Her Love Lesson

Rate this book
When the sexy junior high teacher appears to loathe you for no apparent reason, it’s not hard to tell your lady bits to shut it and go about your days teaching adorable third graders. Until, that is, the moment you find out the truth. Her Love Lesson is a spicy, grumpy/sunshine, rivals-to- lovers work romance full of fun and friendship.

Claire was a bonafide romantic. Sure, cuddling with her fluffy feline Phoebe was fantastic, but it was nothing like having a man. When junior high teacher Joshua’s piercing hazel eyes had locked onto hers that first day, well, to say he was attractive was an understatement. Unfortunately for Claire, Joshua, aka Mr. Jerkston, seemed to have nothing but contempt for the third-grade teacher. Until he didn't.

Joshua put up his guard the moment the pretty and perky substitute teacher knocked on his junior high door. It didn’t matter that Claire was beautiful, kind, and caring. He’d been burned by a colleague before, and he’d learned the hard way that work relationships were a terrible idea. He tried his best to not think about her. But even the best laid plans go wrong… or maybe they go just right.

*This is a slow burn, standalone contemporary romance with an HEA written in third person POV intended for adult readers. The Willow Street Girls books may be read in any order but best read in order for optimal enjoyment in terms of timeline.

This book has all the tropes I love, rivals to lovers, grumpy and sunshine, slow burn, small town, forced proximity, but I think personally this book overall was not for me.

The main thing I did not enjoy was that the MMC had no personality to him except for his lustful obsession with the FMC. It was almost creepy as he did not seem to want anything to do with her as a person and instead just acted like she was an object for his satisfaction that he just could not resist. Their whole relationship seemed so off to me too. The way it progressed was very sudden and unrealistic and because of his attitude and thoughts, the slow burn wasn't slow burning the way I expected it to if that makes sense. This is also just one of my opinions, but the spice was a little too graphic for me. I knew that this book was going to be spicy though so I'm not rating low because of that, but just as a fair warning it is VERY spicy haha. I mean if you are into that sort of thing you will probably like it.

The last thing that was off to me way the conversations between characters. I feel like it did not flow at all and it seemed very choppy and forced. I think that most of the conversations just needed to be edited a bit more to make it less stiff and more natural.

What I did LOVE was the FMC. She was fantastic. I loved how awkward, quirky, and bad at sports she was, and she was so dang funny I was truly laughing out loud. I also really liked the MMC's brothers and I honestly want to read the rest of the Johnston Brother's stories just because of how they were portrayed in this book.

Overall, I did not necessarily find the book to be "bad" because I did like the story in general, I just think that the creepy MMC, the forced conversations, and the spice just made it not for me. But with all the background now on the other characters, I am actually looking forward to the other books in the Johnston Brothers series.

To start off…. It’s not that this was a bad book.. it is just not for me.

There might be some mild spoiling in my review, but nothing major.

1/5 ⭐️’s
Spice level was probably a 4 or 5 out of 5 and I really didn’t like it. Super descriptive and happened quite a lot in the book. I knew there would be spice so I had that expectation going in, but this was too much for my taste and liking.

The MMC gave me the ick with how lustful he was for our FMC. It felt like she was an object and not a human at times and made me squirm uncomfortably. I had to skim over a lot of scenes. So, if you are like me and do not like descriptive spice scenes, I do not recommend this book.

If you DO like that type of a book, then you will enjoy it!

I did find some things in the book enjoyable, but overall the way our FMC and fellow characters in the book spoke to each other like they were in high school and not 23+ adults. It felt childish at times and I found myself making faces and rolling my eyes at how they acted and talked to each other.

I did appreciate how our FMC realized what she wanted and made changes for herself. The MMC just felt flat…? Everyone around him kept saying the same things to him and then all of a sudden within the last 2-3 chapters he “woke up”???? It just felt anticlimactic and like there wasn’t really a HUGE self development section for him. I’m glad he overcame the struggle he had with his past, but it just felt more like a flip of a switch change, and not a natural progression throughout the book.

