Awesome read! Shares many similarities with other PNR/fantasy series with kick*ss heroines, but in a positive way that make this book join the greatness. Our FMC, mid-20s yo witch Evangeline, is witty and caring with a mysterious past. The MMC, 900+ yo vampire Gabriel, is (initially) more stoic, but has a huge heart along with, um, family issues. The plot keeps one engrossed and I found it creative even though several troupes are followed. The only issue I had was occasionally something would happen that I personally felt should have gotten stronger reactions from the characters. Book two in this duology is out now, so no biggie that ends on a cliff.

Btw, this is a MF romance for the MCs, but features racial & gender diversity in side characters.

Great Story & Narration🎧 Intriguing & Entertaining! 4.5 Stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bound by Blood and Magic
Soulbound Shadows, Book 1
By: Skye Wilson
Narrated by: Allie Martina, Alexander Neal

This intriguing paranormal romance novel, a story about a witch and a vampire, a story that is original with interesting storylines that hold your attention from start to end. In the Soulbound Shadows world, witches and vampires usually stay away from each other, but these two are teaming together to find an ancient relic, each for reasons of their own. Vampires are disappearing without explanation, and Gabriel de Montclair, an ancient vampire from a powerful family, is investigating what is happening to them. Evangeline, a witch who works as a private investigator, is on her own mission to find the ancient relic, a relic that may hold the answers both she and Gabriel are looking for. There is an undeniable chemistry between those two, and they made a great team, and I enjoyed watching them in action and getting to know each other. This is a multi-layered, cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some humorous moments, twists and turns, and a slow burn romance. Besides the amazing lead characters, there are some fantastic side/secondary characters too. Overall, this is an entertaining story, and since it is the first in a duet, a story that leaves you wanting more.

🎧📚🎧 Allie Martina and Alexander Neal did a fantastic job voicing these characters and did so knowing who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Both voice actors were naturals in their roles as the two lead characters, grasping every aspect of their personalities, with Martina’s Evangeline sassy and fierce and Neal’s Gabriel, a sweetheart, a cool, calm and swoony one. Their pacing and tone were just right for the story, and they captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complement each other and a performance that elevates the story to another level.

Audiobook review of Bound by Blood & Magic, Part 1 of the Soulbound Shadows duet, written by Skye Wilson, narrated by Allie Martina and Alexander Neal.

I made a big mistake with this book, starting it straight after Under Your Scars, which may be my best read/listen of the year. I should have taken a break, and read a novella to get over my book hangover... but alas, I didn't. Because of this, I didn't initially enjoy the book as much as I thought I would. This was my fault. However, after giving myself a telling-off, and putting my focus into it, I started to enjoy it more and finally got into it!

This book has a lot going on, lots of detail and really ramps up towards the end with the action and ends on a cliffhanger that makes you want to dive right into book 2.

The FMC Evangeline is a witch and private/paranormal investigator, a strong confident woman, who joins forces with the MMC, a 900-year-old vampire, Gabriel, to find the missing pieces of the 'ascendency array', a powerful magical artefact. She receives a letter at the beginning of the story which leads her to locate the missing artefact (although I admit to not being sure why, I may have lost focus at this point, or it just may not have been that clear). She meets Gabriel who is trying to find out why vampires keep going missing.

Together, and sometimes with Evangeline's best friend in tow and Gabriel's housemates, they must solve cryptic clues to find the artefact. This is where I have a bit of an issue with the story - the clues only seem to matter for the first couple of pieces and then I'm pretty sure they're never mentioned again.

They are not only facing the challenges of finding the pieces, but in the second half of the book they start to come up against Gabriel's father too, and the last quarter of the book is action-filled, with finally locating the final piece of the ascendency array and the effects this has on Evangeline's magic, along with a curse that's put on Evangeline. By this point, I couldn't put it down and HAD to finish it!

There's a nice bit of spice in the story and Evangeline's and Gabriel's relationship develops into more than friends. Gabriel is the most green flag vampire I've ever read and I loved it. Despite his age and family, he has managed to retain some of his humanity, along with his housemates.

There's some nicely portrayed gender diversity in this book.

The dual narration was fantastic. Allie Martina and Alexander Neal brought the story to life really well, giving distinction to the different characters they narrated.

ALC review:
Bound by Blood & Magic by Skye Wilson, produced by High Gravity audiobooks

I enjoyed the performance by Allie & Alexander- both new to me narrators. This audio is a dual narration & part of a continuing series.

Alexander's voice was a perfect fit for Gabriel: a complete cinnamon roll vampire. Allie did a great job as Evangeline: a no-nonsense witch coming into her power. Together, they look for some missing artifact pieces & discover hidden truths about themselves.

The book was okay. I definitely laughed out loud in several places. My biggest question is why we didn't get any resolution to the spicy dream... there's a point early in the book, maybe about 30% in, where both characters have the same spicy dream, and they don't even mention it to each other at all. He falls first, but after almost zero relationship building. There is spice, but it happens later in the book. On my scale, I'd say this one was a 1-2 spice.

This book could be for you if you like super sweet cinnamon rolls, and FMC who really already owns herself as she is. She has some development in the book, but mostly she stays the same. I do enjoy witch/vampire pairings, and this was no exception. Medium to slow burn, but very much a New Adult romantasy, with a scavenger hunt thrown in for fun.

