Oh, oh, the mistletoe, hung where I did NOT see. My brother’s friend waits for me and gets down on one knee—What is happening?
Somebody stop it, please! Oh, those dreamy blue eyes batting at me, and all the words he dares to say. This is bad. Like really, really bad. We’re now planning a wedding day. But it’s all for a good reason, not love. Oh, cough, cough, let’s not bust out the L-word. It’s purely business. It is a solid plan until it isn't. So maybe I love him, but we agreed not to do that . . . whoops!
Let's Not and Sleigh We Did is a fake marriage of convenience, brother's best friend, just-kisses-but-all-the-swoons romcom. Oh, yeah, there's a fluffy cow too!
Let's Not and Sleigh We Did is the third book in the Christmas Shenanigans series. I had not personally read the previous books in the series and found I was able to enjoy this one just fine as a standalone.
This was such a cute holiday romance with all the makings of a Hallmark movie! Christmas Shenanigans is truly the perfect title for this series (or at least this book), because there was a whole lot going on in this story--- Noelle finds herself in need of a new roommate/place to live and her brother's best friend whom she'd shared an awful first kiss with in middle school steps into help... and when he learns that he needs to be married to inherit a house, a fake marriage seems like the perfect solution for everyone. Except that the two have never really gotten along. The more time they spend together, the more that changes and I found I really enjoyed seeing her come around to him as the story went on. The story had a good dose of Christmas magic (not to mention an adorable cow) and was just a really fun holiday read!
Let's Not and Sleigh We Did is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
**ARC received via Netgalley for consideration. All opinions are my own.
This was a cute Christmas story! I loved both of the main characters. This is the first book I’ve read by JP and I hopefully will go back and read more.
What’s to love:
Fake marriage 💍 Fluffy cow 🐮 A horse named Buttercup 🐴 Christmas and winter vibes 🎄 Married in Vegas and all Vegas vibes Kiss, after kiss, after kiss Sweet and clean read Under 200 pages

“Noelle is my Roman Empire. The single person my mind wanders to whenever it’s quiet.”
I absolutely love finding a new holiday romcom like JP Sterling’s Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did. There was so much background, character growth, humor, and story packed into 190 pages that I was surprised when I hit the last page. Luke’s infatuation with Noelle stemmed from middle school, where Noelle was sure the world was ending after their shared kiss, which went awry. Even going as far as to refer to Luke as Luke Slobberlips, Noelle adamantly decided she’d never have another thing to do with him. Life’s funny like that, and suddenly, due to circumstances out of her control, she and Luke are roommates, using their newfound status to trick Luke’s parents into thinking they’re married for Luke’s inheritance.
“You’re not on the market. You’re pending in my cart.”
The resulting story is comedic, making me laugh right out loud and shake my head, whether it’s at Luke’s inability to think around Noelle or their silly antics as they navigate their fake relationship and budding friendship. Their love's slow, steady build was perfectly sweet for this holiday story. I am also a JP Sterling follower for life because the funny scenes in the book were so effortless. They came up organically and honestly had me laughing and giggling out loud. The only issues I had with the story were the terminology regarding the horses and cows and the cover. The words used weren't incorrect enough to ruin the story for me, but as a lifelong equestrian, they were off enough for me to pause and mentally correct. I also was a little bummed to see the Holstein-looking calf on the cover did not match the brown fluffy cow in the book though both were very cute!
Cheers to the unexpected and happy Holidays! Thank you, JP Sterling, for this ARC. I enjoyed reading this holiday story and hope to see something about Nate in the future. I think anyone looking for a sweet rom-com with a bit of holiday magic and a fluffy cow should give this a read this winter! All opinions expressed in this review are mine, honest, and given voluntarily.
Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did is J.P. Sterling’s Christmas rom-com novella set in a fictional small town in New England. The story is told in alternating POV from Noelle and Luke. There are no sex scenes or profanity. Noelle is a 22-year-old who works with horses on a small farm in Mapleton, Vermont. She decided not to go to college and shares an apartment (and expenses) with her twin brother, Nate. Although Noelle’s salary is small, she gets free boarding for her horse, Buttercup. When Nate decides to move to Florida to be with a girl that he met online, he offers his best friend, Luke, as a potential roommate for Noelle. Noelle had a bad date and horrible kissing experience with Luke in high school, so she declines the offer. When she loses her job at the stable, she decides that having wealthy Luke as a roommate sounds pretty good. Luke is pre-law in college and his father expects him to attend Harvard Law School. However Luke is more interested in woodworking, something he did with his beloved maternal grandfather. When his father informs him that the family home will be going to his hated cousin because he’s getting married, Luke decides that he should beat his cousin to the altar so he can inherit the property. Luke works out a deal with Noelle for a fake marriage which will solve all of their problems. Although I’m not a fan of Hallmark movies, I know that many people enjoy them and prefer stories with similar themes and plots. Unfortunately, Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did seems like it has the elements of a Hallmark movie, but the characters seem immature and there’s several cringey scenes/dialogue. Noelle told readers that her high school kiss with Luke was bad multiple times and provided descriptions of it each time. I feel like this story should be edited further and then re-marketed to the new-adult inspirational market. The overall plotline of Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did is fine; it’s the immature characters that make it less engaging than other closed-door romantic comedies. I received an Advance Review Copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Victory Editing Co-op for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you were up against the wall trying to figure out housing for you and your beloved horse, what would you do?!
Noelle is put between a rock and a hard place when her twin/roommate tells her that he’s heading to Florida to be with his online lady love. Her brother helps to find a replacement, only to have him back out sorta! Buttercup is the main reason, Noelle moved away from home and she’s not about to give her horse up for anything!
Luke wants nothing more to become Noelle’s roommate as he has had feelings for her since their unfortunate overly slobbery first kiss when they were in middle school, but his parents are his financial backers until he gets established in a career… so no go! To add insult to injury of not being able to be her roommate, he finds out that a cousin recently got engaged and is set to inherit the family home that he has longed for his entire life! Well, that sucks! Luke acts quickly once his parents tell him that news and says that his “girlfriend” Noelle have been talking marriage, but he just hasn’t proposed yet! Whoa Nelly, this is getting crazy! Now he must get her on board with the scheme!
While these two seem so utterly opposites attract, they still have moments together that are heartfelt and adorable! You can’t help but root for the adorkable guy with perpetual verbal vomit and the girl who wants only the best for her horse! While their relationship starts off as a sham, they learn that their chemistry is something special and that anything can happen when you have a little bit of Christmas magic! This little Christmas novella is the perfect read for that lazy day, whether you are snowed in or just want to cuddle up with a blanket, just for the sake of it! Bravo!
4.5⭐ "How do I break it to Noelle I can't move in with her? Or how do I tell her the even better news? We're getting married!" Noelle has been icked out by Luke since they were kids, but when her brother moves out and her only option is to accept Luke as her roommate or lose everything - both her home and her beloved horse - she's forced to accept Luke into her life. But Luke, well, he's been in love with Noelle for as long as he can remember, and when he blurts out to his parents that he's been considering marrying his so-called girlfriend Noelle, the pressure is on to figure out what to do. 🎄 ❄ 🐴 This was such a cute festive novella, with a fake dating trope with one-sided attraction that turned to attraction on both sides as they got to know each other better. There were some elements which were over-the-top, hence this not receiving a perfect rating (like how Noelle initially nearly pukes whenever she sees Luke), however overall I loved the Christmasy vibes of this and had a great time reading this!
Thank you to NetGalley, J.P. Sterling, and Victory Editing for this eARC in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own 💕
This is a well written holiday romance with strong characters in Noelle and Luke. The author brings a laugh out loud story as she takes you into their lives with a fake relationship and all the fun times they have. She moves the story fluidly with her perfectly painted scenes and delivers an entertaining read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
Let's Not & Sleigh We Did is Book 3 in the Christmas Shenanigans Series by J P Sterling. I think that this holiday book is wonderful… like a Hallmark Christmas movie wonderful! Luke has been in love with Noelle since he was 14. Noelle has thought of Luke as slobber lips since he was 14. Of course, as adults, it must mean love. This is a perfect Christmas romance and should absolutely be on everyone's TBR list. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
I love it. It's hilariously cute. Just kisses and some one-liners that will leave you blushing. J.P. Sterling is great at writing stories that will make you want to be a part of the story. Just remember, first impressions last a long time.

