The Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known by the pen name Lewis Carroll, was an English author, mathematician, logician, Anglican clergyman and photographer.
His most famous writings are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass as well as the poems "The Hunting of the Snark" and "Jabberwocky", all considered to be within the genre of literary nonsense.
Oxford scholar, Church of England Deacon, University Lecturer in Mathematics and Logic, academic author of learned theses, gifted pioneer of portrait photography, colourful writer of imaginative genius and yet a shy and pedantic man, Lewis Carroll stands pre-eminent in the pantheon of inventive literary geniuses.
I have never read this beloved childrens book before, and I thought I would fall in love with it right away. Unfortunately I didn't. In the beginning I found the conversations annoying and the characters rude. Not to mention the trial that made absoluteley no sense at all. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that maybe this is exactly why the book is loved by so many, because it doesn't make sense. It's a lot of nonsens that actually make you think. I believe I would have absoluteley loved this book as a child. I listened to the audio book read by Sally Field as well, and suddenly everything came to life. The audio book made me laugh and smile throughout
Like most people I grew up watching the Disney movie, and I'm glad I finally got to read the book. I thought it was great. I also loved how short it was. Also love a quick read.
