After months stuck as a bobcat, KitKat has begun to feel more comfortable as an animal than she ever did as a human.

Stolen away as a toddler and raised by the snake cult that murdered her father, she’s lost touch with her own magical heritage too. With the help of her older sisters, Cassie and Ellis, she’s slowly learning to navigate her powers and relationships. But when she’s reunited with her guidestone—the very thing meant to guide her—it begins to strip away the humanity she’s fought so hard to reclaim.

Every lie smells like blood, sending KitKat into uncontrollable, animalistic rages. As she hunts for her missing baby sister, Penny, KitKat must tread lightly or risk tearing apart everyone she loves. When KitKat catches the scent of the snake cult’s latest plot—a venom-fueled ritual that may involve Penny—treading lightly is impossible. With her sisters, her best friend, and a new, infuriatingly charming ally named Cam by her side, KitKat’s rampage begins.

Yet, the snake cult isn’t working alone. In league with the Summum Malum, they’re unearthing ancient, cataclysmic powers that could doom this world and the afterlife. To stop them, KitKat must find the air relic she’s destined to wield. But with the Malum’s monstrous guard bear hunting her and Cam—a fellow misfit with a knack for dangerous deceptions—inching his way into her heart, KitKat may have to embrace the wild side she’s tried so hard to tame.

SCENT is the ferocious third installment of the Five Senses saga. Join KitKat and her sisters as they battle to stop ancient evils from being unearthed, risking everything to protect the future and each other.

I knew the next book in this Five Senses series was about KitKat. She had been the sweetest character in the previous two books and I had a special spot for her non-human persona and her sensory ability. When I got the chance to read Scent, I got way too excited.
This is a well written book with superbly executed scenes, monologues, and dialogues. The family bond and friendships are the core of this series and this story as well. The author has a way with details. She did it with Scent as well. It brings out the emotions by giving us a peek inside KitKat when she shapeshifts and when she is human. Her sweet bond with Cam and Matty was a delight to read.
I can't wait for the fourth book and know more about Alanna.

Wow. All I can say is wow. Scent was such a fun book too. I honestly think that Scent has been my favorite out of the three main books (Touch and Taste). Please don’t get me wrong, I love all three so far, but Scent has this special feeling.

The stakes in this book is so much higher. The action really kicks up a notch. I absolutely loved it. I honestly felt like I was on a fantasy adventure. I felt like I could have been on The Mummy, Uncharted, and maybe Indiana Jones but make it more fantasy. I absolutely loved this.

The characters are still so much fun. I loved getting to know Kit, and more about the sisters, Matty, Cameron, and even our villains. The new characters are amazing too.

*Mild Spoilers*

I think Kit and Cameron are my favorite couple. There’s just something about their character development that just makes me swoon. I love how their relationship is just so sweet. However, please, Ms. Kahn, let my babies make it. I love them. I also love how Cameron got his little redemption because I was very disappointed on him back in Touch. So, way to go, Cameron. 👏

I’m so ready for the fourth book. The action in this was incredible. I was biting my lip with anticipation in how it was going to play out. I hope to see some other characters that we haven’t seen in a long awhile in the next book(s).

I also wanted to mentioned that Scent was my very first ARC. I’m so grateful that this book was my first experience with an ARC. A dream come true. Thank you to Ms. Kahn and BookFunnel for providing me and letting me have this experience with an ARC. I’m voluntarily leaving my own review.

I have read all the previous books in the "Five Senses Series" by this author and was incredibly eager to read the continuation of this story. Honestly, I can’t even express how much I loved this installment.

The story picks up exactly where the second book leaves off, so if you haven’t read the earlier books, I truly recommend starting with them before diving into this one. Each book focuses on one of the sisters, and this time, the spotlight is on KitKat, the third sister, who is a bobcat that can now transform between animal and human at will. The group is on a quest to find the stone that gives her powers. One of the perks of KitKat’s transformation is her heightened sense of smell, which she uses to her advantage. The sisters also discover that their youngest sibling is alive and will search for her, battling old and new enemies along the way.

In this book, the author continues to expand the world she has created, taking the world-building to a new level. I loved all the twists and the deeper exploration of the magical elements. We also learn more about the antagonists and their motives. This is shaping up to be a fantastic action-adventure series that I wholeheartedly recommend.

KitKat has been my favorite of the sisters since the first moment she was introduced. She turns into a bobcat! How could she not be?