‘Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did’ is the third book in the Christmas Shenanigans series.
This was super quick and cute holiday read. I thought that Luke and Noelle were so cute but also so cringey in the best way possible. They shared some very swoon worthy moments but also had some of the most awkward ones aswell. I laughed and I enjoyed.
Thank you NetGalley, publishers and the author for sending me an advanced readers copy of ‘Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did’ was such an enjoyable read.
Let's Not and Sleigh We Did, is a short novel about slobbery kisses turned swoony, not exactly friends, and a fake marriage. Noelle and her brother’s best friend, Luke, shared a kiss as teenagers. Slobbery and disgusting, the kiss has Noelle avoiding Luke for years. Unavoidably stuck together, they tolerate each other until they discover that the kisses between them now, are anything but gross.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Definitely needed this fast, cute Christmasey read. Noelle and Luke were so awkward and made me laugh. I really felt for Noelle. It seemed like life just wanted to continuously kick her while she was down. I wanted to have words with her brother. The way Noelle was with Buttercup and willing to do anything to keep him...that's how every pet parent should be. But for all the rough times life threw her way...Luke had answers. Move in with me. Let's get fake married. You can move your horse to 'our' new chateau we inherited from my grandparents because we got married. It's all fine and dandy. No big. It's always 'no big' until the feelings hit. While Luke has been in love with Noelle for ten years...Noelle had to get over some things to be able to see what was ultimately right in front of her. The chemistry and relationship might have started out fake, but with the Christmas magic everything landed right where it was meant to. In love for real. This was my second novella from JP and just like the first one, it moved fast and I find no faults with it. She always seems to have one right when I need it and I'm glad she keeps giving me chances to read them early. If you need a Christmas novella to read this November and December, add this one to your list and grab the blankets and hot chocolate. It's a good one with an adorkably cute guy who will do anything for the girl he loves, who's just trying to do everything to be able to keep her horse.
Noelle finds herself in a rough patch. After finding out her brother is moving and she must now pay for his half of the rent as well as hers, she also finds out the boarding place for her horse Buttercup is going to cost more monthly as well. Now she has to decide what to do. Luckily for her, Luke is her brothers best friend, and he's willing to move in and pay the half rent. Sadly, his parents aren't willing to allow that, so he forms a plan to get fake married to Noelle. He's just gotta get her on board first. This was such a funny, cute holiday read! I loved how the story ended up unfolding. They had to face so many obstacles, and I felt so bad for them a few times. The animals in this story are so stinking cute! I have always wanted a fluffy cow so I'm kinda jealous😂🖤 If you're searching for a holiday day read, with some twists, cute animals, amazing characters, and some great writing, this is it!
Tropes: ♡Brother's best friend ☆Fake marriage ♡rom-com ☆kisses only ♡forced proximity ☆holiday romance
Thanks so much to the author and Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op for the ARC!
J.P. Sterling’s Let’s Not and Sleigh We Did is the perfect holiday romcom, packed with Christmas cheer, witty banter, and a dash of farm life charm. Luke has been secretly in love with Noelle for years, but winning her over proves to be an adventure filled with humor and heart. Noelle’s journey from disliking to actually liking Luke unfolds with genuine warmth, while the delightful farm animals add a whimsical touch to every scene. With Sterling’s clever dialogue and vivid holiday atmosphere, this book is a festive, feel-good escape that will leave you smiling long after the last page. I highly recommend this fun and witty holiday romcom and today is release day, so you don’t have to wait any longer!
Enjoyable content: 🎄 Marriage of convenience 💋 Accidental kissing 🎄 Twin’s best friend 💋 Fluffy cow 🎄 Forced proximity 💋 Frenemies 🎄 Closed door romance
Thank you to the author J.P. Sterling for the electronic copy of the book.
