Rate this book

Mitch Carrington has a peculiar hobby for a grown He collects dolls. He loves them all, from Sindy to The Cabbage Patch Kids. Vintage, modern, rare or common, he does not discriminate. Mitch’s bedroom is stuffed full of his most treasured dollies.

Mitch has six bedrooms in total – one for him and his doll collection, with the other five reserved for his most prized possessions of all; his special Dolly Birds. One girl per room. Each girl unique. Mitch doesn’t have a type, he just likes to cover all the doll bases. He loves the hourglass proportions of Barbie equally as much as the chubby baby proportions of Tiny Tears.

He loves them all, very, very much...

Sadly, his special girls don’t always survive their extreme dollification makeovers. Such plastic surgery can be extremely taxing on the human body.

Mitch has a vacancy to fill, and he has his eye on the beautiful Katie Richards – a teacher at the school where he works as a janitor.

Katie has no idea what evil lies in wait for her in Mitch’s doll house of horrors. It will be a battle for survival like no other...

This is an extreme horror novella. Reader discretion is advised.

Would have been 5 stars if not for the ending. Felt a little rushed and lacking the imagination that was in the first 80% of this story.
I loved the concept of the Doll house and the characters within. Their descriptions were jarring.

TRAUMATIZED

Finished this in one sitting & im freaking sure I'll be getting nightmares for a long time.

This is not a book for the faint of heart—it is an unflinching descent into the darkest corners of obsession, control, and the human body as a canvas for monstrosity. At just over 130 pages, this extreme horror novella wastes no time pulling readers into the nightmare of Mitch Carrington, a seemingly ordinary janitor whose ordinary façade masks an extraordinary sickness.
He likes to collect dolls...alot of dolls but
THEY'RE NOT JUST DOLL.

If you think you know "horror" READ THIS.
But if you’re the kind of reader who thrives on the dark, twisted, and grotesquely creative—this novella might be right up your alley.
If you’re into extreme horror, this is a disturbing little gem. If you’re not, it’ll probably scar you. Either way, it’s unforgettable...
pure nightmare fuel, but not for everyone.

This gave me the feels of an extreme version of AHS Stories Dollhouse episode ( I think that's what it was called). And when I say it's extreme, I mean it's extreme. And fun. Very entertaining and creative. Stayed up too late to finish this one because I just had to know how it ended. I'd give it 10 stars if I could

This was ok for me. Definitely sacrificed a great deal of potential plot points and character development, all for body horror. So, fans of strict body horrors will have fun here. But it all kind of left me a bit disappointed. I was into the premise and the bare bones set up and all that, but none of it went anywhere. Just torture and gore. That was about it. The ending, specifically, felt really rushed and insignificant, even after all that build up. Mitch and Katie could have had a much deeper and troubling connection, amongst all that unpleasantness, and I would have been glued to this. Not a bad read, but I would taper expectations going in.

All the pretty dolls by Sam West

When I saw there was another book coming based off Mitch and this book I had to re-do my review ready! This has got to be up there with one of my favourite reads this year! I devoured this in one go!!

Mitch has an obsession with dolls, so much so that he has created his own collection of living dolls. His own dolly birds. Changing the features of each woman to exact replicas of his favourites. The plastic surgery he does on these girls is absolutely horrific & the modifications…grim. We are talking a living brats doll with the huge head and bulging lips, a baby doll with amputated limbs & a barbie s/x doll…when he kidnaps his last victim Katie hoping to turn her into a ballerina doll she is not ready to be like the others & fights back.

This was horrific, the things he did to these women…honestly one of the roughest reads I had but the morbid curiosity meant I could not stop reading! There were times I had to question myself. It was rough but so brilliantly done

It was 5⭐️ for me & I cannot wait to see what happens in the next release!

Check your triggers!!

I really really liked this book. It has a unique concept and I couldn't put it down. Some of the things the "Daddy" did just made my skin crawl. The opening to the book just reels you in so fast. Defiantly one of my top favorite books I've read this year and looking forward to reading more by Sam West.

