I was interested to see what words of wisdom from elder generations would be included. I recognized some of the common phrases, but not all of them. I was surprised by how many phrases that the author is calling "wisdom" but are inappropriate, outdated, or hurtful. No matter what the age, if someone said some of these things, it would be disrespectful. Just because people are "elders", does not give them the right to be disrespectful.
The book came off a bit preachy, especially around God and the author's view point on modern technology.
This didn't feel like a book, but more like I was a child getting a scolding and a lecture from an older parent.
Even though it's barley over a 100 pages, I had to push myself to finish it. I think it could maybe have been better if the author would have taken a different approach to how she wrote it, such as using short stories to make it more relatable.
Easy read, powerful wisdom filled sayings that have been around for generations. Great for the young adults to learn from their elders. A time for the elders to sit back and reflect on words heard throughout their lifetime.
From Patricia Griggs, "I found that I could relate to my parents and grandparents. Many sayings that I use myself and have passed down to my family."
In writing this book, I wanted to capture the legacy of wisdom and knowledge for the future generations.