Anyway, I loved getting her story, and from the opening chapter, I was pulled into this book. The chase, the way her paws hit the hard ground, the descriptions of the surroundings, everything about the opening scene was freeing. I felt like I was racing over the desert with Kit and Matty. The attention to detail was amazing. It called to me, and I don't even like the desert.

The book just continued to get better and better. I loved seeing all the characters together and how Kahn never forgot one of them was there. They were always pulled into the scenes in ways that felt natural.

The emotions that she brings out in the characters was so well done that I felt what they were feeling.

I think I say that every book by her is my favorite, but this one is my favorite! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

"Scent," the latest installment in the "Five Senses Series" by Cheryl Kahn, is a thrilling continuation that blends family dynamics, friendship, and fantasy elements. Picking up right where the second book left off, this novel centers on KitKat, who is a bobcat shifter.

The scenes are vivid and the dialogues are engaging. I didn't want to put the book down!

KitKat’s journey is compelling, and her relationship with Cameron was just right. Their sweet romance stands out and as a romance lover, I was fulfilled.

With a perfect balance of action, adventure, and heartfelt moments, this book leaves me eager for the next one.

I truly enjoyed reading this next installment of the Five Senses series by Cheryl Kahn. This novel was action-packed from the start. The story focuses on KitKat, the third sister of this alternative race family who earlier in the series was stuck as a bobcat. Now human, she is working on not only herself but on solving the mystery of where her little sister is. There are some new, intriguing characters introduced in this book as well. I highly recommend checking out this novel!

This is book three of the Five Senses series and tells the tale of one of the youngest of the five Zephyrus sisters, who are destined to be carriers of the five relics that could save their world. She was saved from the house fire which her older sisters thought their father and two youngest sisters had died in, by their father and taken to the snake clan, the Asclepians, he was partly related to. The clan leader had her father killed and raised Aurora aka KitKat, and her younger sister Penny (Persephone) as part of his family. When his real daughter Gen (Genesis) and her friends took her to the top of a cliff near the compound, the daughter’s jealousy of her place in her own family, saw her push KitKat off the cliff in an attempt to kill her! KitKat changed into a bobcat for the first time ever, as she fell, saving her life. She ran off in that form and stayed in that form until she got the scent of Ellis and came across her in the hills above the hidden lab Ellis had escaped from. Now she is with Matty (Mateo), the last water person Ellis met as they searched for her relic. He has accompanied her to pick up her guidestone, which was left in her bobcat home, but isn’t where she left it. Seems a bird had taken a fancy to the shiny necklace, and she will have to use her newfound abilities to scent where the bird is and get her guidestone back! Matty can communicate to her in her head whilst she is in her bobcat form, which is handy.

Once she gets her guidestone back, her sisters Ellis and Cassie, formerly Cyndra, want her to find her air relic before anyone else can, but she is determined to rescue Penny, who she had to leave behind. The clan leader had been experimenting on both of them, first Rory (Aurora) as she liked to be called then, and now since she has escaped and is thought dead, he will be using Penny in all of his rituals, making her suffer as KitKat did. She wants nothing to do with the snake clan and this was why she has changed to using the name Ellis gave her in her bobcat form, KitKat. The only problem is that she has spent far too long in her animal form, and it controls her, even when she is in her human form. When Ellis lies to her, its smells really bad to her and it sets her animal off, leaving her trying to kill her own sister! Only Matty seems able to comfort her and bring her down from her killing state! With her sisters are Jackson who helped Ellis in her escape, Matty who helped Ellis find her relic and has stayed with her ever since, and Cameron, a relative to Cassie’s bear shifter mate Gabriel, and Everett another bear shifter. Cameron is human and has no abilities but tells a white lie to KitKat and that sets her off in a rage yet again. Her sisters and friends have agreed to help her get Penny but try to tell her she would be better off getting her relic first, so she would have the full range of her air abilities. They need to stop the snake clan and its leader who have joined with the Summum Malum, before they can use Penny for whatever twisted plan they have.