I did receive an ARC copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

LOVE IT! 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is the 3rd book in the Willow Street Girls series. I've read them all, and they're all great, but I really think this one is my favorite!

Fellow teachers, Claire and Joshua are enemies from the start, but why?! Oh that's right, because he's secretly obsessed with her, but he really doesn't want to be. Meanwhile, absolute sunshine, Claire, can't figure out why she keeps running into him. Oh, and also important to note, Claire has a cat! Everything is better with a cat! 🐈‍⬛

There is some great spice in this book, but it's a slow burn, so be prepared for that. I think the author did a great job with pacing and keeping the story going. She also did a great job of making me love Claire(Claire Bear) and be really annoyed with Joshua(Mr. Jerkston), but then of course bringing it back to loving them both with an HEA.

It's a standalone novel, but previous couples and relationships are mentioned heavily. Definitely worth reading the first two as well!

Tropes:
Enemies to lovers(My favorite)
Grumpy/sunshine(My second favorite)
Secret relationship
Office romance (Teachers)
Friends with benefits
Slow burn

On no! It's the last of the Willow Street Girls series! But I've read she's going to move over to a new series with Joshua's 2 brothers. I can't wait for that! ❤️

Confession #1: I’ve read the previous two books (Grecian Getaway & Her Perfect Plan) and liked them both well enough.

Confession #2: I’m a teacher and went into this book with tempered expectations because I’m often let down when it comes to teacher characters.

I REALLY liked this book from Nuaros! The first book (Grecian Getway) is still my favorite, but this was a great round out to the Willow Street Girls and introduction to the Johnston Brothers. Claire felt like so many of my elementary colleagues and I adored her from the start! Joshua was spot on as a junior high teacher (more like me and my colleagues in my hallway).

I liked the work friendships that are brought into this story. It’s so often overlooked in books, romance in particular, that people have different circles of friends. Obviously Claire has her Willow Street girls, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have other friends and acquaintances, like Lizzie. I enjoyed the different depths.

It was sometimes to difficult to keep up with the passing of time, but Nuaros did a good job by referring to what students were doing, various holidays, and weather to help the reader keep up.

Loved this book! It was the perfect conclusion to the Willow Street Girls Series! Endria Nuaros has done it again and given her readers a fun, heart-felt story. The best part is, it is the beginning of the Johnston Brothers series!

This is the story of two lovelorn teachers bumping into each other in the school hallway...no, wait...it was actually the story of two teachers who tried to avoid each other at all costs! Secretly, however, falling for the other. Having first locked eyes in the Junior High hallway, Josh and Claire had an instant spark that was smothered by Josh's disdain for Claire, until it wasn't. However, Josh had become known as Mr. Jerkston and gained a reputation for himself. Having put up his guard with Claire from prior relationships, it slowly melted away when they were thrown together. This just might be the start of something wonderful...

This book can be read as a standalone but is even better when read in the series. It is a slow-burn romance, but in the best way possible. It is a must read!

Her Love Lesson had the potential to be a fun and engaging read, and the premise itself was promising. Unfortunately, the execution fell a bit flat for me. The story felt very superficial and unrealistic at times, particularly in how the characters communicated and interacted with one another. The romance, which should have been the heart of the story, came across as shallow and underdeveloped.

I also found certain details to be repetitive, with the same adjectives used frequently and characters repeating the same dialogue or reactions verbatim after similar actions. This made parts of the story feel redundant and took me out of the reading experience. Overall, it felt a bit far-fetched, and the relationships never fully deepened in a way that felt authentic.

Part of my disconnect may stem from the young ages of the characters, as their behavior and interactions felt immature, which made it harder for me to connect with them. While this book may appeal to readers who enjoy lighter, younger romance, it ultimately didn’t live up to its potential for me.

**Review: 4/5 Stars**

This book was a fantastic read, and although I haven’t read the rest of the series yet, it has made me eager to dive into the earlier installments.

