Cora Dalton has a lot on her plate. She's the CEO of her late father's architecture firm, takes care of her mother, and is in the midst of a major lawsuit. She's doing everything she can to control her life. But when Jay, the man she had a wild one night stand with, shows up at her office as the new Human Resources Director, she has to try even harder to control her feelings.
As Jay and Cora grow a working relationship, so does their attraction to one another. But when Jay sets up a massage appointment for Cora with a male massage therapist he knows very well, she can't help falling for him, too. Was this Jay's plan all along? Can these men help Cora relax and relinquish control?
Book 2: Structural Support
As Cora grapples with grief and depression, she seeks refuge in her lovers. However, Marco and Jay know they can heal her only so much. Letting her relinquish control in the bedroom liberates her but only to a certain extent. Jay and Marco gently guide her to therapy, where she’s able to unravel the complexities of her emotional turmoil and explore her feelings for them, her family, and her career.
In the backdrop of this trio’s trials, the past unfolds, showcasing Jay and Marco’s origin story—two strangers becoming best friends. If it were only that simple… Jay’s unrequited love for Marco builds from a casual crush to an all-consuming, soul-crushing anguish he cannot ignore. Can Jay ever admit his feelings for Marco? Is Marco capable of loving Jay as more than a friend?
The first book I read by Sloan Spencer was Every Version of You, which I loved. It was only natural that I wanted to find out more about Cora, Jay and Marco, so I decided to read The Structural Duet.
This is another one of my favourites. Sloan Spencer has a gift for writing emotions. We experience what her characters are going through, whether it’s through their fear, their joy, their sadness or the incredibly spicy scenes that happen between these three people 🥵
Even though it’s a fiction, it all seems to come straight from the real world. It’s unbelievable and enjoyable at the same time. I already liked the little I had seen of Cora, Jay and Marco in Every Version of You and with this book I really fell in love with this trio.
Structural Support review:
5 ⭐️
It was so good and now it’s already over 😢
I think with this second book of the duet, Sloan Spencer has become an author whose next books I will be looking forward to with great anticipation.
It was such a pleasure to be a part of Cora, Jay and Marco’s lives. Their complicity, their love, their desire… It was all just incredible. There wasn’t a single moment when I felt that these three characters weren’t lifting each other up by helping each other through their difficulties. The communication that exists in this polycule is one of the reasons why you know these three are meant to be together forever.
The book hangover I now have from these books is one of the strongest I’ve had in a long time.
There’s something off about all the present day mmc pov’s being sex scenes (mm, mfm, mf) and basically only sex scenes. I’ve been noticing it lately and I just wanna know why
Sloan is one of my new favorite authors. What could have been a fun, rompy, poly romance instead digs deep into grief, kink, therapy, letting go, and how to be a good partner. Which isn't to say it isn't fun and full of wonderful swoony moments and beauty, just that it doesn't shy away from the hard complex things that make a real life.
Cora is fat, a badass architect, and CEO of her late father's business, trying to keep her head above water and not drop one of the 100 glass balls she's juggling everyday. And when her one night stand from two years ago is her new hire, they both learn they never really moved on. Too bad he's in a relationship now. Plus he's her employee. It's messy. And so good.
The kink here is really well done, soft and hot mixed with a lot of tears and pain. One of the characters was in the military, and the text really grapples with that. It's not glamorized at all, and the negative impacts that can have on a person are explored in some detail. As are the social repercussions of being in a polyamorous relationship. Plus grief over losing a child before birth, and the trauma of an unsupportive past partner that causes you to experience even thinking about having another child. Cora has a lot to work through, but luckily her boyfriends are supportive of her going to therapy and working through some of her issues.
I can't wait for more from Sloane. I actually read the second book in this series first, and the writing is even stronger in the second one. I just trust her to tackle some big topics with sensitivity. Give it all to me.
Cora is a divorcee struggling to stay afloat amidst her mental health and professional challenges. She and Jay have a one night stand early on, after which she ghosts him. Jay, finds love with his best friend, but never forgets about Cora. Two years later, Jay appears in Cora's board room as her new director of HR. The two reconnect as friends and Jay suggests she take some time for herself and schedules her a massage. Lo and behold, Cora's masseur is Marco, Jay's significant other. During the massage, Marco discovers Cora's need for pain and quickly falls for the curvy CEO. The three embark on a journey of exploration together and fall fast and hard for one another.
