Delightful and unexpected, whether in rhyme or simple prose, these small fantasies will provide hours of pleasure for children and their elders. A colorful feast rich in beauty and imagination. Full color.
Helme Heine was a best-selling German writer, children's book author, illustrator and designer. He lived in New Zealand, writing screenplays, audiobook scripts and creating satirical drawings and sculptures.
Published in Germany by "Gertraud Middelhauve Verlag." Apparently translated by the author.
Great fun, too bad it's not more well-known. Of course, there's quite a number of critters who die, and monsters, and one mention of so maybe not to American tastes. But I loved bits like . There are many sweet bits like that.
As a child I would have loved this in all its charming weirdness and read it over and over. Highly recommend for all ages who are fans of the macabre, or of tales of friendship, or of European children's literature.