Ooh, I liked this weird little horror story 😈 My first time reading Sam West, and I already know it won’t be my last. All The Pretty Dolls is short, sharp, and deeply unsettling in that deliciously extreme way that makes you wonder, “Should I be enjoying this?” (Answer: yes. yes, you should.)

It’s grotesque, bizarre, and oddly captivating, like watching a nightmare unfold in slow motion. Sam West doesn’t just write horror; he throws you into the madness, and I loved every twisted second of it.

🩸 If you like stories that make you squirm and question your sanity a little, this one’s for you.

Reminded me of American horror stories but extreme!
Yeah fun read. Would have given more stars if the ending was a bit better. Felt a little rushed

This book was FANTASTIC!!
The only thing that I didn’t like was the ending.
He just happened to have a heart attack while they were walking down the stairs?
I wish the author could have come up with something better.

Daddy took care of her pain– and he made her call him Daddy, the best her missing tongue- tip would allow.

Bratty- Doll, Barbara- Doll and Crybaby- Doll. These were three girls brutalized, disfigured, assaulted and tortured by Mitch Carrington, a local janitor and a monster all in one. Employed at Broadgate High, he began obsessing over art teacher Katie Richards almost immediately, and would nurture that obsession for months leading into he captivity. While attending a faculty mandated party, she fought off the advances of Death Heathgraves, another teacher at her school. Meanwhile, Mitch continued watching her from a distance, garage billowing in his stomach as he recalled how she treated the present he gifted to her. A fourteen inch tall doll, holding a striking resemblance to her while missing it's foot. Disgusted and terrified by his odd behavior, she pushed back to return it back to him. Angry at her, he knew her time free was coming closer to an end. The night of that party he waited in the backseat of her car where he drugged her and left her to wake up confused in his mansion in the woods. Too far for anyone to hear her screaming, she didn't waste time running and hunting for the exit. This is when she laid eyes on the deformity which was Bratty-Doll, a woman whose head was significantly larger than her smaller, petite body now. Warning her running would end badly, Katie-Doll has no idea just how badly it'll get.

It was just easier to play along. When she was a good girl, she was praised. But, when she was bad, she was punished. One time, he had wrenched off one of her hateful plastic arms and then anally raped her with said appendage. Thankfully, it had just been with the relatively small baby fist– perhaps as big as a toddler’s hand– but she had learned her lesson. Yet, he had done worse things than that to her. She didn’t like to court those thoughts; they came of their own accord, whenever they wanted to.

Within her first day in his captivity, Katie went through the amputation of her right foot without any anesthesia or pain medication. Determined to make her the exact replica of the doll he tried to gift her, it unfortunately would maim her in the process. After weeks of recovery and depression, she knows her only chances of survival come from playing into this role so perfectly. When she first met the other dolls in a staged tea party, they tried to warn her of the danger she was in, but it'll cost them their lives in the process. Barabra-Dolly, a favorite of his for sexual abuse and torture, would be killed as he inserted a twenty inch diameter sex toy into her backside. Alive through the ordeal, she died in horrific pain while Katie-Doll was forced to watch it all. His favorite, she was the only one obligated to call him by his name, the others forced to call him Daddy. After weeks kept inside, luck would finally be on her side as he began suffering a fatal heart attack in front of her. Leaving him to die, it gave her the opportunity to escape and begin making a name for herself as an artist. Capitalizing off of the doll art she painted, she's made a name for herself but it'll never let her actually feel safe again.

“How’s my baby girl? How’s my pretty baby? Does baby need milkies? Does baby have poopoo in her bum bum?” “Goo goo, ga ga.” “Pretty baby, sweet baby, come to Daddy.”

First off, if you're new to extreme horror, this book could theoretically serve as a decent introduction the genre.

Second, this book sucked.