**What I Loved:**
The friendships were one of the highlights for me—they were so easy to follow and felt genuinely heartwarming. The FMC (Claire) was bubbly and happy, someone you can’t help but root for, and the MMC (Josh) was incredibly caring. If you’re a fan of *Ted Lasso* and have a soft spot for Roy Kent, then you’re going to fall for Josh as well. He’s written in such a similar way, and I found myself swooning over him once he opened up. I already want to be friends with Claire and enjoy donuts and laughter together!

**What I Didn’t Love:**
There were a few grammar mistakes that pulled me out of the story briefly, but they were minor and didn’t affect my overall enjoyment.

If you’re looking for a charming, feel-good romance with endearing characters, this book is a great pick!

Let me tell you, I have been wanting to read Clarie and Mr. Jerkston’s story for a long while! Clarie, with her upbeat personality captured my attention in the first story and hearing all the complaining from her, well, the tension was high and I needed their story.

And I wasn’t disappointed. Okay, only a little. And that's because Joshua was a poopy head who couldn't get it together. I mean, their love life was gorgeous and spicy. And their hearts were there. But for a history teacher, it kinda made me want to smack him from not moving on from his past. Like, of all people, you might have a better clue. However, when they come to together, it's so amazing.

Don't miss Claire’s story! It's a great enemies to lovers where there really isn't a decent reason to be enemies, hehe.

I was super excited to read the 3rd book in this series as I enjoyed the other 2.
My thoughts on this book could contain spoilers.

This book (like the other 2) is also a super fun spicy read. I love Claire…she is spunky and fun and I enjoyed her own personal journey.

If you like spicy romance then this book will keep you interested. I felt like it was just the right amount.

I also liked that the Joshua wasn’t your typical male lead. He doesn’t come off nice at first because he’s dealing with a lot of past inner turmoil. His struggle to grow as a person is real.

I’m excited to see where the stories for the other brothers go. I enjoy how the other characters weave these stories together.

If you like spicy Rom com type books then this one’s a great one!

Full disclosure: I have not read the other books in this series. I jumped into this one because I’ve always wanted to get an ARC copy of a book. This one also intrigued me because I am a teacher as are our two main character!

I can definitely say I want to read the other books in the series after reading this one! It was really good. I love myself a good grumpy x sunshine, and this book delivered it!

There is definitely spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️ but it is a slow burn which I thoroughly enjoy! But if that isn’t your cup of tea, this may not be for you. If you don’t mind it though, definitely pick this book up! 😉

Ok this amazing book has left me dumbfounded. And still has me just in a daze. First off I am going to say this book may look cutesy well looks can be deceiving. 😂 this was down right spicy 🌶️ 🌶️ and almost confused me there for a min. With the “Mmmm Good girl” had my lady bits waking up 😂 like wait a min now and when I look at Nutella now all I will be thinking about is that scene 😏 and Joshua is down right don’t touch what is mine, but yet didn’t want a relationship due to his past relationship fiasco. He learned real quick he had to make Claire his. And Mimi Ruby will have you cracking up 😂 so I am going to say this book had it all.

⭐️Spicy
⭐️Grumpy/Sunshine
⭐️Rivals to Lovers

So just go read it and thank me later. I can’t say much more without spoiling the whole book.

This was such a fun small town romance!! It definitely had my attention from the beginning and I was always reading to keep reading it. The sexual tension, the slow burn, “enemies” to lovers, this book had it all!!! The chapters were short which I absolutely love!! I really enjoyed the FMC and her group of besties. I might have to go back and read Caroline and Noelle’s love stories. It was really nice to see the alpha MMC just as a regular guy, typically you only get those with darker romance. My only complaint is that the characters are 22-23 years old and the FMC felt so “behind” for not having met her soulmate. Will definitely continue reading the series and would recommend!!

This is the 3rd book in the series. I started with this book. I was a little confused at first, but I kept going, and I'm so glad I did. I thought it was cute... okay, maybe cute isn't the right word because this book is spicy, and I'm here for it.
I will be going back and read the first two books. Just so I have a better understanding of the characters! I really liked the authors 6 will be reading more from this author.
This book gave me all the feels.

Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️

It was an enjoyable read that kept me entertained and engrossed. I loved the plot and the flow. With it being the third book in the series I'd recommend reading the others first (I'm definitely going back and doing that).

I can totally relate with Claire as the only single one in my girl group, I love them, I'm happy for them, but I can't help but want the same.

Wish that there was more reason for them to be rivals, it felt lacking in that aspect. It was also weird that they still use DVDs, not sure who still uses those now.

I have read both books in this series and was super excited to dive into this story. I must say, this one is my favorite. The banter between Joshua and Claire is brilliantly written and made me smile and laugh out loud. Yes, it’s a love story with plenty of heat, but more than that, it’s a beautiful story about friends and family. The loyalty, support, and love is goal worthy. They are not afraid to call each other out and are quick to point out truths when necessary. This author is magical. Her writing style is so clever, you just get swept away.

Definite Enemy to Lover Vibes

4.25⭐️ Josh hasn’t liked Claire from the first time he met her because she was a substitute teacher who was hired full time at his school like his ex was. Claire doesn’t know what his problem is, but she thinks he’s a jerk. There’s definitely tension between them and they enter a friends with benefits situation. But Claire wants more and Josh isn’t willing to risk his heart. The banter in this book is fun and the friend and family dynamics are entertaining. And there’s spice.

Hilariously addictive, I inhaled this book. It was delightful, from the Tay-Tay to Ed Sheeran and the use of Bridgerton & dirty dancing quotes. Joshua was completely ignorant to his actual feelings & Claire was just delightfully adorable in this story. I loved all the aspects of family & friends that make this slow burn romance so relatable and heartfelt. Another beautifully written story, Thank you for allowing me to read an advanced copy! Highly recommend this book!

The Willow Street Girls are back in this tug and pull Romance. This story is about Claire, the third Willow Street girl to fall in love. This clever story about the teacher down the hall, who you think is cute but pays no attention to you. After a while, Claire and Joshua relationship revolves into more. I enjoyed this reading this story and enjoyed each of the Willow Street Girls love story with a little spice.

This book was so stinkin cute!!! 🥰 but add in the SPICE 🌶️

The is a rivals to lovers/workplace romance. 🥰

The FMC was an innocent sweetheart that tried her best not to cuss but man did the man bring out her dirty side 😉🫣 It even had the “Touch her and ☠️” vibes!! I will never look at a teacher desk or Nutella the same ever again 🤣

If you enjoy a spicy teacher romance, this book is for you. If you've read the first two books in the series, you get to find out more about the jerk of a teacher Claire has been dealing with. But why does he have to be so good at everything? It definitely makes him hard to hate. I don't want to share too much and spoil it for you, so you'll have to check it out.

This one was definitely different than Her Perfect Plan, but in a good way! It wasn't predictable, and the angst and sexual tension between the 2 characters was nearly unbearable, but Endria worked it beautifully. I honestly could not put it down until I saw the 2 characters till the end. Beautiful romantic with a splash of comedy. Needless to say, Endria is one of the authors on my to-read list.

I loved reading this book. Claire is such a sweet girl with just a touch of sassy. Josh has been burned in the past and is shying away from their magnet chemistry. But they make such a beautiful combustion when their chemistry finally is combined. I love their slow build. I love his resistance. This book is so lovely. The love that results is beautiful. You must read it!!! ♥️♥️♥️🔥

The story plot was good and I like that it felt a little more realistic as far as how people get together in actual life. Since I hadn't read the previous stories I felt like the characters fell a little flat. I'm hoping they won't feel that way once I read the others.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters were very relatable and I felt like a workplace romance was something many readers could connect with. The level of spice was about a 4/5 and I love a good spicy book with details.

What I loved about following this series is that I felt like I was reading a different author each time. I liked that the spice increased with each book and the style of writing wasn’t easily predictable. Sometimes when reading one genre repeatedly it becomes the same story with different character names. I am looking forward to the Johnston brothers side of the story.
