The Reluctant Apprentice :

Katherine “Kat” Martin was a nursing student in college as an undergraduate but now is in her second and last year of the degree program which will make her a physician assistant. She and Arron Bainbridge have completed a very hectic first year of marriage. Besides continuing her schooling is working in the newly named firm of Bainbridge and Bainbridge Adoption Agency. She has learned that in a new firm’s startup, the people there must perform several functions. Hers turns out to be the roles of administrator, adoption coordinator, and medical advisor. To add to the chaos of the past year, she is still the one person on this planet who can heal people and animals that medical science can’t. In the past, she was the apprentice performing this job, but now, in her fifth year becomes more of a master. She has discovered that she must hide her identity from this second job to protect herself and those around her. With the responsibilities of her two jobs, she finds it difficult to be a university student in graduate school.

Aaron is vested in making his company successful but has a secret job of his own. He is a CIA agent, and just like Kat’s second job, his activities while performing it must be hidden from all others. They both know of each other's second job but never discuss those jobs with one another for security reasons.

The firm grows adding more people to the mix and more situations for Kat and Aaron to deal with. In the end, the most important goal of the year is to have a happy married life and live through it.