The chemistry between these three was insanely sexy. Sloan Spencer can WRITE these scenes! (See also: 'Every Version of You'). On top of that though, we see the complexities of Cora, Jay, and Marco as individuals and as a unit. Marco's struggles with PTSD following his time in the military, Jay's need to establish his own cultural identity (this one hit home in a big way for me), and Cora's struggle with depression following her miscarriage and former marriage. The way these three showed up for one another had me tearing up consistently.
I cannot recommend this duet enough. If you're looking for books that will stick with you, imprint on you, and leave you with a serious reading hangover, look no further. I will forever read anything Spencer writes.
This duet is everything I needed in a book. When I first read it I was not sure what I was getting myself into. You think it will be a cute MMF series but it turns into a series about loss, healing, love, and acceptance. Over the course of the books you see all three characters evolve. The first book is about finding the people you need, and learning to accepting and love them. The second is about healing from trauma, and has the story of how Marco and Jay found each other.
Sloan writes healthy communication, kink, and relationships so well. The characters' personalities are not their flaws but how they adapt and grow with those cracks in their armor. The way the characters communicate their thoughts, insecurities, and feelings is on point. It great to see a book where the characters are not lying or holding back to make the others feel better.
This book made me feel so many emotions. I laughed, cried, and blushed. I have read this book several times now and have listened to the audiobooks. Can not recommend enough!
This duet is absolutely perfect 👌 it's so sweet, so steamy, and heart-touching. If you're looking for something that will make you swoon but is also sad but then picks up all your broken pieces, then this is the duet for you!! Read the tws because there is a heavy topic but the way the grief and the love and support for the fmc is handled is so respectful and beautiful. It's very healing. This throuple is one of my all time favorites. Cora, Jay, and Marco are absolutely perfect together.. and those massages 👌👌👌 plus the work place funnnn omgggg 🥵 top notch.
Absolutely loved this world of Cara, Jay and Marco. It was really well written and kept me turning the pages throughout both books, couldn't put it down!
It a great idea to have both books together like this as you will absolutely want book 2 as soon as you finish book 1, I promise!
I really enjoyed the characters getting to know each other and also their back stories, particularly Jay and Marcos friendship was really interesting.
There is some amazing spice in this duet too, you will not disappointed lol...but also lots of heartfelt moments too.
This Duet is everything; suspense and spice and the most amazingly sweet, yet deep, characters that you get to watch overcome their fears to find happiness.
Meeting Cora, Jay and Marco, seeing the way they care for each other and support each other was beautiful. It’s a seamless blending of different cultures, sexualities and experiences that makes you feel included and seen while taking you along for the journey that is their story.

I read this duet as separate books and trust me, when you finish the first book, you will NEED the second one immediately! The amount of love and support and healthy communication in this story was astoundingly beautiful. I truly believe that these three characters love each other. No one relationship felt more important or more primary than the others. Also, this book is hot AF --- a total inferno of kink. Seriously, read this book!
I will never be the same after reading this duet. It broke me, and fixed me all in one go.
Sloan does an amazing job of showing real life struggles from discovering one’s sexuality, work place drama, grief, miscarriage, and the ins and out of their relationship.
We see real people working throuh some really tough struggles, and comming out better on the other side. The way they love each other is just stunning.
Also if you love a good spicy romance, this one is for you!!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
The Structural Duet: Structural Damage & Structural Support by Sloan Spencer – I teasingly suggest that entire casts of characters go to therapy, but it really is nice when they take me up on it! This duet will break your heart and give you hope that sometimes love will put it back together! Happy Reading!
Loved these books from beginning to end. The emotional depth of the characters, especially as they confront their own feelings and navigate love is incredible touching. This box set is an absolute must read!!!!
I DEMOLISHED this duet , I love these books so much and the new discreet cover is fire. I love Sloan so much and all the work she’s put out is amazing and so well written. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
I was hooked from chapter 1. Jay and Cora had a perfect night together and then I gasped at the time frame. (I obviously didn't read the blurb before diving in). Overall, the entire story is fantastic!
This is the 4th version of this book that I own. Sloan has all my money lol I love her books and I will always recommend them to anyone that will listen
This is only the 3rd/4th book I've read of Sloan Spencer's and I am so impressed. She creates characters with depth and realness. Relationships with romance, honesty, and intricacies, and they are Polyamous! Integrates true to life kinkiness and Consent! All that and showing that Mental Health Matters!! WOW!! That is not even to mention her sensitivity with military service, veteran mental health, pregnancy loss, adoption and cultural heritage! All packed into a book that I, a voracious and lifelong reader, did not want to put down. Excellent work!!