KitKat finds herself falling for the charming Cam (Cameron), but he is hiding secrets of his own past with his uncle and cousin, having followed the wrong side for some time, before realising he was on the wrong path. His relative Aaron, is a bear shifter who is allied with the Summum Malum and all attempts to get him back on the side of good, have failed. Cassie and Ellis have found out the snake cult leader is working on bringing back an evil being, long thought dead, who leads the Summum Malum and wants to take over their world and the afterlife. KitKat uses her enhanced scent abilities to locate the hidden snake clan compound, but they have all disappeared and there is no sign of Penny. What she does find is a small snake that approaches her and winds itself around her wrist. It is friendly and turns out to be more than they think at a latter part of the story. Cam starts to get quite jealous of Matty and his closeness with KitKat, especially as she won’t tell him that Matty prefers boys, as that isn’t her secret to tell. No matter how much she tries to say Matty is just a good friend, their actions confuse and annoy Cam. After escaping to Vegas, they are surprised by Dr Craig, he very mentor Jackson had shot point blank and who should be dead! He is obviously being possessed by the Summum Malum and has extraordinary strength and speed. They all separate and KitKat gets pulled towards a poster for Greece, a clue at last as to where her relic has been hidden. The group need to split up, as one group, Ellis and Jackson, goes to Egypt to destroy the body of the Summum Malum’s leader, Anax, in his tomb, whilst Cam, Matty and KitKat go to Greece, with an unwelcome addition, Genesis, to pick up her relic!

It won’t be simple to obtain her relic, especially with someone they can’t trust like Genesis with them, and she will have to get through a few dangerous surprises to get it. Somehow, Aaron has located them and uses his corrupted proto relic stone to try and stop them, to get Kit’s stone from her. The snake clan leader has a ritual he is trying to perform to get Anax into a new body, and they find out he doesn’t need all of the relics, like they first thought, to be successful! They have found a way to recharge the relics they stole and the proto relics they have formed, and the tertiary power source is not the sister they thought. A huge battle will have to take place as they try to stop the snake clan doing their ritual to bring back Anax, with the group not yet having any back up from the bear shifters as yet, so going it alone. Ellis has a new item to bring to the fight, found in Anax’s tomb, which will have some unexpected benefits that could stop the Summum Malum in their tracks. The sisters haven’t heard from their sister Lana (Alannah) who was stuck in the afterlife, unable to pass on like all other souls, but now can’t be found there by anyone who has tried to connect with her. The snake clan ritual will give them a clue to where she is but will also leave them unable to locate Penny. A clue will be given when Kit uses the snake clan leaders venom against him and this will lead them to a dead end, but one with at least some hope! The shadows of the Summum Malum are getting stronger and harder to defeat, but the sisters aren’t going to give up until they are all defeated, and their world and the afterlife are safe for the future. Another hard time for each sister, as they fight to ensure the next relic stone is claimed and the power absorbed by that sister, ready to battle the evil they will face as prophesised. A few interesting surprises along the way, with hard battles and injury, as well as a bit of romance. More still to come as one more sister needs to be found and her relic stone safely obtained, with her other sisters united with their friends to rescue her and save her form the shadows.

I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout, and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Scent is the third installment in the YA Fantasy ~ Five Senses Series. This book follows KitKat along her journey to find her guidestone, air relic and her little sister. As she searches for them, she uncovers a past that reveals truths that had been lost to her. Kitkat’s adventure picks up on the heels of Taste with her sisters, Cassie, and Ellis and her best friend Matty. We are thrown right into the action from page one.

Now that Kitkat is no longer stuck as a bobcat and can shift as she pleases, she realizes that as a human she doesn’t know how to come to terms with who she is supposed to be and the responsibility that sits heavily on her shoulders. Insecurity eats at her as she wonders if she can accomplish the destiny that lies in front of her.

On her quest, she is forced to go back to the snake cult that killed her father. While there, she faces repressed memories of her childhood and what forced her to change into a bobcat. As she struggles, she finds an unlikely but comforting friend in a little snake named Feta that gives her the courage to face things head on.

The author did a wonderful job illustrating the dichotomy between the simple instinctual feelings she goes through as a Bobcat versus the complex emotions that we struggle with as humans. Once Kitkat finds her guidestone and her powers manifest, she realizes that the fight between bobcat and human that rages inside her has become harder to control. The primal instincts of the bobcat care little of her human sensibilities and she has a hard time controlling it.

I loved the original way her scent power was portrayed in the book. The way she could smell the difference between lies and truths was interesting and added another layer to whatever was going on in the story. I was surprised to see that her love interest in this book was Cam. I was disappointed in his behavior in Touch so was unsure how I would like him here. As we follow him along in the story, we learn of the deep-seated regret he carries for his part in Cassie’s story. As their relationship unfurls, they come to understand each other in ways others don’t. She helps him come to terms and accept who he is. They make each other stronger as they fight their insecurities together. His character arc and redemption were well done. I was rooting for him, and he seemed like the perfect fit for Kitkat.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend this series to anyone looking for a fun fantasy adventure. I look forward to reading Alanna’s story.