This is such a fun story and it kept my full attention from beginning to end. With so many great characters I was completely drawn into their lives. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down, from Vegas weddings to fluffy cows it all had me smiling. It's so easy to root for Luke and want him to have his happily ever after. Some laugh-out-loud moments mixed with swoony kisses equals a 5-star rom-com! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This is a fun winter holiday novella that is sweet with no spice. It’s a perfect fast feel good holiday read that will have you believing in the magic of Christmas. I loved the characters backstory and how smitten our MMC was. Plus there is some fun Santa magic thrown into this one and a swoony fake Vegas wedding!
𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬:
Noelle shares a rental with her twin brother and she just found out he’s moving out next week. To top it off the stable she works at just told her they can’t keep including her horse’s room and board fully due to increase costs. This means she’s underwater and she’s going to need to pick between being homeless or selling her horse Buttercup. Neither of those are really options for her.
So when Luke, her brother’s bestie and the guy she’s repulsed by due to a gross slobbery kiss back in the day offers to help she wants to say NO! But she’s running out of options and time, that’s how she ended up on a cot in Luke’s dorm room. Thankfully the gagging feeling every time she sees him is gone, he’s kind of actually cute now.
Luke has been in love with Noelle forever, he’d do literally anything for her. Now he needs her to help him. He just found out he needs to get married ASAP to inherit his grandmother’s château. This house means everything to him and it helps Noelle also. It would mean a free place to stay with lots of space and a chance to board Buttercup with her on the property saving her lots of money. Now just to convince her to say yes. Then once she’s his fake wife, he just needs to convince her to fall in love with him easy right.

Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did So there’s a gal called Noelle , she’s all outta luck. For her darn twin brother Nate got himself on the hook. Now she’ll be alone in this big old farm cottage with another thousand bucks rent to find? Even if she found two jobs it’d be a struggle. Nate’s answer? Luke his mate!? Not on your life! All this cos he got himself a date . Resisting to throw a hurl , not only abuse at her dear brother . But why bother…Luke was the dude who kissed like a frog , not a prince and Noelle was put off for life. A hopeless romantic she once was but not anymore because of him…ew rife…Nate argues that he’s not as bad as he was…Well he could not get any worse! Luke has always been a spoilt rich kid yuk please! There’s no way on god’s green earth she will live with Luke Slobberlips! She’ll sell her kidney , or even one of her hips ( well not really she’d look funny and fall over) .A week notice ! Cheers brother! Oh and now another low blow when to the stables she did go. She must now find 50% rent equating to five hundred bucks, correct blimey life sucks. But if she’s to keep her horse Buttercup. She must suck it up….Well turns out Luke has his own special reasons to negotiate the living arrangements and so he sets out to plan the ultimate engagement . “ Marry me Noelle …What? Seems she’s got more than a house he wants to share , he wants to swap payments for his n her deeds before he loses his assets to his cousin that a will decrees. So they’re in a sleigh ride together and planning to pretend to get wed and thus share a bed ….if only it was that simple huh? Then along comes the snow and away we go. Their chemistry though is off the star charts and the Christmas magic has begun to start. Weaving its magic at the just the right time . They fall in love and it’s heavenly and sublime . A perfect Christmas story JP, with this awesome prose of yours . Such storytelling prowess. I could wallow in its warmth for hours. Loved everything including the fluffy cow.
I am an absolute SUCKER for "he falls first" and this book is oozing it! Luke (MMC) has fallen for Noelle (FMC) the second their lips locked on a childhood dare, and has been in love with her ever since. Little does he know that the experience of that kiss had the opposite effect on Noelle and she has to fight the gag reflux every time he is even mentioned. 🤣🤣
"My brow furrows as I resist the urge to hurl in my lap. Visions of the soggiest kiss I'd ever experienced dance around my head, and my teenage vow to never kiss anyone on a dare again echoes like a loud and annoying police siren." Ch. 1
It was fun (and refreshing) to see the MMC be the one tripping over his words and feelings for the FMC. I couldn't help but giggle each time he "confessed" something he had no intention of saying. Luke really was that love struck puppy 🤣
"I squeeze the steering wheel, avoiding looking at her and her perfect molars, because I'm already starting to name these imaginary kids who won't need braces. At least two. If we continue the N theme of her name, I like Nora or Nyla for our girl. A boy, definitely Nash because it's tough. What am I doing?" Ch. 10
The length of this book is more of a "novella" which I LOVE! This season always ramps up with business so to be able to fit in a well-written, highly entertaining, "all the feels" love story in the midst of it all is a bonus.