Truthfully, I kept psyching myself out with it, downloading it and returning it multiple times, but the further I got into it, the more I realized that this book really doesn't have much going for it in the way of gore, plot, or pretty much anything else. It's easy to get yourself spooked and uneasy, and that did happen to me, but the more I read, the more I realized that this story wasn't anything particularly compelling or realistic in any way.

The ending itself was also insanely abrupt. Almost like the author gave up on writing anything else, even though what was written already lacked substance to begin with. It didn't feel particularly real, nor satisfying whatsoever. Just a quick tidy ending.

All in all, this was just lame and my reactions came from me hyping myself up, only to be let down. 1 star.

Amazingly good

I will never look at a doll the same now. Dolls can be a bit gruesome and freaky at the best of times, but wow this story is a whole new.level of freaky dolls. A young school teacher and painter is happy enjoying life. The school where she teaches, katie is getting to know the rest of the staff on a more personal level. But things aren't all as they seem in the all the staff.
This is a compelling read that had me gripped from the get go. It captivated you and draws you into the macabre world where dolls are everything. But not just normal every day.dolls. No these dolls are worked on to look how their new owner wishes to perceive them. So they do not look like your average doll. Gross and exciting read that is fascinating throughout. Recommended!

Obsessed stalker horror

All the Pretty Dolls delivers a solid entry in the extreme horror genre—grimy, relentless, and unafraid to push boundaries. It hits most of the expected marks: disturbing imagery, psychological cruelty, and a creeping sense of dread that lingers long after the credits roll. The performances are raw, the pacing tight, and the atmosphere claustrophobic in all the right ways.

That said, the ending felt a bit rushed—like the film sprinted the final mile after a slow, deliberate burn. A few more minutes to let the climax breathe could’ve elevated the emotional payoff and thematic closure. Still, for fans of the genre, it’s a worthwhile descent into darkness.

Pretty Good Until the End

This one was a pretty solid extreme horror of the “obsessive creep kidnaps a woman” type, and it hit most of the usual notes of that kind, with the doll obsession adding a nice soupçon of flavoring to it. My only issue is the ending, or rather the climax.

Without intent to spoil, it felt like the author didn’t really have a way to end the story and pulled out a rather contrived resolution to the main problem. With the demented creativity of the rest of the book, I feel like the author could have come up with something better.

Still, it’s not terrible, and far from the worst extreme horror I’ve ever read.

Superb

Thoroughly enjoyed this little gem of a book. A deranged psychopath wants to create a little family of human baby dolls. Original and inventive, and you can't help but feel the suffering of his captives

Awesome book

I haven't read a Sam west book in a while. I saw this and downloaded it and wow I'm really glad I did.

A horrific tale which really moved along at a fast pace. I loved the characters and the plot was fantastic.

A must for any extreme horror fan.

Wow what a read this was. There was definitely no build up to the grotesque, it hits you straight at the first page which I loved. My only fault would be the ending which I found a bit boring but if that was to lead to another follow on story then it can be forgiven.

Definitely 5 stars from me

This was a quick and engaging read that gave off a Criminal Minds vibes—with an even darker twist. The concept was chilling and unique, and the pacing kept me turning pages. However, I felt the ending was a bit rushed and left me wanting more. Still, it's a solid thriller!

THAT was hard to read, I was like : « he did WHAT?? »

However I agree with some comments saying that the end was a little bit rushed, I kinda agree with that, I wish he would’ve died SLOWLY, that she took revenge, his death was way too quick compared to what he did

But that was good :)

okay, so I'm not into extreme horror at all, hence the lower rating. thankfully this was only 120 pages because I dont think I could have stomached much more than that. it was very visceral and very descriptive. read at your own risk.

This felt like a Criminal Minds Episode and I loved that about it.

Only critique would be the ending was very underwhelming, kind of felt like just a quick way to end the novella. I definitely would’ve liked to read more about Mitch and his weird “doll obsessions” though!