“Scent” is the third book in Cheryl Kahn’s Five Senses series, and it’s KitKat’s story. KitKat is Cassie and Ellis’ younger sister, and she’s also the main POV character of this book.

KitKat was such a strong, fierce heroine. I loved her bravery, and how incredibly loyal she was to the people she cared about. Even though she had her own struggles, she always did her best to do right by her loved ones and the cause.

I also really loved her relationship with Mateo! They are seriously best friend goals. KitKat and Matty’s bond is so special, and I also loved that it was entirely platonic. Platonic friendships don’t get as much attention as the friends to lovers trope, but I still love to see it!

To sum this up, I thought this book was just as good as the first two were! The plot is so complex, and I’m really enjoying how the storyline is progressing. I’m totally addicted to these books, and I don’t know how I’m going to wait for the next one! The Five Senses series is an absolute must for any young adult fantasy romance fan!

Cheryl just keeps raising the bar. This series is an absolute joy to read. I need the next book like next week so I can start it after I recover from this epic book. This story focuses on Kit, who is a bobcat shifter, learning her powers while trying to reunite with her younger sister, who has been taken by a cult they had been raised by. This story features many characters from the past books joining her on this globe spanning journey to save her family & the world.
The stakes in this story felt so much bigger than the other books in the series. I loved them traveling to new beautiful places around the world. I also loved learning more about the evil forces that are out to take the powers of these gifted sisters & prevent the 5 of them from uniting together to fully unleash their power. The romance in this book is also a really sweet treat!
This series is amazing & I want more! 5 stars 🌟 Give me more Cheryl! I can't wait for more books from you!

This was such a fun, exciting epic adventure of a book and I think it might be my favorite out of the first three so far! It has everything you want and a fantasy adventure that keeps you coming back and guessing. Plus, the authors writing is beautiful and fits her genre so well. I’ll say the steaks are definitely higher in this one and you feel like you and all the characters are teetering on the edge! I definitely recommend this one! Such a fun main character as well.

This is book number 3 in the 5 senses series and boy does it turn up the drama! We follow KitKat, on her journey to find the air relic. I love how despite this being the third book in the series and all the books have a similar premise, (girl must find relic and gain her powers), it’s very different from the books that have come before it. Cheryl does an incredible job and keeping you on your toes with plot twists and the shock value is high in this book. It is YA, but not cringy YA. As a 34 year old I very much enjoyed the read. The world building is amazing and the characters are so lovable. FETA 4ever!!! Go pick it up!!

I think this is my favorite of the series so far. I loved KitKat in the last book and am so happy she was the main character in this one. The reader got to know her personality a little bit before but her development in this one is great. Her friendship with Matty was so sweet. I loved the way they communicated and how he balanced her abilities. I really liked the pacing and how KitKat’s backstory was woven into events happening in the present. It didn’t slow it down and added a lot of detail without being an information dump. The romance did take a little bit longer to develop but I loved the amount of magic and action, so I was not missing it as much. I do not like snakes, and I would never be able to what KitKat did, but one small part of that situation I did find heartwarming.

Thank you to the author for the gifted copy.

Exciting fantasy

This was such an exciting read that expanded the world of the alts.

I loved how KitKat grew past her flaws and the trauma of her past to embrace her powers. It was also awesome to see her sister's powers grow in this one, too.

Really well written urban shifter fantasy and possibly my favorite of the three books!

This book was an amazing sequel. It’s well written and I love following the sisters’ story. It delved deeper into the worldbuilding and answered some questions from the last book, but still left room for more in the next book. Can hardly wait for the next book in the series. I really want to know how it all ends. A must read for urban fantasy readers.

Book 3: Scent. Aurora a shapeshifter. Recently been stuck in Bobcat form for a long time. Now together with Matty, Ellis and her boyfriend on the hunt for her necklace and the relic that holds the rest of her powers. A journey to find those things follow. Friend and foe joining the group. Fighting against know and unknown powers and people.

Wow this book was so good again! At the start of the story we got these little reminders of the past books. It was really nice how this was woven into the story, like little reminders. So you did not miss anything if you dont read the books back to back. Also Aurora's personality was very well written, very sarcastic and a bit angry at everyone and everything.
Its a ⭐⭐⭐⭐ book for me. And i can not wait to find out what happens in the next book!