From Vegas chaos to cozy cocoa snuggles, this book has it all! I highly recommend you read it this Christmas season. 🎄
In Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did Noelle needs a place to stay for herself and for her beloved horse Buttercup (Princess Bride reference?) and that is why Luke comes up with the perfect plan: helping Noelle out who he has had a crush on for ages and getting his Grandmother’s castle. But they have to get married for him to get this castle he has such fond memories of.
This book was such a joy to read. I love how J.P. Sterling writes: with humor, some drama and awkward moments, but also with romance and with normal people you can relate to. Noelle does not have fond memories about Luke and as she has no alternative she has to take Luke up on his offer. Their interactions are just great, some are awkward but nice too, some are heartfelt and romantic in a way. You can feel for both of them and as their relationship grows, Noelle finds that Luke is not that weird person she thought he was. They have a great chemistry.
As I did read the other novels which are situated in the same small town and as the setting is around Christmas time, I just loved how Santa made an appearance as well, so he could spread some magic as he did in the other books.
Let’s Not & Sleigh We Did I loved reading a lot. It has charm, romance, a cute couple, banter, a lovely setting and plot, with a flowing humorous writing style, and it is a perfect Christmas story.
Luke is Noelle’s brother’s best friend. As a kid being dared, he kissed Noelle. And although he is pretty sure he fell in love with her that moment, she wants to gag whenever she thinks about the soggy wet kiss. Now adults, she still can’t get rid of the memory of that awful kiss. But her brother Nate is moving to be with a woman and the rent is due, so he arranges for Luke to move in with her to help pay the bills. That is definitely not what she wanted! But apparently Luke has other plans of his own when he finds out he needs to arrange for a marriage of convenience. This would allow him to receive his rightful inheritance of his grandma’s chateau which his greedy cousin Rob is trying to steal from him by being the first to get married, as stated in the Will. (Also he would win the girl he has cared for since middle school if she will go along with the marriage. And it would solve her concerns about her horse.) Will living together help Noelle to realize that Luke is actually not so bad? Will she be willing to work with him to save the chateau? The story is full of humor and will keep the reader laughing throughout as our two main characters live together and get to know each other. Will they find their HEA at last?
Let’s Not and Sleigh we Did is the third novella in JP Sterling’s Christmas Shenanigans Series. I am convinced this author’s special power is seasonal writing. She draws readers in with popular tropes, but keeps them with her wholesome settings and adorable love stories!
This was a cute, fun, romcom that delivered on the holiday cheer. It featured dual POVs (Noelle and Luke) that drove home the different perspectives of their childhood interactions. I still laugh just thinking about their first kiss gone awry!
In addition to being hilarious, I was shocked with how much character development Sterling was able to fit into the compressed story. Both Noelle and Luke began the story under immense pressure (securing housing and family expectations). However, when they came together they helped each other see their worth and what was really important, love and happiness.
This book also features: -(twin) brother’s best friend -marriage of convenience -he falls first -adorable barn yard animals (fluffy cow/ horse)
Needless to say, I cannot wait to go back and read the first two novellas in this series(Mingle All the Way and ‘Tis the Season to Get Married)! Special thanks to Netgalley, and JP Sterling for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
Christmas magic is on the menu in this entertaining Christmas romance with a fake marriage, a new home and a horse named Buttercup.
