This book is not a genre I usually read so my review is really based on what I enjoyed about the book. It is a YA super hero story. For me it was a quick fun read that kept me entertained. The characters were well drawn (both literally and figuratively) and I liked the angle the author took with the narrative. I liked the back and forth between the superhero life and high school. I did not see the ending coming and it leaves you with a cliff hanger, which I have been told is par for the course for this genre. Fortunately, I have the second book ready to go. 😁
This book was fantastic! It sucks you in and makes you feel like you are there with the characters. Action packed, I couldn’t wait to pick it up every chance I got! Absolutely fell in love with the characters. I am looking forward to the next book. What a treat this giveaway was, and it was a great pleasure being able to experience it! Thank you so much!!!
“In a city of heroes with super-suits, fourteen-year-old Eric’s powers are the real deal—he can fly, or rather, he must. He literally can’t stop. As if high school wasn’t hard enough.” Those are the first lines of the synopsis for Unsecret Identity by Jon McBrine. I love YA Superhero fiction, so those lines, coupled with the rest of the blurb on the Amazon page made me really want to read this book. I was not disappointed.
Unsecret Identity is a fun superhero novel with a great cast of characters. The synopsis isn’t kidding, either, Eric has to fly—like if he doesn’t, bad things will happen, which makes for a unique twist on the super powers theme. He’s also the only one out of the heroes that has actual powers. Everyone else is powered by the technology in their suits. This makes Eric very, very unique as well as creates several problems for him throughout the book.
This is a classic superhero story with a few fun twists. I could definitely see it becoming a graphic novel or series of comic books. It is well-written and kept my attention so much that I finished it within a day!