How would you feel if you could shapeshift into a bobcat? I think it'd be pretty cool and handy. In Cheryl Kahn’s Scent, third book of the Five Senses series, Aurora aka KitKat can do just that!

The Five Senses series is about five sisters who all have a heightened sense, and Scent features KitKat and her amazing bobcat nose.

Kitkat is in search of her relic, the air relic, which will help her with her powers. Along the way she has to fight some bad guys (what awesome heroine doesn't?), the Summum Malum, and the snake cult that raised her. But with her sister, her sister’s ex-military boyfriend, her best friend, and a handsome stranger, she finds her relic and much more during their journey.

This is a series full of found family, love, real family, friendship, shapeshifters, and magic. Definitely a series you don't want to miss!

What a great third book in this series. I love how each book has its own central characters, but all of the series follows one continuous over arching plot line. There was tons of action from the get-go and who wouldn’t love a Shapeshifting bobcat! These are epic fantasy with an intricately built world and just the right amount of romance. I am excited to see where the last two books take us.

The third in a series - this book does not disappoint.

I have enjoyed the entire series but I think that this may be my favourite! I loved how Kahn brought in old characters from book one, as well as our favourites from book two.

In book 3 we follow KitKat (Aurora) as she hunts down her air relic in the company of the All-American boy Cameron (yay! He's back after running away from the family of Bear shifters in book 1), her two sisters Ellis (the FMC of Taste) and Cassie (the FMC of Touch) and their boyfriends, plus the edition of Matty (featured in book 2 as part of the guardian clan for the water relic).

There is always a downside to great power: Cassie can't be touched, Ellis can only drink blood - and Kit?? Well, we find out that being a shifter with air powers is not all it's cracked up to be.

Join Kit as her powers increase and she battles the feral nature of the Bobcat as well as newer powers of being able to scent emotions, and lies. Will these powers overwhelm and destroy her or with the help of Matty and Cam will she overcome and become the relic holder she was destined to be.

On this journey Kit must face the trauma of her past, the betrayal of her adoptive family (the Asclepian Snake Clan), the truth of what being a relic bearer means, and decide what family is and means.

The characters are rich, vibrant and multi-faceted. The story has a depth that makes it memorable and immersive for the reader. The overall feeling of this book is just too much to put into words.

Khan has a magical way of weaving a story that makes the reader become invested. And now? Now we wait to see how the rest of the story plays out.

This book is as amazing as Touch and Taste, and has all the elements that made me fall in love with the 1st two books!!! Book 3 follows KitKat, the extremely likable 3rd sister who turns into one of my absolutely favourite animals, Bobcat! It's so hard to write this review without spoilers.

Cheryl's writing is exceptional as ever, she truly knows the magic an author needs to keep her readers glued to the story. She also knows how to add that EXTRA ingredient to make each book better than the last one. My only complaint is how long it took for Scent to come out. PLEASE MAKE SURE BOOK 4 DROPS NEXT YEAR CHERYL! OR PREFERABLY NEXT MONTH! (Chop chop, stop making tiktoks and doing real life stuff and get to writing, your readers NEEEEEEEEEEEEEED book 4 stat! Stat I say!)

All jokes aside, this is one of my top 5 favourite reads in September and probably the whole year.

I cannot express how incredibly done this story is. The third installment of the Five Senses series, Sense is so intriguing I was literally unable to put it down once I started. The attention to detail the author captures draws you right into the story and makes you feel as if you’re on the adventure right along with KitKat. This story has everything from fantasy, to magic and romance- it’s so action packed I am now anxiously awaiting the fourth book. Kahn has outdone herself with this unique series- well done!

This tale is original, spellbinding, and well-written. The action, drama, and romance are addicting. This is book three in the Five Senses series, and it picks up immediately after book two. These books are definitely best read in order. This is the story of KitKat, a bobcat shifter. The sisters are on a mission to find the stone that gives her power while also searching for her youngest sister, who they discovered is still alive. Kahn is a vivid storyteller, and I am excited to see what's next for the sisters.

I loved jumping back into the alt world that Cheryl Kahn has created. Kit Kat’s journey was just as exciting as the other sisters and I can’t wait to see what happens with the last two sisters. It’s wonderful and yet so heart wrenching to have Cassie, Ellis, and Kit Kat together. There has been so much distance between them, forgotten history, and new territory for them to figure out.
Also, Cam is back…wasn’t sure how I felt about him after book one. Does he redeem himself? Well, you need to read and find out.