Noelle's twin brother has left her in a terrible position while he chases the perfect woman he met online. She cannot afford the entire rent for their house and all of her bills. When he tells her his solution is that his best friend, Luke, is going to take his place, she is not a happy camper. She still has nightmares about Luke from a bad experience with him at a dance many years ago. This will not work for her, or at least that's what she thinks. Now she finds herself in a very awkward position of a fake marriage of a guy she despises. Can she do this? She is shocked to see the high school version of Luke is no longer present, but in his place is a very nice looking man with brilliant blue eyes and the answer to all of her prayers, that is if she can get through it.
I laughed so hard so many times reading this book. Christmas shenanigans is exactly what this book is full of. I loved every word of it.
Thank you to Booksprout and the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
J.P. Sterling had me jingling all the way with this book. I read this book in a few hours because I couldn't put it down! Noelle's twin decides to move but doesn't want to leave her with all their bills so he asks his best friend Luke to move in with her. Well Noelle does not like Luke. She want to do whatever she can to keep him from moving in with her but she finally realizes thats her only choice. But then Luke shows up with a marriage of convenience proposal that will help them both out. Thats when the story gets really good. I was laughing so hard sometimes and I was definitely swooning. When the fluffy cow arrives OMG I was so giddy over that cow. I just love farm animals and that was such a sweet story. This story will have you smiling and you will fall in love with these characters. I'm ready to go on a sleigh ride with these guys and I hope you will join me! I highly recommend this book and anything J.P. Sterling writes.
Thank you J.P. Sterling for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
JP is such a master of characters that I am always eager to find how she makes the imperfectly flawed people so perfect for each other.
The writing of this book is great, with characters who have a shared but less than perfect past, but who grow close together and work out how to be with each other. I like that the characters get anxious and panic attacks, the guy doesn't know how to magically do everything, and the girl how to accept what life throws her way and make the best of the situation. All of this makes this book so realistic.
The book is also so magical, with a perfect sleigh, a sturdy horse and the most adorable cow, making it a perfect christmas read.
I am hoping and looking forward to Nate's story, and as much as I dislike him for leaving his twin, I am excited if JP finds him his imperfect match.
I received an advance copy of the book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Noelle and Luke have known each other for years, and after sharing an awkward first kiss in middle school have avoided each other over the years. This year both are in a bind…Noelle in need of roommate to cover her brothers half of the rent. Luke needing to get married so he can inherit his grandparents house before his cousin. Can they both help each other out?
This was cute holiday story. Noelle and Luke are the cutest in their awkward ways. I really enjoyed how seeing how Luke was getting the courage to tell Noelle how he has really felt all these years. How Noelle has grown to change her opinion of Luke all those years ago after that awkward moment. My favorite part of the story was the Las Vegas trip.
This is book three in the Christmas Shenanigans series, but can be read as a standalone. This is a novella and is a fast read. I would recommend this whole series if you are looking for a good laugh.
What a brilliant funny festive story. Noelle arrives home to find put her twin brother is moving across the country to marry his Internet date. Seriously who does that, especially as it leaves me to fund and pay the rent and bills. But it gets worse he's asked his friend to move in to help. No No No. Not happening Luke was the boy I ended up kissing as a dare and it ruined kissing for ages, and I avoid him as much a possible. Luke I can't believe I get to move in with Noelle I've secretly loved her since we were kids, although she doesn't appear to feel the same. This starts a series of events that could only happen in a book. Don't get me wrong I couldn't put the book down it just draws you in and has you preying for a positive outcome. The main characters are so adorable in different ways and Luke is just perfect bbf material. Sit back and get in the festive mood you won't be sorry ❤️
- Fake relationship - Second chance - He falls first - New adult - Christmas romance
This book was absolutely adorable! Poor Luke, so awkward! He and Noelle had shared a kiss while in high school and it was so cringy. In fact, Noelle still has a visceral reaction when she thinks about it. But Luke has been in love with her since that time.
When Noelle finds herself in a situation where she needs to relocate and Luke finds himself in need of a wife to gain an inheritance, Luke suggests they pretend to be married. Noelle is out of options, so she agrees.
However, Luke isn't the same cringy boy he was in high school. He makes her feel tingly! Will their fake relationship turn into something much more real?.
