Years ago, Sarah's betrayal forced Nick to flee from the Sunburst Pack, leaving him hunted and alone. Now a valued member of the Moonstone Pack, Nick has built a new life, but he’s never forgotten Sarah—or the sting of her betrayal.

When Sarah tracks Nick down, desperate for his help to confront the turmoil in his old pack, Nick knows he should turn her away. But despite the risks, he can't refuse her plea.

Joined by Ryker and Bronx from the Moonstone Pack, and a few key allies from the Sunburst Pack—charismatic Malcolm, pragmatic Anders, and the formidable twin enforcers Conall and Quinton—Nick and Sarah embark on a mission to overthrow the ruthless alpha, Vincent Foley.

As they face danger and deception, Nick discovers Sarah is hiding a secret bigger than he ever imagined. Now, he must decide: can he trust Sarah again, or is this just another one of her tricks to pull him back into her life?

This was fun! Even though I hadn’t read any of the other stories yet, this was easy to follow. I enjoyed the story Sarah and Nick!

Nick is still missing his other half and every time he thinks of the betrayal and hurt he gets angry. Working in the restaurant is easy and enjoyable but things are about to change. When Nick sees Sarah at his table he is experiencing all of the pain and resentment again. Sarah was once his mate for life until four years ago. Sarah has to be here for a reason and Nick isn’t sure he wants to hear it. Will they be able to overcome their past and make a future worth having? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah betrayed Nick years ago and now she needs his help. When Nick was run out of the pack, he tried to forget about Sarah, his mate. He built walls around his heart to keep her out. Their Alpha is evil and sadistic and the Sunburst pack need help removing him. Nick takes two of his pack mates and head to New Mexico. When they get there, Sarah has been keeping secrets. Will Nick forgive Sarah for her betrayal?
I’ll be honest, this was not the best of books. Nick complained too much. Shifters. Second chance at love. Sex.

We were briefly introduced to the Nick/Sarah drama at the end of the previous book, but I’m pretty sure you could start here and be just fine. There is so much hidden backstory that we are all moving through this missing pieces of their past.

Nick is a member of a healthy, happy pack, having run away from his previous one after being betrayed by his mate, the woman he trusted most. The book is a little light on the details, but somehow she convinced him he needed to leave, so he left and actually is in a safer pack now. When Sarah shows up at his table he knows he shouldn’t get involved, but agrees to help her deal with their toxic alpha, Vincent.

It’s always a little tricky with books that start without the backstory playing out for the reader. I know we are supposed to believe these two loved each other wildly and passionately before but all we know is that Sarah betrayed him. When Nick arrives back on pack lands again, he quickly realizes just how much she was hiding from him. Somehow he manages to set all that aside and rekindle their relationship, all while plotting to overthrow the current alpha. It all ends well, but felt very rushed. Don’t worry, though, because we get a HEA and a low key intro do the next book.

Nick and Sarah

A second chance love story as truths unfold, secrets are revealed when Nick and some of the Moonstone pack rally to right the evils of the current alpha to bring peace and freedom back to a once loved pack.

The path of true love never runs smoothly and as Nick finds out the biggest secret of all, can he forgive Sarah and both claim the HEA they should have had years ago?

An action packed entertaining read with some steamy moments.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"This is not how she was meant to end..."

I've really wanted Nick's book since I read Steele's because I had this feeling he had a lot of secrets. I never guessed any of them, though. His backstory and past were a complete suprise and yet explained so much about him.

This story has a lot of plot and action, maybe more than any other book in the series. And I loved watching Sarah and Nick as they found there way back to where they should have always been.

While the story can stand alone, reading the other books first does make this one better, especially since Ryker and Bronx are in this a lot. And of course Steele, their alpha, also makes several appearances. This series has been kind of hit or miss but I'm happy to say, Nick's story is one of the good ones. Very enjoyable.