I really enjoyed this book. Have been so tired of the drawn out enemies to lovers genre that seem to plague every romantacy lately. I enjoyed the main characters as well as the side characters. I was so happy to see a relationship start with just a neat ordinary but interesting way. I've been so bored reading. This was a book that I said wow I actually want to read the second. I feel like I go through a good 50 books before I get that great feeling again. There is spice but it is not obnoxious taking chapters at a time. It's perfect. Really love the fact it will not take 13 books to get the whole story. I enjoy duo's and trilogy's my limit is probably 6 books max. I start getting bored. I have read 176+ books this year and this is a stand out book. The FMC is not annoying acting all hard and then always needs help. Those are the worst books. This FMC is strong and works well with others. She is not all hear me roar which again is getting old. I am a fan of all types of fantasy, horror, dark romance. From Amelia Hutchins to Steven King and absolutely everything in-between. I am happy I found this book. I like finding new authors to enjoy. All my favorites are currently writing and I have no back up. Lol. Now I do.

The two main characters are Gabriel who is vampire royalty and Evangeline a PI and witch. As the story continues they find they must work together to solve the issues they are facing. There is quite a bit going on. As they research they find an ancient relic may be at the heart of their problems. Add to that their mutual attraction and the animosity between vampires and witches in general and you have a dangerous situation. With vampires mysteriously disappearing and a relic fueled by dark magic potentially at the heart of the issue you have a very interesting predicament.

I enjoyed this one. It took me a few chapters to chapters to get into the story but once I did, it held my attention until the end.

Please be aware that this book does end on a cliffhanger. Fortunately, the second book is already out.

This is part one of the Soulbound Shadows Duet, a paranormal slow-burn romance. Gabriel and Evangeline's story is entertaining, ans suspenseful, filled with action, danger, and twists and turns. There is a lot going on in this installment. The world building is interesting. As expected, the story ends with a cliffhanger. Looking forward to listening to Entwined By Fate And Darkness, the second part in the duet. Allie Martina and Alexander Neal did a great job bringing these characters, and this story to life. #HighGravityProductions

Great book

I absolutely loved this first book in this series. I really appreciated that it is clearly stated that this book ends in a cliffhanger. Normally, I don't enjoy books with cliffhanger endings however, this one is perfectly written! The story is so well crafted. I love the 2 main characters. Evangeline and Gabriel are perfect for each other and I can't wait to see what is going to happen next. The narrators did a great job too and really brought life to the characters. I'm ready to start the next book and see how it ends! Great story so far!

Soulbound Shadows: Bound by Blood & Magic is part one of a duet and it ends in a cliffhanger. The two major characters are Evangeline and Gabriel. Evangeline is a young witch and works as a private investigator with her mentor. Gabriel is a 900 year old vampire who is royalty but is at loose ends. They meet while Evangeline is doing research on black magic and an ancient relic. The world building and character development is very detailed and extremely imaginative. There is a lot of action, mystery, suspense, intrigue and many twists and turns. Evangeline and Gabriel have amazing chemistry. Listen to this fabulous audiobook to find out if they can stop the spread of black magic. Allie Martina and Alexander Neal were both absolutely phenomenal in their narration. They portrayed all characters perfectly.

Audio book review
The author wrote a great characters and plot that will have your attention from the first sentence. The heroine and hero Evangeline and Gabriel were great together. They form a bond that is strong.
Only thing is you won’t expect the bond that is formed because technically they should not be mates

Allie Martinez and Alexander Neil did a fantastic work telling this story for our ears they did all the scenes and characters fantastic

Audio review:

Allie Martinez and Alexander Neil did an amazing job narrating this book bringing the story to life and keeping the story engaging with their voices. They are so easy to listen to while loosing yourself in the story.

The book took me a little bit to get into but once it hooked me I was hooked till the end. This isnt my normal genre but the book was witty , captivating, and the relationship between the heroine and hero was perfection.

Honestly this book started out slow to me because I was lost from the start. But as I made my way through the chapters with Evangeline I understood more about it. Now obviously stories progress as they go along. I know that. When Gabriel came into the picture I wasn't sure if it was going to be enemies to lovers or not. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not. I felt like I was with them in every situation they faced. I enjoyed that her cat was a plant and could hold their own when need be. I look forward to listening to the next book.

The main characters go on a journey to save the world as they know it and end up learning more than they bargained for about themselves and each other. The plot is unique and adventurous. There is romance with a little spice thrown in. The characters are funny and well thought out. I couldn’t stop listening. The narrators did a fantastic job. Can’t wait for book two.

This was a weird experience. I just could not get into this book. I just did not like the flipping between the male and female from the start. Did not hook me.

DNF at 87%. Just too tedious and boring. The writing style wasn’t my favorite and the use of some words (especially during spicy scenes) was a turn-off. Also, it just felt so weak - the character depth, their connection, the sexual attraction, the urgency of the ‘mystery,’ all of it.

An exciting story

I’ve enjoyed the book very much, the characters are great, the supporting characters interesting, and the storyline has kept me guessing. So far so good. I’m looking forward to the next book. If your not into explicit sex then this book isn’t for you.
