliet working late. He holds her “hostage” so he can hide out all night. They eat pizza and play a drinking game of truth or dare. She doesn’t want to get attached because everyone always leaves. They start a friendship, they text and have late night phone calls. Romeo doesn’t want to drag her into his world, but can’t stay away. Then he doesn’t get a choice when he finds out he’s already put her in danger. He goes to get her and takes her to his apartment. Romeo is so patient and caring with Juliet, he does everything he can to help with her anxiety and agoraphobia. The mouth on this man…the way he sweet talks, the caring words, and the dirty talking will have you swooning.

A Few Favorite Quotes:
“Her cheeks flushed pink. “Juliet.” I couldn’t stop my wide smile. No f*king way. “Juliet, I believe this night was written in the stars. I’m Romeo.””

“If she thought finding me a book was going to make me go away, she was absolutely mistaken. I felt alive when I was in Juliet’s presence and didn’t have the strength to leave.”

“You’re not dysfunctional, and you never have to hide your struggles with me.”

“The longer I was away from her, the more sure I became in my decision—I wanted more with her. I wanted her to be mine.”

“You make the bad feelings go away,” she murmured against my skin.”

““You bring the starlight into my life, stellina, and chase all the shadows away.”

“How had I gone from a lonely, solitary life as an agoraphobic bookseller to being the girlfriend of the underboss of the Italian Mafia?”

I devoured this. I loved His Tesoro so much I wasn't quite sure if I could love this one as much but it's actually my new favorite of the two.

Juliet is just incredible. She's so real and a really good representation of how isolating and alone agoraphobia can make you feel. My heart broke for her so many times I just wanted to hug her.

Romeo was so precious. He was always so sweet and patient with Juliet he just wanted to help her and give her the whole world. I loved him letting his guard down and realizing that he deserved love and care too. They're just so freaking sweet together my heart can't handle it.

The best part about all of it was the mental health rep. You can tell that a lot of care and thought went into it. It depicts what someone who self harms can really feel like and how hard it can be to push the thoughts away. How it can be isolating and make you feel embarrassed and like you aren't deserving of love or attention. Definitely mind your triggers as there is a chapter with on page self harm.

Thank you to the author for the gifted arc

Oookaaaayy this was gooood, maybe even better than the first one. Emotional, funny and smutty. The way Romeo was the biggest softie for/with her? just hits the spot, as usual, but still… I feel like something was lacking but I can’t pinpoint what so I’m giving it 4 ⭐️ maybe 4.5 JUST for that pierced 🐓 because GODDDDDDAAAAAMNNN 😮‍💨🔥🥵

The fmc has such debilitating agoraphobia that she cannot deviate from her daily routine and has a panic attack when she has to take a different route to work, yet she does not panic when she’s kidnapped and taken overseas? She’s just…sad?

There were a lot of small plot holes and repetition in this book, and it could and should have been shorter🥲

I love a bad boy falling so hard for the sweet girl!
They both fell quickly for each other but still had a great development to their feelings.
The portrayal of Juliet’s personal struggles was so well written, absolutely gives all the feels. And there were twists I didn't see coming that kept me right on the edge of my seat!
